During Covid they started doing a value meal takeout option which gives you a choice of a lunch size portion of an entree, cold appy, rice, shepherd salad, drink, pita. it is a great way to try different appetizers and entrees. I have tried many combos and now have my favorites I choose from. The staff is wonderful and my order is already ready on-time, always hot and delicious. Dining in is a great experience too. Exquisite. If you're in the area and love Mediterranean food this is a must stop! The staff is very friendly and service is quick. The pita that they serve for the table is warm and soft perfect pairing with their hummus appetizer. For mains we ordered the mixed Grill and chicken chops, both meats were delectable as the mean fell right off of the bone and was extremely flavorful. Coming from a town with a plethora of Turkish restaurants, I really didn't have high hopes for this restaurant. Boy, was I wrong! This place overdelivered on every aspect. The presentation of the table, the way they handled our BYOB champagne that we brought, and the overall quality of waiters/waitresses. The food was great--we ordered 2 mixed platters, the appetizer platter, and much more for a group of 6. Let me just say, the atmosphere is excellent and our waiter was one of the top waiters that I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He was so professional! Just ordered takeout for lunch off the lunch special which includes soup r salad, an appetizer, and an entre for $14.99. We ordered the lentil soup, babaganoush, lamb adana as well as a second order for shepherd salad, eggplant salad, and chicken kebab, and a baklava dessert. The amount of food was impressive with generous appetizer portions. I liked how they include couple slices of the pita as well as a small side of the tsaziki sauce per order. The rice is so buttery and yummy. Currently so stuffed with lots of leftovers for dinner. The baklava was soooo good and i'm very happy I added that to my order. Went here over the weekend, our second time eating here. It's a little pricey but worth it, the place was very clean, the food and service was excellent. Nice and quiet, not crowded and no long waits for seating or food. We did notice the $8 fee for sharing on the menu but it stated for large parties of 6 and over.. we all tried each others food and didn't get charged for it.. So off the menu I held I my hand my cost would have been $31.00 w/tax. When I picked it up the prices have increased like 40%. My cost came to $47.98. Ooofah! I know ever one is struggling to keep our heads above water but we shop at Walmart not at Short Hills Mall!!! Being a former restaurant worker I gave them a nice tip for walking it to the counter. Excellent! From the menu, to the food, to the location and to the friendliest service. We started with the fabulous hummus and soft pita. My mom had the lamb shank and I had the lamb Adana, both were delicious. Sides of rice and salad were great. I loved the mint yogurt sauce. This place is a hidden gem. I came here a few times now with friends and family. Food: I personally suggest the platters if you are coming with a group of people or even two. They have plenty of options and it is a great way to try a few items on the menu in smaller portions. Their meats are all juicey and grilled to perfection. Everything was tender and all the sauces meld well with all the meat and side dishes. I never had their dessert so I can't make much of a comment or suggestion on that. Their portion size is good for two people. They are pretty big so I do say do a little at a time and you can alway add more as you eat. Service: Great service. We kept asking what we should try and they were the ones that suggested the platters. They could have told use to each get a plate which would have cost more but they kept mindful of how we wanted to try everything but not break the wallet. The place is BYOB and there is a wine store right down the plaza that they are in. Overall: I think this is a great place to try. I never been here on a busy night or day but their food is delicious. There was a couple of minor issues with our order--we tried to get a combination kebab but ended up with two separate kebabs (which means twice the price) but didn't complain cuz we figured we'd just have extra...no big deal. But somehow our request for fries got overlooked and when I mentioned it to the lady at the desk they didn't take ownership over the mistake--said they'd make them if we had time to wait AND charge us for them (after ordering a hundred dollars worth of other food). Why oh why did I not discover Fasil sooner? This place just jumped into my top 3 favorite Mediterranean restaurants in Jersey! They have the whole package. Great food, great service, good prices, good ambiance. Let's talk kebabs. It's all about the meat quality, seasoning, and cooking technique. Perfect 5 in each category! The lamb shish, kofte, and grilled shrimp were all seasoned and cooked perfectly. A side of buttery rice and fresh