The decor is right out of an old timey western diner set in a fantastically really old building. The food is excellent and is what you would expect when coming to dinner at grandma's on little house on the prairie. The service on our particular visit wasn't the best, an overworked Philippine lady that wasn't in the best of moods and the tea both of the raspberry and lemon varieties weren't very good t all. Worst service I've ever had! Our server was arguing with us about what was included on their menu. Also, never was offered any refills on our coffee or tea even after asking for it! When we ask for our missing items to go, which was the missing soffit, the missing biscuit and gravy, and when we asked for our refill on our coffee & tea . Needless to say, I did not want to argue with this woman who obviously did not know what was on their own menu. I just asked her to please give me my bill. When I was paying the lady at the counter I could hear this angry, angry woman complaining and bitching at the cook about us. Read your own menu !!! Know what is included or rather supposed to be included with our meals. She pretty much repeated " White or Wheat" White or Wheat" ! Do yourself a favor, go up the street to the Horseshoe and avoid this place like the plague if you want to have a nice day!! If I could give less than one star I would but it's not the cooks fault. The waitress an older heavyset woman had a really bad attitude somebody must've Pee'd in her Cheerios this morning! The food we did get was ok, but we didn't get it all either, so can't give any better review then what we actually received. Stopped in looking for some place to grab a bite. Man were we surprised, good people great food at a good price. I had the chicken fried stake, it was just right. We are locals who have eaten at this small quaint restaurant several times. It has been primarily breakfasts, and we find the food to be very good. What truly impresses us are the homestyle potatoes, which are sliced and browned. They are identical to the way my own mother used to prepare potatoes when I was a child. Very tasty and uniquely delicious! We've only seen one older waitress on our visits whether busy or slow, but she seems to keep up with a relatively speedy service every time. She is pleasant and kind and not too busy to avoid a short conversation. Items appear clean on the tables, well wiped, silverware clean. That is important to us. Food is quite tasty and we found the gravy for biscuits to actually contain sausage bits and is by far more flavorful than any of the other local breakfast restaurants in Benson. Pancakes are your traditional out-of-the-box version and nothing extraordinary, but the syrup arrives hot. Traditional Farmer John sausage/bacon and store bought bland eggs. Since we raise our own beef/chicken/pork/lamb it cannot compare. But for a quick breakfast fix, we have found this restaurant to be a little quieter with reliable service and good food. The fried potatoes is what keeps us coming back. They also have an extended outside dining area, but your view is primarily watching the cars go by on 4th street. They do have quirky hours, and are not always open as a mom and pop business which is common with all the restaurants in Benson, so it would be wise to visit their website or call first anytime a holiday is close by. After 6 years we have made this our newest go-to breakfast niche. It does get very busy around 8 to 9 AM, and opens earlier, so we recommend going around 7 AM. read more

Food was good but there was only one lady who served you, answered the phone & checked you out. Definitely understaffed.. You can not run a restaurant properly with only ONE person running the whole front of the house. We were exhausted just watching her. Poor thing. The food was pretty good, I think what ruined it for us was the service. We arrived at 1:50pm on a Sunday. Shouldn't have been a problem seeing as the posted hours on Yelp were 6am to 8pm. (See attached screen shot) We were treated like a major imposition having no idea what the problem was. Two other couples came in after us and received the same treatment. The server was short and brusque with us and it was until we were leaving we noticed the posted hours on in the window read 6am to 2pm. So the lesson to be learned here goes out to the owner. Sir or madam, maintain your Yelp listing or this will keep happening. As to the server, we are sorry we walked in at the last minute. I have been in food service management and believe me I take great pains not to be that guy. The fault lies with the owner and we did not deserve the treatment we recieved. My husband, daughters and I stopped here on a Friday morning on our way to Apple Annie's orchard. I must first state that it is on the right side if the road, right past Walmart. Our Yelp! Directions told us it was on the left side and we passed it. Now, once we found it, we loved it! I would chose this place leaps and bounds above Cracker Barrel! The muffins are amazing and hand made, so fresh! The fruit platter for kids was the best and biggest I have ever seen for the price. However, the best meal we had was hands down the Chili Verde Omelette! Holy moly, it was so fluffy and was very flavorful! The waitress was awesome and we had outstanding customer service throughout the whole meal! We will be coming here much more often!! read more

