Really appreciated Chris' service tonight. He's really good at what he does, even explained the sauces, the bill, provided extras and was generally helpful and friendly. The place is nice and clean and bright, too. The food is good but we already knew this because we visit the Famous Dave's on the Westside normally. So we went again tonight and I have to say, the service could have been better as well as the food. I ordered the ultimate cheese burger at the suggestion of our server. It was disgusting, it was way too big, had too much on it, I couldn't eat it. I tried to just pick at it with a fork, share it and finally just make a mess of it on the plate. Then the server would be gone for such long periods of time, it was like he was a break for most of the time we were there. I asked for a sweet ice tea to go, specifically asking for sweet and I received unsweet tea with barely any ice. It was a let down tonight. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by an angry male employee, seated by an angry female hostess, and waited on by an angry bartender. As we sat in the bar area we watched multitudes of customers leaving after their meals, not one with a smile on their face. Which figures, because not one of the employees had one on their faces either. At least, not when adressing their customers. I tried to order the chicken tenders and the bartender unapologetically told me they were out of those. I ordered the byob dinner that they were advertising in the menu. I asked what the difference between the regular and the large was, he scratched his head and said "a couple ounces". So i oredered the "regular". when the order came, i was taken aback by Tiny the meat portion was LOL! The chicken was cubed in 3/4 " cubes and i got a whole ten of them, it was laughable! the chicken was dry and chewy, but it didnt matter i was done with my meal in a matter of minutes anyway. my dining companion at least got a good portion of meat on his plate, the brisket. alas, it was all grisel and he didnt much enjoy his dinner either. at least i was out of my misery quickly. there also is a giant leak of some sort they have sectioned off with yellow caution signs, nice. also, the bathroom smelled like dirty mop. it looks like they are building a new restaurant up the street, if it's bbq this place is dead or at least it should be. read more

Let me first say I knew this place would be disappointing. However, when the place next door that we originally planned to dine in quoted us an hour wait time we didn't have many other options since it was my MIL's birthday. We were seated at a table that wasn't clean and when the server came to clean it he couldn't reach the whole table so I had to help him wipe the wetness and stickiness off the table. The salad I received was wilted and I tried my best to pick out the yucky pieces and eat it anyway but it was awful. Then my baked potato was cold so the server brings another one with all the toppings (butter, cheese, sour cream and bacon) in what appeared to be a prepackaged takeout container. I again tried to eat what I was given but either the potato or the toppings left a foul after taste so I couldn't eat it. At this point I explained my issues to the server who brought over the manager. This guy says "well I can go ahead and give you the military discount for your trouble" I quickly advised him that I already qualified for a military discount considering my husband and I are BOTH retired military!!!! I was sooooo angry at this point but I refused to ruin my MIL's birthday dinner so the manger decided to comp our alcoholic beverages and we got the hell outta there !!! Never again!!! read more

For el paso standards, this spot is the best spot in the area. There's better bbq spots but they are way farther. Anyways, I've been here 5 times. Memphis bbq keeps me coming back, along with they're mac & cheese & lastly their cornbread muffins. Overall, the location, and setting, atmosphere gives it a 5 in my book. Famous daves is a unique restaurant in the way they serve you. They give you so much food it's impossible to not be full. However the downfall is you'll walk out with nothing in your wallet as it is pricey. There's also a girl that I have a big crush on here. Might be checking into this place a lot more.. I don't know why Dave is famous, but his BBQ is pretty good. I was flying into El Paso for a work function and was jonesin' for some BBQ. My boss looked up a few places before we departed Orlando and this was our desitination of choice. I ordered Brisket and pork ribs tips. They also have a great alcohol selection. I wasn't expecting that. They have their signature sauces at the table and they are very impressive. I love a good BBQ sauce that packs some heat and I wasn't let down. The atmosphere is super casual and great for families. I think that's why I wasn't expecting a full bar option. If you're in the Texas area and see a Famous Daves, I'd defintely recommend stopping here. Honestly, I know El Paso is kind of the outlier within the Texas BBQ scene, but I expected more! Was seated promptly and quickly had my drink order, but after getting the "One Person feast," I was disappointed that it seemed like the French fries were reheated... I know it's a chain, but expected better. Service was good, but it is the worst BBQ I've ever eaten...yes really! I had the Famous Plater which came with 3 ribs, BBQ chicken, chopped BBQ on a piece of Texas toast, baked beans, coleslaw, corn and a cornbread muffin. I'll start with the sides. The fries tasted like they were several hours old. The outer skin was chewy, almost like they were reheated in a microwave. The corn was like most BBQ places, unmentionable. The beans, slaw, and muffin weren't weren't bad, but I came for BBQ not side that you can get anywhere. The chopped (pork I think) was 90% fat. I mentioned it to my server and she said, oh do you want it lean? WELL HELL YES I WANT IT LEAN! I mean I would take 70/30 meat to fat ratio even. She brought out a second serving of the chopped pork on toast and it was exactly the same! I gave up on that and went to the chicken. Well it was all meat, but very dry. I had to saturate it with bbq sauce to eat it. Finally the ribs. They were awful! They were burnt and dry. It as if they cooked them days ago and threw them in a flame to reheat them. The food was great, but the service was horrible. It was a busy time so the wait was understandable however, our waitress's brought out all the foods BUT my mother in laws. We waited for another 30 mins to get the food... Made ZERO sense when what she order was the same as what he ordered. There is not that many BBQ places around here. Since RnB Soul Food closed we are now forced to go to chain style places. Today Famous Dave's was very, very good. I ordered the Monday daily special which was a chopped pork BBQ sandwich with fries. The pork was good but it was lacking in sauce. Personally I think pork is a little on the dry side when it comes to BBQ so sauce for me is mandatory. The fries were good but hey, how can you mess up fries. We finished our lunch with the brownie desert and that was fantastic. A pretty small scoop of ice cream however for the size of the brownie but hey it was still amazing. All in all this will probably be our go to BBQ fix until we can find another hole in the wall place again. read more

