I got the Bacon boy burger and the breaded zucchini and fries. I really liked the zucchini and the ranch sauce that came with it. I also got a side order of fries and they were nice and crispy, really enjoyed those as well. Main issue was with the burger. The two patties were burnt, especially on the edges and i was only able to eat the inner part of the patties as a result. The bacon and cheese in the burger was good. I will give them a second chance on the burgers in future, i suppose it's possible they're not normally that burnt and this was an unfortunate one off. I guess I am eating too many burgers these days. I have been to all the local places big and small. The fries here are the best! They are crispy and delicious. Far better than Mickey Dees, In & Out, Carl's, B King, JNBox, etc. In fact I come here mainly because use of the fries. The burgers are fine but the more "stuff" they have on them the better they are. As for prices have you seen the regular prices at the other places such as Carl's? I understand most businesses are doing their best through this crazy time. I wish I could say the same for this one. Not only did they take my money for the goods I bought but they treated me as a trespasser! They were very busy and asked I move my car out of the drive thru & wait at their doors which of course wasn't an issue. I didn't time it but can definitely say it was over 10 mins before I sent my nephew in to see what happened. He comes out and says they said the orders were mixed up and they are redoing our order. So, I go back to the car to wait. Another 10 minutes later I go in and speak to the lady by the front (whose attention I had to grab away from chatting with coworkers) and asked what was going on. She apologized, said they were busy. OK, I said, but maybe next time you can communicate that instead of leaving us to guess and come in to ask? She apologized again and handed me the bags. I get to my destination and I have the incorrect salad and no firy chicken sandwich for my nephew. I call, speak to who I was told was the manager and she gathers info, apologies profusely and says she will make our incorrect or missing items. I asked if she wanted the salad back and she said no. So, I head to the store, send my nephew in and he comes out saying she has no idea what he is speaking of and he must be at the wrong store. I go in and asked Chelsea if she remembers us. She did and says I must have called the wrong store. OK, well if she remembered then she knows she screwed my order up, right? She knows I'm at the correct store now, right? So like pulling teeth I spoke with her about what the other store said they would do and she asks for the salad. I tell her the lady I spoke with said I didn't need to bring it and she says "that is our policy so I don't know who you spoke to". So now I'm called a lier standing, once again, in this store. After what seemed like forever (probably minutes) she says she will honor what the other store would and asked what it was. I tell her and ask if she can bring it to the car and she agrees. I go out and call the store of the manager I spoke with and apologized that I had called the wrong place and wouldn't be there (you know, went the extra mile to let them know so they could resell while fresh or give away while fresh. Common curiosity as it was my mistake, right?). Chelsea comes out just as I hang up with a pen and paper asking for my name and number. I give it to her and tell her I just called the other store then realizing that she doesn't have food in her hand so I ask "what do you need my number for?" This so called manager or "the highest ranking person" there says there have been too many mix ups so they will not be fulfilling my order. I told her I can accept the salad seeing as I did get one but not the sandwich as I had paid for that item and never received it. She said no. I left and after stopping at Jack in the box for my nephews food I emailed the company letting them know I wanted my money back for the sandwich. This was weeks ago and I haven't gotten a phone call back and only received an automated email saying they got my email. Never have I been contacted by them which is why I'm here. I can understand one employee having a bad day what I don't understand is how a customer can let the corporate office know and not get so much as a thank you let alone your money back for a good you never received. I guess I was a trespasser after all, I won't let it happen again. Word of mouth goes a long way, think about that the next time your EBITA doesn't hit target. read more