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to Tombstone. My first impression was that this is a restaurant that would be on the tv show Restaurant Impossible. It wasn't particularly clean, the ceiling tiles were rotting from water leaks, and dirty dishes were left sitting there on half of the tables! The quality of the food did not disappoint my first impression. I ordered an omelette with hash browns and a biscuit and gravy and a pancake on the side. The hash browns were lukewarm and greasy. The omelette was greasy but ok. The biscuit, however, was disgusting. If you ate salt with a spoon, you've tasted their biscuit. The gravy was that gross gravy you get from a powder mix. I love biscuits and gravy, and I only took two bites of their's. Their only saving grace was the pancake. It was actually pretty good. I would not eat here again. read more

We ate here a couple of times two years ago and the food and service made us satisfied enough to return. We saw the sign for $4.99 Breakfast and Lunch specials. What a disappointment. Instead of ordering what looked like pretty nice breakfast specials, we both ordered the $6.99 Buckwheat pancakes. The serving consisted of three, not thick, or medium, but rather between medium and thin, palm size pancakes and a small container of cold cinnamon apples, kind of like pie filling. No syrup was offered not did we request any. Buckwheat has a distinct flavor, much of which was missing from these pancakes. I rolled each pancake up like a tortilla and in ten bites, the pancakes were gone. The apples were prepared with excess cinnamon for my taste, but we ate them anyway. Upon paying for the meal at the register, I asked the waitress if she would like any input. We explained about the quality and quantity of the meal and she said she would tell the owner. Perhaps the waitress just isn't a people person, and perhaps the cook had a bad batch of buckwheat, but the portion size for the price was way off, the quality of the pancakes left much to be desired, and we did not feel welcome. If I could give them zero stars I would. The gentleman that got our drinks was very polite and helpful. Our diets tasted like regular so we switched to iced tea because I'm diabetic and can't risk drinking the wrong thing. However the woman that went to take our order was very rude when my husband asked for a substitution. She would rather argue that she couldn't sub in changes and instead offer a more expensive option. Because of her nasty argumentative attitude we said that's fine we'll go somewhere else. She got more of an attitude when we got up to leave and demanded we pay for the drinks, which we hadn't had an opportunity to drink because they were just delivered to the table as she was taking our order. She then threaten to call cops if we didn't pay. So, we paid $5 for drinks we never tried and went down the street to a much much better and friendlier option at Wild Dogs! read more

My husband and I have been to the Farmhouse several times since moving to Benson a couple of months ago and we love it. When family comes to town we always take them to the Farmhouse for breakfast. You can't go wrong with the Farmer's Hash or any of the Country Fried options (steak, pork, etc.) and I've never had better gravy. Portion sizes are good but not excessive. On the side, I love the coconut muffins while my husband always goes for the toast with Farmhouse's home made apple butter. Fortunately, they sell the apple butter by the jar so I'm not forced to make a difficult choice. read more

I have had 2 meals here; lunch and breakfast. The first day, when I had lunch, the waitress was very nice, she chatted it up and gave us some great pointers about things to do in the community. I had a quesadilla which I thought was average, and a little overpriced for what I got. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich and was disappointed at the amount of chicken salad on the sandwich. My other friend had the French toast which appeared to be made out of cheap white bread, so he was under Impressed also. My second trip here was for breakfast, I ordered the special which was blueberry pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon. I thought the pancakes were small, and the bacon cheap quality, but overall the breakfast was good and I thought it was good for the price. On this day I had a different waitress, there were only 3 tables with customers, but she didn't seem to know what she was doing. I would go back, but I can only give this place 3 stars! read more

My wife and I ate breakfast here 3 days in a row while visiting family and loved every visit. Atmosphere and staff were good but the food is the real prize. They have the best biscuits and gravy I've had since South Carolina. The potatoes were fantastic and my wife loved the stuffed french toast. I really enjoyed the chicken fried pork steak as well. Good food at affordable prices. Also one of the few options in Benson, but it is good enough for a diversion from I10 if you are headed towards Tucson or Wilcox. It is the little things that make this an above average restaurant, like their homemade apple butter. Breakfast is a particularly good option here, and they donut really well. Their version of hash is lovely. Also, homemade muffins and biscuits are on offer as separate items or in lieu of toast. Really nice special touches like these are why we keep coming back. read more
