    St Paddy's day specials
    Aurah Gqunefere W.

Friends and I went on St Paddy's day and were so delighted by the specials they had. Service was INCREDIBLE, the drinks were strong without being overpowering, and the dill fries were absolutely delicious. My only complaint is that I wish this place was closer to my house!! I look forward to returning in the future to try their kimchi burger.

    Chocolate chip pancakes

3.5 stars My friend and her husband reserved their back room for their post wedding brunch. My friend and I split the chocolate chip pancakes and the fried chicken sandwich. The chocolate chips for the pancakes were not in the pancakes, but instead were sprinkled on top. Our server was friendly and did a good job attending to such a large group. And it was nice to be in a semi-enclosed area for more privacy.

We were recently invited to check out the wonderful @twincities400tavern in Minneapolis, where their team graciously hosted us for some delicious bites & sips from their newly launched spring menu. ‼ First win? They have a full parking lot. If you've followed me long enough, you know how rare -- and important -- that is in the city. Major points right off the bat The ambiance was a refreshing take on your typical tavern/ sports bar -- it's casual yet polished, the kind of spot you can show up in jeans with no problem or dress up a little for a date night. There's a beautiful patio area outside that'll be PERFECT once the warmer weather sticks, plus a bright, glass-enclosed type sunroom that doubles as a private event space. There was plenty of room to gather, relax and actually hear the people you're with. The space itself felt so warm & welcoming, with that signature Minnesota hospitality -- it reminded me a lot of Tavern 4&5 or Tavern on France, but larger, with a more relaxed vibe and really approachable price point. We started with the cheese curds, which were no lie the best I've ever had: light, fluffy (think ), and miraculously not greasy. From there, we shared (not really) the smash burger and braised short rib, which came with the creamiest risotto and crispy shoestring onions -- a really thoughtful, elevated twist on comfort food. To sip, I tried out the new margarita -- not too sweet, not too salty, just a really balanced and refreshing cocktail. We ended the note on a high note with a caramel apple tart, served warm and perfectly spiced. And I have to give a shoutout to our server, Leah, who made the entire experience seamless -- attentive, so kind and made sure everything came out quickly and just right. Whether it's your first visit (like me) or looking for a new local go-to, Tavern 400 delivers on all you could want and more. And, believe me, I'd tell you if it was anything less. Go give their spring menu a try while you have time!

    The Big Mar

I heard about Twin Cities 400 Tavern after attending Grill Fest at CHS last year and was blown away by the burger they were sampling. Unfortunately they didn't have that burger on the menu but we tried The Big Mar and Smokehouse BBQ burgers, both were delicious but I think The Big Mar was my favorite of the two. The onion rings-- so so so good! The restaurant had a cool feel to it, very spacious with a variety of seating. We sat at the bar and the bartender was the sweetest!! I forgot her name but she had red hair and was so friendly, made our experience that much better. We also found out they offer a free shuttle during the fair so we'll be back in August!

This spot is awesome! We went for lunch during the week so it was quieter, still busy, but not super loud! It's fun and also family friendly, which is something I always look for. Our server was friendly and efficient, and made sure we had what we needed! Food wise, things were delicious but my absolute favorite was the artichoke dip we got as an appetizer! Warm and scoopable, I loved it. So good. My mom and dad got the walleye sandwich (hefty portion of walleye!) and the rotisserie chicken salad - both loved their meals! I got the short rib and was also impressed. Flavors worked so well together! I could only eat half (thanks to all the artichoke dip I'd eaten) so brought the rest home, and my hubby also loved it! Overall, great experience. Would definitely come back for more dip and to try some of their pizzas!

Had one of the best pizza I have ever had. Pickle and bacon After that Raphael suggested a banana cake for dessert. The man was not wrong on that hit. Excellent food. Excellent service

We went here for lunch today. We ordered the pickle pizza that we had tried at the Yelp elite event we had attended earlier in the year. It was very good. I also got a Caesar side salad to go with. Then we ordered dessert. Oh boy!! We got the banana marble cake. Incredible. Warning real sweet probably want to share. We had great service would highly suggest.

