It had been a minute since I had been to Farmer Boy, but it was as delicious as I remember! I went there for my birthday breakfast and shared a cinnamon roll and got the chicken and waffles. To make a suggestion to add a little spice to your chicken & waffles add in some hot sauce of your liking to the syrup & OMG even more delicious!! The ambiance is always great! It's hard to rate. on the bright side. the food was great. But I wanted to pick up lunch for co-workers and the online options were not sufficient to get what one of us wanted. When you call it announces that you MUST order online. Therefore you have to show up, then order and then wait for your order. No phone calls allowed, and an incomplete app. Then as you order, when you arent sure what they will even do yet, you must tip in advance. So instead of my usual 20% I tipped 15% not knowing if the order would even come in a timely fashion or if what was requested would be honored. So I tipped in faith that I would not be dissapointed. The staff was wonderful, professional, friendly and in retrospect I am glad I tipped. Please either answer the phone for those who need a special order or make sure you add ALL the options (my coworker wanted an egg-white omelette) We just needed to be in and out as soon as possible on our lunch break. I always liked Farmer boys for breakfast, but now that they've changed ownership and changed the menu. It's only gotten better. This will probably be one of my favorite go to's next time I'm in Santa Barbara. Farmer Boy - Santa Barbara Farmer Boy is hands down one of my favorite breakfast spots in Santa Barbara. The food is excellent, the prices are extremely fair, and the service is some of the best I've experienced anywhere in town. I've been here when it's packed and when it's quiet, and the service never slips. Jessica is always pleasant, smiling, attentive, and observant. Robert is everywhere at once in the best way possible -- refilling drinks, setting and clearing tables, opening the door for guests, and keeping everything running smoothly without missing a beat. He has such a genuinely pleasant demeanor. When I told him I thought he did a great job, he smiled and said, "Thank you -- I do it for you guys!" That pretty much sums up the spirit of this place. And the food? Consistently excellent. I'm very picky about how my eggs are cooked, and I've never once had to send them back -- they actually understand over medium here, which is rare and much appreciated. If I had one wish, it would be that they were open for dinner. Until then, Farmer Boy remains an absolute go-to for breakfast done right. read more

This is a local brunch (lunch and dinner too) place that we had to try and it did not disappoint! I definitely recommend putting your name on the waiting list ahead of time through Yelp. We were staying downtown and that gave us time to get there by car and without too much of a wait. Around 9 am there were about 8 parties ahead of us. The team there is really welcoming despite having a very busy crowd - every table was full. We went on a Saturday morning and the nearby businesses weren't open yet to bide our time, but it wasn't a long wait, maybe 10 minutes. With so many tables, there was just a tad of a wait in taking our order, but our server was kind and attentive, often refilling waters and coffee. My son and I shared their famous cinnamon roll and it was amazing - served warm with the cream cheese glaze or frosting, very flavorful, and nice and fluffy inside but with a nice crust outside. It can definitely be shared among four people as it was just huge. Unfortunately, this was the only photo I remembered to take as we devoured our pancakes, and Farmer Boy classic breakfasts with eggs and bacon. My daughters got the chilaquiles and their own cinnamon roll, which they also complemented. They loved that the server brought them an assortment of hot sauces to choose from. You can also sit at their classic diner counter if you're so inclined. However, you will be staring directly at their amazing pies (chocolate cream looked amazing)! Found this place in yelp- was happy to see a waitlist - was easy enough to get on the waitlist - we were seated pretty quickly. Cute decor inside and beautiful photos in the walls. Service continued to be friendly and fast. The tea was great- I love unsweetened tea if it's made right and these guys know how to do it. You heat and I ordered the ham steak with biscuits- so delicious. Older son ordered the Benedict and said it was good- must have been because he ate it all. Hubby got the chicken sliders with gravy and enjoyed that. We will definitely be back. read more

I ordered an omelette and asked for 3 things - cheese, ham and avocado. Waiter asked me to repeat it. I did, and he asked, cheddar cheese ok? I said yes. They brought out my omelette and said no cheese. I said no I do want cheese. They asked me to close the omelette back up. Wait. They brought back the same omelette with the cheese on top. I asked why it was on top and he said they melt it on top. Asked the waiter and he said usually they do put inside but they were trying to rush it (really did not come back quick so no). They offered to remake it but I said no because I don't want to wait again. But I tried to put the avocado inside and it was refrigerator cold. Basically lost my appetite at this point but I asked them to remake it. Then I realized all this time they never brought the English muffins. So I asked for it and they brought it out right away. Must've been just sitting there. Lukewarm. Finally got my omelette 30+ minutes later. Avocado on top even though I asked for it to be put inside. Waiter's response was that they usually put it on top. Yeah well I know that. I'm sure they usually offer better service based on the other reviews but it was a total fail for me. The best Cinnamon Roll that I've ever had. That's saying something because I've been eating them since I was a little kid and get them often all over this state and others. Was visiting from Los Angeles for the holiday weekend and had heard great things about Farmer Boy, and now that I have been, I can easily say that it's one of my favorite breakfast options in Santa Barbara. It's located on State Street, but not the busy part of it, it's away from the water so parking is a lot easier here than other parts of town. It's attached to a large parking lot, so there is plenty of free parking. You can also put your name down on the waitlist using Yelp, which really can help with the wait times. We had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated for a last minute Sunday brunch, but the wait was worth it. Inside is fairly large, they have counter seating, tables, and booths, as well as a few outdoor seats, which aren't nearly as popular during these cold winter months. Our server was extremely polite and she was very fast with the drink refills. Just like any classic diner they have a ton of comfort food options and a lot of different things to choose from. Based on other reviews, we started off with the Cinnamon Roll and honestly it was one of the best, if not the best, that I've ever had. The brown sugar was not burnt, the icing was perfect and not too sweet, and the bread was soft and not crunchy. I would go back specifically for that. For my entrée, I chose the Eggs Benedict and thought it was also great. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the avocado addition was a great choice. Their coffee is also really strong and I had quite a few cups of it before leaving. Pricing is very fair so it really is a great option for people of all ages and groups of all sizes. Overall a fantastic breakfast option in Santa Barbara and someplace I plan to visit again next time I am in town. I have always been a fan of their hot coffee, Pancakes, Chicken and Waffles, French Toast, 2 Eyed Toad-In-The-Hole Sandwich, Smoked Salmon Benedict, Salmon and Bagel, and have always appreciated their Meatloaf Mondays, and Taco Tuesdays. Quite the popular place, and if it gets too crowded inside and outside, it can be fun to eat at the bar. Servers are always working hard to keep everyone happy, and it's a job well done. We visited Santa Barbara for 3 days. We found this place for breakfast on our way to the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden. Even though our hotel was by the beach, we opted to go here for breakfast 2 days in a row. It's a solid spot! On the first day, I had the veggie scramble with hash browns and a biscuit. My husband had the classic breakfast with pancakes, eggs and bacon. The hash browns were burnt, but everything else was delicious. The second time we were there, I had the sausage scramble with home fries and a biscuit with gravy on the side. Yummy! My husband had the Denver omelet with home fries and one pancake. He enjoyed it as well. Get the home fries! Their coffee is really good too. The service was prompt and friendly. It's away from the tourist crowds so the atmosphere is more relaxed. read more
