I really enjoyed this place. I was starving and new to the area. Saw Fat Pig was open and made a beeline for lunch. Was lucky to have the smiling owner, Bao help me. Ordered the small chicken plate, with corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans and cornbread. I throughly enjoyed each side, rare to find a place where each item is superb. The chicken was a generous thigh and wing. Rather than a heavy hand with the bbq sauce, this chicken had a coating of sauce baked into it. It did not need the boost of any additional sauce. Cornbread was a big slice, homemade with bits of corn through out and a great soft texture. Corn on the cob was grilled and added to the corn taste. Potato salad was one of my favorites. So hard to find great kind. This had chunks of potato and a tasty dressing. So good, would come back just for this. Beans were good and smoky tasting. The owner had several customers come in, who seemed to be regulars. They ordered food and chatted with the owner. Leaving, Bao thanked me and said he hoped I would come back. We had them do catering for 100 people for our event this week and we WILL be using them again! The food was AMAZING, everything we ordered was outstanding. It takes a lot to coordinate food for 100 and from the start communication was great, all my questions were answered, the food was going to be ready earlier than my pickup time (which helped me tremendously) and was communicated early so I could adjust my timing. This is huge since my previous vendor was 30 mins late! Everyone loved the food and several people who attended WILL ALSO be using them to cater events. After leaving the Lynndale Dog Park, I asked Cody to go left of the park since I wanted to see what was in the area since I had never been. We live less than 10 min from this area, so I wanted to scope it out for potential outings. Well out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of the smoker out front and made Cody turn around so we could grab dinner from Fat Pig! Cody said he had the place bookmarked due to it's cheap BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. Once we got inside we opted to try something else though, so we will be back for the sandwich! The ambiance of the place isn't really cozy, feels more of a "take your food to go" kinda spot. You order at the counter. No one was dining in when we showed up around 6:00 pm. Small restaurant in Edmond on the way to the ferry; I went on this road many times but didnt realize. But hey thanks to Groupon. Ribs were moist and delicious. The meat easily felt off the bone and the bone itself was so soft; I could bite into it. Baked beans was fine nothing special, I ate right aways and it was not hot enough. Customer service was so friendly. They checked back if I enjoyed the food as well. There is one thing I hope they carry beef in future or sausage and mac&cheese. Just because you put spices and bbq sauce on it doesn't make it bbq. Place is rather small but decently clean. I was their first customer of the day so I cant say that the dining area is kept clean throughout the day. I was asking questions about how everything is done and it sounds like all the meat is (secretly) prepared by the owner as the ladies working the restaurant couldn't really answer my questions. Kids meal (Drumstick) with Corn Cob, Roll and Treat. The Chicken isnt breaded or Fried which is good. I wished it were more smoked. It seems to be slow cooked with the skin on and them slightly grilled before serving. I prefer a long grill so the skin is crispy. Chicken = 3 Stars Half Rack of Ribs was the nest item. It had a good smoky flavor, exactly what you expect from a BBQ spot. It looks like they finished them on the grill as the ends were slightly burned. I would order a full rack if I come again. Ribs = 4 Stars Pulled Pork plate with Coleslaw and beans. Pulled pork didnt have a smoky flavor at all. I was disappointed in the plate overall. The beans are very sweet and make sure to ask for light dressing on the coleslaw. The rolls aren't baked in house, they seem to he the Hawaiian brand you can get at the grocery store. Pulled Pork Plate = 2 Stars They have one BBQ sauce option and one hot sauce option. I didn't care for the hit sauce but was impressed with the flavor BBQ sauce. It wasn't too sweet like the beans. It isnt spicy so anyone can enjoy it. The put in on my ribs and pulled pork prior to bringing them out so it's a good thing I enjoyed it. BBQ sauce = 3.5 Stars Overall = 3 Stars. I absolutely loved this place! Everything about it was incredible. Everyone that worked there was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food itself was delicious and very fairly priced. I got the large rib plate and everything was perfect. Beans were good, ribs were tender, and the coleslaw was very tasty! Everyone else really liked the ribs as well. The sandwich is only like $5 (?!) which is NUTS. As someone who tries to ball on a budget, this was incredible. It was packed with meat and full of flavor. The ribs weren't cooked fresh but rather warmed on the grill when we ordered. I assume this is because the owner cooks earlier in the day. Nevertheless the ribs were amazing and super tender. The pulled pork sandwich was on a nice grilled bun, tender pork and a really nice slaw on top. Perfect combo and ratio and... $4? That's just CRAY! The ribs were fall off the bone and so flavorful with just a little sauce. Bao marinates them for 4 days guys! Let's end with the simply huge chunk of cornbread topped with butter and honey. I like good food, and I like nice people. This place has both! If you know restaurant prices in the Seattle metro area, then this menu will shock you. I had a small rib dinner (3 bones, PLENTY of food) for less than $10. A large one is just a little more. The owner (Bao) comes around to make sure you enjoy your food. He put on blues music so that it would have the right atmosphere. It really does make barbeque taste better when you're listening to blues! His sauce is really good. The ribs are fork tender. He told us that they don't provide napkins because their food is so good that you lick your fingers! Of course, he was joking, and he brought over the napkin dispenser.
