You can't go wrong with Fat Anthony's! If you are in the mood for a sandwich and are hungry, this is the place to go! The portions are huge, prices are affordable and staff is patient and friendly. Our sandwiches were about 10 bucks each and lasted us two meals each since portions were so plentiful. What more can you ask for? We ordered: 1.) Tuna sandwich (pressed) 2.) BLT Everything was delicious. I got a side of pickles with my sandwich that I was happy with and some salt and vinegar chips. You can even buy homemade hot sauce here if you are interested! This small joint is definitely worth visiting. It has the essence of small town Julian and has great meal options for taking on a hike or picnic. We will definitely be back!

Nestled in the small town if Julian California. Amazing food always. And a nice Deli I recommend you stopping in and see them . They make you feel like family. Friendly staff and service. Had the no no sandwich it's a cheese steak sandwich. It melts in your mouth. One of the best ones I ever had I will be back and I recommend them to anyone

Needed a quick spot to eat while in the Julian area. The 12" is enough for 2 people. I don't remember the name of the sandwich I tried but it was pretty good & I added the Italian veggies, which were a great addition to it. Overall, this was a cute mom & pop shop that makes great sandwiches & I highly recommend if you're in the area!

I live in Borrego and took a drive up to Julian just to go to Fat Anthony's for lunch. Really cute place with Italian music playing outside. Anthony and his staff are very welcoming and super sweet. Their sandwiches are huge. I got a 6 inch Big Meano and they have tons of toppings to add. I made two meals out of it! I also bought a couple of his parfait cheesecake cups. I had the lemon and the mixed berry. They were so delicious. He had a steady stream of customers and lots of things to pick from to feed your belly. Prices were extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. I would definitely return to Fat Anthony's to try other menu items. Just go there you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely amazing BLT sandwich. Fun to grab lunch in the cute park across the street. A great find!

We stopped at Fat Anthony's right before heading home. We got a Capo sandwich and a slice of cheese. Both were Delicious!! The pizza cheese and sauce were super flavorful. The sandwich was amazing I have to say one of the best I've ever had. It's a must try. Super clean facility and everyone is very nice.

I've had a lot of sandwiches from many different Italian spots. This is a 6 STAR for me. If you come to town this is by far the only place to eat. Everything was fresh, can't go wrong with any of the macaroni salads. Thank god it's 120 miles from.

    Italian sub with Italian vegetables

Italian submarine with Italian vegetables was excellent. The foot long is huge and enough for two to split. There was a large amount of veggies along with the pickled Italian ones. It was late in the afternoon so there wasn't much of a wait. You know it's good when the day old leftovers are awesome! The whole wheat was of high quality bread that added to the all around great sandwich. Looking forward to coming home to try the meatballs.

6" Capo sandwich - very tasty.

My wife and I split a Capo 12" sub sandwich. Very delicious. Quality meats with fresh veggies on toasted bread. The server was friendly and helpful.

I've seen the sign "coming soon" for months. My cravings for a quality deli have been insatiable. Finally I heard word they were open and I headed on in ASAP . Anthony is such a people person I can see why he does what he does; also it is clear he loves what he does. I thought it was going to be a sandwich shop only but was pleased to discover it's a deli also. After Anthony offered up a few amazing samples the Italian sausage was calling my name. I got it to go. Also a turkey sandwich and cannoli. First off I was so happy with the Italian sausage! It was in a red gravy sauce with onions and peppers as requested. This is quite possibly the best sausage I've had since leaving the Midwest. Definitely sweet with a peppery finish. My partner really enjoyed her turkey sandwich and cannoli. We liked everything so much we went back today and got breakfast sausage and another sandwich for the kids. I also ordered some cappicola, prosciutto, and hard salami. It was all great. The prices are awesome here. Local or otherwise no complaints. It sounds like Anthony has both alot of ideas and is open to new ideas. I don't think people will be disappointed giving this establishment a shot One fair warning is watch out for ingredients in the deli meats. If you are sensitive to nitrates it does appear the meats that were there today contain nitrates. Overall I'm looking forward to going back and seeing what's coming down the pipe.

Absolutely delightful place and exceptional customer service. The sandwich (we had a NoNo) was DIVINE and packed with meat. A small mistake was made on our order and they graciously offered us a homemade treat to make up for it. Everybody in there had a smile as warm as the peppermint cocoa

This has become a go-to spot post-hike in the area and always is the treat I look forward to. On my most recent visit I had the BLT which had avocado, an egg, and chipotle mayo on brioche - hit the spot. Each sandwich comes on a different type of bread, which adds to the flavor profiles for each. Sometimes places just put it all on wheat or sourdough, but I like how the bread is paired to add to the sandwich. There's seating inside and out and always plenty of parking, though I can imagine on the weekend, it's more competitive. Although the spot has been around for a while, I just recently got introduced to it on enthusiastic recommendations from others, so I pass that enthusiastic recommendations onto you.

Maggie misses the fresh baked fruit bars and were soft and full of sweet fruit flavor.  Cashier told us they are only baked on Saturday now.  We touched the fruit bars and they were all hard from sitting around half the week.  It's sad as we loved stopping here after a trip to Julian for fresh baked treats and Doc Brown's Root Beer.  Looks like we will have to buy all our baked treats at one of the Julian bakeries like Apple Alley that bakes their pies every morning.  https://www.hungryones.com/2021/10/apple-alley-bakery/ Staff was nice and efficient.

It was late in the day, just after 2pm before closing at 3pm. They were sold out of couple side items. It was a bit windy that day, so it was very chilly. We started with a cup of creamy tomato soup. That hit the warm cozy spot! We decided on the bbq brisket sandwich with the potato salad. OMG, it was the perfect pairing! The sweetness of the sauce from the brisket and the tangy potato salad. I ate every bite together! I love fries and sweet potato fries, but they were sold out. Staff were super nice! There were still customers coming in for lunch after us.
