We went for lunch during some training in the area and I was surprised by the number of different menu options. I decided on the tomato & basil and wow... just wow. The toppings were fresh, flavorful and made me want to order a whole pizza. I also tried their classic pepperoni - Crispy, cheesy, and equally delicious. Even during the busy lunch rush, the service was impressively fast. They have a large, open feel, modern dining area and kitchen. Passed by this place a few times and wanted to give it a try. Came in around 1:45p ordered 1 pepperoni slice and a can coke. Paid over $8. After placing my order I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The hand soap was about 90% water and 10% soap at best! And no paper towels to dry my hands. That should've been my first sign that I made a bad decision coming here. I sit down to wait for my pizza and this is what I get. Besides the disgusting presentation, the dough was also raw. I took my slice back to the counter, the lady said to me "it just came out the oven" as if that justified what I was served. You know what's so cool? Wanting to try this place on a Sunday and they're not even open on Sundays... what's cooler than that though is waiting until the next weekend so you can try it on a Saturday, driving 20 miles to get here knowing their hours say they open at 11:00 am on Saturday, pulling up at 11:35, and the place being closed. You know what else is super cool? Calling over and over to ask why they're not open when they say they are and no one answering...oh, and their voicemail? It doesn't accept messages. Kids plowed through pasta and a huge pizza and it's the same consistency and flavor as what I remember growing up in New York. this will be on our "repeat list" when we come through Dallas again. This place is barely open. The door says they close at 7pm, The reality is they apparently close at 5pm. Which I was told when I complained since I had come twice to find the establishment closed. According to the extremely unapologetic woman at the counter the owner just hasn't taken time to change the outdoor signage. Then she mentioned something about covid which I'm pretty sure was like 2 years ago now. Get your sh*t together people! Your customers time is valuable don't waste it by posting incorrect hours. They're lucky this place isn't actually in NY or someone would have thrown a brick through their window for pulling crap like that. THIS IS A LUNCH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. Such a waste as its next to several developments with thousands of residents, has decent food and could actually be an awesome place. I now love going to Famous Joe's in Carrollton to get New York Pizza, pasta, stambolli or you name it from a real life New Yorker. How do I know he is from NY? Go there and you will see for yourself. He is no nonsense kind of guy who makes unbelievably great food. The many varieties of pizza by the slice, the traditional stromboli, calzones and pasta's are just like you get in New York from real New York italians. Not to mention the attitude. I came here for lunch and man was I glad I did! The places that serve true New York style pizza are all becoming too few and far between in the Dallas area. This place does it and does it well! They have several lunch specials that are pretty reasonable. I got the lunch special that has two slices of one topping pizza and a drink. I ordered two slices of hamburger pizza. The slices were huge and I could barely eat both of them. But most of all they were delicious. A true New York style complete with a brick oven cooking that gives the nice flavor. Sooo, I visit here quite often, the man Rick, that left such a rude, unnecessary comment, is upset and trying to make this restaurant look bad... but let me tell you, its not. Sorry Rick, but Joe's a really cool guy, I think you should go during open hours and give them one more chance. It'll change your life! But when I am, this has to be one of my top spots in the metroplex: the food is always the same, so you don't have a bad experience, then a good one. I noticed a lot of the reviewers here are complaining about the customer service here. I've been to this place several times during the lunch rush, and my priority is focused on speed and food quality, rather than service, er, "friendliness". I can't complain too much because they do a pretty good job. The owners here are from New York, I assume. The big guy everyone is talking about has that New Yorker accent, so it's no surprise. And yes, we're all used to that "Southern hospitality", but the owners here are from New York. The guy gets straight to the point without the useless chit chat. On my very first visit, I was thrown off guard when he's just straight up asked loudly, "What you want?" I thought it was funny because it's not what I was expecting, but he does his job at least. That's all I care about. I never witnessed the guy blowing and sweating over the pizza, as what everyone is saying. If he is, that's probably what makes the food taste so good! That is kind of gross though...Pizza slices are ginormous. I can get filled up with just one slice. I ordered 2 veggie slices and a drink for lunch today. I couldn't get to the second slice, so it's being eaten right now for dinner. I paid roughly $8 for my meal, which is not bad. Soooo...yeah...for 10.85 I got a homemade salad (Chef Salad) and I don't mean that in a good way. The iceberg lettuce, although seemingly fresh, was soaked from what I'm assuming was water. Fair enough, I got clean lettuce, okay cool. They put meat and cheese pinwheels on top and I'm positive that "provolone" was processed, individually wrapped Kraft singles rolled up in Great Value turkey and ham slices (yuck). It had a few peppers here and there, maybe a black olive every other bite or so. I'd also like to add I had to use a knife to eat this salad might as well have been a wedge