Eggs Bacon Avocado Benedict. This is my new favorite brunch menu item. It's that spicy avocado verde salsa and hollandaise sauce that makes this dish so tasty. I also love their green chili sauce that costs $2.00 extra but it's so good I can't help but order it every single time. Since this location opened in 2012, we've been constant regulars, mostly on weekends. Coffee is still fresh, hot and refilled promptly. Tables are still stocked with everything you need, including napkins and extra cutlery which is sometimes a hassle to get replaced during busy peak morning hours. (Which is rather understandable, of course. So their solution to this is just brilliant, really!) Atmosphere is still warm and friendly with a happy bustling feel. Service is still exceptionally good. And I'm still having a really hard time finding better crispy hash browns than Fat Nat's! It's the standard by which I tend to judge every other brunch/breakfast joint in this city. Their hash browns are perfect every time, and I always ask for cheese on top ($1.25 extra) and it arrives deliciously melted and gooey. Went here today with my 2 daughters for breakfast. After waiting 20 mins after ordering the server came over and offered to pay for are orange juices because she never entered the order and would have are food right away. We understood a mistake was made and she owned up to it, OK. Then another 20 mins go by and she goes to the table next to us and informs them that they are eating are tables meal as another server brought it to the wrong table but she said nothing to us.... we left and all they said was OK. read more

I recently moved to the area and am so happy to have found a good breakfast/brunch spot. Good sized menu with all the brunch staples you'd expect plus some more creative items. I enjoyed the avocado bacon eggs benedict and am looking forward to trying some of the omelets in the future. Service was quick and friendly and the place was clean. Maybe the reviewer that complained about the cleanliness came on a bad day, or maybe I have low standards, but it seemed quite clean to me. One complaint is that they are rather in your face about no substitutions and moving you on when busy. I didn't feel rushed, but I came at a less busy time. I just find the warnings in the menu rather customer unfriendly, even if I do understand the practical reasons for doing so. -- Returned a second time with my mom at lunch time. The place was packed, but service was very friendly and prompt. I ordered "Jacob's Omelette" this time, which was excellent, though huge. I wish they offered smaller portion sizes, since I feel bad about half the food I order being thrown away, but seeking out smaller portion sizes is a losing battle in the United States. -- Returned a third time with a friend and enjoyed the "eggs david benedict" which was excellent. Eggs benedict are where Fat Nat's really excels. After three time here I can happily say I've found my preferred breakfast and brunch hangout. read more

Two words -Jacob's Omelette: Carnitas, black beans, salsa verde, pepper jack and topped with homemade salsa. It's amazing. I recon I will have a difficult time ordering anything else for future visits.The flavor combo is perfect, and I appreciate that they're not afraid of adding some heat to their food. I imagine you could remove the chunky salsa on top to make it less spicy, but I love it as-is. Although the menu indicates no substitutions, I was once offered a pancake instead of toast as my accompaniment - it was also delicious. The boyfriend has also been pleased with his breakfast fare, which is all we've sampled thus far. So, no complaints here. Glad this place is open and within walking distance of my home! Oh, and don't be discouraged by the fact that the cartoon of Fat Nat on the menu bears an uncanny resemblance to Ron Jeremy! read more

I really appreciate going out on a Saturday morning, not having to fight for a parking spot, and not having to wait hours to get a table for breakfast/brunch. Fat Nat's has a good size parking lot, an easy sign in system, and only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I love all kinds of breakfast food and there are plenty of diner type dishes to choose from. I had the David's omelet, corn beef hash inside an omelet, smothered in hollandaise, nothing healthy about this dish. Hash browns were crispy and delicious, coffee and pancakes were decent, waitress was super attentive, prices are reasonable for the portion size. Went here out of curiosity. I wasn't impressed... at first. But I find myself going back and even craving some of the food. Like the hashbrowns with cheese. This place is good. Went very early Sunday morning and the service was very, very good. My waitress was very receptive of the fact I didn't want to be bothered much reading the paper. Yet, they always made sure my coffee cup was full. I ordered the Fat Nats Slider and it was amazing!!! I've never seen a menu item like it. It was wonderful :) Nothing was super special about the place or menu but it was a solid, breakfest stop! It's good to see places like this around my house. Hope they continue to do well. read more

