Original delivery time -6:53 actually delivery time 7:20 and we don't live that far away! Suffice it to say our order was cold which is unacceptable! Highly recommend this gem in Andersonville. The Chubbies (Pepperoni Rolls) with ranch and marinara are a crazy good appetizer. We'd never had Detroit-Style pizza before, and The Goods was phenomenal! Every pizza pan in this place will end up looking like my attached photo here. read more

The best pan pizza in the city! Think delightfully burned cheese edges, hefty tasty crust, lots of cheese and ample toppings. Compares well to Jet's, but a bit cheaper and with slightly better ingredients. Consistently very good delivery and pick up - to counter Paige's review earlier, we placed a delivery order yesterday and it actually came earlier than the 45min timeline that was promised. I don't think a lot of small local places handle early Fri and Sat evenings very well, you just can't alway expand and contract your workforce that effectively. Their thin crust pizza is not very good, fyi - I think they have it on the menu because they have to cater to broader audiences, it's just not their thing. Pan pizza is where it's at. My husband really likes Detroit style pizza (I prefer thin or Neapolitan) and decided to order delivery. He got a Margherita and a Carnie. The pizzas were delicious and even held up the next day after reheating in our air fryer. This says a lot as my expectations have not been high trying other places here in the city. read more

(I wrote the below message to the business before posting this, but never heard from anyone). We love supporting local businesses & have ordered from you numerous times. We have not ordered recently, and a few days ago I received a text message with a coupon code. I thought oh, we haven't ordered from there in a while and it's always delicious, we should order soon! We have young children and do late dinner on Friday because of activities they are in. We need it to be quick so they can get to bed. Perfect opportunity to place an order for pick up and have a quick dinner at home. We placed our order online at 6:39 PM, & it stated a 45 minute wait (very understandable for a Friday). It stated the pick up time as 7:24. We arrived at 7:15, less than 10 minutes early. I mentioned when I arrived that we were early so I was assuming it wasn't done yet, but we were in the area so I figured I'd just wait a few minutes. The person at the front immediately said well, if you are early, then you might actually be really really early, because we are way behind and we are slammed and it's going to be a long time. She looked at the order and then went to the back. When she came back out, she stated that they hadn't even looked at the ticket yet or started anything, and it was going to be at least an additional half hour wait, added onto our original time. She explained that we'd probably be waiting at least another 40 minutes. I was a bit surprised and mentioned that nobody had called to let us know about the delay, at which point she said that it's stated online that they are at a one hour wait. I said oh, I completely understand that, when we ordered it said 45 minutes, which we were completely fine with. But if it's going to be an additional 30+ minutes, it would just be helpful to know so that we don't show up at the original time, or so that we can plan accordingly. I then went on the website and stated to her that it's still showing the same time for pick up orders: 45 minutes. I mentioned that they may want to update that if it's looking more like 1.5 hours. Since we had young kids in the car, I asked if they'd be able to just deliver it instead, that way we could head home and get ready and set the table and then just have it delivered. She said sure, but that I would need to place the order again online because she couldn't change it to delivery. I don't have an account, so I'd need to add everything & do all of it over online . I asked if they'd be able to just resubmit my order on their computer by any chance, as it would take me a bit to cancel everything out and re-place the order with multiple items, different toppings, etc. She offered to do it on her computer, which I really appreciated. She then said it would be even longer for the delivery, which was disappointing but at that point we really didn't have any other options so I said sure, that's fine. Our original order total was $52. However, I had given a 15% tip in addition to that (yes, even for pick up, as we like to support local businesses and tip even when we are doing the pick up ourselves). With the tip, our total was $61. So she finishes placing the new order and tells me the total will be $77. I said wow, that's almost $25 more than our original order. She said yeah, there are fees for delivery. And that was without a tip! Once we add a 20% tip for delivery, it would be about $92, which is pretty steep compared to our original $61. If a place makes a mistake, you'd think that if anything they'd do something complementary such as remove an item from the order, or offer to deliver the order and waive the delivery charge since it was their mistake. Instead, we were essentially being asked to pay an additional $30 plus wait an additional hour, on a Friday night when it's already 7:15 and we have two young kids. At that point, the dinner would arrive past their bedtime. The whole experience was just disappointing. I completely understand that mistakes happen. This could be solved by simply updating the timeframe on the website, or calling the person who placed the order to update them and ask if they still wanted the order, or offering some type of discount or waiving the delivery fee. None of those things were done. There was no real effort to keep the customer. I thought about writing a review regarding our experience, however, it honestly pains me to have to write a negative review for a local place where we have been customers for years and had a good experience. Since I received an email asking for feedback, I figured I would provide it here first instead, in the hopes that it can be a learning experience for the business and that perhaps someone will reach out. I'd like to give that option first before publicly writing a review somewhere. I ordered a pizza and cheese sticks at 6:45 PM. Delivery time was 7:30 PM. At 7:50, I called to ask where it was. I was told the order was waiting, but the delivery driver wouldn't deliver until the next customer's order was done, about ten minutes. I walked to Fat Chris's and picked it up in eight minutes. I was handed a room-temperature pizza for the walk back. The cashier offered to cancel the driver tip as recompense. I'll not be ordering again. read more

