I didn't make a reservation but when I asked the hostess if they had a table for 1 she said there was nothing available and I could sit at the bar or the seating area up front. I jumped on OpenTable and saw they had several reservations open. Was seated within 10 mins. Had the burger and asked for no sauce and cooked well done. We arrived when it was busy, so we opted to sit at the bar. We were able to submit our order, and the bartender assiduously solicited our credit card for the tab even though we made it clear we were not drinking alcohol. We ordered the only two mocktails on the menu. Given that fewer people are drinking these days, we were surprised to find only two options and one non-alcoholic beer offering (a Peroni). There are so many good non-alcoholic beers out there that I would have expected better options. My poke special arrived relatively quickly, but we waited and waited for my husband's, and when we finally inquired, the bartender said he only thought we wanted one, even though I had clearly stated "two of the same." He also completely forgot our drinks. His apology seemed perfunctory, and there was no offer to comp any part of the meal. I felt so bad for my husband that I gave me the rest of mine and then had to wait when his arrived, so our meal was completely offset. The poke special was delicious and plentiful, and the mocktails were very good. But I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, and I am more likely to try to eat away from LACMA rather than return. In general, the dining options at LACMA are really poor. They have huge swathes of empty space that you could easily fill with more tables and some food carts. It's also really tacky to have to walk past benches with ads for personal injury lawyers. read more

I ordered the shellfish ceviche, steak katsu, and olallieberry tart. The ceviche had scallop, shrimp and octopus in a tangy wasabi lime vinaigrette. 3pm late lunch Monday 4/27/26 in restaurant took multiple long intervals waiting to place order, receive food, ask for water, report issue with food. Majority of time no server in sight. Focaccia never arrived so after receiving our dishes I had to ask random non-server to cancel focaccia. Burger & fries ok however terrible Crouching Tiger salad with dry leftover cold chicken, wilted spinach, sour dressing, missing most ingredients listed on menu (peanuts, tangerine, red cabbage). Hope a manager takes action, as the menu looks promising and we'll be coming to LACMA often (only came here as the LACMA restaurant is now closed). If we wanted food, we had to go to the restaurant which was on a limited menu for Valentines Day. She got our order incorrect not once but twice and it was literally 2 pastries and 2 drinks. The staff (hostess, bartenders, servers) were sweet and clearly trying their best, but it was obvious they hadn't been properly trained. We were seated last-minute and running a little behind, but instead of accommodating us graciously, the manager literally stood over our table at 7:30 with his backpack on, making it crystal clear he had somewhere else to be. We were still taking our last bites and finishing our cocktails when we were practically shooed out before their closing at 7:45. Nothing says "we value our customers" like a manager who prioritizes his own evening plans over the guest experience! Now, the food? Solid. We had the burger, steak frites, salmon, and jidori chicken, and everything hit the mark. But here's the catch: if you want to enjoy it in a nice setting, you'd better be willing to eat dinner at 5 PM. Because despite arriving in time for last food orders, we weren't allowed to sit in the actual dining room and had to eat in the café side--which, let's be honest, is not where you want to sip a martini and enjoy a nice meal. This was my 2nd time eating at Franny's and I'll definitely be coming back for more On this visit they had a special Sunday Supper Menu with an Italian theme in honor of the Godfather Exhibit. This restaurant is located inside of the Academy Museum and is ideal if you're attending a screening or visiting the Academy museum, or even LACMA or The Petersen across the street. In the front of the restaurant, there's a very casual coffee and snacks area with some gorgeous pastries and baked goods, and large wooden tables. As you walk further back, you will see to the left the beautifully lit fine dining experience. I made a reservation via RESY, and it was probably a very good idea because the restaurant was almost full around 6 PM. The screening started at 7:30 and the server was quite kind and suggested that we get out of the dinner at 7pm because there would be a line for the open seat screening. I had an excellent cocktail, the El PadRino. It's made with El Tesoro Blanco, amaretto, juliette peach, and lemon. All the names of the items on the menu are cinema themed. The menu is super cute with fun illustrations on it. This made me want to read the whole menu. I really liked the penne vodka, which is called FROM RUSSIA WITH SPICY VODKA. It's rigatoni with stracciatella and basil. My friend enjoyed his PATHS OF JIDORI CHICKEN: potato purée, baby carrots and natural jus Jidori chicken. The mixed fried appetizer to start, CINEMA FRITTO MISTO, has calamari, shrimp, shishito peppers, sauce eribiche with calamari and vegetables. It's really good and it's basically a very light tempura. Not greasy at all, fresh and crispy. To be honest, I would have the penne vodka again in a second. It was delicious. They served us very quickly and brought everything at once in order that we could finish our meal in an hour. Next time, I would probably book about 1 hour and 45 minutes before a screening because they recommend to grab a theater seat 30 minutes before the screenings start, and an hour just isn't quite enough to enjoy a meal. The service was fast and courteous and I'd like to go back and look upstairs in the restaurant because they have a lot of original illustrations of movie costumes on the walls and all kinds of film stills and Hollywood cinema photographs around the dining room. It's definitely worth a walk around to see all that inside the restaurant. The bar is nice also, and the scene looks quite happening and fun as well. If you take an Uber (I did) they can drop you off right in front of the restaurant entrance on Fairfax. But there's also parking in the museum for about $20-$21 and across the street at the Petersen for the same price. My friend parked his car a couple blocks away, north on 6th Street near the park for free. I was a little confused with the check because they offered a 10% discount with a ticket for the screening, but that was sort of negated with an additional "Healthy LA" (5.00%) fee for employee healthcare. Wish they would just integrate the healthcare fee into the menu prices; it's so confusing. I've heard it's quite common, but I don't see this very often. The restaurant isn't exactly cheap and one appetizer to split plus 2 main courses (a pasta and a chicken dish) and two cocktails with the tip was about $160. But it was a memorable evening and the screening inside at the Geffen Theater was fantastic, with a Q&A featuring Rita Moreno and a 70mm showing of West Side Story! read more