I had an appointment nearby on a weekday and was surprised to see that there was a Fat Nat's location nearby. I have been to their New Hope location once in the past and enjoyed myself there. The restaurant was clean, and the waitress was helpful immediately after opening (at 5:30am). She placed several Start Tribune newspapers on the counter, which I used for reading material. The coffee was delicious, and since I was still quite sleepy I figured I'd go for a big breakfast (the Elmer's special). The over medium eggs were perfectly cooked, and did not taste greasy at all. The bacon was excellent, perfectly cooked (not too crispy, not too chewy) with wonderful flavor. The hash browns were sadly just average (there was an up-charge), and there was not problem with the toast. However, I found out why they call this the Elmer's special! After putting butter an syrup on the two large pancakes I noticed that both were quickly absorbed into the stack like a sponge. The cakes tasted a bit on the dry side, without any outstanding flavor (it tasted like they were buckwheat based). They were also extremely heavy and settled into my stomach like glue. I finished the reset of the special but gave up with half of the pancakes left. I had absolutely no desire to get a box and have any more later. I really hate wasting food, but the pancakes gave me no incentive, I was tapped out. This would have been an outstanding breakfast if not for the pancakes, but this left me feeling too full. Perhaps I am a bit biased by preferring light and fluffy cakes, but still, the flavor wasn't there in such a key breakfast item. I would avoid the pancakes unless that is the only thing you plan on ordering. read more

Would have loved to call and discuss it with someone at the location but finding their phone number is nearly impossible. When you come in you have 3 choices for seating; the breakfast bar or the high top tables which are no wait or you can put your name in for a table. While you wait, they often will come around and smile and greet you. Then you get seated and we have not had a bad server yet. The whole team is friendly and often work as a team. We have not been to other locations, but the St Anthony Village location is our spot. Judy and Theresa helped us today and they are gems! Excellent experience and excellent food! I like Fat Nat's fine but my brother is a die hard super fan. They know him by name which I think is pretty funny. Their food has always been good and service is decent. They have a very busy crowd on Sunday mornings but if you get their early enough you will be okay. You can also wait until later since the serve breakfast all day. They have very good alternate breakfast burritos but outside of that, it's breakfast food. Prices are good for the quality and I do wish we had one closer to Eastside Saint Paul. read more

I'll start this off by saying I've been to the New Hope location a bunch of times, and while the food is comparable, the service and layout are not. Signing yourself with a crayon is very suboptimal, there was a group that got there in front of us but didn't notice the sign that said sign in here. The service was slow for a Sunday afternoon (we got there at 1), and the waitress forgot multiple times to bring the coffee creamer for my wife. The tables are really close together, and the layout is just messy. I think with a little work, this could be a good spot, just like their other locations. read more

What a wonderful place for breakfast! The menu has a great variety, from the sweet pancakes to spicy Tex-Mex egg dishes to hearty oatmeal. And bonus, the coffee is very good too. We had a cute perky waitress who was very attentive, she didn't leave us wishing for refills. The atmosphere was bright and cheery, with fun music playing throughout. The food was awesome. My husband and I heard great things about this place so we decided to try their breakfast last Saturday. They had a sign up sheet for seating. The woman before us signed her name and took a seat to wait. We followed suit, then a couple came in after us and did the same. A group of 4 of us went here after a mud run so we were a little dirty and really hungry. One of the 4 had been here before. This was on a sunday so the place was packed. We were about to go elsewhere when we found out there was a 20 minute wait, but someone coming out as we were going out encouraged us to wait, that it was worth it. I'm glad we did. The menu had so many things on it I wanted to try, so when that's the case I usually crane my neck to watch food going to other tables or just get up to go to the bathroom and sneak peeks at others plates on my way. After asking the table next to us what they had my decision was made. We placed our ordered. The wait was probably about 15 minutes. For breakfast food that seems long, but with a packed house and for the food we received it really wasn't bad. The waitress seemed worked out so our coffee refills were pretty slow, but not too big of a deal. The atmosphere here was nice, a bright open restaurant that has efficiently used the space to maximize the number of people that can dine without feeling cramped. I will say that the table next to use, two men, waited over 30 minutes for their food and had to ask the waitress (not our waitress what the problem was. She immediately went to take care of the problem, came back with their food and made some concessions for them. I'm not sure if they got a discount or free meals, but she said it would be taken care of on their bill. I thought the problem was handled exactly as it should have been, promptly and professionally.