Fat Chris's opened my eyes to how amazing Detroit Style Pizza can be! My brother ordered from Fat Chris's to celebrate the end of a crazy week and began telling everyone he knew how delicious it was -- including me. Not one to pass up a good food recommendation, I had to try it myself. My boyfriend and I ordered this pizza on a Friday night and we knew my brother was right after one bite! We ordered online for pickup and our pizza was ready in about an hour. We chose to go with the 8x10 - 4 slices with pepperoni on one side and ground beef on the other side and it was plenty for two. The crust is caramelized around the edges, which gave it a satisfying crunch. The cheese was also fresh and the tomato sauce unique and sweet. I dream about this pizza still. Long story short, if you're already thinking about it, do yourself a favor and buy this pizza! read more

Trying to keep this short and sweet, went here a month or so ago with some of my family and enjoyed our first Detroit style pizza experience. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We ordered a couple pizzas, forgot what toppings we got, although the pizzas itself was extremely fresh, amazingly crispy edges, well seasoned sauce, and very crispy. It was very refreshing compared to a regular Chicago pizza experience. I believe the chef came out and checked on us as well, which was a nice touch. They also had outdoor sitting, although it seemed like most people were getting pizza to go. Highly recommend. read more

Tried Fat Chris's as an alternative to Evanston's Union Squared. It was fine, but did not fully meet the mark for me. The pizza sauce has a unique flavor. I couldn't put my finger (taste bud?) on exactly what made it different than other pizza sauces, but there is something notable about it. Unfortunately, that was not enough to outweigh the dry corners of the pizza. The cheese and sauce did not go far enough to the edges, resulting in overcooked and bland ends of the corner pieces. Caesar salad was fine for the price, but not sure if amounted to the full 32 oz. listed on the menu. Apple strudel was tasty, though in my opinion probably $1-2 more than it was worth for the size, at least compared to local bakeries. read more

They're known for their Detroit style, rectangular pizza but to be honest, I've drifted away from deep dish, pan pizza, and anything that's thick like Detroit style. But why, you may ask? It's due to straight up greediness and gluttony. You see, I want to consume as much protein and veggies and cheese as possible and that means thin crust pizza!! :) And on this particular day, Foster Avenue was a bit too busy for outdoor dining so I decided to eat the pizza in the car and perhaps that enclosed space amplified the Cheesey, buttery goodness of the BBQ chicken pizza. After that first bite, I just knew I was hooked - the tangy BBQ, the chicken breast, red onions and that cheese - woah, I gotta come back for this. The other half was a traditional Italian style combo (the Goods) which was also very, very good. Pizza is good but delivery is awful. Placed an online order at 6:33PM with estimated delivery of 7:36PM. Called the restaurant at 8PM and was told they were behind and my pizza was not ready yet. Per the app my driver arrived at 7:25PM and the pizza was finally ready at 8:18PM and at my door by 8:23PM. Poor guy waited for 50 minutes when it should have been a 5 minute drive. I tipped him an extra $20 cash because I felt so bad. Please do better on your estimates out of respect for delivery drivers and customers. read more

