240V EV Charger Installation -- Done Well and at a Reasonable Price in San Diego David was our installer and he was sharp, professional, neat, and tidy. He patiently answered all my rookie questions and helped me better understand our system. And every person I spoke to, texted, or emailed with at Faraday was pleasant, professional, and genuinely trying to help. Our condo presented a real puzzle -- multiple challenges stacked on top of each other: 1. A 100A unit limit (calculated by Faraday after examining our building's electrical panel), which capped the circuit at 40A max 2. Our circuit box is in the bedroom on the 2nd level; the charger needed to go on the 1st level 3. No direct access between the bedroom and garage 4. No adjacent open slots in the circuit box David assessed the situation and presented a clear, workable plan: rearrange circuits in the box, cut a few strategic holes in the ceiling and walls to route wire across the room, through the floor, and into the garage. What gave me confidence going in: Faraday had done the same kind of job for one of our neighbors here in the Kearny Mesa area back in 2021. They were kind enough to let me see how the project turned out. They gave it the thumbs up -- and there wasn't a trace of the installation process anywhere. Just a clean, finished result. David is in high demand and is a dedicated worker, so our schedule timing didn't initially align for his first visit -- that was our only hiccup. He came back for the installation about a week later and wrapped it up in roughly two hours. He was neat, tidy, and respectful of our home throughout. The holes he made were designed to be easy to patch and paint, and he left them clean and stable until I have time to get around to it. My wife offered him lunch while he was working; he said he'd rather finish the job first and take it with him -- which he did. (My kind of work ethic -- and honestly my vote too. ) TIP: If in San Diego, research the SDG&E Pricing Plans; we chose EV-TOU-5. We have not received a full bill yet, but we're hopeful charging during Super Off-Peak hours helps. Caveat: I'm no electrician; I may have mixed up Amps/Volts/Watts references :)

Contacted Faraday Electric through the Tesla recommendation website which connected me to their Texas office. Had a conversation with Victor, who told me what he needed (pictures of location for the ev charger and of my breaker box). Within an hour he sent me a quote and told me they have an opening the next day. Their tech, scheduled for a 2-hour window, apologized for being late. She realized that she had grabbed the wrong supplies for what I needed. I had no problem with it since my wife hadn't received her car yet. In all was happy with the work she did.

Updated Review: I'm updating my review because, although the initial installation of the Tesla Wall Charger was done well, the follow-up experience was disappointing. After just six months, the charger stopped working. When I called the company, they quoted me around $150 just to inspect it, and said it could cost another $200 or more to reinstall it. What they failed to mention is that the charger was still under Tesla's warranty. All I needed to do was contact Tesla via the 1-800 number or request service through the Tesla app. Tesla promptly sent me a full replacement unit that was incredibly simple to install--just a matter of popping off the faceplate and replacing it. I feel this company was not upfront with information and would not use them again due to the lack of honesty.

Others had their holes patched when done. Easy fix but better quality expected for a job that cost almost two grand.

Pros: they were able to install my 100amp EV charger. Charger works as it should. Installer was knowledgeable and courteous. Con: seems they are just a middle man that outsources other electric companies to do their work in San Antonio. The estimated cost for the service changed 3 different times and more than doubled by the time the work was done. They had to come multiple times to finish the work as they didn't have all the materials needed. They had the charger model and knew the required amp needed besides the fact we spoke about it at the beginning. Return to finish work went from a couple of weeks to about a month. Luckily they left the charger usable during that time. For the price the work was not as clean I would have expected. Sent pictures about the work and no attempt was made to make it right. Sadly I will not be advising others to use this company.

This business is unprofessional about the work. I was asked to take photos about my main panel and sub-panel, along with the parking location. After providing such photos, the team decides to install the Tesla charger on the sub-panel (which is the mistake). After the installation, we constantly have issues with the charging process. While discussing with my friends and neighbors, we realized that if this were installed on the main panel, nothing would break and things would be much smoother. Realizing this, I contacted the business and they acknowledged this mistake, but required us to pay additional $350 for their mistake. I refused.

