Anything with the crawfish is the m0s t popular. I recommend the Rum Runner for a nice lady drink.

We were on our way to a play, but wanted to get something to eat first. We went to Fat Crab . The place is pretty large with good music. We started out with oysters but only one person ate them. Our server was Taye and she was very attentive and friendly with familiarity of the menu. I got crab cakes and fried catfish and fries. Fish was fried perfectly (a little hard) overall, I give 5 stars.

This is one of my favorite seafood places to date. I've got to find more places to compare to but this is always my go to. We came on a slow day so service was decent. Our server didn't move too fast and didn't move too slow, we literally were the only ones in there. This place has great music selections. My friends and I sang the entire time we were here. I ordered a Seafood platter which comes with corn, potatoes, snow crab, mussels, crawfish and clams. One thing I didn't like was that's the mussels were a bit rubbery but the flavor was there. We also ordered Lemon pepper wings as a starter. The chicken wings were huge.... Huge!!! But overall this place his great and i highly recommend

I came across this amazing seafood spot after two previous disappointments, and I'm so glad I did! They're open late, and while I expected a crowd, it was actually pretty chill. (It was a Monday night though) We were seated immediately, and the service was great. Our water was served in cute little cups and since we had checked out the menu beforehand we were ready to order before we walked through the door lol I got 1 lb of snow crab and 1 lb of crawfish in their mild Cajun and garlic butter mixed sauce, while my date ordered 1 lb of snow crab and 1 lb of shrimp in the mild garlic butter sauce. Both our seafood boils came with 2 corns and 3 potatoes (I added 2 eggs as well) Both sauces were incredible, but the Cajun and garlic butter mix was chef's kiss.. (OMG finger licking good.. no butter needed and I Always.. ALWAYS need butter!!) the perfect balance of flavor and spice! Everything was cooked to perfection, and you could tell they truly know their seafood. The ambiance was just as good as the food. The dimmed blue lighting gave the place a cool, laid-back vibe, and the R&B music playing in the background made it even better. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a great meal and relax. On top of all that, the prices were super reasonable compared to other seafood places in comparison around the way! Our total food and 1 drink 1 beer came to just over $130 before tip, and a 15% gratuity was automatically included, which I didn't mind at all because our waiter was awesome. Overall, this place is definitely a new favorite, and I'll be back again very soon.. probably within the next week!

We love FAT Crab! The restaurant has a nautical feel and a great location on westheimer. The waitresses are friendly and helpful. The have a weekly crawfish special. I always get the spicy crab legs and shrimp. The flavoring is A plus! My son and mother loved the fish and shrimp! I will def be back!

Well I will definitely say that this is the hood spot and not in a bad way at all! I was so happy this place came in clutch after another spot (already did a review on it) fell through which was only 7-minute walk from Fat Crab. I was so happy that they stayed open until I believe either 1 or 2am which is so great! I wish the DMV would have seafood boil spots that stayed open that late! So they were deducted some points because of service. Now I know I said it's a hood spot and I guess there was only one young lady that had to wait on just about all the late time customers because service was slow. But other than that she did good was was attentive as she could be Now to the food...seafood tastes pretty good for them to be steaming it at midnight...lol My sister didn't like it she said the snow crabs tasted kind of old. But I didn't get any old seafood. I ordered the half pound head on shrimp and snow crab with additional 1lbs of crawfish spicy garlic. The star is the show was the drink! Skittle, skittle, skittle! Yes sir! Was so good! Had about 3 of them! Would I come again when I'm the area definitely...but as I said it's a little hood so cold early for better service! Also, make sure you look at receipt because they charge like a 10% service charge so head up on that! I'm not double tipping unless the service was exceptional...and it was not!

The fat crab was a go to for my friend and I for years. We decided to come after not having been for a few months and realized they may be under new management. The service was great and very quick however the food was not as good as it used to be. I don't know if it was the method of cooking it; the sauce tasted watered down and not as flavorful, food wise it was just off. Ambiance is the same, music playing, clean, but the food/flavor does not taste the same

Shrimp Crawfish Special - 2lbs crawfish, 2lbs shrimp, 3 corn, 2 potato, 2 eggs and a happy hour margarita
    Kim T.

It was my first time here and I ordered the Shrimp Crawfish Special - 2lbs crawfish, 2lbs shrimp, 3 corn, 2 potato, 2 eggs and a happy hour margarita. The crawfish were small but to be expected at the end of June. The Boom sauce is what I chose it was pretty good. I also ordered the Lemon Pepper Wings. They were juicy with a lot of breading but crispy. The service was ok. She came periodically to check on us and it was slow. They do not have brewed ice tea, so be careful when you order. I love their to go bag you're given and it was nice they gave you a new bag for your leftovers. Overall not too bad. The decor is a little confusing, many Chinese characters and such but I wouldn't call this Asian style crawfish exactly.

I wasn't too impressed the first time, and this visit certainly confirmed my initial thoughts. For La Lucha's Happy Hour, you get a choice between 2 types of oysters ($1.50 each). These were great - do this on a weekday before 6pm and you should be able to grab a table without a reservation. Barely even after we started eating the oysters, the waitress was already asking if we wanted to order more, instead of allowing us to just enjoy our food without interruptions. The menus they gave at our table were inconsistent and had different menu items. I had to ask for clarification if the redfish was on the menu since it wasn't on two of the three menus given to us. So, quality control was a miss. Rest of the menu... is limited. Everything was so greasy, from the fried chicken, the redfish, and shrimp tacos. * Red fish with pecans - 6/10. The fish did not taste like it was seasoned with salt. It was well cooked, not dry at all, but it lacked any sort of seasoning aside from the butter and pecans on top. * Shrimp Tacos - 4/10. I think I prefer Taco Bell over this one. The shell was greasy, not crisp (felt like it was stale), and I was confused with the combination of American Cheese and shrimp. They also added hot sauce or spicy salsa in the tacos - so a warning if you can't handle spice (not mentioned on the menu). * Half Fried Chicken - 5/10. The chicken was moist. Been here once before and it was quite dry, so I'm glad this was cooked well. You get 2 thighs, a wing, and a drumstick (4pc). Again, there was a lack of any seasoning on the chicken itself & the exterior. Sadly, the sauce that we picked was not the best either - oyster mayo. It would've been nice to try the others, but the half order came with one sauce. The seasonal jam that was available was the peach jam. It went well with the biscuits (half order comes with 2 biscuits, any extra is $1.50). For my people who get cold in restaurants, I would recommend bringing a light jacket since they turn the A/C up.

I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.

Our server was very attentive and we never had to ask for refills. Food: we ordered off of the lunch menu and got an appetizer to share. We started with the crab cake appetizer and this was amazing. It was full of lump crab and seasoned so well. It was $33 and only came with one crab cake but it was enough to share for 4 people. They also serve complementary French bread for the bland their whipped butter is so good on the soft bread. I ordered the stuffed crab lunch combo and it came with chicken strips, fried shrimp, a stuffed crab shell and your choice of a side. You won't be disappointed.