If you are looking for a quick, no frills, delicious bite to eat in the area - look no further! My girlfriend and I were hunting for a last minute place to eat New Years weekend and stopped in. You order at the counter to do take out or dine-in. The dine-in area is pretty small, but it seems like they mostly do take out. You can build your own pizza (thin crust or Detroit style) or Stromboli/pizza fold for a reasonable price! Love that they have personal sized pizzas. I tell you I could sleep happily tucked into these perfectly pillowy soft garlic breadstick twists if I was that small. I have never experience dough that is so soft and fluffy. You have to order some. The Detroit style pizza was super tasty and crunchy. There weirdly seemed to be a lot of convenient parking on the side streets which was nice in the city on a Friday night. I ran over to Fat Chris's for takeout during the pandemic. The staff was all masked up and I was in and out pretty quickly. If you're ordering here, you *must* get the Detroit-style pizza. It's the biggest differentiator on the menu. It's bready and thick, but doesn't quite have the crunch of a place like Jet's or Pequod's. The pizza has a very generous slather of sauce on top of the cheese, which I loved. The sauce here is quite a bit sweeter than you'll find at most pizza joints. We also picked up some Chubbies (pepperoni rolls) and I liked them, but I'm not sure I'd get them again. They tasted way better after I reheated them in a toaster oven so the cheese was melty. I'm not sure they're worth $2/roll. I imagine the pizza tastes incredible straight out of the oven. It didn't hold it's temp very well on my 20 minute drive home. The simple originality of the Detroit style with the extra sauce slather is worth a visit. I'm a fan of anyone who breaks out of the box with pizza. read more

Pizza's ok. The Detroit style breadsticks are amazing, but I'm not a huge fan of the sweet/garlicky pizza sauce that Detroit style is known for. I haven't had the customer service problems that other reviews mention, but other than the cheese sticks I don't think I'll be ordering from here much. No they are not 'stuffed', it's rolled. So you can taste the wonderful overlapping flavors and crunch of the perfectly baked dough. I think the may slater it with parmesan after it's out of the oven. For Fun this I Brought a pc of Buddys from Detroit - and their was no comparison- Fat chris's tops!- Their generous amt of tangy sauce with a perfect amount of cheese and pocket crispy crusts. Buddys had far less tasteless sauce, minimal amt of chs & much more greasy .. & my guys love the tavern style thin crust perfect amt of flavored cheese and seasoning on top of that famous tangy sauce - A live person always answers the phone promptly and never require this prepay nonsense that other pizza places have adopted-no thanks won't even try theirs. . -Fat Chris's never disapponts-Great Detroit and tavern style pizza! read more

I would have sent this directly to the business but they only take phone calls if there is a problem with the order and it's been a couple days. This is meant to provide constructive criticism to help you improve your business. I ordered two large pizzas for delivery at 7:00 -- I was hosting a card game. The Pizzas arrived early and that was a little problematic because the large boxes wouldn't fit in the oven to keep warm. But we made it work. The pizza, I feel, used to be better. The Big Tex barely had any meat on it -- it was mostly barbecue sauce. Same with "The Goods". There was scant pepperoni and zero sausage. It felt like I paid $85 for two large plain focaccias. And I do have a question about the tip. The delivery guy sort of looked at me longingly for a tip when he handed me the pizza boxes and I wonder if he is getting the $12 I added to the bill. The best Detroit Style Pizza I've ever had, and that's saying a lot being born and raised in Chicago. Service is prompt and all called-in orders are ready upon pickup. The pizza was incredible, and I've had it a few times just to confirm before writing this review. It's worth a trip to try for those who want something other than deep dish or thin slice. It also takes less time to prep that style of pizza (about 20-30 mins), so if you're impatient and don't wanna spare 40-50 mins wait time for deep dish, this is it. The place appears to be under maintenance for the dine-in space, and sadly, there is no lunch buffet (as advertised or mentioned) at the time of this review.