Not sure how this company has a 4.6-star rating... I contacted Faraday to get a quote on installing a Tesla Wall Charger in my garage. Within minutes of submitting pictures and information into their online application, I had a call from "Rudy" promising me they could come to my house the next day to install the charger and that they would even "waive" their normal pick up fee. I explained that I wanted the job permitted and told him that I had some reservations about reviews that I had been seeing in Yelp regarding lack of follow-through. Rudy explained that there had been a hiccup with one of their personnel that was key in the permitting process, but that it was resolved. Based on his assurances, I said we could move forward, but only after they had secured the permit from my local jurisdiction. I paid extra for them to process the permit. A couple weeks later, permit in hand, we scheduled the job. Their electrician arrived on time, did the installation, and the charger worked as expected. I provided feedback at that time, that I wasn't totally jazzed about how they routed the conduit from the electrical panel to the charger. Specifically, instead of running the conduit 6 inches higher on top of the open joists of my garage, the conduit passed right next to the rail of my garage door opener. The response made it sound like this was required, but having extensive contracting experience, I know that running conduit over the joists was not required by code and will only make replacing the garage door opener more difficult in the future. The real problem here is that they took my $$$ to permit the job, but never followed up on closing out the permit. Never scheduled an inspection and never responded to my communications after I had already paid. I guess their permit-scam is still ongoing and thankfully the local electrical inspector let me close out the permit without their participation.

From the estimate to the final work done, Faraday Electric was wonderful. I was having an EV charger installed in my garage. Victor called to discuss the estimate, which is the most detailed estimate I have every received, and answer any questions I had. Tesla Wall Charger installation 2 months ago, initial visit was fine and we were satisfied with the service, until last week when trying to charge had a "Charging Error - No Power" and Charging Equipment not ready. Reached back out to Faraday with our issue and they scheduled a service visit, cancelled day of only to reschedule for another day and then cancel again. We selected Faraday Electric because they were on the Yelp Guaranteed list as well as the Tesla Certified Installer list and, while we paid a little more than other contractors, we wanted the peace of mind of a reputable company. We are still hopeful of a resolution but have still not heard back from Faraday Electric that they will stand by the quality of their workmanship read more

Absolutely the worst business I have ever dealt with--unresponsive, dishonest, and completely unprofessional. Faraday Electric is a scam. They quoted me one price, but when the technician arrived, he tried to change the price and refused to complete the install at the agreed-upon contract price until I called the office to intervene. Part of the service I paid for included handling the permit, but after my install on June 21, 2024, I never heard back from them about it. I called every month until September when someone finally answered and said they would work with the permit department. Weeks went by again with no response. In October, an electrician just dropped off paperwork at my door for the city permit instead of handling it properly. When the city came for inspection, they said the work was incomplete and failed inspection. Faraday promised to send an electrician on December 19 to fix the issue, but they no-showed with no follow-up. Since then, I have called, left voicemails, and sent messages--zero response. They take your money and disappear. Avoid this company at all costs! read more

I had a pretty good experience with this company. It was straight forward and we asked for a quote via messages. I sent them pictures of my garage and the breaker which they helped me figure out the Amps and Voltage. The estimate process is top notch and this company has it down in terms of speed. I can see how people's experience varies because each installer varies based on your area and some aren't technically licensed electricians they just install a bunch of these chargers for a living. I believe the company is associated with Tesla and probably has some type of license/contract though. Overall I was able to get the charger installed and in a way that made sense. But I do support the other comments about inspecting the work and making sure it's satisfactory. I felt the customer service was fair and they stood by their product and made it right when I brought up issues that I wanted fixed. But I recommend standing there with the installer to make sure he knows where to put the charger. The installers don't always have the most up to date contract so you should verify those details before he plugs holes in your wall. Just be kind about it and I found them to be fair/customer service focused. read more

Avoid Faraday Electric at all costs. While their initial installation of my Tesla wall connector was done well, their dishonesty became clear six months later. They contacted me, offering to obtain the necessary permit for the installation, and I paid them for this service. However, they never provided the permit. After numerous unreturned calls, I finally reached them, only to be given excuse after excuse, with promises to follow up that they never kept. Frustrated, I contacted my city's Building and Safety department--only to discover that Faraday Electric had never even applied for the permit in the first place. Despite requesting a refund for the service they never provided, they refused to return my money. This company is deceptive and untrustworthy--save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere. read more

