The space has that polished-yet-cozy energy that makes it easy to settle in whether you're here for a quick drink or making a night of it. We decided to try the calamari, and while it was cooked well, the flavor fell a little flat--it could've used a touch more seasoning or sauce to really make it pop. That said, the happy hour deals made it worth a try, and the portion was fair. The Donkey Kick, a Kentucky mule featuring four roses bourbon, house-made ginger-mint syrup was very good drink for happy hour. Where Battery really shined was in the service. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely friendly. The tuna wasn't served how I like it, basically no flavor and a stack of tuna served with some crackers. The bathrooms are very small, only 2 stalls. The battery is one of our favorite restaurants - living close by we come here all the time but we were not impressed this time. We were doing a happy hour that turned into apps & dinner. The food and drinks are always delicious but the service was brutal. It took us 20 minutes to get water, our drinks took 15-20 mins each. When they cleaned up our apps, they took our plates and silverware so when our next round of food came we had no silverware or plates. We asked our waiter for some and he didn't bring them so we had to ask other waiters. A drink was spilled on one of the guests at the table. Overall service was underwhelming and disappointing. We did talk to the manager Steve and he was very accommodating and made sure we didn't leave unhappy and he was wonderful. This is one of my boyfriends & i's favorite date night spot in Channelside. We came here in December on a Saturday before a lightning game and couldn't wait to come back this past Friday after the last regular lightning game of the season. We got here around 10PM and they were pretty empty. The inside has such nice ambiance, perfect for dinners. We started off with a cocktail which was delicious. We walked the river and then decided to have brunch and this place was perfect and greatly priced. Everything we ordered so so good! No complaints at all! I stopped in here for a cocktail after the Water Street night market and was pleasantly surprised. A fancier option than the usual spots of sparkman wharf. The bar seating is comfortable and great for people watching. The bar staff was friendly and attentive, and it was fun to watch them make drinks! We had the mimosas which was excellent because they allowed us to purchase a bottle and we had a variety of drinks and fresh fruit to make about 4 different kinds...pineapple, cranberry, orange and fresh fruit. We had sweet potato fries sprinkle with cinnamon tasted like a dessert and my daughter tried the lobster bisque...soo goddess I had to try and it ws hands down the best lobster bisque I've ever had. Last minute decision to stop at The Battery. Had ordered a white wine oaky Chardonnay to go which did not disappoint. Went back and had appetizers, cocktails and charcuterie board. They have a pretty decent happy hour 4-6. We had the seafood stuffed jalapeños and could actually taste the seafood. The parmesan truffles fries were good however could use a bit more truffle oil. Have been here a few times. It's a great spot to visit if you're in the Channelside area. Usually we'll come here for a quick drink before heading over to a concert at the Amelie Arena. The service is always good and they make great cocktails. It's very well decorated but a little tight on the weekends when it's busier. I had the strawberry infused bourbon drink, and it was really too notch. The disappointment came with our main entrees. The brick pressed chicken was tough and dry, and the skin didn't have the desired crispness one would expect from this type of cooking method. It was underseasoned and underwhelming. The salmon was overcooked and dry. It was also underseasoned. We had high hopes after tasting the oysters and were quickly let down by the meals. Nice hidden spot in Tampa. The decor and ambience was very nice, almost didn't fit the area though. It's located in Sparksman Warf, which is a mostly outdoor area so most people are dressed pretty casual. The waiter was great, very attentive especially since we had a party of about 16. Rough around the edges and can definitely elevate to be better than just okay. The decor and setting was nice! Bar area and tables plus a smaller dining area by the bottle of bourbon and whiskey. But the service was surely off-beat. With a reservation and an empty restaurant, try to seat us at the round table for 6 at the entrance...why? Wait staff, servers and runners definitely need more training. Kurplunk went a plate of Brussel sprouts for the adjacent table, and nary an apology to patrons plus leaving it all over the floor while more plates run wasn't a nice sight. That was even before we ordered a drink or foods. Plus the waiter didn't really know much about the menu except indicating what was popular. But it really didn't help that plates were run consistently without tableware or plates for most every course from charcuterie board, oysters, mains and even dessert. What gives?!? So let's stare at the food waiting for the waiter to bring them. And yes, tell the runner and wait for the other guy. And maybe even have three of the four settings of flatware set except mine that's on your platter. Need anything else you ask? How about flatware? Distracted or what? Yes, you want to place plates and silverware like a fancier dining but timing is still key. Before and not after! I'd come for the drinks and appetizers or charcuterie board, but not for dinner itself. Drinks were somewhat disappointing after the hype and expectations. Smoke That Pêche was not overly sweet or really anything remarkable. The Old Friend was probably better especially value, but not special either. Wife liked the Apple of My Eye. Duck prosciutto was good but liked the Gin & Juice Salumi more. Burrata was good but nothing special, see the trend? The Drunken Goat is harder than expected but good as was the Mahon. Rounding out the platter was pickles, olives, grapes, mustard, fig and bacon jams. Oysters from PEI were lackluster. Placing some on the convex shell means it sits without any brine. Leaving off the horseradish, then asking and waiting until last few didn't help. Lobster bisque was good. Crab sits on top of Salmon plus asparagus. Crème brûlée was good but the macaron was dry. The soup itself was good but by the time the waiter came to check on us it was too late. Secondly the service was very slow. My favorite food of the day was the ahi tuna appetizer. Fresh and delicious. The charcuterie board was very good, buf we mistakenly ordered three very similar meats. It would be great if someone noticed that, and was able to give us some advice. Or, if the restaurant offered a board of the night that they perfectly paired things together. This is tough. I so wanted to have rave reviews for this place, as it's beautifully decorated and has a great vibe. But the service and speed and overall food is just meh. It took us 45 minutes just to get our first drink, and an hour and 15 minutes to get our first app. Over all it was a two hour experience for a couple of apps and drinks. We had to get the bill as we had to make it to another engagement so didn't end up being able to order lunch. They said it was because they were waiting on the bread, even though we arrived right at opening so they should have had fresh bread waiting. We ordered an old fashion which was great and I ordered one of the cocktails called Find the Balance which was delicious. The appetizers we ordered were sticky wings and the seared ahi tuna. The outside wasn't crispy. It was more of an orange chicken type of breading but they were still satisfying. The store of that plate is definitely their housemade ranch. We also got them lobster mac & cheese which my friend also made me try lol. I thought it was decent, but it looked watery and was lacking a cheese flavor. It just tasted like butter, noodles and lobster chunks. Overall disappointing, But I will try again another day to see if they can redeem themselves. Lol. The entrée I ordered was the rigatoni Bolognese , the size of the dish was really good but after my first bite, I immediately knew it was lacking salt and pepper.
