I had some gas leak on pipe connections to water heater and the gas company disconnected the gas supply. Jim was recommended by another plumber because he told me that he does not do the gas piping when I contacted him. Jim is really great, funny and friendly, quick responses, punctual timing, great job quality, most most importantly, I believe everyone cares about this, the charge is soooooooo REASONABLE! Probably more reasonable than most of others if not the most reasonable one. Honestly I had some big brand came in one day before and quoted a ridiculous price for the repair in the name of "following the code", meaning he wanted to add couple of more jobs with much more money. And he did not want to do the reconnection job only! Watch out for this guy Mac. He keeps a tiny squirt bottle to drench the pilot light and gas igniter with water so it would seem that it's non functional and wont light up and will just so happen to have a water heater ready in the vehicle to sell you and install. I'm not sure what other tricks he uses but I did catch him using the little water squirter. Yes it's affordable yes it's quick and fast but your water heater might work fine and longer if he actually looked at it and resolved the problem instead of forcing you into buying a new one. read more

On Monday we had just replaced a 20-year-old furnace for our two-flat. On Wednesday morning we woke up to its sibling, the water heater, also dead. Since we're all home all day (pandemic), hot water is kind of important in our lives. What to do? Fastplumbing247 came up with some pretty great reviews here on Yelp and they seemed legit (I try to read between the lines with online reviews). I gave them a call (after looking up prices on water heaters) and was pleasantly surprised that my experience matched the reviews I had read. I sent a couple photos of the old unit, and within 5 minutes I had an estimate, a lot of questions answered, and a plan to get a new water heater installed that day. They showed up on time (by noon, after I called around 9 am), got the job done (in a tight space), fixed a few additional items along the way, and got the old rusty monster (75 gal) out by 4 pm. The price was totally reasonable and better than I expected. The guy who installed it was friendly, professional, and respected our social-distancing and masking needs (again, the pandemic ...). We didn't go more than 8 hours without hot water. Could have been MUCH worse. I asked if they do other plumbing work, and the answer was "occasionally," but they pretty much just install water heaters all day around Chicago. I imagine that could indeed keep a company busy. Anyway, they've gotten really good at it - efficient, cost-effective, well-prepared, and competent. All the things you want for an appliance that could potentially explode or flood your house. Well it's all in the name, Fast Plumbing 24-7. My wife had coordinated with Mac to get a quote after initially trying to work with another company and it was taking them too long to respond back. After talking with Mac and within 24 hours of initial conversations, we had our water heater scheduled to be replaced. And as scheduled, they showed up right at 8am to get in and get it done. Our 75 gallon water heater was unfortunately unable to be lifted and brought out of it's position in the utility closet (not their fault, but the builders of our unit's fault). But not to worry, Jim was able to hack at the dry wall and open it up to be able to bring out the old and replace with the new water heater with his assistant on deck. Overall, I'm pretty impressed they were able to get it all done in just over 2 hours even with the dry wall road block. And while I'll need to get a contractor to get the dry wall fixed, somehow the price to do the work came out $600 cheaper than what they originally quoted, so it should be no problem to get someone in to get the wall replaced with the money saved.
