I really don't understand why it has a low rating. It's not the best pizza in the area, but it's definitely not bad, and they use decent ingredients. It's not my favorite in the area, but it deserves a higher rating. They offer a $10 lunch special. When they first rolled it out before COVID, that deal was $5...... inflation So, I have a new rating system......I will be write what I feel honestly about an establishment. I've passed by Fat Tomato Pizza quite a few times in Harbor City, but it was only recently that I found out that they also have a location in Hermosa Beach. Known for their authentic New York style pizza, I recently gave their Hermosa Beach location a try. I got to try two of their signature pizzas, the Hermosa Special and the Fat Tomato Works. I also tried their Buffalo Wings. The Hermosa Special had toppings of tomato, goat cheese, fresh garlic and arugula. I enjoyed the fresh arugula topping as it added quite a bit of freshness to the pizza. However, I found the goat cheese and garlic to be fairly subtle. I would have loved a little more of both to bring out the flavors and give the pizza stronger punch. The Fat Tomato Works is loaded with pepperoni, onions, green bell peppers, black olives, mushrooms, sausage and fresh garlic. It's your classic "works" pizza, packed with a variety of toppings that gives that hearty, savory bite. I thought overall the ingredients were well balanced and enjoyed the combination of flavors. The Buffalo Wild Wings had a nice kick of spicy Buffalo flavor without being overwhelmingly hot. They made for a good compliment to the pizza and added a little variety to the meal. Overall, Fat Tomato Pizza was an ok spot. The pizza is solid and the variety of toppings gives you plenty of options to choose from. While the flavors were good, nothing particularly stood out as extraordinary for me. This had been on my list to try for a while due to glowing recommendations from friends. We decided to finally try it out on New Year's Eve and we were beyond impressed! First off, our order was ready in 20 minutes! For reference it normally takes an hour or two in Los Angeles. They were quick to update us on the delivery status too. Especially on a busy holiday like NYE! Service was not only quick but super friendly as well. The food was delicious as expected. We ordered the Hawaiian... and I know some people feel very strongly against pineapple but I personally love it. Their version of it seemed to have a little extra oomph. I would definitely order it again but I'm curious to try other types of pizza here too. Either way we will be back! The slice was decent sized, not too small or big though but filled me up(wasn't that hungry). Taste wise it was above average with quality ingredients. I ate at the restaurant so I delete one star for lack of ambience, small seating area and no bathroom(it's possible they let you use the staff one in the back but I didn't bother asking). We also tried the green monster and that was a hit. Solid pepperoni for those picky kids too. The kids also liked the cheese ravioli and mozzarella sticks. It was an online order placed the night before and it was all hot and ready by the pick up time. Would come back! One funny thing I noticed is the sizing for the pizza. After finishing a project in Redondo Beach, I was heading into 7-Eleven for a quick snack when an unreal smell stopped me in my tracks. It was coming from next door--Fat Tomato Pizza. I changed course immediately, and that decision turned into one of the best food moves I've ever made. Inside, I met Fernando--super friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly proud of his work. He served me what was possibly the best slice of pizza I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked crust, rich sauce, quality toppings--everything was just on point. The shop itself is clean, well-cared for, and clearly run by people who take pride in what they do. It's rare to walk into a place and immediately feel like you're in good hands, but this was one of those times. To the owner: Give Fernando a raise or more responsibility. He's a rockstar and just turned me into a loyal customer. Bottom line: If you're in Redondo Beach, forget the chains--go to Fat Tomato Pizza. Grab a slice (or three), and say hi to Fernando. Took a chance on Fat Tomato for a late night delivery. Glad I did. Not only was delivery speedy (how did they cook such a delicious pizza that fast), but it arrived at the perfect temperate. This is a local chain (but with a location in Seattle???) and Fat Tomato is known for making most everything -- their dough, sauce and dressings. You can absolutely tell. The pizza tastes fresh and doesn't have that heavy mouthfeel during or after