When I reached out to Faraday electric for an estimate to install my Tesla wall charger, I received a very quick response. Victor was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. It was great that I could send an pictures of my electric panel set up and where I wanted to install the charger. Victor asked me for additional information and was able to give a detailed estimate in a short period of time. After comparing them to other companies they provided me with the most reasonable price. I wanted to have my charger installed as soon as possible and I got an appointment right away. They came two days later on Saturday. Abel was the electrician who came to install it for me. He was very professional and installed it in about 45 mins. He did a great job and I highly recommend Faraday electric. Service tech had a very bad attitude. Customer service was horrible. Couldn't even answer a simple question. I greeted him with a smile and kindness and got nothing but rudeness. I paid to have a permit for the installation of my Tesla wall connector, they took my money and never paid the city for the permit. Now, they won't return my phone calls! When I had another electrician come look at it, he was concerned with the way they reconfigured the breakers in my home. Submitted some pictures online via their web interface last Saturday. Within half an hour got a work proposal from them. Signed some documents online and then received appointment on the following Monday. I was pleasantly surprised that they are able to give me a time slot so quickly. I was informed on Monday that the installer, Andrew, would arrive at 8:10am, and he sure arrived on time. He took some time to lay down his gears and at the same time gave me a quick walkthrough of the job. He mentioned that he'd need to move some breakers around order to make space for a bigger breaker that he will put in the panel. There was a brief power outage in the house, but it affected only a few circuits and the down time was kept minimal. He completed the job well within the estimated time, and also programmed (commissioned?) the charger for operation. He stayed and watched a test charging session. It worked flawlessly. He left after I ran out of questions to ask him. It was only after he left that I contacted the company to see my payment options. They accepted electronic payments so within seconds I sent the payment online. Soon after that I got the receipt. I would not hesitate to recommend Faraday Electric EV to all of my friends who need this type of work done. read more

My experience with Faraday was pretty seamless. The work was to install a Tesla Wall Charger. Some of the preliminary work was done over text, all documentation was done electronically as well. After initial discussions, an appointment was made for the next day, and the tech, Christian, came out and made it happen in under 40 minutes. Workmanship was on point, and their follow-up was swift. Super helpful electrician made the trek from LA to install our wall charger. Faraday was listed at the top of the Tesla recommendation list and so I had no reason to second guess choosing them. The quote they gave me was the price paid, no surprises, and they listed out factors that would have changed the quote ahead of time, so I doubt there could have been surprises unless a possum was living in the wall behind the planned spot or something. Giovani was prompt, kind, and efficiently explained how to operate the device. Can't imagine it having gone better. read more

Very satisfied with the prompt and high quality work by Faraday Electric! First, loved their sophisticated online quote request process which requires couple of photos of my main panel, garage etc. Within one biz day, I received the initial quote and with couple of text/email exchanges, I quickly agreed with Russel on a reasonable cost. Then in the same way, electricians (Carlos and Omar) came to my house and got my home charger installed perfectly on my garage wall in about one hour! Carlos did a great job to evaluate my existing panels incl. solar and power wall panel, gave me very honest recommendation which aligned with my preference. I was thinking if 4.5 stars since I was not completely happy with the scheduling. The representative was very helpful until the time I said I'd hire them, then no one called me back for scheduling. They just sent me something to sign without getting back with me about the actual time of the job. Nonetheless, the job was done right away! I am very satisfied so far with the installation. Abel was professional and friendly. Did the work in less than an hour. There was a hole on the wall that he had to patch, but doesn't bother me much. Can just paint over it. Also they gave me a 50 dollar discount for some sort of Holiday special. Very good price for the job! read more

The price looks reasonable among all other options we quoted . We managed to get an appointment for the next day. They come on time and handled it professionally. Worked with Frank and Victor on the details and pricing- very professional and reasonably priced. Kevin and Carlos came out right on time and installed everything and did wonderful job. You can tell they were very experienced and had done many of the tesla wall charger installations. They were able to route wire and conduit from my backyard breaker box all the way to the garage and placed my wall charger in a perfect spot. They installed a new 60 amp breaker as well. They even replaced some screws I asked for the existing circuit box- went above and beyond. Great job guys - thanks. read more

I was looking for a Tesla charger installation. Tesla suggested that I get it installed by Faraday Electric for $800. I took their recommendation. I had to upload some photos of my electrical panel. After that, I got in touch with Faraday Electric, who quickly send someone to estimate the very next day. However, after estimating, the technician said that he could finish the job in 1.5/2 hours if I wanted it done right away. I agreed, and lo and behold, less than 2 hours later, I had home charging! I booked them to install NEMA 14-50 plug at my house because they were the cheapest quote. The technician showed up and installed the plug where I asked him however after he left I noticed he used old rusted used 50 amp breaker at my house. I called them for 7 times now asking them to come back and change it. And every single time I never hear back from them. One time they told me someone will show up on Tuesday between 8:00AM - 12:00pm but no one came by and I called them asking if they are going to make it and they said we will call u and they never did. So pleaseeeeeee Make sure you inspect everything before you pay them otherwise once they are gone from your house they will never return. PS: 2/7/23: I talked to Albert "the supervisor" and he said they will have someone come by to change the breaker on Thursday 2/9/23. I'll update this post of that ever happen. 2/8/23: I called them and talk to frank , he said he is going to send me a text for appointment confirmation for 2/9/23 between 8-10 AM, we will see if he send it or tomorrow will happen at all. I will wait until Thursday before I start the charge dispute on the bill. read more

