I absolutely love the burgers here! They're always cooked to perfection and really juicy. The toppings they offer are perfect and they have good onion rings and tasty shakes as well. I'm giving them four stars bc the service is a little too nonchalant for my taste. And I just don't prefer the style of frozen fries they use. I also wish they had Pepsi products instead of Coke. Obviously these are nit-picky items and don't stop me from coming to get what could be the best burger in town! read more

I ate here after going to the movies at Regal. Haven't been here in a long time. The prices are reasonable. The food isn't amazing but it was alright. The shakes seemed tasty. Yet, after eating with my family we came home and didn't feel well. It's weird but we definitely got food poisoning all 5 of us. Kept us up all night! Sucks but if I could give zero stars I would! Not sure what's going on here! I noticed the cashiers make the fries and they don't wear gloves. But not sure who is to blame most likely the cooks! Just be careful who handles your food! It was a long week. You worked hard and basically ate healthy since last weekend. You even worked out a few times. It's time to reward yourself with some greasy goodness. Enter: Shatburger. Disgusting. Unseasoned, unflavorful meat. Tasteless tomato. Cheap, crappy bun. The dining area was almost as dirty as the restroom. And $19.44 for 2 burger deals! That's 20 bucks for 2 crappy burgers, add singles of crappy American cheese singles for 90 cents each, 2 fries and 2 Cokes. (In fairness, the "fat" fries--like steak fries--were excellent.) In the first five minutes I was inside Fatburger I couldn't have written a review.. Mostly because it took that long for an employee to figure out that I was there. Maybe they were napping in the back... Or perhaps they were online donating to a worldwide humanitarian foundation. Most likely the first one! I'm also fairly certain they were NOT holding a seminar on fantastic customer service. Sooooooo, when a lone employee came sleepily from the back room I was finally able to order. I've been to one location ONCE in another county and was not impressed but was told by my experienced companion it was an "Off night". Excerpt from the dialog between me and the order taker: Me: " I'll have the King Combo without tomatoes please and with onion rings." O.T.: Did you want cheese?" Me: "It doesn't come with cheese??" (For $9.50) O.T.: "Nope! But you won't miss it." Me: "Ok, no cheese." O.T.: "Did you want skinny fries or fat steak fries." (Um, onion rings," This isn't going to go well. OH, and I'm the only one in the joint except for the odd looking guy watching a movie on his tablet in a booth in the corner. What's he watching??????? I will say one thing for the dining room. It was very clean and all the salts, sugars and straws etc. we're well stocked. The one thing I found odd was that the paper cups for the ketchup pump were face UP so they could catch sneezes, flies and misc. boogers flying around the place. (Hey, it could happen. Kids come in here) After my long wait at the counter, the unpleasant exchange with the cashier and the Kings ransom they charge I get my burger in a reasonable amount of time and wait...... I don't know why this place only has 2.5 stars. It deserves way more. After reading a few reviews, I noticed that a lot of people compare fat burger to in n out. If In n Out is so great....why don't you just eat there instead? There's one in Escondido and San Marcos so I don't know why everyone is bitching. ANYWAYS, I can't eat beef. Period. I barf and get cramps and get the runs. The alternative for me is to have a chicken burger and GASP a Turkey Burger. My mom always made Turkey Patties for me as a kid but I never found a restaurant, much less a Burger Joint selling them. Anyways, I was introduced to this place back when I lived in Escondido. Decided to try this place out despite my better judgement. Got my son a kids meal ($6.99) plus a shake ($4.99). Right off the bat, I knew that was a bad sign. I order a chili for myself ($2.99) more on this later. We find a seat and my son goes to ask if they can switch the channel to another TV. The lady says 'no' because they all will change if they change one. Dumbest thing I've ever heard! Each TV had a receiver so why wouldn't it allow to change? Liars... Next, the table we were at was filthy. I looked around and noticed one employee hanging with friends while going back and forth to 'work'. There were a total of four employees and none of them made their way to clean the table. The god awful buzzer: there's this really loud buzzer in the kitchen area that I supposed signals the end of cooking time (imagine a microwave timer but obnoxiously LOUD). I don't see how they can work in there if it's already too loud in the dining area. The TV's: they are placed practically IN the ceiling so there was some strain just to watch the damn things. Add that to the already crappy experience. The chili: Temperature was too hot. By the time it was ok enough to eat, a whole hour had passed. Plus it tasted a lot like canned chili. Low quality. I've been to Fatburger before, but it has been a long time since my last trip. After this most recent visit... I remembered why it had been so long. Their slogan is "the last great hamburger stand" and these days with "Burger Lounge", "Smashburger", "Five Guys" and so many others... well, that slogan just doesn't work anymore. I was waiting for a movie and they were conveniently located near the theater. There were many other places to eat but for some reason a burger sounded good. I had a cheeseburger and the onion rings. Service was nice and friendly. Seemed to take longer than I would have thought for a burger and onion rings but they did bring the meal to my table. For starters, the onion rings are fair at best. The batter they dip the onion in is too flakey and just falls apart when you pick up the onion ring. The burger was absolutely nothing special. Could have easily made a more flavorful burger at home. More disappointing was the bun... far too dry. I don't know why some burger places don't understand that an old dried out bun kills the burger. A fresh soft bun will make a burger. All in all, I didn't finish the burger or onion rings. My recommendation is to drive another 1/2 mile and go to "Five Guys" which has exceptional burgers. For the onion rings, almost walking distance from this Fatburger is "Tom's Famous Family Restaurant". They have okay burgers but the onion rings are the BEST! read more

