Went here with a friend. She said familyfriend is known for the corn soup, so we tried that. I haven't had corn soup outside of having it at home. It was satisfying and could totally see it as a comfort food. Also the item i liked the most from what we ordered. The two other items we tried were the empanadas and fried estufao chicken plate. I don't normally eat empanadas, so i'm not familiar with what's standard, but I thought these tasted decent. The shell was crunchy. The sauce was a little on the spicy side. The fried chicken came with red cabbage and mac salad. It was alright. I think I've had better fried chicken elsewhere. Overall, glad I finally tried this place and if i were to come back, i'd go for the corn soup again. Service was good. They have outside seating which is great when the weather's right. Inside is quite small and compact.

Originally, the diminutive Beacon Hill shop aimed to serve a sophisticated take on the comfort food that Dulla grew up eating. But now, the eclectic menu, particularly the wildly popular smash burger, is hailed as one of the best in the city. The whitewashed brick, single-storied storefront looks more like a private residence than a restaurant -- your only clues are the neon-colored menu printout taped to the door and the low-key light-up sign in the blinded window. The cozy dining room is minimally decorated with Native artwork and scenes of Pacific islands. Lime-green upholstered chairs are pressed up to geometrically patterned tables. The adjacent bar space is dimly lit by red bulbs and a flatscreen playing muted anime. Lofi tunes are drowned out by the roar of chatter. My fiancee and I visited for early weekend dinner before a Mariners game, and we had no trouble securing a table close to opening. Our consensus favorite dish of the night was the Corn Soup (Rosary Style). The deliciously aromatic broth channeled coconut milk and chili oil into a warm embrace. The tiny Seafood Kelaguen Tostada combined rich coconut with tart citrus, but the overall flavor felt muted. The lauded Da Kids Kewpie Burger was a very good riff on the smash burger. The addition of miso made the flavor profile remarkably rich, and the smashed patty had deliciously crispy edges. However, the portion size was modest at best, and the flimsy bun was boring. The extra-crispy accompanying Truffle Fries were seasoned well enough to enjoy on their own, but we enjoyed dipping them into a side of Ffanana Jam (Familyfriend's sweet and vinegary take on banana ketchup). For dessert, we opted for the Bunelos Manglo (Typhoon Donuts). These piping hot, dense donuts fell somewhere between mochi and funnel cake. Packing chewy mango bits, these two-biter treats never needed the overly sweet side of peach sauce. The service was efficient, and our bill approached $100 (after tax and tip). By the time we left, I was reasonably full, and every indoor table was occupied. Our consensus was that the food, while generally tasty, felt $10-20 overpriced. Further, the renowned burger was good-not-great; it never lived up to its $25 price tag, much less its billing as one of the best burgers in the country. Expect to pay the premium for the one-of-a-kind menu and the local hype, rather than out-of-this-world food.
Still a solid place from when I had this back in 2023 though I did oversell how packed it would be when I came with friends here at exactly 5pm on a Saturday evening when they open, thinking that it would still be overly full or at least have a long waitlist like back then. That was totally not the case, so we had the inside to ourselves until about an hour later when seats started to fill up. Big reason why they were so full with eye-popping wait times back then? Not many seats for 2-4 people, and about 10 seats at the bar, all in a cramped yet oddly cozy interior. Their menu has changed mostly in naming from the last time I was here back in 2024, but everything I've had here thus far has still remained. One of those dishes is their kewpie burger with truffle fries, which they added a "da kids" prefix at the beginning which made me think that it was a kid's meal. If anything, the size of the kewpie burger and fries is rather small even when you add another patty onto it for extra. The burger is essentially a smash burger but it's so tasty that you forget it's a kid's size meal! The extra truffle taste on the fries makes it all the better too. Better yet, we all got this too, though only one of us opted for a single patty instead. It's not a complete 5-star experience because of the relatively hefty pricing overall for pretty much everything on their menu. My friends were ecstatic to finally try here after wanting to for so long and they too were very happy with the quality of our kewpie burgers. I can see why people still come here after so long, and we'd be back for their other stuff!

