This place is great! Left Bisbee early this morning and ended up here at about 6:30. They don't open til 7 but the owner/chef saw us pull in and opened early for us. We had a blueberry pancake breakfast special (huge, fresh, juicy blueberries!!) and a Philly cheesesteak omelet. Both were wonderful-obviously a talented chef. The cinnamon swirl French toast is the best French toast I've ever had! It's not just a cinnamon swirl topping French toast - it's an actual cinnamon bun, cut in half and made into French toast. Can't say I encountered much different than previous reviews. Same waitress who insisted we must be repeaters, but pleasant if slow and not well organized. Chicken onion omelets with hollandaise was tasty if not a very good representation of the culinary arts. Companions BLT was standard, no wow, no turn offs either. I had high hopes coming in here because I love mom & pop greasy spoon places. Initially, neither the woman that served us nor the menu did anything to dash those hopes. It was not until I received a plate of hash browns looking suspiciously like country potatoes ("I didn't know you wanted hash browns", the Cook), a well done steak that had been ordered medium rare, and "over medium" eggs with a fully cooked yolk that things went down hill. The 7/8 (sic) oz sirloin was also about 3 oz of gristle and fat. The flavor of the food was ok but decidedly sub par. The waitress also hovered over us as we signed the credit receipt. It was so awkward that my dining companion felt compelled to reduced the tip. This will not be a place I return to. read more

Stopped by this little gem in Benson AZ for breakfast. The sign said home cooked food and it wasn't wrong. The service was very fast and the food was GOOD. Home baked bread and huge cinnamon rolls. But the best part was the spread for the toast. It was rhubarb butter. The rhubarb butter was so good we bought some to take home to Seattle....oh and we bought some apple butter too. Good food spoiled by service. Came by on morning of Dec 31st. Called ahead to make sure they were open. Travel through Benson about 8 times per year to see family and on previous trips restaurant has been closed so this was our first visit. We had seen the positive yelp reviews and our four boys love pancakes do we were excited to try. After being seated we were asked what we wanted to drink and responded water. The waitress responded, "What no orange juice, apple juice or coffee?" We responded, "no thank you just water". She then said "But it's not very expensive". A second just water please. I ordered the honey fried chicken with corn bread. Quality and size of chicken slightly lacking, but hot and crispy crust. Yummy. My six year old begged to have a piece of my chicken an loved it. The veggies were soggy and several bites were very cold, like the microwave didn't thoroughly heat items up. Corn bread was large and piping hot and quite good. Wife ordered stuffed French toast to share which was very good ( and decadent). Children had a breakfast slam, grilled cheese, and pancakes and were all pleased with their orders. Wife had meat loaf and eggs. Flavor of meatloaf good but it was warm to cold. She really liked her fried potatoes however. At conclusion of meal waitress informed us of a "new policy" that tables of over for 4 people had an automatic gratuity added on. I answered that is fine. She then went on to explain that some people were very cheap and only tip 2 or 3 dollars and that wasn't fair to the waitress. I again answered that is fine and by that time was embarrassed because many other patrons had stopped eating and looking at us. When the bill came a 25% gratuity had been added. The comments about being cheap and of why not order some juice, put a bad taste in our mouths that overcame an otherwise pleasant meal. $80 for breakfast for young family of 6 after ordering off kids menus, the specials and water, was more than we typically pay for breakfast. Could not read or understand the bill and did not question it after waitress gave us the cheep lecture in front of the other diners. The 25% tip was clearly marked on the bill. Have had better experiences in other Benson and Wilcox Mom and Pop establishments. My family owned a restaurant growing up and we always try to support independent family run places. read more

Let's start by saying horrible service. As we started to order, our waitress kept insisting that we order different items. Turns out that they no longer made a few of the menu selections. Something about apples being too expensive. We started by ordering 4 hot chocolates and received 4 cold chocolate syrups. Scrambled eggs were cold and flavorless, just horrible. The banana nut French toast was dry, as if the bread was old. Although, I must say, the blueberry pancakes were pretty good and the hash browns were OK. 4 plates and 4 cold hot chocolates later $51 As our waitress came back to retrieve our plates, she was not happy about seeing our full cups of chocolate. She verbally disapproved of the tip, took the money and went on to grab a pastry with ungloved hands, for an other customer. The waitress who is also the hostess is an Asian middle aged lady. I went there today with my boyfriend and she was rude rude rude. I don't know if it was intentional or because of her culture or what but I really just think she was awful. I had questions regarding the breakfast and some of the ingredients she completely blew me off and didn't answer my questions also she was very hostile. We had to fight to get her attention for water napkins hot sauce ketchup coffee refill .... basically anything... and this is a small town barely anyone eating here and she still ignored us and it was not a nice experience. The food was good blueberry pancakes good .... I didn't order what I wanted or extra items because she literally didn't want to take my order or answer a few questions. My wife and I were visiting Kartchner Caverns and decided to go into Benson for dinner. We always look for little local places that have charm and look like the places the local folks go. The Farmhouse Restaurant had that look, so we stopped in. The food was like being back home again and my wife and I were delighted! Even though it was the end of the day, we were served with care and attention like it was the first customer of the day. The home made cherry pie was excellent. We will be sure to stop in again the next time we are in Benson. You should, too! read more

The food was not too bad. That is all I can say about it. Our server, Who may be the owner, is rude. I recommend that the restaurant install an arresting cables across the tables. So it can catch the plates when she delivers the food. I don't think I will be going back. Unless they have another wait staff server. read more