I had such a great burger at the location I went to in LA the weekend before I had to come to this location close to home. What a damn let down . This place is just not good. My fries were stale and cold. The chilli I added to my cold, stale fries was luke warm and couldn't melt the cheese it covered. My burger was over cooked and hard and so not good it pissed me off. $12 and an hour of my life wasted. This is a prime spot for a burger place but even on a Friday night there was a total of 6 people in the place and I brought 2 of them. read more

Tried this place per recommendation. Someone argued it was one do the best, so we had to give it a go. Note: I can only speak for the Escondido location, so if others are amazing, let me know. I will say that there is a chance we went in a bad night, but I think a good good join is consistent. Take that for what you will. Tried the original fatburger with cheese, no onions Chicken sandwich no cheese Skinny fries Onion rings The bun was the biggest give away. It was clearly old and thus dry. The meat itself was also dry surprisingly, with little flavor. The chicken sanwhich was nothing special. I can give kudos that the grilled chicken was not dry. Bun same dry issue. The onion rings were awful. The batter/coating had cracked apart and was also very dry although the onions were cooked well. The batter for these onion rings seemed really thin. I think I tasted cornmeal which should add a good texture if done correctly, but it was not executed well. Fries were nothing to speak of. I can say that perhaps the recommendation set my expectations too high, but factoring in the price, this is not worth the investment. Would not return read more

I'm a pretty big fan of Fatburger, having to try my first one at the PB location. I was pretty excited when I found out they were having one set up in North County. I've been going to this place for the last few years since they opened. The parking of this place is plentiful as they share the private lot with starbucks and a movie theatre. The queues are pretty much non existent and the decor is just like that of any other Fatburger. On to the food. The burgers are VERY GOOD and juicy. I usually always get a Kingburger meal because the burgers are just so good. I like the fact that you can get relish in your burgers as well as fresh lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Sometimes, I even add an egg to the burger. It tops it off real well. The fries aren't bad either. You have a choice of getting regular fries or steak fries. I usually go with the steak fries and they're pretty good. Overall, it's one of the better burger fast food joints out there. Most people are fixed up on In ' N Out, which is good as well. If you haven't given Fatburger a try, I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