I had really high expectations of this place from the reviews but I think my expectations were a little too high. The food was good but I'm not sure I could justify visiting again for the price. We got the following - kewpie burger w/ truffle fries: it was a really good smashed burger. I liked their sauce and the burger was juicy. It reminded me of a slightly larger dick's burger. The truffle fries were perfectly cooked, thin, crispy and a very strong flavor of truffle. - corn soup: it was creamy and savory. Good appetizer - fried estufao chicken plate: I thought the chicken was a bit plain and I wasn't a huge fan of the rice or the Mac salad. The Mac salad was a bit too sour for my liking but I understand that is a personal preference For those 3 dishes the total came out to around $80 total. I think if I was really craving truffle fries I would consider visiting again but I don't think I'll find myself going out of my way to revisit.
I really enjoyed the ambiance of this place. True to its name it felt very homey and friendly. Our server explained everything on the menu and helped guide us to some really awesome food! We really loved the corn soup which they were kind enough to split into four for us, the jackfruit red rice bowl, and the chicken adobo tacos. The sopes we tried was pretty bland so could've skipped that but everything else solid. They have hot sauce you can ask for on the side - recommend the pineapple habanero if you really love spice! Dessert hands down get the banana bread. It was so delicious!! Would come back again!

We waited about 30 minutes in a Saturday night and were seated at the bar. They do take down your cell phone number and you can come back later, but there's not really that much to do nearby so we just hung out in the car until we got the text. I would come again to get their burger again and try some of their other dishes, but it's a bit far from me and expensive so I'm not necessarily rushing to do it.
Came by for dinner with my friend, after taxes and tip, it was $81 for two single patty smash burgers, a side of the banana ketchup and a salad. The salad was delicious- fresh and vibrant, every bite was sauced. Burger was good but not for $20, truffle fries were yummy and fried to perfection. Banana ketchup was sweet.
Wanted to try the Smashburger here. It was really good. The fries even better. The single is maybe 3oz meat raw so it's small. I would say get the extra patty. Fries were really good and I don't like shoestring fries but these were good. The only negative was that they say they have outdoor seating for dogs but on a 70 degree day in April it wasn't open. So we had to order to go. Also a little pricey but still worth going.
I tried the corn chowder, seafood kelaguen tostada, and the kewpie burger. All three dishes were very flavorful! If price was not a factor, I would definitely come back to explore more of the menu because everything tasted great. But because the dishes are on the pricier side, I would be happy to come back if a friend wanted to eat here, I am not sure I would go out of my way to come on my own. The staff were super friendly and helpful, answering all my questions and giving great recommendations, which made the experience even better!

