UPDATE 12/14: We went back to inspect the old house and the things we found made it drop from "okay" to "unacceptable. 1. They just completely did not pack the master bathroom. 2. They actually left behind quite a few other random items (really random - cat toy, belts, an ALREADY PACKED BOX, and a lot more stuff!). 3. While unpacking we noticed they BROKE a guitar. 4. I mentioned they ate some of our snacks. I had thought one mover got a bit hungry and ate a chocolate or two. That was not the case. Upon checking the trash (yes, they left behind their trash) we realized they ate ALL of our snack foods, including some expensive ones! They didn't even ask! Now we are continuing unpacking and praying they did not break or STEAL anything else. This is honestly really very disappointing. The good: -Everyone wore masks, respected social distancing -They arrived on time (actually 5 minutes early) -Fast, efficient -They packed our dishes/glassware very carefully and everything was safe -Final price was actually CHEAPER than the estimate. We requested full service (including packing) but ended up packing about 50% of our apartment first, not sure if that was part of it. The not so good: -Prior to the move, communications was slow at times. -They asked us to provide lunch, even specifying they wanted burgers and cokes lol (probably we would have provided something anyway, but we had to go out of the way to Richmond to find Burger King because Sunset doesn't have much in the way of fast food...). -It appears they helped themselves to some chocolates we had lying around. Again would have been fine if they asked, but they didn't ask us. :( UPDATE12/14: Upon further inspection they ate ALL of our snacks!! And left wrappers behind!!! This is NOT OKAY. -They left some random things behind at our old apartment, like soap and shampoo in the master bathroom, and even a part of a desk. -We topped $200 ($50 pp) and they were very clearly disappointed with this. Thankfully, they didn't demand more money like some of the other reviewers experienced. More info: -From the name of the proprietor we had hoped they'd speak Mandarin Chinese, but the team they sent us spoke Mongolian. At least one of them had good English and the others spoke decent English so it was no problem. . I think management would be better off charging higher prices from the get go rather than making staff expect big tips (as it seems many reviews mention this issue) and probably paying their staff for lunch too. This company was recommended by a friend. We decided to try them out back in 2017. They started off fine until partway through the move noticed they broke our countertop while moving our refrigerator. I waited to see if they would own up to breaking the countertop and asked them a few minutes later what happened. Strike 1 The movers claimed it was already like that when they got there. When I mentioned I saw them do it, they started to backpedal. We called Andy to get it fixed. On the delivery to our new house, the same crew flooded our kitchen while installing the waterline to the fridge. They jury-rigged the waterline using a cupping joint they broke. This time I saw them do it. I wait for an opportunity for them to own up to their error, but they never did. I asked them what happened. Strike 2: The crew said it was like that when they arrived. When I told them I saw them do it, they backpedalled again. After the move, they asked for a tip. I gave them no tip. I told them to be honest instead of lying, it would get them farther by not lying to the customer. As for the broken counter, a different crew came back to fix the counter. They did a pretty good job; however, their commentary (in Cantonese) about my spouse being of African American descent, was not appropriate and unprofessional. Recommendation, be sure to get it in writing and get a receipt. read more

Took amazing care of our stuff (even the cheap furniture that doesnt feel like it "deserves" it ). Estimated/quoted time was right on. They included several wardrobe boxes, which was sooo helpful! They also went above and beyond - gathered a bunch of the random leftover stuff that wasn't packed and put it into boxes, which lessened our clean-up work at the old spot. We booked this moving company through the app "Moved." There was good and bad to our experience, and I'll start with the good. The Good: They provided very efficient and courteous service and arrived on time at 1pm (in a given window between 1-3pm). They came prepared with lots of packing tape, plastic wrap, and extra boxes if needed. They were also very proactive about assembling new boxes and packing up additional items. The move for a 1 bedroom apartment about 20 miles away took 3 people around 3.5 hours, including the drive in some traffic. The Bad: They dropped the couch while moving, which scraped some of the paint off the wall and also stained the couch. We may have to use some treatment or paint thinner to remove the paint. They also chipped the wooden TV stand during the move, despite it being wrapped in plastic. I was disappointed in their careless mishandling of furniture given their years of experience. Both apartments had elevators, so I don't think they had a good excuse for the damage that was done. They also charged extra for helping pack items and providing moving boxes, so the final cost was about 30% more than initial quote. On top of that, they even had the NERVE to ask for tips at the end! SO, pack your items yourself, and check your furniture condition before tipping! read more

