Farrell's is a staple on Davis Islands, and anytime I drop in to TeBella for a matcha or tea after a morning workout, I always drop by Farrell's afterward for a bagel or a sandwich. By noon on weekdays, the bagels are always nearly gone but you still have a couple to choose from, but on weekends, they are long gone before lunch. On those days, I order their delicious egg salad sandwich on rye, and you get a choice of side. I've had their pasta salad and it's delicious, but this time I just opted for chips. And always a pickle spear! Farrell's is also well known as an ice cream shop. Though I've never tried their ice cream, while I sit in to dine, I watch many parents come through with their kiddos, grabbing a scoop or two. The interior is very lunch diner-esque. Nothing flashy or special, just comfy, easy seating to enjoy your lunch. And a friendly team happy to help. Came in for a late lunch Saturday while a friend and I were in town and realized we hadn't eaten yet at 4pm. We were worried they were actually about to close down, but the workers cleaning out the bagel case assured us that the rest of the kitchen was still operating as normal. I got the Greek salad, and my friend got a veggie-less Philly cheese steak. I loved the Greek salad, and I was glad the dressing was on the side because I prefer a smaller amount of dressing than most. Jenn's Philly was exactly the way she asked, and it was delicious- she ate every bit. The interior was very similar to a typical New York deli, except with Miami football instead of Yankee gear, which made me laugh a little. The ice cream seemed to be a popular item for them- several people came in to get ice cream while we ate and talked. Overall, it seemed pretty great, but we'll be back eventually! read more

Amazing ice cream! Lots of flavors to choose from and different ones you don't see just anywhere. Before the ice cream, we had breakfast sandwiches. I thought they were not that good. I would definitely not order one again. Also, the service was not very good. The ambiance is long tables. You seat yourself and pay upfront before you eat. It was very expensive. A great stop on David Island. We wanted to get some ice cream and we definitely found the right spot. They offer Lots of delicious it's hard to make up your mind but my kids were set on cotton candy and Gator tracks. Both were super yummy with little flavor bites inside in each . Came in with my friend to get bagels for her son. The place smelled of bagels, made me hungry even though I just ate lol. Walked up and ordered. They toasted and sliced the bagels and put the cream cheese on the side as asked. It was rather expensive for 4 bagels at $13 total. They also serve Yoders ice cream!! This a great spot on Davis Islands for a quick meal at an inexpensive price. It's a very casual place with quick service and good food. It's situated on the quaint block of Davis Islands Village with several other restaurants and shops. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel. It was good, but the amount of eggs and bacon inside the sandwich was minimal. The hash browns are great. I would definitely try their food again. read more

Nice "All about the U" Miami Hurricane sports deli and ice cream shoppe. Kindof a strange combo, but it worked for me and my family. They have inside and outside seating and are very pet friendly. They even have a fresh baked pup cookie for sale. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick. We ordered at the counter from the menu posted on the wall behind the counter. All of the items were clearly described, and the guy behind the counter explained all additional options. GET THE FRIES! Small upchage, but they reminded me of the days of hot fries at the Bashore Little League ball fields a block away, as a kid. We tried a few different sandwiches, and we were all thrilled what what we ate. My Miami Cuban Sandwich was delicious even though it was not on Cuban Bread, and it did not have pickles in it. The club sandwich was huge and full of fresh turkey, ham, and bacon. The Tuna salad sandwich was fresh and filled with a giant scoop layered on tomato and lettuce between super soft bread. The other star of the meal was the fresh pasta salad. This is definitely someone's mom's recipe. In all, I really liked this place and can recommend it for a great sandwich to eat in or take out. I'll be honest, I initially stopped in here just because of the University of Miami flags in the windows! But I'm so glad I did, because their ice cream was awesome. I'm a proud Hurricanes fan and alum -- it feels like I'm one of the few in Tampa. So when I saw the UM decor (and was in the mood for ice cream), I figured it was just meant to be. I walked in to see an impressive amount of Canes memorabilia on the walls and in display cases. Might not mean much to most of the people in Tampa, but I sure got a kick out of it. In fact, the owner told me he put the flag up when he first took over the location, only to have a man stick his head in the door and tell him he'd never stay in business with the UM flag on display. So naturally, the owner went and bought another flag to put up on the other window, haha. Okay, so the ice cream! They have a good selection to choose from, and you can try as many flavors as you like. You can even combine flavors in their smallest size. I tried the chocolate fudge brownie and the toasted coconut -- and even though I didn't think the two would go together, I got a small cup with those two flavors. Turns out it tastes like a Mounds bar! The ice cream is great quality and much better than some other places around town I've tried. I can't wait to come back and try their food -- and naturally have more ice cream for dessert! read more

Each time I've come here, the front and back staffers have been the most congenial and professional young adults. It really feels like they have a purpose and fulfill it willingly. A big pro is having scoops available at the same counter so we can prepay for ice cream sundaes while they bring out dinner...effectively killing two birds and all. It all feels like Americana defined by millennials who are run by folks keeping it decidedly old school. Prices are great for the area and if you can stomach Don Shula or Dan Marino, let's sit streetside and wait for Derek Jeter to walk by. Been here a few times. This last time was definitely lacking in friendly service. I came to order and sit outside with my small dog. From the dog beach. Immediately instead of a hello "can I ask you to keep the dog outside mam" mind you, there are no signs on this business that's say animals not allowed...asked if I could order first and with attitude said okay.I ordered and sat. We just stumbled on this very cute restaurant on Davis Island while exploring. They have a wide selection of beverages, from coffee to milk shakes. The salads are huge. The sandwiches are hand made to order. There are high top, regular tables and comfy chairs. you can even eat outside. Farrell's is great! Everyone goes crazy for their bagels and hot breakfast sandwiches, which means they're typically sold out of their top bagel choices by 11am, since they keep them fresh. Also, their bacon is the best I've ever had. Everyone there is really friendly and it's well priced (ahem, looking at you DI coffee). Decided to stop by here after having dinner and walking to our car. From the sports decor to the "average" ice cream shop feel, didn't look like it would be a frequent stop. Buy hold the cone,... Thaler ice cream is awesome! Hubs and I were full from dinner so decided to get only 1 cup. But we wanted to try different flavors. Not thinking they'd accommodate, I asked if we could have two different flavors in one cup...they said yes! Good price for the cup too. So we decided to eat it outside as it was a gorgeous night, and we LOVED both our flavors. This little gem may not be a lot to look at, but I'm coming back for the ice cream. They had other sandwich shop items on the menu but I can't speak to those as this was an impromptu ice cream visit.