Familyfriend is a hidden gem in Seattle. It's a cute little joint with both homey indoor and backyard outdoor seating, secretly holding one of, if not the best, burgers in Seattle. It's a miso smash burger with truffle fries and it's incredible. The fries are unlike anything I'd tasted before! Not your traditional truffle fries for sure! The burger was crispy loaded with umami flavor, and seasoned perfectly! The service was great! For dessert we got the Lanabread that was also fantastic! Not too sweet, but it hit the spot for a dessert! I can't wait to get back and try more of their food!
This place is a local hole in the wall restaurant with amazing food but is surprisingly expensive for the portion sizes. The food is really unique since there aren't many Guamanian restaurants around. It's reminiscent of Filipino food with influences from many other Asian countries. The servers here are also super friendly and really make you feel like a family friend. My favorite dish here was the Seafood Kelaguen Tostada. It was kinda like ceviche with the citrus marinated seafood, but it also had coconut which brought an interesting sweetness and tropical flair. It was really fresh and had a mix of textures with the meaty seafood, the creamy coconut, and the crispy tostada. I also really liked the chicken adobo tacos which had fall apart chicken coated in rich and tangy adobo sauce, wrapped in the slightly sweetness from corn tortillas. While everyone raves about the smash burger, I don't think it's worth it. It was good but I don't think it was better than other well known smash burger places like Saint Bread and Local Tide. It was also pretty expensive compared to other locations. One thing about this place is that it's not cheap, so be prepared to spend a good amount depending on how hungry you are.
Familyfriend is a small, homey restaurant. It seems to be very popular, so I would come early. The service was great, but unfortunately I did not enjoy the food. I got the la paz batchoy and it honestly didn't taste like much. The broth was super mild and because of that, the noodles were bland. The pig liver was way overcooked, and became super rubbery. I did try the smash burger as well. It was good, but nothing crazy.. I felt like the meat to bread ratio was off to me ( I think there should be more meat). The truffle fries were thin, crispy, and the truffle flavor was nice.
What a gem in a cozy neighborhood! I don't usually venture out to beacon hill often, but I gotta say I'm very impressed. The casual restaurant-in-the-front-but-open-backyard-in-the-back concept worked very well for me. Just the way it opens up to a whole new different area was nice, although I've seen other places do it much more poorly. Food was great too. We had a single patty burger and some fried chicken. Despite being a single patty option, as opposed to the double patty option, it still was a hefty volume of food and the flavor was well done. I got the pickles on the side and that was great as well. I haven't had much experience with "Guamanian" food, but I'm delighted by it now. The fried chicken was also very well done. Not too greasy and not too dry. Just walking that fine line. I loved it. Mac salad could be slightly softer but that's a bit pick in my view. The service was great as well. Most of the food for our group of 10 ish all came out together, so nobody had to awkwardly eat food alone while the rest of the group stare with jealousy. And the waiting staff was generous about not being able to make food decisions quickly. I thank them for their patience. All in all, surprising little restaurant in the neighborhood that I usually don't go often. Strongly recommend if you are trying to vibe with a group of friends with some unique cuisine like Guamanian food! read more
This review is primarily on the bitso bitso, which is the only thing I got here. The dessert felt just a bit thrown together. The coffee pudding was more of a sauce with concentrated coffee syrup dashed throughout, and the bitso were nice and chewy, but it didn't really go well altogether with the pineapple. I did try a bite of my friend's burger and it was good, but nothing special so unsure about the hype here. read more
