Love this place! Come here at least once a week for lunch, Which is about 80% of my lunches eaten out. If I'm feeling like eating healthier I get the chicken appleberry salad. Fancy Pantry was contracted with to provide a brunch, with the original count of 30, at a backyard wedding approximately 3.5 months ahead of the event. The menu was finalized and all was well. Two months prior to the event, as the COVID pandemic continued, Fancy Pantry was notified that 8 people would not be in attendance and the count was changing from 30 to 22. The response from Sadie (the owner) was "Sounds good". "This Covid world is a mess." So it was a surprise when, two weeks later and with a final count of 21-22 Sadie sent a note: "I am not sure how to proceed....such a tiny event". I did not want Sadie to lose money so I responded "Charge whatever is fair....do not want you to lose money". All was well (at least for me). Another week goes by and another note from Sadie: "Typically we do not go out on an event for less than $1,000.00 worth of food. We made an exception since your group was a little smaller due to Covid. But now I am not sure what to do, because I want to be fair to your group also." All I could think was, she knew the size of the group and had responded "Sounds good" but all of a sudden it is a problem so I inquired as to her intent. The response (17 days before the event!) was surprising: "If you have another option, I would love for you to take that. How about the afternoon caterer? Is he able to do the brunch, by chance?" This was followed by a phone call from Sadie to me berating my wedding planner who she had NEVER met and extolling her own business...shameful! In retrospect, Sadie did us a favor as this story has a happy Cinderella ending. The evening (reception) caterer (Chef Cary's Cuisine) delivered the "glass slipper", providing a wonderful selection of delectable, palate pleasing delights for the brunch and evening meals. read more

Such a delicious place to eat! I came here with coworkers to have lunch today and at first I was going to have a solo lunch but I decided to just have my lunch with people instead and boy was I glad! This place is like a version of Panera Bread only it's your mom and pop's kind of place! The place is very spacious and their menu has a very vast array of selections to choose from including your wraps, salads, and sandwiches. Each day they make their daily specials so I had their Tilapia Taco and it was SO DELISH! I couldn't believe how fresh the ingredients were and how just all the flavor profiles went well together! The tilapia taco came in a wrap along with mango salsa, which I loved and you get to choose your side-I had the red potato salad and it was very good. I devoured my lunch in 15 minutes! I couldn't believe how fast I had finished my lunch! Towards the end, I found out that they served strawberry lemonade so I asked the runner/bus boy if they had that to serve as part of their fountain drinks. She was super polite and nice and told me that specialty drinks are separate from fountain drinks. Five minutes later, she came back with a complimentary sample drink to taste! It was REALLY good, guys! I was very shocked and impressed with their service and just down-right sincerity of being genuine that I fell in love with the place! I wish they served those tilapia tacos everyday, but now I'm kinda curious to see what they offer every day in their daily specials! This is a great lunch spot. I like supporting small businesses, and this is just down the road from my office. I like their sandwiches and sides the best. I wish they would switch up their salad menu more- but that's probably just because I go there so frequently. It is quality food but a little pricey- the club sandwich and side was almost $14. I love their lemonade as well. There's is also an awkward waiting space for your order where you kind of stand on top of the tables that are dining in. Overall it's a great option to pop in and grab something different from the regular lunch spots. read more

Ok, so I work out in suburbia and my office building doesn't have a restaurant/cafe so we're forced to go out at lunch if we forget to bring something from home (or we brought something three days ago and the cleaning crew rummaged through the fridge after hours and mowed through the leftovers like a pig in heat). Enter: Fancy Pantry. It's close and convenient but Jesus H. Christ! I thought the "Soup Nazi" was bad in NYC! He ain't got nuttin' on these people! There is a certain procedure that MUST be followed or you get humiliated! There are ABSOLUTELY NO SUBSTITUTIONS PERMITTED and there is a big sign alerting you to this when you arrive - right next to the "Welcome" sign which I find strangely ironic! Ironic, you know? Kinda like when J.T. ripped off Janet Jackson's leather b**b cover during the Super Bowl halftime show that year and then had the audacity to say that it "was an accident?" Honey, you were wearing some sort of shield on your bosom like you weren't expecting company at some point that night?! Puh-leeeze! The food is decent, but God help you if you'd like the Portabella Mushroom Wrap with no tomatoes! You'd think you'd just asked for the owner's first-born! Are these people so freakin' programmed that they can't just skip the light pink (no, they're not ripe hence my request to leave them off) tomatoes and just proceed to the wilted spinach? Seriously?! You GOTTA put it on there? What the heck happened to "Have It Your Way!"? Oh wait! That was Burger King back in the "old days" as my nephew refers to it! Clearly, Sadie loves food. And her staff. And her customers. Sadie is one of the owners of Fancy Pantry Cafe, and this was such a weird and wonderful eating experience. I ate there when it wasn't open. I ordered something I didn't care for, and totally didn't understand how this place was, and in the end I could not help but love this restaurant. When I first came in, I was confused. The Yelp look up said they did breakfast, but the hours on the door said they didn't open until 10:30. The activity inside was at full speed, so I went in. I ordered a Cuban at the counter, and when it came, the flavor of the sauce translated as icky in my mouth. Sadie, alerted to my distress, leaped into action. Her prime concern was that the food wasn't sound. Apparently, it's my pallet that is faulty, but she didn't make me feel like I was wrong. She affirmed that it wasn't unsafe or spoiled, but as I didn't like it, let's try again. How about the Ruben? Okay? Moments later she sets me up with a delightful side, a pasta with Gorgonzola, her favorite, and now my favorite, too. The Ruben, classic, was marvelous. She gave me a taste of what the staff was sampling, a mini beef Wellington. It too was superb. This place was extremely busy with a dozen staff diligently tackling massive catering orders, but I could see that the ALL love what they do. They love food. They love their customers. I still love it. Coming back to Alpharetta is a delectable treat for me because my beloved chicken pear walnut salad awaits me. They have a wonderful catering menu and staff, and I have experienced their catering many many times. They make lovely caprese skewers, the most amazing mini beef wellingtons, delicious buffalo chicken dip, et cetera. I had my college graduation party catered and all my friends fell in love with the food too. To this day, one friend is a proud patron of the buffalo chicken dip. Their catering staff is wonderful, as we had an entire party prepared, set up, and cleaned up by a lovely woman. WHAT A MISTAKE This year all I got was a run around & obfuscation. It took Sadie several days worth of emails to tell me how they were charging meals now with HER deciding what my guests would get. After I told her to forget it, she came back a few times telling me they had the best food and to reconsider. Wish I could give this 0 stars. The experience that I had was atrocious at best. When I walked in I didn't get acknowledged or greeted while standing behind the person being checked out and there was another person standing at a free register who also did not acknowledge me. I am the only black person in the establishment at this time. After about 3 minutes the 2nd woman was done deciding if she wanted to interact with the black man and take my order. I provided my order to her, the woman barked out they don't make substitutions to their items, they only have 1 vegetarian option on their menu. Now I know for a fact they have before, I've ordered there before the EXACT SAME THING and they did it within the last month, and then it was just as bad of an experience then. I take it they don't serve many black faces in this establishment. This place is close to my job so its easy to walk across the street to get to it. For the cashier to bark out they "don't make no substitutions "shows me the level of respect and intellect I had to endure in using a double negative. So not-so-fancy pantry you do NOT have to worry about me frequenting your establishment for a sub-par veggie sandwich ever again. read more