Order the lobster bisque if they have it: it's heaven in a 4-inch plastic container. (If no one's watching, pick up the container, put it to your lips and nirvana won't be far off.) Great spot inside the Academy museum! If you get hungry after walking around the museum for several hours, this is the spot to satisfy your hunger. I went to the cafe part of Fanny's and you can order at the counter and when I went, there was plenty of seating. Fairly slow and I also saw one of the cooks popping little pieces of food into his mouth with his bare hands. Seemed kind of unsanitary for people to just be snacking and cooking at the same time. Also, they charged me a $1 extra for oat milk in an espresso macchiato. For those who don't know, that's just a shot of espresso and a dollop (tiny spoonful) of foam. My first time dining at Fanny's was very disappointing. The food was mostly good, but unfortunately the slow, poor service overshadowed the food. It began while trying to get a table. There were two host stations setup, one outside the restaurant in the lobby of the museum and another between the cafe and bar areas. As we approached, at 1:30pm on a Saturday, there were no employees at either station. We had to wait, with other patrons, confused, until we reached out to an employee to clarify, who was curt and wondered why we and the other customers were confused. So as the dozen or so customers realized the system, a large line began to form for the inside host station. Without an employee, the line grew and the small space between the bar and host station became crowded. Wait staff with plates full of food had to maneuver around the waiting customers. When an employee finally arrived after 10-15 minutes of waiting, instead of taking everyone's name and table size, the manager decided to wait and seat each table individually. After I gave the manager my party size, I was asked to wait by the host stand. I waited another 10 minutes by the stand to be seated. In total we spent 35-40 minutes waiting around the front of the restaurant to get a table. Why can't Fanny's be like normal restaurant with a host who greets you wheyou arrive, you give them a party size and they give you an eta and call name or texts When your table is available? I mean this place has only been open for three years now? I told the host / manager we had a child in the party. Once we were seated, we did not receive a kids menu. I asked the seating hostess for one, specifically. Some time Later when the waiter returned to take our drink orders, I had to ask for the kids menu again. When the drinks arrived, I had to ask for a kids menu a third time. It took an inordinate amount of time to put our order in and an equally inordinate amount of for our food to arrive. Our server never returned to check in nor to clear our plates when finished, the. We had to flag him down for our check. The food was good, but should be given the price point and location. I enjoyed The meatball appetizer and my wife enjoyed the vodka sauce pasta. As an academy museum member, I will be returning to Fanny's but hope the service improves dramatically. read more

I got an iced chai latte and it was super grainy and just not very good lol but their alcoholic drinks were amazing. the menus are cute but you can definitely get better coffee in the area. the service was fine, the staff seemed pretty confused and frazzled but it was a Saturday so that's understandable.
