We had some friends with us who claimed they weren't hungry, but when the food arrived, you would have thought it was the miracle of the two fish and five loaves of bread with how much food was on the table. The quality of the food was excellent, with everything cooked to perfection. They also offer a nice selection of adult beverages to complement your meal. We had a good time recently at Famous Dave's BBQ. We were greeted as soon as we entered and although the restaurant was full, there was no wait. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. She was very attentive to everything we needed, but did not hover. The food was good. The menus is typical bbq, but they have their twist on everything. They have spicy pickles and Mac n cheese with jalapeños in it. One of my favorite things is their cornbread muffin. Even my husband loves it, and he doesn't usually like cornbread. Last weekend we made a pit shop into Famous Dave's. My husband dined here once before and loved it. It was my first time. Everyone was super friendly and country jams were playing in the background the whole time. It's a casual and comfortable scene. He ordered the pick 2 platter, and thought the burnt ends were the best thing since sliced bread. The platter was well worth the price. I ordered the Texas Beef Brisket sandwich. It wasn't bad at all. But, as someone who has dined at Sonny's, Mac's Speed Shop, Jim & Nicks, and The Smoke Pit several times over the years, I've had my fair share of beef brisket. The beef brisket at Famous Dave's was actually good, but it wasn't on par with some of the other aforementioned BBQ spots. A delicious beef brisket sandwich is typically made with slow-cooked beef brisket that has been marinated. The beef is juicy, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. It's also served on a fresh, toasted bun. On the other hand, a "decent" beef brisket sandwich has beef that is a bit tougher. The sandwich is served on a bun that fails to provide any added flavor, and it simply lacks the mouthwatering appeal you're used to when it's perfect. My experience with this brisket was definitely the latter. Fortunately, the sauces made it much better. All-in-all, the dining experience and service were excellent, so I'll eventually return to give the brisket another shot. read more

Wow! I really miss this restaurant being in Augusta. Famous Dave's across from Carolwinds, SC is an oldie but goodie's. I frequent this restaurant weekly when I lived in the mid-west, once I move to Augusta my wife and was excited that a famous Dave's was here. I had the brisket and Burned ends, the burned end where like pads of butter( so tender) the brisket was tender with a nice sauce. My wife had the St. Louis style ribs and she simply loved them. Shot-out to the corn on the cob, really good. Our waitress was super friendly and accommodating (wish I remembered her name). The atmosphere was dim however TV's at the booth seating was great. This is my favorite BBQ Chain and I'll put their brisket up against other brisket I've had throughout my travels. On this visit, they did not disappoint. It's smaller than most locations I've been to. I started with an order of Burnt Ends. These were huge chunks of fatty, melt in your mouth meat served with onion straws, pickled red onions, and hellfire pickles. I wish the chunks were a little smaller and a little more crispy, but they were delicious. I wish it was an Add On meat though. Appetizer was kinda pricey compared to the dinner. For the meal, I had their brisket dinner. I've tried all of the other meats before and all are good in their own way, but the beef brisket is always sliced, juicy, tender, and goes great with the Texas Pit BBQ sauce. It had a magnificent smoke ring! I paired it with the Wilbur Beans and Pineapple Steaks to try and keep the carb count down. I may have eaten some of the texas toast though. It was an accident, I swear! I don't have any of these near me, but stop whenever I can. I was in an out very quick on a Tuesday night. Picked up dinner tonight as it was on the way and my wife specifically asked for ribs. I probably could have ordered ahead but as it worked out, the ribs were ready very quickly and I did not wait more than 5 minutes. That's service! I love BBQ but Famous Dave's is nothing special. They are a chain that's available all over the country. I have high expectations for BBQ living in North Carolina. We went on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was slammed. We thankfully didn't have to wait for a table but our service sure was lacking the entire visit. We ordered an appetizer that came out the same time as our entrees. I ordered the pulled pork bbq sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Be warned that their mac and cheese has jalapenos in it. That was an unpleasant surprise. There's nothing remarkable about the BBQ here and I doubt I'll come back. Visited on Friday night for dinner, and they weren't very busy. Ambiance is nice and cozy, comfortable seating with booths and option of tables with chairs. Our waitress, Michelle, provided great service! I got the cheddar jalapeño sausage, beef brisket and pork, Mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and a corn muffin. All of it was delicious ! My boyfriend got the wings, potato wedge fries, Mac and cheese, cheddar jalapeño sausage and roasted chicken. He loved everything as well. First time at this Famous Dave's. This was my family's go to spot when we lived in the Midwest. I was taken care of immediately in the ToGo area and assured my order will be our quickly. I orders a family feast and a hamburger. Sure enough the meal was brought out within 10 minutes. Great service. My only gripe was that they were not generous with the BBQ sauce packets. The food was great but inflation made the taste in my mouth bitter. I guess that's gonna have to be the norm from now on. Crazy how expensive it is to eat out now. I was first introduced to Famous Dave in the VA area while visiting. I had not visited this location before. I was expecting guests over the weekend and I wanted ribs. I am not a big rib fan but if I was going to pay for ribs, I wanted some good ribs. I drove from North CLT to SC, Drive is not bad on the weekends. Famous Dave's did not disappoint. COVID precautions are in place. Parking lot shared with Moe's Mexican but plenty of parking. Across the street from Carowinds amusement park. I had a glitch with ordering online (thanks to BOA bank, not Famous Dave's ). Arrived at take-out lobby area, greeted by two very nice employees. Placed my order, food ready in 10-15 minutes and delivered out to my car. Packaged very well in large party pans (see pics). I ordered a family feast that feeds 8-10 people. Everything was DELICIOUS and FRESH!! Corn muffins were great, just as I had remembered. I will definitely go back when I want some good BBQ. read more