Cuban with Dill Fries (front), and a Brisket Sandwich with Onion Rings (back)
    Ashley B.

Slightly elevated American bar food. Very friendly service in an attempt to upsell you on drinks. Clean atmosphere with large booths and a party room for events in the back. This is a pricier stop for bar food, but the portion sizes and quality is there. Easy lot parking. We ordered the Cuban with Dill Fries, and a Brisket Sandwich with Onion Rings. The Cuban was yummy. The bread wasn't too hard, and the sweet pickles almost taste homemade! There was a good amount of sauce, but it doesn't make my personal list for best Cubans. The dill fries were interesting because the powder that was on them is similar to a vinegar or dill pickle chip. I thoroughly enjoyed them! My partner's was a hardy brisket sandwich with onion rings, which he demolished almost immediately. I also ordered an old-fashioned and a Jack Daniels. The old-fashioned was okay. It actually didn't taste very strong, which is strange for an old-fashioned, but the Jack was mixed really well (if you catch my drift)! If you're feeling really hungry and crave a hardy meal, but want something better than dive bar food, this is a good spot to fill up!

Tavern 400 is great at constantly updating and improving their menu. This menu release is no exception I had the opportunity to try several of their new items including the artichoke and spinach fondue, center cut filet mignon, smokehouse bbq burger, and their chocolate iced marble banana cake Chatting with my server, I learned that the owner harvests their own honey for the house-made hot honey on their new fried chicken sandwich. Get to Tavern 400 now and enjoy the patio, a cold drink, and exceptional food!

I had such an amazing time tonight at Twin Cities 400 Tavern! The rotisserie chicken was literally perfectly cooked and so tender and juicy! The back room seated over 50 of us for an event - such a great large group dining space with its own private sliding door! The service was so friendly and quick. As soon as you walk in you can see the vibes are on point! You gotta check this place out !

    Rotisserie Chicken Cobb pretzel bites
    Benjamin S.

Twin Cities 400 Tavern is a go-to happy hour spot. They've got trivia on certain nights and stellar prices. The prices plus food/drink quality is the allure for me. FOOD: their appetizer bites on the happy hour menu are great (LOVE the pretzel bites). And when paired with an entree (steak dip, rotisserie chicken cobb, etc), you can't go wrong. Top it off with a glass of wine or cocktail from the happy hour menu and you're all set. I'm such a fan of this happy hour spot. AMBIANCE: very nice, upscale casual dining. PARKING: easy, there is a big lot SERVICE: always very good HAPPY HOUR: highly recommend

Big kahuna pizza and chicken paillard
    Gabi P.

Food was great! We got the big kahuna pizza, cheese curds (not pictured), tomato soup (not pictured) and chicken paillard. Not sure why the chicken paillard is an appetizer - it seems more like a meal to me but all were very good!! Service was kind as well.

Mac n cheese with bacon and rotisserie chicken
    Joshua M.

I stayed at the attached hotel and boy was I glad this tavern was here and had really good food! For lunch I had the Cuban (not pictured) but it definitely was very good. For dinner, I had the Mac n cheese. The server suggested to get it with both bacon and rotisserie chicken and that was definitely a great choice. It was very creamy, cheesy, and packed with protein! The tavern had a very local feel but nice restaurant look. The servers were all great too, very polite, fast, and feast recommendations.

Has anyone that's enrolled in the Yelp Cash Back program used it for this restaurant? It's listed as a business that is part of the Cash Back program, but once I arrived there; the Cash Back button was suddenly missing from the screen.

If you linked your card already and claimed the cash back for the restaurant it should work. I "claimed" before I went there so all I needed to do was use my linked card.