Today's visit was a bit disappointing. A new menu item is being heavily promoted: hickory smoked sirloin. It's looks so good in the pictures that we had to give it a go. My wife got the steak platter and I got the steak and ribs combo. The steak was greatly over seasoned (salty). As usual, my ribs are tender and tasty - but also as usual, not very meaty. This would have been a two star review, but the service saved the day. The wait staff is exceptionally well trained. They are attentive without being over bearing. When we told our waiter about the too salty steaks, he immediately brought out a manager who offered replacements, even though we had nearly eaten them completely. They were extremely apologetic, but grateful for the feedback on a new product. I appreciate that, but from now on, I'll stick to the barbecue and get my steaks at a steakhouse. Prices are reasonable, but the atmosphere is noisier than I like at dinner. The screams of small children echo throughout the place. read more

This new location is set where a previous local restaurant used to be (which in my opinion, stank!). The décor is modern and at first does not look like it's very spacious, but there are more tables toward one side and the back of the establishment. Our waiter was very informative and offered complimentary beers since they don't have a liquor license yet. I had been to FD before and knew how big their portions are; the waiter did not hesitate to make a recommendation to us, which was what we ultimately ordered: the feast for one, which included shredded pork, three ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw and 1/4 grilled chicken. We enjoyed the flavor of the food and the promptness with which they brought it to our table. It's a good place for a group and the staff seems to be very well trained and attentive; I saw the manager visiting some of the tables and asking patrons for feedback. My wife and I came to this location while we were in for a conference. The waiter was friendly and helpful and I never had to ask for a refill as he was in it constantly. If you like a lot of sweet BBQ sauce this is your place. If you are looking for good smoked meat fresh from the pit, go someplace else. Had burnt ends and rib combo. Burnt ends lack any discernible meat flavor-just sweet sauce. Ribs were a little better but pork flavor was once again over powered by sauce. Finally I get to do this review! It was about two months ago that my family came to famous Dave's. My boyfriend didn't want me to post this because he didn't want to ruin anyone else's experience. I HAVE to because I get upset now, just thinking of the experience I had. I came into famous Dave's with my son and boyfriend, I entered and was not greeted by the hostess just past us to do idk what, no biggy right? Finally we where greeted after several minutes. Put in a booth, our waiter comes....he tells us about a dish that we can all share he described the dish as "huge". We ordered the recommended dish, it comes out...I can see a lot of plate...our waiter didn't pay attention to us...the dish didn't meet our expectations..oh well. Waiter was not the best. Other waiters help us while we ate not our waiter, it was bad but not what made this experience bad. We ask for the check, that is the start.....our waiter came with the check and said "Can you guys just kind of stack the plates on top of each other, and clean up after yourselves. Thanks guys have a good night." My jaw dropped. I look at my boyfriend and ask if I heard that right. I was so upset I usually am courteous enough to do so, but being asked to "clean up after ourselves"!?!? Why did I even leave a tip when he didn't do his job. read more

We have given Famous Dave's here in El Paso two tries and will never be back. Both visits were as a family with two children. Our service was dreadful and the food was served cold!!! It took 45 minutes to receive our food after ordering and another 20 minutes to get our ticket once we asked for it so we eventually went up to the counter to pay since by that point our baby was cranky and son was getting restless. Our barbeque was dry as a bone. The children's meal was literally the same size as the adult version of my meal and was utterly disgusting. There were other customers (plural) complaining to management around us about their meals...however we just decided to pay and leave and will not ever waste money here again.