I want to be completely fair and straight forward with this review. I got a to go order as this was my first time going to famous Dave's. When I walked in I immediately saw the wood splits in a display case! This got me excited because as an avid BBQ eater I just knew this was going to be true wood fired old fashioned slow smoked bbq....unfortunately it was not. Got the ribs and brisket pick two combo with the Mac and cheese and red skin potatoes. This brisket was extremely thin sliced and it 100% was not smoked but better yet prepared in a oven and possibly introduced to mild smoke flavor whether in some form. There is no mistaking a brisket that has been slow cooked over oak or hickory wood for 14-18 hours in an off set smoker versus oven prepared brisket. It was dry and lacked flavor. The ribs....the ribs I'd give a 6.8/10, much better than the brisket but they were mid at best. The sides were decent. This place is basically Wendy's level bbq when compared to other top level bbq places such as Noble smoke or The Smoke Pit. I feel there's room for improvement, certainly not the worst BBQ I've ever eaten but absolutely not the best. read more

So, I love how this joint has a completely different side of the restaurant to order takeout. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the 2-meat meal with sides. I went with the brisket and ribs and grilled pineapple and broccoli as my sides. It was a ton of food (for me). My favorite thing in this order was the grilled pineapple. I have never had grilled pineapple and now I'm hooked! The broccoli was basic and not really seasoned. For the meats I though the ribs were ok. The sauce was on the sweeter side. It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't mind blowing. Considering we're in the Carolinas, you know expectations for BBQ is high. The brisket was tough and just about inedible for me. I took a bite and left it alone. Not sure why it was so dried out. Overall, the service was good and that mmm mmm good pineapple was the best part of my experience. We live pretty close and came here for a friend's birthday. We had a large group and were seated right away. The service was really friendly, but when I asked what custom soda flavors they had they said they didn't know the full list because they can make a lot of different flavors. They did eventually get back to me, but it was a little weird that it wasn't on the menu and the server didn't know. I got the two meat combo with rib tips and brisket. For sides I got Mac and cheese and grilled pineapple. It also came with a cornbread muffin. I wasn't a big fan of the meats. The ribs were a little better than the brisket but neither were great. I didn't really like all of the sides. The grilled pineapple was my favorite. I shared a banana pudding for dessert which I wasn't impressed by. Still a great joint for BBQ! Take out service was bad the last time I went which is why I lowered the rating. I was waiting for three minutes before I was acknowledged and received service from an employee. I saw the employees hanging out in the kitchen area discussing personal stuff before being assisted. I am a self proclaimed Bar-B-Que snob! I wasn't expecting much from Famous Dave's. This was the only option for the lunch delivery service, Foodsby, for this particular day. I was blown away. I ordered the pick two lunch combo with brisket, rib tips, and a side of potato salad. WOW! The portion was huge. I had two lunches out of this meal. The meat was tender and smoky. Potato salad perfect, and a bonus delicious corn muffin and spicy pickles included along with their fabulous spicy bar-b-que sauce. Very impressed!