This spot is horrible. Went to pick up lunch earlier and waited 20 minutes in the drive through. Got to the window and was told they didn't know what my order was. I replaced the order at the window and was told to park out front and wait for my order. After 10 minutes went by I went inside to a bunch of confused looking idiot's behind the counter. They informed me they hadn't started my order yet because the girl was new. Not sure if that was an excuse or torettes but either way it wasn't acceptable. I got my money back and not even an apology from the obese girl that mangled my order from the start. Wife and I decided to go vegetarian for a month (I swear my pants were shrinking...) and my friend told me this is the place for veggie burgers. I gotta say: he was right. Five star delicious. They don't do the fake meat taste, it's a patty made of vegetables (I think?) whatever. It's incredible. Almost made me want to give up meat for good. Almost. I've always enjoyed Farmer Boys restaurants. The food is better than most fast food out there, a little more expensive but fresher ingredients and a wide selection to choose from. The dining rooms are clean, the service is usually fast and friendly. Now, on to THIS review. I stopped in this morning for an early lunch (it was around 10:30am) ordered my Farmer's Boy Burger which is a cheese burger with bacon and alvocado. All was well until I sat down to wait and started watching the fry cook who was preparing my burger. I know he was preparing my burger because there were no other orders pending and the drive through was empty. I watched the fry cook pop some food in his mouth, then picked up the meat patty for my burger with his bare hands and drop it on the grill. Now, I expect the cook to use his hands to prepare my food, but I expect those hands to be washed and germ free prior to touching anything that I'll be eating! What are you doing putting your grubby little hands on food, and in your mouth, and back on MY food??? And whatever he was snacking on was bite sized, so his fingers wereIN HIS MOUTH!!! This is a serious health code violation...and one of the many reasons people get sick after eating out! This fry cook should be fired on the spot. I know things like this go on all the time, but I don't have to spend my hard earned cash anywhere it is tolerated. I always try to watch the kitchen to see my food being prepared whenever the kitchen is visible and most of the time things go just fine. If this guy is so comfortable treating himself to a snack while cooking my food right out in the open I have to assume he does it all the time. Now here's the million dollar question...why am I the only one who noticed this was going on? Or maybe I'm the only one who cared. Either way I will not be returning here, which is a shame because it's a convenient location for me and I enjoy the food. What a shame! This place was rated best breakfast in town??? I ordered bacon & eggs, over-medium, bacon, with CRISPY hash browns, and sourdough TOAST. What I was given was eggs, crispy on the edges, uncooked in the middle, half cooked hash browns (burnt outside, raw inside), and two pieces of sourdough bread with a ton of melted margarine on them (not at all toasted). Farmer Boys is great. They have amazing salads, but they need to invest in a salad spinner or find some way to dry their greens. Every to-go salad I have gotten has about 1/4 cup of water in the bottom, which destroys the salad. It's really a shame because you spend a lot of money for a good, fresh salad and it's ruined from all the excess water. This can be fixed! That's why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1! read more

I came to eat after a wellness fair with my coworker and I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon. As the employee was ringings up I looked at the menu again and saw that it came with salsa (sometimes depending on the salsa it makes the burrito contents soggy) and I didn't want it. I quickly asked if the employee could tell the cook to put the salsa on the side and she gave me a look like really? I didn't feel it was necessary since we hadn't even paid yet. That's strike number one! Number 2. My eggs were burned so they were really dry I had to add ketchup to every bite to balance out the texture. But I will give them credit because there was a great bacon ratio so they give you a lot for your buck and the hash-browns were soft. Still couldn't go further than a quarter of it because it was just way too dry. So I'll give the burrito a 2 out of 5 Number 3. When you stand in the front to order everything seemed okay but when you walk to where the tables are at there was flies galore here it's digesting! We mastered the art of eating with one hand and swatting flies off yourself and your food without stopping that day. There was also little nats too and it was just all overwhelming and after a while we couldn't take it and just left without finishing our food. So all in all, if you like horrible customer service, so so food, and flies to trying swarming all over you and your food this is definitely the place. read more

Farmer Boys is the place where I get my favorite "fast food" salad. It's fresh and the veggies are high quality. I don't really find myself going out here very often (I initially found Farmer Boys because I used to commute from Pasadena to La Verne and Pomona for 6 looooong years, and if it weren't for that long drive along the 210, I'd never have even seen this place). But here is my secret: I get real food at Farmer Boys, then I get a drink and tater tots from Sonic on the way back down the road on Huntington, because Sonic's food is horrible. And this is basically my dream fast food combination--a fresh, crisp salad, the greatest tater tots in existence, and a strawberry limeade. It's brilliant. One of the things I appreciate about Farmer Boys is that they're pretty flexible about alterations to menu items, so I never get dirty looks when I ask for a _______ with no ________, which seems to be tantamount to a crime in some restaurants. I haven't ever tried much on the menu besides salad and a salad wrap once (which had way too much dressing), and