I guess I'm a fan of guamian food! It was our first time trying this cuisine and we all loved it! The space is a little small and doesn't take reservations but we got lucky with getting a table as soon as we walked in. The staff was lovely- they walked us through the dishes, gave recommendations and introduced us to their house made sauces which were all delicious! We'd seen the burger be called Seattle best and it was in fact a solid burger, especially when paired with their sauces! The corn soup was a really comforting flavour and the seafood tostada was my favorite! We also had to try the typhoon donuts which were not what I was expecting- they were more like hush puppies with the mango flour adding a very unique flavor! The other desserts also looked really good but we were stuffed. Will have to go back to try more. read more

Came by on a saturday night with 2 people and got seated immediately at a group table with another party of 2. Very cute and cozy ambience inside it feels like you're just in a house. The workers are all very friendly. Ordered the corn soup and it was super yummy it reminded me of coconut curry but with a twist. The smash burger was soooo good it had the perfect amount of flavor and crisp plus the buns were so soft and not too bready. The truffle fries were shoestring and also had such good flavor. The buñelos were just okay to me because they were pretty sour but it's possible that it's because it's not mango season or maybe thats the appeal for some. I definitely want to come back read more
Went for the corn soup, stayed for the truffle shoestring fries. A small intimate space with some bar seating, we arrived for weekend early dinner and sat at the bar as the table seating was already full. For a small upcharge you can split 1 corn soup into multiple bowls and they will give you a bit more per portion. Kewpie burger was not too big but the truffle fries were excellent. There is decent street parking in the neighborhood. read more

Absolutely obsessed with Family Friend. The smash burger is unreal and the truffle fries were amazing. The corn chowder was also great and comforting. The music is a whole vibe, the service is quick and friendly, and it truly feels like an IYKYK kind of spot. Everything about the experience feels easy and intentional. 3.5 a small cozy place on Beacon Hill. First time trying Guamanian korean fusion food. It was just alright for me... burger was like any other but smaller. Tried the soup and salad and rice bowl. Portion is definitely on the small size for the $$$. Glad we tried it but not sure if it's worth the drive for mediocre food. read more

This place is hyped up for the burger, but unfortunately I was not impressed. Overall they've got good culinary intuitions - the corn soup was the best part but also tiny. It felt like going to a regular casual dining restaurant, but "hip" and popular in seattle means exorbitant prices for small portions. The burger was TINY. yes its supposed to be a "kids" burger and for that I expect kid size prices. The meat was impressively LESS than that of a McDonald's or dicks burger, and inconsistently sized (there was a chunk missing from mine because it was so thin that when smashed, it had an empty spot). The truffle salt fries were delish but didn't make up for the cost. Truffle fries could be worth up to $7-10, but the burger was worth $3-5 max. Maybe if it had a truffle aioli to go with the fries the price would make a little bit more sense... $20 plus tax and tips for a portion of a meal is too much. The burger was so flat and empty - not dry persay, but not saucy, and had just the miso onion relish and nothing else... not even a piece of lettuce to spare? tomato? Dicks and other fast food spots would definitely be way more worth the money and be more filling. read more

