Heavy boxes on fragile boxes, broke glassware, etc.
    Saminda W.

I have used Corrib in the past for a a few city moves and they did a good job with minimal damage to items, except for one where they shattered a glass table and replaced it with a knock-off (which I pointed out to them and they corrected later). For this last move where they were packing for a cross-country move on an trailer, the quality was very poor as documented by the attached photos. An expensive $2K+ glass coffee table was ruined due to them shoddily wrapping in a blanket. A very nice $1K+ living room chair was damaged by them not wrapping the legs and propping it against a metal railing that carved into it like a saw as a result during transit. Equally expensive flat screen TVs were packed by partially wrapping in paper, that's it. Multiple heavy boxes were placed on top of fragile items causing damage. See the photos and video from the movers who unpacked all of these items. Most concerning is the response to the feedback. The manager Kevin apologized, admitted to the negligence: "I will approach my crew about these flaws and mistakes and try to insure they don't happen in the future ... The glass should have been boxed not blanket wrapped. The chairs should not have been placed the close to the metal rail.", -but then said "good luck". They had refused to insure the move since they said could not be responsible for poor transit but when you actually *admit to the negligence* that resulted in the irreparable damage to thousands of dollars of items, shouldn't you as a practice of good business do something/anything other than saying it's not your problem? When I said his response was disappointing, he said "I cannot offer more than an apology and wish you best of luck win your new home and try to understand that in a move across the country you had 1 chip on a piece of glass and 1 scratch on a dining leg and a couple broken dishes. ( should not have happened ) but please try to have a bit of perspective on the scope of your move and the huge discount you got compared to using a long distance company." I don't know how a lower cost than full service movers excuses negligence but in Kevin's mind, it does. It's like he is saying you get what you pay for, lower cost = lower quality. He also asked me to compare them to the movers here in Maryland. I told him they (the ones I used to unpack) were cheaper, more professional, and lower cost. He then sent me stale cost of living data for Maryland with an erroneous conclusion about it being cheaper here than the rest of the US to justify the lower cost which I corrected. The defensiveness and lack of true accountability is disappointing. I wasn't asking him to pay for replacements or anything like that, but felt like something more than "I'm sorry, good luck" was merited. Kevin has replied band said I would not have written the review if he had paid me. That is a LIE. I never asked him to pay me in exchange for a review. I wrote a review describing my experience for his unsatisfactory response to the issues I raised. In fact, in a reply to the review on Google, he wrote "Everything Saminda has stated above is accurate." He also said he "I will happily share all our correspondence with anyone who wants to read", even though it is illegal to share private correspondence with a customer without their consent. So in this reply, he changed that to "if anyone wants more info, please reach out" which still implies he's happy to air out exchanges with a customer to make his case. This is the type of business manager you'd be working with folks, so as Kevin would say "good luck!". If Kevin did share the correspondence, ironically it would clearly illustrate that I was not asking for money in exchange for not writing a review. I wrote the review of the poor experience because of his lack of care for his team's direct responsibility in the damage to those items, it was a poor outcome. But it's an easy narrative for him to concoct and one that still dismisses the point that he thought nothing more was needed than an "I'm sorry, good luck" when he admitted his team's negligence caused the damage. If you had a bad experience with a company where they admitted negligence and fault and expected some form of restitution and they resolved it, would you write a positive review? Probably yes. And if they didn't, wouldn't you be entitled to write a negative review? YES! That's the thing I want everyone to understand. Because he legally didn't have to do anything, he won't. And you can see his underlying tone, it's dismissive, sarcastic and condescending, and clearly something he has had to deal with before so he has a playbook he runs: blame the customer. Last, he said there have always been issues with the prior moves. That's ANOTHER LIE. I've had good experiences the prior times, tipped the guys handsomely each time, recommended him to friends who have used them for moves as recent as 6 months ago. But none of that fits his story.

At the end, our moving cost was less than Kevin's estimate because our movers were so very good, and Kevin is honest.

He walked me through every step of the process, answered all of my questions, and even helped me find every available discount. From the very first phone call, I felt I was in great hands. When the moving team arrived, Sasha (Alex), Zhenya (Eugene), and Sergey (Serge), that's when the real magic happened. These three are like modern day Spartans: strong, precise, efficient and incredibly patient. They immediately earned my complete trust. I was moving from a two-bedroom apartment (Dublin, CA to Danville, CA) filled with fragile furniture, glass pieces, mirrors, artwork, and a massive 9 foot tall, extremely heavy mirror. I honestly didn't think it was possible to move everything without damage. The way they wrapped and protected every single item was beyond impressive. There was simply no chance anything could break. They completed the entire move, including carefully wrapping, loading, transporting, unloading, and placing everything exactly where I wanted it, in less than 8 hours. The anxiety and stress of moving disappeared the moment I saw how professional and organized they were. The service felt truly VIP, the pricing was very affordable, and the entire experience was completely hassle-free. If you're not booking this company, you're missing out. I highly recommend them, especially James, Sasha, Zhenya, and Sergey. They went above and beyond, and I am sincerely grateful for everything they did. Thank you, James, Sasha, Zhenya, and Sergey! You made what could have been a stressful day an absolutely exceptional experience. I will recommend you to everyone I know!

I have mixed feelings about my move. On one hand, booking was very easy and Pure Moving was able to…read moreaccommodate my move in 2 days notice. My movers communicated when they would arrive and showed up on time. I feel they overall handled my belongings with care and things went smoothly and efficiently. I was moving things from a 10x10 storage unit into a 1 bedroom apartment about an hour and a half away, with 1 stop to pick up a couch along the way. Total time took about 5.5 hours. On the other hand, things got weird when it was time to pay. I didn't appreciate feeling pressured when they tried to tell me that a 30% tip was the standard. I gave them 20%, which I felt was a good tip and standard for a good job. I was also pressured into writing both a Yelp and Google review, leaving them 5 stars as they hovered over me. I am coming back and editing my review now that I've had time to reflect on things. This explains all of the 5 star reviews!