Parking can be annoying in this area (old cobblestone streets), but there is a paid lot right across the street from the entrance if you can't find street parking. Upon walking in, the bar top itself was packed with regulars at an off hour on a Friday. We sat at a small table by the pull tabs. Fun & divey atmosphere with a pool table and plenty of photo ops. Decided on Bina's Burger (smash burger) with Fries, and a side of Mozzarella Sticks. Loved the classic cup the Coke came in, and I tried both of the Old Fashioned drinks on the menu. Bina's old fashioned is okay, and will do the trick if you're purely looking for effect. The Wisconsin old fashioned is very sweet with muddled cherries and orange. The mozzarella sticks were served with a tomato soup dip which was interesting, but makes sense (grilled cheese & tomato soup). Ultimately the smash burger is the star! Very salty and crispy and delicious! I could see this becoming a regular craving! Water and condiments are on a stand to the left of the pull tabs.

Upon entry, there's no host stand or sign telling guests to seat themselves. Our group of 3 sat down at a dirty table and waited 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us or clearing it off. I finally went to the bar to ask if we had a server, and the bartender pointed to a staff member on their phone behind the bar. Our waitress eventually came over to take our drink order, but she didn't bother to clear the table or introduce herself. After bringing our drinks, she then informed us dinner service had ended 30 minutes earlier. This information would've been nice to know upfront! The Rooftop Bar is so cute, great views, and has SO much potential because the space itself is great. We came for an anniversary dinner and chose to be seated at the bar that overlooked the kitchen. I know I've said before, but I love this look into the kitchen, watching everything being cooked, seeing all the orders, it's just so fun. We started with cocktails and the Silesian dumplings. Both were excellent. Hubs got the duck two ways and I got the duck burger for our meals. I told him we couldn't go to a place that specializes in duck and not get duck. Both dishes were perfect. The duck confit sauce was delicious and the burger was out of this world. We couldn't turn down a couple of paczeks for dessert too. Service was great and sitting next to the kitchen, got to talk to some of the cooks as well. Overall, great experience at Black Duck.

The exterior is a little unassuming with the patio kind of looks like a family style restaurant but inside it's upscale dark and gold modern chic. THE FOOD Pierogis - 5/5 so pillowy Doused in a butter sauce, delicious potato goodness. A little steep for $19 for 4 pieces, but definitely a highlight of the night. Silesian pierogis - 5/5 the Parmesan leek sauce was a great compliment to the almost mochi, textured potato dumplings. Definitely different than the normal pierogies, but in my opinion, the sauce really stood out for this dish and was well balanced with the pickled cabbage. Pork dish 4/5 - the pork was cooked PERFECTLY, nice char on the outside with a juicy inside, not dry by any means. The sauerkraut plus the mustard sauce was a perfect bite. However, I do feel the mustard sauce is quite overpowering at times so if you don't like mustard do not get this. It does look like a large portion, but I did eat all of it with a little bit of help. I do wish there was some sort of starch on the plate, but better portioning the most pork chops restaurants that I have had. Flat iron steak 3/5 - I was most looking forward to this one after seeing it on Instagram however, the dish somewhat fell short for $40. The steak was cooked beautifully, and the potato pavee was exciting since this is quite rare where to find in the Twin Cities restaurant scene. There was not much sauce on this dish. The small bit of sauce provided, being quite buttery and did not add much to the flavor. The potato pavees were very crispy and a nice inside texture but for me a little bit oversalted, but there was just nowhere to go in the dish for sauce/punchy flavor. I wish there was an aioli/chimichurri to go with the potato pavee and some other type of seasoning like a Mexican seasoning on the potatoes. It's seems the entrees were not very vegetable forward however I feel like for $40 the pork and the steak could have used maybe a few pieces of brussels sprouts or asparagus to balance out their richness. Overall, a very lovely experience. I feel like anything on their menu is worth a try. The waitress mentioned that they do have rotating seasonal items. You won't be disappointed!