their french fries. I loooove the french fries, which are thicker like Del Taco fries but not crinkly. I did try the funnel cake fries once, long ago, and thought they were not all that exciting, plus the price was fairly ridiculous for something like 6 or 8 sticks of a poor excuse for delicious funnel cake! All in all, it feels like a less-bad-for-me way to grab something quickly after a long day when I don't feel like making anything. Compared to salads from any major chain, you'd notice the difference in freshness and quality right away. Forgetting that Irwindale is filled with huge companies, I was sitting down eating my Pastrami, and got to listen to the guys next to me talk about all their $10 million dollar deals. So, I guess even the wealthy need a nice greasy burger once in a while! Anyways, the food is pretty good. I was expecting a huge Pastrami, as the other items I've had there were quite large, but it was actually regular size. Nevertheless, it was a good sandwich. I also had the onion rings, which are unusual in the way they make them, huge, like they took the whole onion and deep fried it. The 7 year old I was with ordered the grilled cheese and she also seemed to like it, but then again, how would anyone screw up a grilled cheese. :) I'd give the place 5 stars, but I've been there a few times before and the wait can be a bit long. We usually go there for breakfast and only tried their lunch/dinner menu like once or twice. Breakfast is really good. My favorite is their breakfast burrito. It delicious plus it's huge! Half is more than enough to fill you up. Burgers and fried zucchinis are also very good. Service is pretty fast and the staff is friendly. I definitely recommend this as a local eatery. While down in Glendora to close to LA-LA Land visiting folks, I was turned on to this unique concept called a Fastaurant. Farmer Boys Fastaurants founded in 1981. The menu features more than 75 freshly prepared items including burgers, specialty sandwiches, freshly made salads, and signature side items such as fried zucchini and Highly Recommended-monster-sized onion rings. Made-to-order breakfasts include omelets, French toast, pancakes, and breakfast burritos. Served in a cozy, friendly environment that calls to mind the charm and comfort of a rural, farm home I have been here several times since my first visit and have never had a bad experience. Anything ordered is wonderful and delicious. I always make a point of visiting this place while down in or near LA LA. I've only been here once and averaged a meh experience. To be honest, I would rather go to the McDs right next to it. The only reason for this is because Farmer Boys has the SLOWEST drive-thru I have EVER experienced. I could not believe how long it took for me to get my food!!! There was only one person eating inside and maybe two cars in front of me and it probably took 15+ minutes. I seriously considered backing out of the drive-thru and cancelling my order. I was just too hungry though and the McDs line was getting longer =P The sausage & egg breakfast sandwich definitely tasted good (the bread is really soft and yummy...ask for the hot sauce too) but if you are in a hurry this is NOT the place for you. Found somewhere in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a beer factory, road, and some of those mining companies is a little fast food/sit-down restaurant called Farmer Boys. I guess it is known as a Fastaurant. In all on my first experience there, it was alright, but could have been a whole lot better. The food came really quickly, but I think it was too quick for my taste. The burgers there were quite tasty, but the fries, I'm sure they rushed on them. And those zucchini fries they have are just chunks of cucumbers that were fried. I was kind dissapointed with that. But in all, the place has a good atmosphere at least inside the place. I can tell it is a nice quite family restaurant to go to. Just make sure to tell them to cook your fries... Did I mention, they serve breakfast lunch and dinner, so it's a plus! read more

While driving home from school i always read a random sign at night that says "Farmer..." then at closer inspection I see a drive through area....not so farm anymore eh? So I finally decided to try this weird ODD fast food restaurant. I went alone because drive thru = fast food = ok to eat alone. I went inside to order the Farmer's Burger which comes with all the normal burger trimmings, bacon, an extra patty, and guacamole (or was it avacado spread?). I also ordered an extra order of onion rings along with my combo due to the pictures of the huge rings they offered. I took my diet pepsi (diet coke is what i asked for...they should've told me that it would be a diet PEPSI) and sat down to wait for them to bring my food. The food came in two different plates. One plate with my big burger and four onion rings...FOUR, but man they were REALLY big and thick. The other had my fries. So there you have the experience portion of eating, now to the foood Burgers - really good patties! They remind me of 4th of July. Nicely grilled and HOT because they are made to order. When you bite into the hotness, the guacamole follows to cool your palate down in enough time to chew through the bacon and onions in the burgers. It was big because of the double patty, not able to finish it. Fries - normally you don't associate