Top notch experience with Andy's moving company, upon the recommendation of multiple coworkers. Tseegii, Kosoo, and Ragchow worked so efficiently. They got the job done in half the time (2.5 hrs) that Andy estimated (5 hrs) with stairs on both sides and a very difficult apartment to get out of. They were very positive and polite - the one moving items into our carpeted bedroom even took his shoes off. I didn't ask or expect him to but thought that was so nice! Pricing is fair, there might be cheaper upfront quotes out there but with movers you get what you pay for and these guys didn't waste a second. This is the first time I have had the crew show up on time, and not a single broken item. Plus they took great care of my heavy digital piano so I saved a huge chunk of change compared to hiring separate movers for that. If you are reading this it means you are planning to move and know how stressful a move can be, let alone with 3 kids involved! On Friday Aug 10 (That is when we received the keys to our new house) I called few moving companies and decided to go with Zhang due to its impeccable "5 star reviews" let me tell you guys, it was the biggest mistake I have made in a long time! They were supposed to come at 2PM on Saturday Aug, 11th, so my wife and I packed everything, I even disassembled all the furnitures and took anything I could downstairs (To save time!) by 12PM everything was packed and ready, at 1:30PM we get a call telling us that they are running late and that they will be there at 4PM! We said ok, time to relax a bit right? NOOOOO!!! At this point I was very frustrated and I started looking for other alternatives, as I had a feeling that they will never show up, unfortunately I wasn't able to find a 24 foot truck for the next day, so I had to wait for the mercy of Mr. Zhang!!! NOT!!!! Well guess what happened at 3:30PM, we received another call saying that they are running late and will be there at 6PM!!! at 6:30, still no show (And who the hell is going to come over to move my shit at 6:30PM, after hauling furniture all day) I called him, just to find out that he can't get a hold of his driver! I told him, let's move it to 10AM the following day, can you guess what he said? I didn't! "I can't come in at 10AM as I have another commitment for that time" I asked him what about the commitment he had for us for my family at 2PM for that day? I was very upset with him and very emotional, so I yelled a bit and he hung up the phone! I tried calling him 10 more times, he kept ignoring my calls, so I texted to see if they will come the following day, no answer!!! He pretty couldn't care if we move or not! which is really sad and tell you a lot about a company! (People why the 5 stars, where are the real reviews!!! you are messing with people's livelihood here, no joke!) I loaded my wife SUV with anything I could and told her to drive to the new house with the kids and sleep on a blowup mattress! I'm so thankful for these guys! I found a free baby grand piano but needed to get it moved asap from the previous owners' house south of SF up to Rohnert Park area. They responded so fast, and communicated really efficiently. They charged a flat rate and really took care of the piano. I felt bad because of the difficulty the steps up through the front entryway of my house may have caused for them, but they made it happen. I loved hearing them talking to each other and laughing while setting up the piano with care. One of them played the piano when they were done and it made me so happy. I would call them again for help in a heartbeat and I'd trust them with my piano any day. read more

Zhang Movers moved my stuff from a two-bedroom apartment, and they did a fantastic job-moving it during a pandemic (respecting safety precautions), and on a 4th of July holiday. I had good communication with lead mover, Andy, and his Mongolian crew were all great and responsive! They securely packed the large fragile items, and delivered it safely and intact. For example, a large leather sectional couch, a very heavy glass table, which they unassembled and reassembled at my new place, and lastly my vast collection of various size potted plants, and a super heavy avocado plant that Andy amazingly lifted it and planted the potted the plant at my desired location. It was impressive, but I hope he was physically okay for exerting all himself for doing it. They are punctual, professional, fast and efficient. The time to move all my stuff took about 5 hours. The cost of the move was a little more than I expected, but they provided two moving trucks and 5-7 strong men to move it. They made my moving experience less stressful, and looking back...it was well worth it. I would hire them again. read more

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. We used Fast and Reliable services to move locally within SF in April 2021. We have lived in the city for 10 years and have moved 5 times in this duration. This was the longest and the most expensive move for us. DB Zhang's team was nice and careful but lacked energy and was extremely slow. They started our building's move at 8 am and ended it at 6.30 pm -- this was a 2 bedroom apartment and we were almost packed with boxes. We paid our building an additional $400 on top of the exorbitant charges that the oving service charged because they were way out of the time window that was assigned to them, which makes a local 20 min move within San Francisco a whopping $2590, double of average cost of local moves for 2 bedrooms with the city. Their truck was also too small and we had to make multiple runs back to our home (thank god it was a 20 min drive) to just pick up our stuff that they left. They also left screws from our shelves and TV mounts just on the floor, and we were scrambling to put things back in our new home. Their team was hungry and slow in the morning, and so we bought them lunch and drinks so they felt better. After 3-4 hours, they were so tired that their team member took 55 min to assemble a baby crib (I did this recently and took me 25 min). They didn't unpack our mattresses and left the plastic on. The boxes were labeled and they kept the boxes in the wrong rooms, which made it really difficult because we had to rearrange heavy boxes within floors. We were not happy with their service and would NOT recommend them.  They also left a massive hole and damaged our wall. Never informed us and covered it up with mirror. The owner was told about this review prior to posting and didn't do anything to fix. read more