I always drove by this place and wanted to try this place and help the neighborhood businesses. Stop by the one night, got seated right away, got waited on by a nice gentleman with a baseball cap. I knew what I wanted because I heard a lot about the smash burger and knew it was going to be about $20.00 but didn't know it was extra for an extra patty, which is ok by me. Luckily double was just enough because I think a single would not have been enough. It was tasty. And the string fries was good. But $.50 for ketchup that seems like a lot to charge, nickel dime for condiments. And I also ordered a soda, $6.00 and no free refill also had a lot of ice. Seriously I thought I was under dress because I just came in with sweatshirt and tennis shoes. And then starting tip suggestions was 22%, 25%?!?! I'm not sure I will be coming back. I will try other smash burgers. Fancy restaurant price for a small neighborhood not fancy restaurant. read more

had pretty high expectations for the burger here, and i have to say i certainly wasn't let down starting with the buns - i don't know if i've had a set more perfect than these. in a lot of places i've been to, the buns have been too chewy on the outside - but that's absolutely not the case here as they manage to stay incredibly soft both on the inside and outside, so you just bite directly through with pretty much no resistance. the crispiness of the patty is another impressive feat. while pretty thin, this is packed with flavor, and has a serious amount of crunch to it. the one regret i do have is not getting a double patty, as it was a bit too thin such that it wasn't always the primary taste of the burger, but it really was cooked fantastically. I also have to mention how well seasoned the patty was The american cheese is melted perfectly, and while it's not something ultra-special - tastes just like normal american cheese - it does provide a lot towards that homestyle, nostalgic flavor that comes from eating a cheeseburger The main parts of the burger aside, it's the accompaniments that truly elevate this burger to being all-time good The combination of miso, onions, relish, and mayo produces a flavor combination ever-present throughout the burger that's staggeringly good. There's just no skimping here - particularly on the kewpie mayo - which is slathered generously throughout the bottom bun. this unique set of toppings makes the burger just that much better I also can't go without mentioning how incredible the fries were. They were coated generously in truffle oil, which made them immensely flavorful on their own, but we also got the fresno chili and garlic sauce, which was great to be able to dip in. I don't think I've had truffle fries before, but they were fantastic I also took a bite of my friend's tinaktak rice bowl - and I was blown away by the amount of flavors in there that stick in your mouth long after you finish chewing. Would highly recommend getting that as well Going based off this, I would probably give a 9.75 or 9.5 out of 10, but we also got the Typhoon Donuts I didn't know what these were beforehand - but I have to say I did not like these very much The outside was decent and crunchy, but the inside wasn't really sweet at all, and there was a strong concentrated mango flavor at one part but not really present anywhere else. Overhyped & overpriced on basic elevated food. Cute small restaurant with a good size covered patio out back. There's street parking and the restaurant has a plain exterior design so kinda easy to miss. We heard the hype and read all the reviews so we were hella down to try it. Oh man, we were we so disappointed it's laughable. Dined in on a Saturday date night where we were seated at the patio on the bar stools that wrap around the tree. Patio was nicely covered but super loud and echoed. The server took awhile to greet us and take our order. We had ordered a Mannys and *Corn soup 4/5- $14.75- the soup was a delight. It came out lukewarm, as like the rest of the food. It reminded me of a savory version of a Filipino dessert called ginataang mais. Our favorite of the night. not worth the price tho, for a small bowl too. *Bulgogi rice bowl 3/5- $29.75 + $3 egg The steak was well marinated and has a good salty kick to it. Served with red rice and pickled veggies. The red rice was oily and the pickled veggies really saved the dish. With the marinated meat and the oily red rice, it felt heavy without the pickled veggies. This dish was nothing spectacular. And for the price point, pass. *3.8/5 kewpie burger- $18.75- specifically went for the kewpie burger and we were unimpressed. For $19 the portions were small. Reminded me of the special burger from Dicks lol. Extra patty is $5. The burger is basic, sauced with kewpie mayo, chopped onions and relish. We looked at each other and thought if people really think this is the best burger of Seattle, then wow, people really gotta go out more. Maybe check out Loretta's, now there's a burger. Our minds being blown didn't stop there. We ordered side of "The Ranch" for $2.50 and they served it in the tiniest sauce cup and it tasted like basic ranch, nothing special lol. The fries had just a *hint* of truffle, *Typhoon donuts 2/5- $11.25- had to order the infamous typhoon donuts at the end of the meal. And this order took extremely long. The donuts have a yummy mango flavor in the dough. We were excited for the peach coulis until we dipped our donut in there and tossed it in our mouths. I spat that out so fast. The coulis has a spice that was not in the menu description. Personally, I didn't love it and it threw me off guard. My bf also wanted to spit it out but he powered through it. We thought it would be yummy with a side of condense milk or a peach flavored condense milk. Overall, the price isn't worth it. Dinner was about $100 and it left us unamazed and still wanting something else. I overheard another group of patrons behind us talking about going to get Dicks after their meal and I totally get it. TikTok did it's thing and put me on to familyfriend. Different articles also said familyfriend has one of the best burgers in the nation. How can I not check it out, right? They do not take reservations. They don't even have a website. The owner apparently was trying to stay low key and under the radar but quickly found out the power of social media. The restaurant itself is very unassuming and can easily be passed up. There is not signage except for a tiny, flashing neon light in the corner of a window. It looks like a house so were were hesitant to even open the door. Inside, it is definitely a house converted into a restaurant. Small and quaint, but full of charm. We caught an Uber here, but parking does look a little challenging in the Beacon Hill area. Customer service was amazing. Carolina walked us through their menu and was on top of her game our whole visit. familyfriend is Guamanian restaurant with a little bit of a Filipino influence as well. Their rise to fame came from their smash burger though. It's called the Kewpie Burger. It comes with a single smashed patty (I added an extra patty for 4 more dollars), onions, miso, American cheese and pickles (I omitted them). My burger came out nice and fresh. The smashed that burger to perfection with tasty, crispy edges. American cheese is a must on burgers and it melted so wonderfully between the meat and soft buns. The onions were caramelized to perfection as well. It was served with truffle, shoestring fries which were delicious. I'm one of the weirdos that typically doesn't care too much for truffle overload, but these were so good. They have a small, but unique cocktail menu. I settled on a Japanese draft beer though that was perfect with my burger. All in all, this was a successful find in our travel researching. I would definitely come back if in the area. read more

