VEGAN OPTIONS - Yes. But I often choose non-vegan options. The croissants are *too* good to pass up! I have enjoyed a number of things from this local bakery. First and foremost is the croissants - they are very very good. Super flaky and not overly buttery. Good flavour and texture. I've taken them home and reheated them with great success in a toaster oven (bake for about 2-3 minutes at 250 degrees). I prefer the plain croissant over the chocolate version - there is a very small amount of chocolate in there, and it's not very sweet. It's not bad at all, just not my jam. The plain one is where it's at. However, if you have the chance to score a Pumpkin Cheesecake croissant - DO IT! Seriously, this thing is worth the money. The filling is plentiful, the flavour is delicious, and if you take some home for later - it holds up well in an airtight container. You should probably refrigerate it, but I forgot and left it on the counter for 2 days, and it was totally fine. I'm not really into the chocolate walnut beer cookie, but for those that enjoy a noticeable beer flavour, I'm sure it will be a winner. The Kouign-amann selections are very nice - the plain and the seasonal varieties are always a solid choice. And finally, because I *REALLY* do not see enough reviews about this - the seasonal Chocolate Rye Pecan Pie is FANTASTIC!!! Seriously, we do Pecan Pie for every birthday in this house, and the one from Faria is actually worth the asking price (which is steep, but again, it's worth it). I wasn't sure what to expect from the chocolate rye crust - I was worried it would be dry and crumbly, but it was totally moist and super yummy. The pie filling is not too sweet, not too gooey, and not too much. The filling to crust ratio is wonderful. It's tasty as a solo treat, and goes well with whipped cream if you're into that. This pie is a hidden gem, and more people need to be aware of how truly well done it is. read more

Five stars for quality and taste for sure, but if you're using the app to preorder, be prepared for something to go wrong. Every time I arrive to pick up my order, I'm informed that they don't have one or more of the items I ordered and paid for in advance (this has happened four or five times). The good news is that they will give you a substitution, often for the same price as the missing item. Additionally, the pastries are so amazing I'm willing to accept this as the price of admission. I also liked the tomato galette (though I assume this is a seasonal item as they often change their items) and the black sesame financer. Everything very good! We got an assortment. Got a sourdough loaf, an olive & polenta loaf, almond croissant, buckwheat coffee cake, and 2 other assorted pastries with blueberries and strawberries. I've made sourdough and croissants and their prices are fine. So happy to pay for delicious well made bread. The bread is dark and I get that some may not like it, but we prefer it. We love the extra flavor of the darkly baked bread. Croissant was so crispy and buttery. Ordered 2 ham & cheese croissants and 1 chocolate croissant through Doordash. Croissants were good, but very skimpy on the fillings. Ham & cheese were only on one side of the croissant, and very little of it. Same with the chocolate. A couple of small pieces of chocolate, but mostly bread. Went in for the Friday donut and my goodness it was delicious. Not over the top sweet but sweet enough to not want to put it down until it's gone. Prior to stopping to get lunch. My friend and I stopped here for a little snack. There was a table set up outside with examples of all the unique types of breads and muffins. For the size of bread that my friend received the price was worth it. As well as tasted great. Nice and polite staff. A friend dropped off a bunch of mystery pastries from Farias during covid and when I opened it up it felt like a mystery box full of treasure. The pastries looked like art pieces. I know I'm being extra. But you can see how many layers of flakey puff pastry there is, showing the incredible technique and finesse that goes into the very foundations of each pastry. it was a masterpiece. In the box, there were croissants, the sausage roll, some kind of s'more cookie, apple turnover-type pastry. They were all very delicious. My friends and I were in a bad mood so to receive the box of goodies was a total gift. Even after a few days, the pastries can be heated up in the oven and they're so crisp and delicious. I've also received a loaf of bread from here! Similarly, I couldn't finish it...I had to freeze the loaf--sorry if this is an abomination to artisan breadmakers to just stick a fresh loaf into a freezer like that. What I liked: My favorite bakery in the Bay Area only sells Olive Bread once a week, which is a giant pain. Overall I'd give the olive bread at Faria a 5/5 compared to olive bread at regular grocery stores, but a 3.5/5 compared to the olive bread at Backhaus. My fiancee loved the pb&j croissant as well. Trying to support another small local business during these difficult times, I saw that Faria Bakery in Oak Park was offering a pre-order option. I decided to place an order for an almond croissant, a plain croissant, and a pain du chocolate. After I placed my order through their online system, I walked over to the bakery. Following all