you eat it. Pepperoni is the way to go. And they are ample with the servings. If you love pepperoni and thinner crust, you are sure to enjoy what they are serving. This is New York style pizza, which is exactly what I love. Nice and floppy with the perfect amount of sauce and toppings. They also offer a cauliflower pizza crust, and a crust that is gluten free. I've been on a quest to find a new favorite pizza spot. Ever since Grimaldi's closed, I'm struggling to find one that's A) in my area, 2) I can hand pick toppings III) those toppings include kalamata olives and Four) those toppings aren't minced like a Cordon Bleu chef with stupendous knife skills. It's not easy. It's actually downright impossible, unless, of course, you count the homemade versions I make at home. And if you do, my homemade pizza dough is killer delish by the way. Anyway, back to searching for pizza. Fat Tomato was on my list. I ordered, I picked up, I ate it. Was it wonderful? No, it was good. It was a pizza with hand-picked toppings, but they were chopped within an inch of their life. The pie, though it was made fresh, just didn't knock my socks off. I wasn't even wearing socks, but you get what what I'm typing. I'd say FT is a good option if you need pizza stat and you've got to feed yourself, but in my opinion, it won't win any awards for what pizza is all about. Yes, they have kalamata and all the popular toppings, but I'm simply not a fan of chopped anything on my pizza, except maybe garlic - and I'd almost eat garlic whole if pressed. Tried Fat Tomato on a whim because the hubs and I like the restaurant name. We got a large pepperoni pizza, hot wings, the spaghetti, and garlic knots. The pizza is good, I enjoyed the cheese blend and the pizza sauce. Both sons happily had a couple slices. I am a BIG fan of hot wings and their hot sauce is quite good. I also appreciate that the wings are oven baked and not fried. A dip in their ranch dressing is perfection--I dream about these wings. My son had a craving for spaghetti, but preferred the pizza over the noodles. I liked the simplicity of the spaghetti and the tomato based sauce, however, I do wish that it came with more sauce. I definitely prefer my spaghetti to be swimming in sauce. The garlic knots are nice and dough-y with a touch of saltiness and just the right amount of garlic flavor. These are good alone or can be dipped in a side of marinara. I actually dipped the knots in the leftover buffalo and ranch sauce from my wings. This was truly the best decision I had made all meal long. We're definitely adding this spot to the dinner rotation. read more

Crazy thin pizza! I had to open the box to make sure there was anything in it. the Flavor is ok but $36 for a XL pizza that they roll so thin when it gets cold it hardens and you literally can snap it in half! Ordered two large (14") pizzas, which already seemed expensive at $54 (before tax, delivery fee and tip). I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately it just wasn't good. We ordered the Hermosa pizza off of door dash. 1. The pizza is supposed to have goat cheese - no goat cheese. Not sure what the cheese was. 2. The pizza was supposed to have sun dried tomatoes - no sun dried tomatoes. 3. The pizza did have the arugula - which was not fresh, it was bitter. 4. My husband called to understand if they just ran out of the items or made it wrong. After being transferred twice, with no one seemingly able to take responsibility, I urged him to hang up. We had some of their pizza at a gathering, my wife liked the white/popeye pizza, and I liked the more meat oriented pies, so we decided to try is again. Ok so the pizza is good and fresh. Wings are cooked well, just thrown in with a little buffalo sauce. Parking is a pain, you may end up parking on PCH. We visited this pizza place for the first time and it was a nice gesture that we got a discount on our order since it was our first visit. The prices were a bit pricey, but what will keep us from going back is that we saw no hand washing or gloves being used. All food was handled with bare hands and orders were taken over the phone and the same hands was used to make the pizzas without washing hands. Great service and Overall quality! I felt the GF crust I got is about the same kind they use at Dominoes for about half the cost, but the ingredients tasted better. I appreciate the customer service as they honored a discount that wasn't available anymore, and that really fueled my purchase! I have to say the regular crust maybe the better, but I enjoyed the gluten free crust, although I think the inside crust was a bit chewy, that is hard to fix because you might have to cook it differently and not just run it through the pizza oven.