I have used Zhang's Moving Co twice since moving to SF. One of the things I love about them is that they are so- to the point. I don't really want to small talk with my movers. I am embarrassed that I have to hire movers and I feel so bad that they are moving my heavy stuff- and I think if I make small talk with them I will end up feeling worse. But they always come and jump into work- and won't stop moving. They are so efficient and have their process down. They were almost 1.30hours late to our meeting time and could have been better at communicating that but it did give me more time to finish packing. I will use them again. read more

I had Zhang's move my 150 year old, 700 pound piano. They did an amazing job! I had scouted out almost a dozen piano moving companies and Zhang's was clearly the best option. Moving pianos is extremely nerve wracking--even if you are just observing the process. They moved my piano up a difficult flight of stairs and placed it perfectly in my living room. They took many steps to prevent damage to my piano, the staircase, and the entryway. If I moved again, I would definitely trust them to ensure the safety of my piano. I used them twice in the past month. First to move the bulk of my stuff out of the condo I was selling and then again to move over the furniture that was left behind for staging. One glass table got chipped (not sure how that happened since it was well wrapped in a blanket) and they were extremely apologetic and gave a nice discount to make up for that. Handled our move within the Mission on March 3, 2021. Very efficient, effective, and the foreman was friendly and professional. Third time using these movers in 10 years and would use again. They did somehow miss our appointment but got a truck out to us as quickly as they could, and gave a small discount to help compensate. I noticed a little minor damage on a few items afterwards but all very minor, like a little nick on the back corner of a dresser. If there's anything you absolutely can't have damaged, then just ask them to wrap it up extra and treat it specially. If I could give 10 stars I would. I called 17 moving companies looking for someone to move a piano less than 2 miles away. Zhangs movers were on time, super efficient and executed the move perfectly. The destination was in an apartment elevator to the 6th floor. I appreciated how they wrapped up this piano with thick mover blankets and wrapped it up in plastic as well. Their price is very fair and I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND and use this company again. They did this under an hour. I've dealt with movers before. These guys are VERY GOOD, PROMPT & PROFESSIONAL. We did two moves with Zhang's crew during COVID. First was a full service pack-and-move from a SF/Mission apartment into a storage unit in Daly City; and then some months later, much of the same crew moved it all from storage to a home in SF/Glen Park. Both residences had stairs and some tricky/narrow spots. Money saved: On the first move (getting our stuff into a storage facility), they unexpectedly saved us a boatload of money by suggesting that they 'might be able to' fit everything into only one of the two units we had rented - which they ultimately achieved! They tetris'ed things in real tightly. So we were able to cancel a monthly bill for a 2nd storage bay that we didn't need. COVID notes: 1st move was mid-pandemic. Everyone wore masks and were good with distancing. By the second move several months later, both the crew and ourselves were vaccinated, so we all eased up, with a couple of movers masked even when outdoors per their preference. Expectations & hints: We had researched expectations for movers in general and specifically for SF area - so we were prepared to provide lunch (speeds up the job since they don't have to figure out a local lunch place or take time out to order and fetch) - and we knew that we'd tip %20 if things went according to plan, which they did. Sandwiches + drinks/bananas/apples were well received, we just asked which sandos they wanted and the foreman made it easy for us with one zero-fuss answer for the crew. Figuring out a truck parking plan in advance helped to ease time and labor. Cash payment is welcome. How things went: Movers were very timely, showing up a bit early in each case. They worked hard and quickly in both moves - there didn't seem to be any idle time. The second move (from storage to house) was incredibly efficient and I think under time - 4 hours from arrival at storage unit to truck loading until items were fully unloaded into the house. We found communication with the crew to be easy - the guys were solid with instructions, smart with furniture disassembly/reassembly, and respectful of our home and furnishings. Cosmo led our crew, with Aaw, Hosoo, and Bicubo if I have their names right. Cosmo was a great translator for the crew and had a sense of humor. The team showed up on time and was able to move us from the Bay Area to Los Angeles LITERALLY overnight. I read the reviews, and expected high quality work at a good price. Needed a move from an apt to a house and so three guys came. They came and initially worked hard, probably for 2 hours. Then one of the three basically checked out for the rest of the time, smoking cigarettes like nobodies business. Two men did the work for three and an 6 hour job took 9. The kicker was the added hidden fees at the end for helping pack clothes in moving boxes. They threw in an extra $100 in random fees. In sum, we felt ripped off and fairly powerless.