First off I'm just going to say if this is the way they run their business they should seek new management. The signs clearly say they open at 10:30. Yet it is almost 11:00 and there is a line outside . They still haven't opened. This is ridiculous . One employee walked right past everyone without a word and entered through another door. I drove 40 minutes out of my way to go to this place to have to wait even longer. They really need to work on service. No seasoning on any of the food. I visited this location over the weekend and it was really good. I'm so disappointed that I had to drive all the way to Escondido for a Fatburger but it was well worth it. My burger was great. I suggest asking for it to be grilled on the char! The place was clean but I decided to eat outside. Everything was cooked fresh and it was actually cheaper than the Fatburger is LA. I love the burgers here so much I decided to write a review before attempting to eat my sizzling burger. They are hot (you actually have to wait a few minutes for them to cool down) they are juicy ( even for someone like me who has to have them xtra well done-now that's a miracle!!) the tomatoes actually taste like tomato, AND THE LETTUCE IS SHREDDED NOT LEAF! This location is very clean ( even the restrooms) smells fresh AND they actually run the air conditioner (today it's 94 degrees outside and about 70 in here). The service was fast today (it has been every random time I've come) at 4pm only six tables full, no one in line ahead of me. Cashier and wait staff are always curious and friendly and clean. I also like that they don't yell to each other and carry on obnoxiously with each other. It's pretty great that you can order a burger "as is" or build your own , from the size and number of burger patty to any combination of many condiments or add-ons like a fried egg . They have dogs, turkey patty, chicken, Boca, and breakfast sandwiches. My favorite right now, of all the burger choices, is the Mushroom Swiss burger, it's advertised as a limited time option-I hope not!!- I have them add bacon (it's actually real bacon, the kind you want to sneak a piece of before it gets to the table) and I'm thrilled it isn't a sweet burger at all (so tired of sugar in everything) but mildly savory peppery(black pepper)goodness, it doesn't come with onions -which makes me happy- but you can add grilled onions. I order the onion rings extra crispy, boy are they great, not stringy tough or falling apart tough. They must use Maui onions or similar type because they are lovely and cooked to order. They are served w ranch , you can also pump your own catsup at the self serve bev. station. The shakes are yummy, not all full of air , not thin but medium thick and cold (and you can have them add more flavor if you want it) The Diet Coke is good too- can you tell I seriously love this place- it's not over carbonated but not flat either. The steak fries at Fat Burger are a tasty treat and melt in your mouth. Everything is fresh tasting and the restaurant was very clean. Eons ago, my college roommate talked obsessively about how awesome the food is at Fatburger. I was not familiar with Fatburger since I did not grow up in L.A. Since then, I have not been compelled to try them, but when I learned they served veggie burgers and then learned there was one down the street from my house, I gave it a go. Ultimately, it is the price that got me in the end on this one. The man ordered a bacon burger, onion rings and a chocolate shake. I decided to be bad and order a veggie burger with bacon, fries and a chocolate shake as well. The total cost was almost $23. I was pretty shocked when the worker told me that. But I went into the consumption experience with an open mind. Yes, everything was good. Great condiments on the burger and it was cooked evenly. I enjoyed the fries. The shake was decent. I think the man felt the same about his meal. But was it one of the best meals ever? No. Truth be told, I would've been happy with something comparable at JITB. I sure as hell would've spent less. The staff was very nice and gave us everything as requested (the man did not want pickles or onions on his burger; I wanted bacon on a veggie burger). There was some tubby who was complaining about getting lettuce on his burger when he asked for no lettuce, so take that for what it is. Fatburgers are supposed to be "Real" burgers made fresh from fresh ingredients and they're good. Definitely a quality burger, but their kind of expensive. You'll be looking at a $9-10 tab after you've got your drink and all that. The burger itself is good sized and juicy, piled with lettuce, tomato and onions. they have a whole list of add-ons (including eggs) should you want to pile it up. You can choose between some decent steak fries or more traditional thin cut (which I've never had). Fatburger is infamous for the "Triple King Challenge", a contest they hold occasionally where, for $6, customers are challenged to eat a massive 1.5lbs of burger. If you can finish you get a shirt and a certificate (mine is framed and hangs proudly in the office). Worth a visit if you're a burger connoisseur or want something more authentic than McDonald's, but the prices keep me from coming back often. read more

It's just okay. Plain atmosphere, although they have a rad jukebox that plays anything. Burgers are tasty, fries are tastier, and the shakes are good. But...it comes at a cost. Most meals run around $15-20, depending on what you order, which is not cool for a burger joint. In-n-Out is a better alternative, that and Cheeburger Cheeburger. This place is nice since it's right in the middle of the theater/Center area, but it's not a practical choice. Try the Greek cafe next door instead. read more

Baba (?) was the cook and I believe Gris may have been lead or manager. It did not. I can personally say that this was inaccurate since I had the dressing on my burger. After demanding (in a very cringeworthy fashion) Gris and Ernesto to taste the dressing, the team remade her burger with the 1000 Island dressing. The lady brought the second burger back with heightened emotion telling them they ruined the burger AGAIN and it was made with chili when there isn't supposed to. They refunded her for the burger and apologized that she felt there was added chili and SHE STILL STOOD THERE asking them why they were lying about the ingredients and kept demanding they try it and wouldn't leave them alone. I almost told the lady I would try the darn thing just so she could shut up! They really couldn't have done anything else, but she acted like they didn't even make an effort to accommodate her. From Escondido Blvd, it's easy to see this Fatburger, though once you pull in to the parking lot area of this center, it kind of disappears in the corner between several other fast food joints in this food court area across from the movie theater. Never the less, I had to try out a place I've heard about and never had. Turns out it was pretty decent. I had the Fatburger and skinny fries, and it was nice to see that after my order, the cooking area started up to cook that, rather than just toss me something that was sitting underneath a heat lamp. The burger itself was pretty good, with tons of lettuce, onions and pickled piled high on a nice juicy thin hamburger patty with melted cheese, which reminded me of Wendy's, back in the day when they knew how to make a good burger. The taste was pretty clean and hardly greasy in my opinion. The skinny fries was a quite a sizeable side order and cooked just right, being lightly crispy on the outside and otherwise hot, as they should be. The restaurant itself was okay, though both TVs were off and there was no music or anything to liven up what was a pretty quiet place. While I didn't use the bathrooms, from what I could see, the doors looked like the ones you have to put a coin in to use (ghetto!).