salad perfected my platter along with what I love most - a good side of white sauce and hot sauce (gotta ask for it kiddos). I'm pretty new to the Mediterranean dessert game so I took a chance and ordered the Kazandibi, described to me as a caramelized milk pudding with cinnamon. It was soo lovely. The taste and texture were both new and exciting. If you're a newbie like me, it's a must try. I must be one out of several Fasil fans. This place was packed on a Saturday night! Sheesh, thank god for reservations. Our party of 6 was sat right away as promised and the excellent service followed us all the way 'til the end of our meal. Hi Fasil Owner, I am sorry to write this review and I personally never thought I would right such a review for Fasil. To be frank I always liked this place and will sure come back again. I have no second thoughts about it. But today it was a bad experience. We ordered chicken kofte kebab, yogurt chicken kebab, falafel snack, grape leaves and white bean salad and the two current specials lamb shank and vegetable artichoke. Firstly, surprisingly food got delayed than my previous visits there. Out of all the dishes, lamb shank, white bean salad and Yogurt chicken kebab were good but to my surprise falafel was too salty and had a burnt taste to it. Chicken kofte kebab was tender but again too salty too. The disaster was the vegetable special dish thats with artichoke, carrots something. My bad not asking if its a cold dish but even then the taste was bad. My learning for sure is instead of trying variety going with our regular adana or regular kebab is better. Ordered at 6:20 by phone on a Saturday. Sure, they're busy. They say it will be 25 minutes for pickup. We came 30 min later to pick up our simple meal- one entree and 2 apps. After waiting for twenty minutes after paying, i asked if they would please check, I made no complaint. She shrugged and said "well, when its ready, someone will bring it." So, we finally got our food almost 55 minutes after ordering. Next time, just tell us it'll be longer, its that easy. Dined here on a Saturday night with five in our party. Made reservations for 6:15p just to make sure we had seating. We arrived promptly to find the restaurant was barely half full. I thought perhaps we ate earlier or this place didn't get much traffic. From reviews, I thought perhaps we were early compared to rest of civilization. Place was sharply decorated with fine tables and cushioned back chairs. Tables had 'reserved' on them (nice touch of class). Good ambience lighting and decor. We were seated and immediately greeted by Mehmet, our waiter, who was friendly and helpful throughout the night. I explained it was our first time dining there and fairly new to Mediterranean fare. He understood and made several recommendations from appetizers to main course and dessert. His recommendations were spot on and descriptions of dishes were accurate. We definitely ordered an assortment of appy's main dishes that gave us a good introduction to Med cuisine. Refer to the photos and descriptions for our experience. TIP: its BYOB. Also has take-out. OVERALL: positive experience. Friendly and helpful staff. Service pace average. Food slightly above average but I thought flavors were not as savory as I had imagined Mediterranean cuisine would be. This place is a surprising gem. Sitting on the patio, with its grass wall and blue mood lighting separating you from the parking lot, you're a little world away. The food is so fresh and genuinely Turkish -- we were in Istanbul last year and it matched anything we had while there. Our waiter was actually Turkish, just moved to the US five months ago. He was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is also BYOB, and conveniently there's a store with an expansive wine selection three doors down. Highly recommend the Shepherd's Salad (add feta) and the Mixed Grill. The pita breads come out warm (yum) and the hummus is fabulous. read more

Only thing we did not like is separate entrée for each person... My review is based on the only thing I've ever ordered there so please take that into consideration. Their other food could be alright. However, I am being generous in offering even 2 stars for whatever they are passing as a Greek Salad. It's possible that this may pass for a Greek Salad in this area of NJ, but just 20 minutes away in Montclair, any Greek restaurant would be disgusted to see what they serve as a Greek Salad. For $20.15 before tip, my Greek Salad included a bed or iceberg lettuce with 4-5 cherry tomatoes (cherry tomatoes? Never seen these before), a sprinkle of red onions (they got the kind of onion right, but nowhere close to what you'd expect), a healthy portion of Feta (the Feta was great), a total of 4 olives (had to count it was so ridiculous), some red peppers and one SMALL grape leaf. It also included grilled chicken after I added it on and that was solid. I should have taken a picture of this massive disappointment. Never order the Greek Salad here. read more