Conflicted about writing this - on one hand the food was great, and I want to support small biz esp. API owned, but on the other hand it was super expensive and didn't live up to the hype. 2-3* for value, 4.5* for food We tried 2 previous times to come here, unsuccessfully (last couple of times we were told it'd be a ~30-40 minute wait, "maybe less", but ended up being well over an hour by the time they called us - we'd already given up and gone elsewhere) This time, we showed up Sunday ~4:45pm, 2 or 3 parties already lined up ahead of us, and more showing up as we waited. Host came out a few minutes before 5 to take down our name/party size. This was nice because our tables were all set up and ready to go (we'd requested a high chair) We were seated at a bigger table with another party of 3, so just know that you may end up sharing a table with others. Food seems to come out right away - by the time we got our drinks, some other tables had already gotten food (they must have ordered right when they sat down) - I was impressed with how quickly food and drinks came out throughout the night. We ordered drinks, and the waitress helped us narrow down our food order (she recommended the burger over the fried chicken plate since it was our first time) DRINKS: Teekeeza ($16.25) - described as "mezcal, sweet lime, coronita". When the server brought it out, he just said "here's your Coronita" and we were initially very confused thinking he either brought the wrong thing or that we were still waiting for the rest of the cocktail. Then we realized the cocktail WAS inside the bottle - so they just add some mezcal and lime to the Coronita bottle? Not the best value or presentation for a $16 cocktail IMO - this was the most underwhelming thing we ordered. Coconut lemonade ($9.75) - I asked for this to be made less sweet, and I thoroughly enjoyed this pina colada like drink - the tiki cup was a fun touch :) FOOD: Corn soup ($14.50) - I knew going in that we were paying $14 for soup, but I had to order this based on rave reviews. I did, however, assume that based on the description including "thighs of chicken", that we would get an actual chicken thigh included in each bowl of soup, but it ended up just being little bits of chicken and corn here and there. The soup was tasty and sufficient for 2 people, but again questioning the value at $14.50 (Note: it's not stated in the menu, but there's a charge to split bowls. I overheard the party of 3 next to me asked if they wanted to split the soup 3 ways for $5.50. Unclear if you get slightly more soup or if it's purely a bowl/plating charge - but in either case they declined. I can't imagine this bowl of soup getting split into anything more than 2 portions..) Riyenu empanadas ($16.75) - tasty and the green fina denne sauce it comes with is bomb..but at the end of the day you still are just getting TWO small empanadas for over $16... Da Kids Kewpie Burger ($18.50) - tasty but small - extremely thin patty(Extra patty is $5). Comparable in size to a dicks or chucks burger, but with a thinner patty. I really liked the pickle/onion mix on the burger, and patty had nice crispy/lacy edges. Fries are tasty, not too truffle-y, but started to get hard rather than crispy after the first few bites. If you're hungry, this will NOT fill you up. NO sauce included (we didn't need it), but ketchup is $0.50 and other sauces $2.50 Langka kadun pika rice bowl ($23.75) - tasty, jackfruit mix is tangy & spicy, red rice well flavored but mild enough to pair with the jackfruit. I don't eat a lot of jackfruit, but felt like it could have been cooked down just a bit more? Again, $$ for a rice bowl that isn't large, but still enjoyed Bunelo manglo "typhoon donuts" ($11.25) - ordered to-go since our toddler was getting fussy. You get 4 slightly larger than golf ball sized donuts + sauce in a paper bag. Very dense and a bit chewy/sticky/doughy. Bits of mango in the dough, sauce is nice and tart. VIBE: casual vibe with high-end prices - also pretty loud (but I liked the MJ playlist :P) OVERALL: Food was yummy and comes out quickly, but small portions and high price tags. They charge for everything from ketchup to split bowls on top of the menu prices themselves. I'm glad we tried it, but given the difficulty in getting in and the high prices, sadly we're unlikely to return soon unless the hype dies down and/or they lower their prices. But, as long as they have a line of people waiting for them every day, I guess there's no reason for them to NOT continuously hike up their prices! First 2 times we tried to visit, it was also pretty frustrating that they were so wildly off with their wait time estimates (personally, we were out in under an hour - seated just after 5 and out by 5:58) Lastly, their tip suggestions start high - I believe at 25% and going up to 35%, which I guess at least is an improvement over some previous reviews that referenced a 55% (?!?!?!?!?) suggested tip amount! read more

