3pm late lunch Monday 4/27/26 in restaurant took multiple long intervals waiting to place order, receive food, ask for water, report issue with food. Majority of time no server in sight. Focaccia never arrived so after receiving our dishes I had to ask random non-server to cancel focaccia. Burger & fries ok however terrible Crouching Tiger salad with dry leftover cold chicken, wilted spinach, sour dressing, missing most ingredients listed on menu (peanuts, tangerine, red cabbage). Hope a manager takes action, as the menu looks promising and we'll be coming to LACMA often (only came here as the LACMA restaurant is now closed). A restaurant right in the middle of a number of tourist attractions. A very boujee restaurant with outdoor seatings. The main course is alright but the desert pastry is a must try. The server are so nice, as we had a little bday surprise. Fairly slow and I also saw one of the cooks popping little pieces of food into his mouth with his bare hands. Seemed kind of unsanitary for people to just be snacking and cooking at the same time. Also, they charged me a $1 extra for oat milk in an espresso macchiato. For those who don't know, that's just a shot of espresso and a dollop (tiny spoonful) of foam. It's no extra charge for a whole milk dollop but a full $1 for approximately three cents worth of oat milk? Pretty ridiculous, if you ask me. Nobody likes to be nickel and dimed. Loveee Olga! I came while visiting the Academy Museum and had some time to kill before my slot. I sat in a good service area because the vibe Olga and her pal (cancer zodiac sign, forgot her name!) Gave made the ambiance the best. We all discussed the menu and they gave me a run down on items to try and fun things to do while at the museum. I had their street taco special and a beer. My first time dining at Fanny's was very disappointing. The food was mostly good, but unfortunately the slow, poor service overshadowed the food. It began while trying to get a table. There were two host stations setup, one outside the restaurant in the lobby of the museum and another between the cafe and bar areas. As we approached, at 1:30pm on a Saturday, there were no employees at either station. We had to wait, with other patrons, confused, until we reached out to an employee to clarify, who was curt and wondered why we and the other customers were confused. So as the dozen or so customers realized the system, a large line began to form for the inside host station. Without an employee, the line grew and the small space between the bar and host station became crowded. Wait staff with plates full of food had to maneuver around the waiting customers. When an employee finally arrived after 10-15 minutes of waiting, instead of taking everyone's name and table size, the manager decided to wait and seat each table individually. After I gave the manager my party size, I was asked to wait by the host stand. I waited another 10 minutes by the stand to be seated. In total we spent 35-40 minutes waiting around the front of the restaurant to get a table. Why can't Fanny's be like normal restaurant with a host who greets you wheyou arrive, you give them a party size and they give you an eta and call name or texts When your table is available? I mean this place has only been open for three years now? I told the host / manager we had a child in the party. Once we were seated, we did not receive a kids menu. I asked the seating hostess for one, specifically. Some time Later when the waiter returned to take our drink orders, I had to ask for the kids menu again. When the drinks arrived, I had to ask for a kids menu a third time. It took an inordinate amount of time to put our order in and an equally inordinate amount of for our food to arrive. Our server never returned to check in nor to clear our plates when finished, the. We had to flag him down for our check. The food was good, but should be given the price point and location. I enjoyed The meatball appetizer and my wife enjoyed the vodka sauce pasta. As an academy museum member, I will be returning to Fanny's but hope the service improves dramatically. read more

I got an iced chai latte and it was super grainy and just not very good lol but their alcoholic drinks were amazing. the menus are cute but you can definitely get better coffee in the area. the service was fine, the staff seemed pretty confused and frazzled but it was a Saturday so that's understandable. We had lunch before visiting the museum. I liked the maroon colored and wooden dining furniture with comfortable chairs and the caricatures on the walls. I found a drawing of a Pink Panther! I ordered a goat cheese, squash, nut, and mint tartine. It all worked perfectly together, I'm glad I tried something different! My husband ordered the lobster Cobb salad, my daughter ordered meatballs and chicken minestrone soup and my mother in law had the BELT with fries. I enjoyed tasting the meatballs. I also had a drink called the Wicked, vodka with banana liqueur, strawberry and cream foam. It tasted a little tart at first but once I mixed it up, it tasted better. Came here before seeing a screening at the academy museum. They were accommodating at getting us to our movie on time which was great (apparently the pork chop takes a long time and so they advised against it if we were on a time crunch). The food was good, however, the risotto was a smaller portion than we would have liked. We also ordered focaccia and it never came (we weren't charged for it though so we weren't mad). The decor inside is very nice and I liked