salad. The ranch was meh. The service was rushed and rude at 2pm with literally 2 customers in the whole restaurant. I also ordered garlic knots, they could've just given me plain ole garlic knots but they added complimentary burnt bottoms and a bunch of crushed red pepper. Yep, first and last visit. This place has very good pizza, what I always get is the spaghetti meatball plate along with a slice of pepperoni jalapeño pizza and with a coke. Sounds like a lot of food but whatever you don't finish you can take home! The meatball plate is very big. Very good price for it at lunch time too. Tasty and the bread they bring you is good. Upon walking into the restaurant for the first time, I scanned the extensive menu trying to decide between pasta or just a pizza before I just decided on just ordering one of the lunch specials, "A Slice, Salad, and a Drink". First time here, arrived here at peak of lunch time on a Wednesday. The wall menu has a lot on it, so it was had to follow at first until you get your bearings. I was craving Lasagna so that is why I came here (and it's close to work). BE WARNED: the lasagna portion is HUGE. For $6.99 I was expecting the usual 3" square that you get at Olive Garden. Based on they assumption, I ordered a tossed salad first and some garlic cheese bread with the meal. When the lasagna arrived it was 3x the size I was expecting! It was delicious, but I was unable to finish it all. The food runners sent the food as soon as it came from the oven, so it was hot and fresh! I love Famous Joe's! The owner is a real New Yorker and has the accent to prove it. Feels like a real Manhattan pizzeria. There are plenty of options to choose from and the pizza is great value for the dollar. This place gets really busy during lunch so you might have to wait in line a bit, but Joe keeps it moving fast. Most likely will not go here again unless I'm in a pinch. The chicken stuffed roll thing had breaded chicken in it as if it was leftover from making something else. Breaded chicken... in bread. It did not have much flavor at all and the marinara sauce was spicy. The garlic bread was spicy too - why is the bread spicy? This i supposed to be Italian, not Mexican. The inside of the restaurant is kind of dirty and awkward. The lady behind the counter was wearing a tank top - not very hygienic for the food business. This place is really good! I'm really visual, so I have a habit of scanning tables to look at the food and often get strange looks. I love that some of the food is displayed up front so you can see it! We went as a group. The 8x10 daily menu above register is a little hard to see, and blends in. OMG- Never again will I ever go in there.... After ordering my food, I began to watch the very heavy set gentleman with the very weird looking hair, start to make a pizza. With no gloves, he wiped his head, checked on other pizza's, moved some pizza slices around, and then went back to making the pizza, never washing his hands. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. So I'm forced to give 1 star since 0 is not an option. I wouldn't rather go eat a CiCi's pizza before I ever go back to this place. First oft, don't ever ever ever fax an order in and think they will actually get your order prepared before you get there. I faxed my order in at 11:27AM and got there at 12:06PM and they hadn't even started preparing the order!! Order was for a meeting and the guy at the register wanted me to wait another 10 mins for them to make it! All this place does is take an already cooked cheese pizza and add whatever toppings you want and recook it in there oven. Same with the calzones. They were taking a cheese one and reopening it and putting the toppings I order back inside and recooking it. This to me isn't real cooking of pizza. I've come two times and it's obvious that the cashier (presumably the owner) is not from around here. He's abrupt and a little gruff, but not rude. Just doesn't use the Southern manners I normally encounter. I was hoping it indicated an authentic New York pizza and maybe it did. I can't really judge. Nobody laid out what's what on the board and ignored me until they were ready to take my order. I've tried the pizza a couple of times and there's something off. It's seasoned well, but it tastes as though there was no salt added, which makes the seasoning off-putting by itself. Salt really supports the flavor and it just lacked. The seating is mostly in line with the door, which means you get blasted with a cold wind in the winter. I kept my coat on both times because of this. Also, seating is tightly spaced. Visited for lunch as I was wondering if they were any relation to a recent Joe's in Grand Prairie or one I used to visit year's ago in Hurst. Saw nothing that links them .. oh well. :) Had the manicotti w/ a side salad. Salad was pedestrian but not bad for just lettuce, tomato, black olives, and pepperocini. Manicotti was excellent.. served piping hot and cheesy. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the bread that was to have accompanied it as it was not delivered to my table and I honestly was too lazy to bring it to their attention... maybe next time. It was a pleasant dining room .. one thing I ask is that you get something to cover the windows. With the sun shining in like it was today, several tables were in direct sunlight and very hot to sit at as well as having the sun in your eyes which is not ever pleasant. I eat here about once a week. It is not a knock your socks off kind of place, but it still is decent pizza and calzones. I've read a lot of posts about the big guy (lets call him Joe) and I can say they are all true. This guy looks like the school yard bully behind the counter, usually barking orders at someone and not a very big people person. I'm going to say that he actually works really hard, I never see him stopping and taking a break, but the dude looks like he knows his food.