fries with new flavors, but these tasted like potatoes. They either perfected the potato artificial flavor, or they really are using fresh ingredients. I had fun eating them. Onion Rings - On to the huge onion rings. Great batter and really thick slabs of onions inside them. They tend to feel dry after the third one, so using sauce is great if you weren't pigging out on the other things in your two plates. After eating what I could, I felt this heavy, happy feeling in my body. It's one of those, man...good food...great weather...i wish i could nap in my car type of feelings. ...and then since it did feel a lil heavy/greasy i thought, "I wonder which restaurant I would choose to have a heart attack in" you know to ruin their credibility. Farmer Boys - Irwindale, CA (near Foothill Blvd.) Farmer Boys in Irwindale is a pretty original part fast-food joint, part sit-down restaurant with a focus on burgers; but with an equal emphasis on salads and breakfast. POSITIVES: 1. I was in the area on business and just looking for something cheap to eat before heading back onto the freeway. I saw a McDonald's with a gigantic parking lot. As I drove in, I noticed Farmer Boys sharing the lot and decided to try that instead. Anyways, even though the lot is shared between two restaurants, there is plenty of parking for both places...and more. It's always nice to have a spacious lot. 2. Farmer Boys's atmosphere is really relaxing. From the outside, it looks like something of an Applebees or TGIF or something. When you get inside, it's still extremely nice, but then you realize it's closer to a fast-food place than a sit-down place; YET, it's neither of the above. Farmer Boys straddles a nice middle between the two, and it's realized in their decor as well their food. 3. They have a very large dining area with very organized seating. All the tables and chairs are very clean. And every table setting has Farmer Boys-branded ketchup, Tapatio, and a second bottle of general hot sauce that all look like they are kept in continuous-updated condition. There are also a couple of outdoor tables with no shade; no one was using them. 4. Even with a couple of other customers and the muffled mystery music, the restaurant is generally quiet (at least on a Friday afternoon after work hours). 5. The workers are super upbeat and friendly. NEUTRAL: 1. Finally, we get to the food: I had their double-cheeseburger; they've dubbed it The Bell Ringer. It was a pretty good portion of everything and it tasted decent. It was nothing overwhelmingly bomb in the taste department, but I like that the portion matched the price; this balances out to a neutral. 2. The Irwindale Farmer Boys is in the middle of nowhere as far as the main city is concerned. This is essentially a factory area for several different products. A main highlight of these nearby factories is probably the Coors plant. The restaurant is easy enough to find; but I'm certain the only people that dine here either work in the area or they happen to have a home nearby. NEGATIVES: 1. My fries were over-cooked; this was a huge disappointment considering their burger was just about above-average. I was wondering if this was some kind of "special way" they cook their fries, but after taking a second glance at their menu photos, the fries shouldn't have been burned. RANDOM NOTES: 1. Their "main dish" is the Farmer's Burger: a double-patty BLT burger with smashed avocado on top. It looks good, but I was full and was thinking that the "regular" double-cheeseburger should still give me a sample of what their main burger dish would taste like. 2. They also have all-day breakfast, salads, and non-burger sandwiches. Since I didn't taste any of those items, it'll just sit here in the Random Notes section. 3. Farmer Boys serves enormous salads. From my single dine-in, a majority of the customers were eating this. I'm not a fan of salads, but from what I saw, it is an enormous portion. 4. Their menu advertises a neat option for people that order a combo: Instead of just fries; you can get a mini-sampler of fried-zucchini, onion rings, and some fries. Again, being full and not planning on spending too much, I didn't try this option out. So, there you have it. A hyrbid fast-food/sit-down restaurant with the variety of burgers, breakfast, and salads. The taste is average and the portions are huge. I can't wholly recommend Farmer Boys if you're not already nearby, but it IS different in regards to food variety and I like that it's so peaceful. read more

Honestly it's not cheap my bill was 37.59 for two meal combos the food was worth it but needless to say my shake had hard plastic throughout the whole shake ( I threw it away after finding the 3 piece of hard plastic in it) thank goodness I wasn't giving this to an infant. I called the next day because they were already closed when I found the plastic. Well the manager said to me what do you want me to do about it? I was so flabbergasted I said it's not up to my your the manager then he said well really not sure what you want. Today was not a good day for Farmer Boys, ordered the 4 piece fish dinner, when the salad came I asked for a extra salad dressing and was told it would be an extra .50 cents (Farmer Boys must be not making enough these days). Then the fish came and it was overcooked and tasted like old frying oil. The only good part was the 2 onion rings.