the lighting. Definitely want to try some of their bakery items to go -- those looked delicious. Great place to go if you are planning to go to the Academy museum too. There's a cafe but there is also a restaurant where you can dine-in. I came during LA week and we ordered off of the special menu which came with dessert. Our lunch was delicious and the perfect portion of food. One thing about the dishes is that they can't make accommodations to the dishes for someone who is being health conscious which was a little disappointing. I loved my lobster cobb odyssey salad. The flavors were very bold and fresh. The calamari that they had was a bit soggy so I wasn't quite a fan of it. I really enjoyed the crispy squash flowers. The sauce was delicious. My husband did not enjoy the burger. It was not flavorful and a bit dry. Our service was good. We had an attentive server however we noticed that other tables were getting frustrated from waiting for their server to come at the end of our meal. We went to Fanny's out of convenience, since we were at the LACMA and Museum of Motion Pictures. It was a very clean place and nicely decorated. The staff is decently friendly, not the most patient as I'm sure they see lots of tourists. I would have liked it if they could explain how things work at the restaurant but I guess you should do some research. So there are things that can be ordered off the menu and those you order at the register and will be brought to your table. The items that are behind the glass on the counter as you stand in line, you will receive immediately at the register. They give you a number if you order things off the menu so the servers can bring the items to you. I can honestly say this salad was THE BEST salad I have ever had. I have not stopped raving!!! I know a salad... but it's the variety of herbs along with the citrusy vinaigrette that made the salad so divine! The chicken was perfectly cooked, seasoned nicely, and paired perfectly with the salad. Every bite was refreshing! My wife ordered the ham sandwich, which she enjoyed. The sandwich was a good quality and the freshly fried potato chips were delicious! I also ordered a chocolate croissant not pictured but very good. My favorite pastry was the Diplomat berry vol au vent. The poppyseed muffin was a little bland with the exception of the lemon filling. I would love to go back and try more pastries. read more

I've had drinks at Fanny's a couple of times but had never eaten there until recently. It's a little on the pricey side but, as it turns out, worth it. A friend and I split the Caesar salad ($20) and steak frites ($58) but they were both very generous portions and plenty for two. The Caesar uses baby gem lettuce instead of romaine and the croutons were deluxe. The steak was especially good, a 12 ounce striploin with a green peppercorn sauce. So tender we didn't even need the steak knives they brought us. But don't fill up until they bring the dessert cart around. Beside the classics like lemon tarts, they have a purple cheesecake made with purple ube yams which sounds strange but tastes delicious - not too sweet, lovely texture. And the room itself is really lovely. Make it part of your next trip to the Academy Museum or just go for Fanny's alone. read more

This review is three years overdue. Better late than never, amirite? We've been coming to Fanny's since the Academy Museum opened. It's the perfect spot to grab a bite pre or post Academy screenings ($4-10 films - sometimes free!). We've seen this restaurant through its short "getting-up-on-its-feet" period and I'm so glad we stuck it through. What we love: - it's right next to the Academy Museum and LACMA - they'll even make sure you don't miss your movie - food is consistently great (a little bit on the pricier side, but hey it's LA) - the ambience - from the comfy seating, backdrop of all things film, moody-but-you-can-still-see lighting, ambient music - the service is impeccable - everyone here CARES BONUS: Most of the people who work here seems to be a film nerd like moi making conversations so fun. Visited the Museum of Motion Pictures this Friday, and decided to eat at Fanny's since the menu looked nice, and it meant not leaving the museum. That was absolutely the best idea ever! The ambience is extremely nice, clean, and open. And, being the museum, it incorporates a lot of motion picture elements in the restaurant decoration, making it quite interesting and attractive. (I also noticed a completely set DJ turntable behind me, which makes me think they have events with music every now and then.) The food was fantastic! My wife and I shared the Focaccia, the Frito Misto, and the lobster pasta. And every single one of these was delicious. To the point we only left some of the focaccia, and made it a point to take it home. (By the way, you can leave the leftovers in bag check on the lower level while seeing the rest of the museum.) And our service was 5 stars, like I haven't seen in a LONG time! Our waiter, Meredyth, was just phenomenal from top to bottom, as were the bus people. Meredyth was also extremely nice and attentive, professional but personal. And, the cherry on top, which I'd honestly never seen: after offering to pack our leftover focaccia, she took the time to write outside box the contents of the box and the date! I do that at home myself, to help figure out what it is later, and this alone will made my life SO much easier. Food came out quickly. And, while not cheap, it wasn't that crazy, especially considering what we got and where. It