A enjoyable foray into Chamorro cuisine. We ordered the Corn Soup, Kewpie Burger, Tinaktak Red Rice Bowl, and Lanabread. The Corn Soup was quite satisfying on the unexpectedly rainy day we went and the Tinaktak Red Rice Bowl had many unique flavors and textures going on. We sampled a few of their House Sauces and ended up choosing the Shrimp Crema to pair with the Kewpie Burger. We had heard rave reviews about the burger--unfortunately overhyped. It was a good smashburger for sure, but didn't stand out in any way. The Lanabread was a pleasant way to end the meal read more
Guamanians from Guam! Guamanian food with an American twist. Family Friend has the infamous Kewpie Burgers and a great variety of other choices at this popular but pricey neighborhood restaurant. We tried to get in on Saturday night but the small dining area and bar were completely full so we tried again on a Monday night and found no problem with capacity. Our server was friendly and helpful. The outside of the restaurant is very subtle, blending in with the neighboring businesses well. However, there is a small A frame sign outside on the sidewalk to advertise good vibes. Our group of 4 each had the Kewpie Burger served with truffle fries and we had an order of the corn soup to start. The food is very good. Very tasty and inventive. I've been loving smashburgers lately. What I didn't like were the prices. I put a photo of the menu on this review and just for kicks, I checked older Yelp menu prices in previous reviews and see that the prices have rapidly and steadily risen in the last 12 months. A couple of examples are the Corn Soup and the Kewpie Burger & fries. On 12/23 the Corn Soup was $10.50 and the Kewpie Burger & Truffle Fries was $14.75. When we went on 1/6/25, the soup was now $14.50 and the Burger was $18.50. For the soup, it is a $4.00 increase. For the burger & fries, that is a $3.75 increase, each in about a year. Our server suggested we split the soup but weren't told we'd be charged an extra $2.50 for that. Also, the fries were served with no dipping sauces. Ketchup literally cost us an extra $.50 and the other dipping sauces were $2.50 each. When the bill came up, the tipping options on the device presented started at 22%. Whatever happened to the 15-18%? Holy cow! Don't get me started on the drink prices. (A Tieton Apricot cider would've cost $9.50. A six pack of that costs about $13 in a store. The mixed drinks were super pricey also, costing $16.75 and up.). Our bill for four was $133.25 including tip. Wow. This was for a burger & fries for each of us four and one order of corn soup. No drinks, just water (no ice either. Maybe that would've cost extra!). Recap: Food and service is great. Way over priced, likely due to it's popularity and being in Seattle. We walked in with 5 people on Monday night and were lucky enough to get the last available large table. This is a small restaurant so definitely go at an off-peak time if you're with a large group. Given the small space, it is a very cozy and intimate setting that truly feels like your having dinner in a family home. The Kewpie burger is often recommended as the best burger in Seattle and for very good reason. The crispy smashburger with raw onions and pickles make for a well balanced and addictive bite. Plus the truffle fries are deliciously crispy. My friend also tried the corn soup and thoroughly enjoyed it. Street parking only in this area; easy to find a spot within a couple blocks. read more
I've been hearing good things about this place and my conclusion is the food is really good but as other Yelpers have commented, it's on the pricey side. My food was great, I had the chicken pub roll and the sope and my friend had the corn soup and the smash burger. We sat on the patio in the back, I could tell how this place would get crowded. Service was lovely. I would come back for a special occasion but as a frequent thing, probably not. read more
I went here on a rainy Saturday and even then, there are people that started lining up 30 minutes before opening for first seating. We made it to first seating arriving 20 minutes before, but the restaurant instantly filled up within minutes of opening. First time trying Guam food and it hits the spot. We tried a bunch of dishes family style, as well as ordered the Lola cocktail that drinks like a martini, the Propofol Ice that's fairly tropical, and for the non-alcoholic drinks, the coconut lemonade that kind of reminds me of a Yakult. Corn soup (rosary style) - so good. It has a coconut curry flavor and it is very hearty. This and the burger are the only 2 dishes that I find worth the high price tag. Seafood kelaguen tostada - seafood is fresh (shrimp and octopus) and very refreshing, cooling off with a creamy coconut-like sauce Da Kids kewpie burger and truffle fries - this is their signature dish and lives up to the hype. We opted for double patty for $5 more so it was $23.50 total, but includes truffle fries so that was okay. I wished they put the patty more evenly cause when we cut it, I ended up getting half a single slice of patty :( it's okay as I will go back to try this again, but not necessarily most of the dishes we tried that I was able to get more of. La Beacon Batchoy (La Paz Style) - an interesting, more unique item that has intestines and the soup is fairly refreshing. The egg noodles were a bit clumped together. It is not for the faint of heart but I liked it. Tinaktak rice bowl - tofu and eggplant rice bowl. I'm not a fan of eggplant in general but I enjoyed this dish a lot. Buñelos Månglo' (typhoon donuts) - mango flour made this dessert pretty unique. In fact, you can't go wrong with either dessert so we of course tried both. This donut is a bit on the tangy side because mango isn't in season so I suppose that's why the mango donut is a bit sour, but the peach syrup made the dessert complete. Lañabread - this one is decent banana bread with a Guam twist. I liked the ingredients they put on top, a bit herbal. I prefer the typhoon donuts a lot more though. Service is decent but felt rushed. It makes sense if the place is busy but there were a few times where they took and/or attempted to take away dishes that still have a little unfinished food. Like come on, we are paying so much money for this meal, let us finish it in full. That is a little unacceptable. I do appreciate the frequent water refills throughout the meal though. I'd say the hype matches the quality of the food, but prices are insane. Not even a month or so ago, they just raised prices after the New Year for each dish by at least 5-15% for an already pricey meal, and the fact that their tip options start at 22% further exacerbates the high pricing, which is the reason I took off a star. read more

Corn soup - very good Burger - tasted like elevated dick's Truffle shoestring fries - delicious Had to get sauces for additional pricing. 50 cents for ketchup and $2.50 for everything else. Cocktails were anywhere from $15-$18 dollars I would have rated this place higher if it wasn't overpriced. read more

Definitely the best smash burger you'll find around! The fries with it were also really good. If you're going to try anything else on the menu, go for the corn chowder. I want to go back and try some others things. The restaurant is very cozy. The seating is limited and they are always crowded, but they are very accommodating! read more