recommended safety precautions, the bakery had placed strips of tape outside of the store and customers waited on a strip of tape until their order was ready. The entire process was fast and efficient. When I got home, I enjoyed an almond croissant with my morning coffee. It was absolutely delicious. Over the next two days I also enjoyed the plain croissant and the pain du chocolate. Again, both were tasty; flaky and buttery deliciousness. On a sidenote, I was thoroughly impressed with their generosity and customer service. When I initially walked over to the bakery to pick up my order, I had passed a few homeless encampments. When I got to the bakery, I asked if they had any extra bread that I could buy to give to the individuals I saw as I walked over. Ready to pay for the extra bread, the bakery gave me the three loaves of bread at no charge. I was floored by this gesture. The individuals who received the bread were beyond grateful and just the small act of kindness from this bakery, restored some of the hope and positivity I feel we have lost at this time. Meh. We were really excited to finally find a place that sold Caneles. But man... These were burnt and TINY. $6.50 for the world's smallest burnt canele. Super disappointing. We also tried the Morning Bun (stale, even at 9am which was when we came to visit for the first time), and the Kouign-Amann which was AMAZING. Highly recommend this salty-sweet delight! We love pastries. We were just really let down with everything else we ordered. We won't be back, but if you do stop by, get the Kouign-Amann! The bread is good and I went back the second time to buy at the farmers market that is held Saturday. There was a lot of people but I was first in line at the time and they skipped over me once. Since the bakery itself is further from where I live and hours are somewhat limited, I made efforts to go visit them at the Roseville Farmers Market. Unfortunately each time I was free to go, they weren't there! I knew Easter Weekend was my last chance, so I went down to the store front. I get there and they were out of hot cross buns. Sadness and sorrow. Ok luckily I looked at their menus and wanted to order the kouign amann. Unfortunately sold out too. Ok so they're pretty popular, which is promising. Only thing left were croissants so I ordered a ham and cheese AND an almond croissant cuz YOLO. Also ordered sandwiches for my friends. And coffee, cuz coffee and pastries are perfect together. I wait, get my coffee, my name gets called, they hand me my bag and tell me I'm good to go. Imagine my surprise when I get to my friends' house and there are NO CROISSANTS. I felt so sad. I should have checked my bag, but when someone hands me something and says I'm good to go, I trust them. Now I have to wait another year for hot cross buns. Not sure when I'll head back to the store but I now know I gotta be there super early in order to try the pastries of my choice. On another note, the sandwiches were DELICIOUS. The bread here is ridiculously overpriced and darn near burnt on the outside. $14 for a loaf AND they expect a tip?! The service is also horrible. Came here on a cold morning with an elderly relative so we attempted to wait inside where it was warm. The whole staff rushed to us to tell us to wait outside. There was about two people inside and no one in line outside and they claimed it was due to maximum occupancy...at 16 people. I've been stalking your Instagram for over a week now! I kept trying to preorder ahead of time but all the oldies were sold out. I fell in love with the strawberry galette after pictures of it were posted on Instagram. It was so beautiful! I'm the official taste tester for my family because I'm the one that usually brings desserts to try at gatherings. I procrastinated a little this week because I had to decide if I wanted to venture to a Farmer's market or go directly to the bakery. My procrastination paid off! Friday night I saw more strawberry galettes were available on Sunday! This was the moment I was waiting for! I texted the bakery, let them know where I was parked, and then they delivered curbside. I'm glad Faria found a way to remain open during Covid. It was worth the wait! After picture taking, the chocolate croissant was gone in a flash! Then the next bites were the strawberry galette, kouign aman, and the chocolate walnut beer cookie. The pastries are perfectly crispy, buttery, and flaky! I love how the flavors of the strawberry galette is perfectly balanced, little sweet, slightly tart, and cream completes it! My friend took me here for the first time. Everything looked good and I wanted to try everything. My friend recommended and got me 2 of the "pain au chocolate". Everything about it was delicious. The outside was very crispy and the pastry itself was very flakey. The dark chocolate filling inside had just enough inside (not too little, not too much). Ah, Faria Bakery is growing up! The last time I was at this spot, they hadn't officially opened yet and I was picking up a country loaf (they had a weekly subscription where you could buy bread even before the bakery had opened). This time - well, the place looked smashingly good! Beautiful coffee bar with perfect artisan options. Lovely bakery selection including croissants, morning buns and kouign amann ($3) - yes please.