A huge shout out to Brett for taking such great care of our Tesla wall connector installation. It randomly started raining here in Huntington Beach but he worked through it, was super time efficient, and friendly. Faraday Electric also had a great team communicating over email and phone. They were super responsive and actually took the time to let me know that my price was actually lower than what was quoted because Brett was able to figure out that the installation's distance from our panel was shorter than expected. My tenant had to live in a home with holes in the walls for almost a full month before it was finally repaired. The business operates very shadily. I have asked for a receipt for my payment numerous times, and he still has not provided one. I had to pay him in 3 separate transactions via zelle because his bank kept rejecting my payments. I went to most of the usual haunts - various lighting stores, department stores, even Ikea on someone's suggestion. While there was some OK stuff, I found nothing that wowed me. Doing another web search, I found Urban Lighting and made it down to the store. As nice as the pieces looked online, they even looked better in person. The staff let me know I could browse around at my leisure and to let them know if I had any questions. After looking at a few, I inquired about the pricing and found them a good value. Yeah, some were out of my budget, but I also found some that were in my range and very nice. Mark was extremely helpful in getting my order placed, and his recommendation of using Electric Green to install the light was a great choice. I know I'll be back when I'm redoing some other fixtures around the house, and can't wait to see what really cool items they have to show me. So if you're decorating a dorm room, this probably isn't the place. If you're decorating a home, though, you owe it to yourself to check this place out.