was a meal that made us want to revisit anytime we're nearby, hopefully with the same amazing waiter. And one I was happy to tip quite a lot, with a smile in my face! Items we tried: Focaccia bread - HIGHLY recommend. It was so light and fluffy and the pictures on here don't do it justice. It is a dream and the butter is even better. Burrata- very good. It might be a little on the small side, however, lots of flavor and the presentation was beautiful. I don't have a picture because we were enjoying it so much and I honestly forgot to take one. I really wouldn't describe this place as a diner as it's a bit too fancy (I think American would be more accurate) and also I added a coffee bar as well as the front of this place is a coffee place with some pastries. We asked about ordering food outside of the coffee menu and the woman in front said that it was a separate area for dine in which was fine. The space inside is nice and doesn't really feel like you're inside of a museum. The male server we had was friendly and came over pretty often but not too much. The menu of course as it's connected to a movie museum has many of it's dishes named after various films. The seasonal cocktails were all named after the 10 best picture nominees and there was otherwise a drink/other cocktail menu as well as a specials menu. I was originally going to get the niçoise salad but there was a special on the menu which was a Filet Bowl. This consisted of sliced filet mignon over rice with teriyaki, sesame, and roasted broccoli along with a poached egg on top as well as some pickled carrots/ daikon and gari/sushi ginger. It was $25 which was pricey of course but it was a filet mignon bowl so of course it was a bit expensive and the salad by comparison was only a buck or two less with the burger being a buck more. This steak was well flavored and not too sweet and pretty tender. I think the portion could have been a bit bigger as it was cut into rather tiny chunks but it was still good. The sesame added a little nuttiness and I liked the roasted broccoli on the side which had a tiny char to it. There was also a bit of sweetness from the pickled vegetables and I had a bit of the sushi ginger which worked well with the bowl. The other person just had a coffee which they liked and they filled it up more without charge. They roll around a dessert cart for others which is essentially selections from their cafe section but we weren't hungry for anything else. The food here was pretty tasty. We arrived when it was busy, so we opted to sit at the bar. We were able to submit our order, and the bartender assiduously solicited our credit card for the tab even though we made it clear we were not drinking alcohol. We ordered the only two mocktails on the menu. Given that fewer people are drinking these days, we were surprised to find only two options and one non-alcoholic beer offering (a Peroni). There are so many good non-alcoholic beers out there that I would have expected better options. My poke special arrived relatively quickly, but we waited and waited for my husband's, and when we finally inquired, the bartender said he only thought we wanted one, even though I had clearly stated "two of the same." He also completely forgot our drinks. His apology seemed perfunctory, and there was no offer to comp any part of the meal. I felt so bad for my husband that I gave me the rest of mine and then had to wait when his arrived, so our meal was completely offset. The poke special was delicious and plentiful, and the mocktails were very good. But I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, and I am more likely to try to eat away from LACMA rather than return. In general, the dining options at LACMA are really poor. They have huge swathes of empty space that you could easily fill with more tables and some food carts. They don't have nonfat or 2% milk, a piece of info the owner does not share nicely or apologetically. They made the wrong coffee, twice. The first time it was iced not steamed. The second time it was lukewarm not steamed despite the fact that I asked for the milk to be steamed 3 times. Their largest coffee size is TINY. And it's $7. THE COFFEE DRIPPED ALL OVER MY CLOTHES BECAUSE THE CHEAP CUP THEY SOLD ME FOR $7 was faulty. Oh, and they don't even have WiFi. Their ONLY advantage is that they're in the middle of a museum. Picked up a few pastries and a cold brew this morning and at $36 was not impressed. Pistachio olive oil cake has an overpowering artificial taste. Pistachio oil or almond extract? It was also very crumbly. Would never buy again. Walnut brownie was disappointingly 1/4 inch tall and texturally weird. Crunchy on top but almost raw on the bottom. Would never buy again. Biscuit is solid but in no world should it cost $9. I would recommend that out of all 3 items I have tried. Black cold brew was good, on par with Starbucks. Hesitant to try any more treats on my next Academy Museum trips. read more

That's how much this tiny "bowl" of soup cost at Fanny's. I went there a few weeks ago with a friend - his idea, not mine, and clearly, I didn't belong. Fifteen dollars for "beef and farro" soup. I never get soup, but this was the cheapest thing on the menu and I figured that for fifteen dollars, it would at least be a huge portion. No. It was a few sips with four tiny pieces of beef, smaller than dice. If you want people who aren't rich to avoid your café, it would be better to just put up a sign saying "if you make less than $100,000 a year, we don't want your kind sullying our premises.
