Sashimi Dinner 14 pieces of deliciousness
    Wil G.

This way my first time enjoying my meal with the nicest people I've met here who helped me order amazing delicious ramen and sashimi! Thank you very much to Tatiana and Alison! Your advice was perfect! The seats were comfortable with the soft seats and the inside is very clean when I was there. Many great items to choose from. I'll be back soon! Also a shout out to the sushi chef. Really great job!

Ok, I don't know if I'm tripping or what. $8.95 for a New York roll with Shrimp, cream cheese, and avocado. This roll should be listed as cream cheese, a lil shrimp and a lil avocado. Am I the one tripping that thinking for $9 plus tax and tip that I should have at least whole shrimps and not slivered ones in my roll. And the avocado is sliced so thin it looks like a bad piece of bologna. Depending on how my salad and Rainbow roll taste, I might not be back.

    Shin ramen with tempura shrimp

I've tried most of the Japanese spots around here and had skipped this one for a while because of the reviews, but finally gave it a shot. Prices are definitely on the cheaper side, so that's a plus. That said, a couple things stood out right away, the outside of the place looked a bit rough and not the cleanest, which didn't give the best first impression. Food wise, it was just okay. I ordered the shin ramen with tempura shrimp. The broth itself was decent, but the egg kind of fell apart and had more of that egg drop soup texture, which was a little odd. The shrimp tempura also didn't seem very fresh, the batter was different than what you'd expect and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. Overall, I'd say it works if you're just looking for a quick, inexpensive fix, but I wouldn't come in expecting anything super authentic or high quality. You kind of get what you pay for here. I probably won't come here again.

This sushi spot has plenty of parking, with a small lot and street parking nearby since it's close to downtown San Leandro. Just a heads-up--you do have to pay before receiving your food. They do give you green tea and miso soup on the house, which is a nice touch. I ordered the spicy garlic edamame, which was amazing and very flavorful, and the baked roll was delicious and a standout. The food was really good overall, with big portions. The quality and portion sizes make it worth stopping by, and I'd definitely come back for the food alone. The place is small and can get crowded. The staff was okay--mediocre friendly--but the ambience was nice and welcoming.

Ordered, picked up and there were no chopsticks or about sauce in the bag. The food was good, however annoying that they couldn't be bothered to put any utensils in the bag.

A coworker said they would always come here to get sushi even though they live 45 minutes away. With that said, I had to try. We ordered take out for a mini birthday dinner. The staff on the phone were friendly. You should always have them repeat your order, especially if it's a large order. They didn't enter my order correctly and it was only the first two items I said. Pick up only took 20 minutes like promised. Well packaged and provided enough utensils. Rolls - All of us agreed that while the portions are big the rice was not good. Everything fell apart once you pick it up and there's no vinegar taste to it. Katsu Don - I liked all the ingredients they included (katsu, cabbage, onions, egg, carrots) because some include other random toppings. But the flavor was lacking. Barely any flavor. Overall, for the price it was good. I'd probably come again for other items.

I haven't been to Fat Fish in yearrssss and it's just not the same anymore. Not sure what happened, but it's no longer bang for your buck serving size and quality. Also, I'm pretty sure they were trying to close early since we were the only ones dining so we were rushing to eat and get out of there.

I've been coming here for years and always pick up. Quality has always been the same great well prepared tastes good and never disappointed. The Lion King is great as well as the deep fried California roll, regular California roll, New York roll, and avocado roll. All are my favorites. I should explore more but these are always my Go-To. Service is always good. Ambiance ok.

Quiet and friendly place with the delicious food. 100+ options to choose from. The service was excellent.

stingiest salmon on a lion king ever. I usually order my sushi at fat fish but I probably won't for a while. i could barely taste the salmon. This is the smallest amount of salmon i've ever gotten in a lion king. 0/10.

Huge menu selection. Almost overwhelming. The fish is fresh. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable. All in all i would recommend hitting up this place for your sushi fix. The ambiance is lacking. I wouldn't necessarily want to dine in though.

The base (rice/salad) was fresh and well-prepared, not an afterthought. The rice was fluffy and seasoned just enough to stand on its own, and the greens were crisp--not wilted or soggy. Everything layered together the way it should. You weren't digging through it trying to find flavor--it was in every bite. The toppings were fresh and balanced, and nothing felt excessive or thrown on just to fill space. The tzatziki sauce sealed it--cool, creamy, with a clean garlic finish that didn't overpower the dish but elevated it. Drizzled just right, not drowning the bowl.

Since this Nick the Greek is right in my neighborhood, I frequent this location quite a bit. The…read morefood itself is consistently good, but the overall experience can be a bit of a mixed bag. Let's start with the food: I ordered the protein bowl with a side of pita bread, and the bowl was absolutely delicious, fresh, and hit the spot. It's a great place to come for a cold, high-quality salad. My only minor critique food-wise is that they charge $3 for a side of pita bread, which feels a bit steep since it doesn't even come with a scoop of hummus--just a little tzatziki sauce. The main area that could use some improvement is the front-counter customer service. Most of the time, the experience is pretty lackluster. The order-taking process is very dry with no real greeting. You just place your order, get told your total, and then the iPad screen gets flipped around asking for a hefty 20% tip. It makes you wonder: if I'm walking up to a counter to order my own food, why am I tipping that much? Because I'm a generous person, I'll still leave a little something as long as the service isn't completely outrageous, but the suggested amounts definitely don't match the level of effort. To be totally fair, there is one lady who works here who is wonderful--very friendly and always strikes up a nice conversation. While I don't expect a red carpet everywhere I go, if you're working a customer-facing role, a little basic warmth goes a long way. When you're spending your hard-earned money on eating out these days, the service really matters! Will I be back? Yes, because it's convenient, the app rewards points are nice, and I genuinely like the food. But I'll definitely be spacing out my visits. With so many other places to choose from that offer the same quality of food, it won't be a regular staple for me.

Did not acknowledge special event even though the birthday was listed on the reservations which I can overlook but this would be a great way to deliver a great experience. They seem to have too many rules in place and not enough freedom for staff to make things right. We didn't want to send anything back when the dish was not up to par. But we informed them of the situation afterwards. They took the plate back and asked the head chef to taste it and they credited the remaining food that wasn't consumed. This is policy but does not accomplish anything. First, they did not inform us of the decision. Second, I would prefer they didn't credit anything if they're not crediting the entire dish since it makes it seem like they are upset we complained by only crediting what was not eaten. For this price range ~$100 per person I would assume a higher bar. It's not the outcome that matters but how the guest feels after the experience. Was money happily spent should be the question they ask. I would have preferred an apology from the head chef. When I'm spending $100 per person I get best wishes from the waitstaff and a healthy pour of champagne for celebratory drinks on the house to start off the experience. This is common practice and expected. An extra dessert only after we ordered dessert falls flat and seems meaningless. It should have been delivered before we were asked if we wanted desserts. Offering after we ordered desserts makes me feel they wouldn't have given anything if we didn't spend money on desserts already. There was a possible step to save the service delivery when they were out of ice wine - comp the port - which wasn't done either. Many blunders with the service but I would go back - not for special occasions, though. Maybe just for business lunches - less personal experiences would be acceptable. Drinks were acceptable though and I would like to try their wine list.