MICHAEL was the electrician who came out to install my Tesla Wall Connector. He came promptly on time, was very meticulous, and when I spoke with him he was very knowledgeable and professional in his experience and credibility. Very thorough, was not a hassle asking for a bunch of things - he actually did not ask for anything which was a bit surprising. I was more than happy to talk with him and offering some sparkling water as it was very hot and he worked so diligently. I let him know I plan to move homes in about 8 months so where I move, I won't call anyone else, and will call Rudy and Michael. Install - Tesla Wall Connector (L2 charger), twin breakers (my panel was maxed out), conduit for about 10' to my desired location in my garage Location - Sugar Land, TX I reached out to Faraday Electric EV for a quote and after providing photos and a brief description, I received a very detailed quote. Out of the five companies that I sent RFQs, Faraday had the most detail and was the least expensive. The sales team was very responsive and check in with me every few days to see if I had any questions. If I had a change that I wanted to price up (various locations for mounting the EV charger in my garage), they would send back a quote in 10-15 minutes, which was very helpful and extremely impressive. On the day of installation, the dispatch notified me that the tech had completed his previous job early and offered to move up my service time, which happened to be more convenient. The tech (Mr. Keari) arrived 10 minutes ahead of the appointment time and was very friendly. He went right to work, but still was able to have a great conversation. I was really impressed with Mr. Keari's work, as it was very clean and quick. I am now enjoying my Tesla Wall Connector and it is working great. Not only was Faraday Electric very quick and helpful, but their service was honestly unmatched. I had the pleasure and luck of being helped by Rudy who is not just extremely qualified but also very communicative and all around an amazing person. Rudy helped me with my estimate, my quotes, and made the entire transaction and process much less stressful. Installations like this are usually big decisions and require lots of patience and can become difficult--but that was not the case here. Immediately prior to the purchase of our first EV, I asked Faraday Electric for an estimate to install an EV Charger. I had an unusual situation because the original owner of my house had converted the garage into a workshop. We later added a drywall ceiling, which meant that the wire had to go from the sub panel, up through a crawl space attic, and out to the carport. After giving a short virtual tour of this area, and sending pictures of the subpanel and adjacent areas, we received a very detailed and reasonable estimate from Faraday. Once we purchased our EV, I encountered some difficulty in my preferred charger delivered. Faraday texted a website to use and scheduled installation, which went smoothly and quickly. Even though the original estimate called for a cut in the wall above the sub panel to reach the attic, the installers were able to snake the wire through, saving us a fair amount of money for repainting. The installer stayed with us until after I had configured the charging app and confirmed the level of charge being handled by my solar system. I hired this company based on a recommendation to handle the installation of my EV charger and the necessary permit process. While the installation itself was completed, they completely failed to follow through on securing the required permits, which was a key part of the agreement. After the installation was done, they stopped responding to my calls and emails and made no effort to finalize the permit process. Their lack of professionalism and accountability has caused me significant delays and additional expenses, as I now need to hire another company to complete the permit process that Faraday Electric was originally contracted to handle. Today, I had the pleasure of having Faraday Electric set up a third-generation Tesla Universal wall charger in my garage. This is my second installation in this space, and I only wish I had discovered Faraday Electric sooner. The technician, Giovanni, was outstanding in his professionalism and expertise, delivering an exceptional service. He skillfully installed a 60w breaker in my electrical panel and routed it via an underground path (through the crawl space) to the garage. Notably, Tesla had previously installed solar panels for me and advised against adding more load to the panel. Impressively, Giovanni promptly contacted Tesla to resolve this issue. I recently had Faraday Electric install my Tesla charger, and I couldn't be more pleased with their service. Initially, my options were limited to a 50 amp breaker on my current panel, which would have meant slower charging, or installing a subpanel for nearly $2,000. I recently had Faraday Electric install an EV charging outlet in my garage. The installation process was smooth and professional. They provided a comprehensive estimate report, arrived on time, and completed the installation cleanly and efficiently. However, my experience with their post-installation service has been disappointing. After a few days, the charging voltage dropped from 240 volts to 200 volts. When I contacted them, they suggested resetting the circuit, but this did not resolve the issue. Despite multiple attempts to reach out for further assistance, they have not responded for over a week. While their installation service is commendable, their lack of responsiveness and support post-installation is concerning. Amazing, efficient, detailed, very knowledgeable, fast and communicates well. I just got my 2021 Tesla Model Y on the 28th and the basic charger they give you only charges 3 miles per hour. Incredibly professional from start to finish. The detailed quote included everything that I would expect to have come across, and clearly outlined the work that was to be completed. Extremely easy to schedule the appointment, and the company was accommodating with regards to the time slots and our availability. Had Faraday Electric install my Tesla Wall Connector. Their quote was the best I had received and the constant professional contact was excellent. Russell Menendez and Frank responded to all of my questions and provided a very professional written quote that included all of the necessary information that was provided by Supervisor Jorge Porres. The Electrician, Carlos Davidson, was extremely professional and knowledgeable in the installation of the Tesla Wall Connector. The whole installation took less that 45 minutes. They were able to come out and install my Tesla wall charger the day after my Tesla M3P delivery which was great. The install went quickly and the tech was very friendly and helpful in answering any questions. He also helped me get the charger setup in the Tesla app, and ensured everything was working properly. The scheduling process was easy, the online form takes a bit of time but it's to make sure they can provide an accurate quote. When talking with them on the phone they helped explain the costs associated with various locations in my garage for the install, and helped me choose the one that provided the best value. read more

Seemed like good guys with lots of experience. They got the job done as agreed and with efficiency. I believe the price was fair and reasonable - they charged an initial flat fee for the work at the box and an additional flat fee for each foot of conduit from the box to the charging station (in this case in the garage). I would use them again for other electrical work. Of note: I first called another company (who also had tons of positive reviews on yelp) - that other company made it seem like it was a complex job and the rough quote that other company gave me was at least 5 times what I paid here. read more

I got a NEMA 14-50 installed for Tesla charging in a garage I'm renting. They walked me through the process, put together a plan that was approved by the Property Manager (I'm renting an apartment in Vista) first time around, and handled all the paperwork. The price was much better than expected considering I had to go through a sub-meter and they were prompt with all the responses and completed installation the day it was scheduled for without issues. I was going to go check up on the installation but instead came in to a neatly installed, working 14-50 socket and they were already done. read more

Wow! Within a couple of hours of submitting my pictures and bid request online on the weekend I got a call from Faraday. Another bidder said I needed a panel upgrade ($$) but Faraday didn't go that route. They walked me through my options and found a way to keep my current panel. Within a few minutes after our call I had a complete bid with graphics and diagrams and detailed scope of work. Hired! A few days later was my installation date. Faraday was on time, courteous, knowledgeable, and worked efficiently. A refreshing experience to work with a contractor of this caliber. read more
