This review is my first hand account, and my observations of their behavior and motives are in my opinion. Upfront., I would not recommend this moving company to anybody. The initial moving team had a foreman who became aggressive unless I met his demands to pay higher fees. He refused to use my packing materials, then stopped short of completing the job and demanded a tip before finishing (likely knowing he had already sabotaged any chance of earning one). When I refused to tip until the job was complete, the foreman instructed the other two movers to get the truck, leaving behind items that still needed to be packed. He then had the driver block the entrance to our apartment community. Our leasing manager had to come outside and coach him to move the truck before they finally returned it to its original location. They were also short on wardrobe boxes. He initially tried to upcharge me $1,200 but eventually "settled" for $600 when I removed items from the original quote. They damaged an estimated $900 worth of my furniture and belongings, including: * $250 custom-made art frame (wrapped only in plastic, no box built as quoted) * Water cooler (~$250), shipped upside down * Printer (~$190), which he carelessly threw into an oversized box with zero padding (and repeatedly said he wouldn't take) * Bissell VacMop and parts (~$200) * Two over-the-door jewelry organizers (~$120) - and ONE LOST BOX (which included height adjustment legs to our beds) I continuously had to stay on the phone with corporate just to get him to do his job. Their insurance only covers $1 per pound. Not only did my items arrive damaged, but one-third of my boxes were wet, and one box of books was completely lost. I shared all of this with corporate. They said they would refund the $600 upcharge, but then went silent and have been unresponsive to this day. Sergio, my original sales rep., has ghosted me for several months. He continually promised the refund. I emailed their team, they did not respond. I've given them since November 30, 2025. I also wanted to note that I had a $200 tip for these guys. I ended up giving that to my neighbor who helped me through this mess. I did tip the guys who delivered the furniture. They were professional. Moving is hard.... but when you find a GREAT company, you can be check it off your list. This is it, started with my call to them, spoke with Sergio and he was terrific!! He was so funny, it really put my worries at ease and that was it. After calling 10 or more companies they got my business, they also had the BEST prices. The 3-man crew showed up on time and they were excellent; they had to pack all my stuff. They did an excellent job; it took all day to pack and deliver to my new place. Wish I could give them a zero. Father and Sons came and picked my furniture up in Arizona and delivered on the last possible day in Alabama. The workers who picked up my furniture did not speak English, except for 1 whose vocabulary was limited. They damaged my door frames getting the furniture out. I had to show them how to remove the door to my fridge to get it out the front door. When they finished loading the truck they wanted a tip. I didn't give them one, but wish that I did because of all the damage that was done to my house hold goods when I received them. The 3-man crew who delivered my goods also did not speak English except for 1, with limited vocabulary. They tried to back the tractor trailer into my drive way but couldn't and left huge tire holes in my yard. They did over $4000.00 worth of damage to my furniture and house hold goods, and offered to settle for $102. Do yourself a favor and use a professional moving company that employs American worker. This company came to my shop to get repairs. Their truck came in on a tow truck and their turbo was completely out. We went ahead and replaced turbo for them and test drive vehicle and all was perfect. We performed Regen and got truck to operating temp. Truck was checked and work completed as we do with any truck. We turned this truck in to customer and he drove truck off the lot in perfect working condition no issues no leaks no check engines. To top it off I even replaced a 300$ sensor and installed new 200$ air filter for FREE because I was so grateful as a first time customer at my shop I love to take care of my customers. Unfortunately the next day his truck was broken down on freeway. He reached out and let me know what was going on. And As a professional service provider I told him to not worry I would go out and see what's going on (thinking it was related to turbo job we just completed). But it was not. No I tried to patch it up and I tried to fix the truck on the road EVEN THOUGH THE DAMAGE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH TURBO NOT EVEN CLOSE. And unfortunately the patch didn't work. They got the truck towed back to shop and we diagnosed issue. Turns out that his EGR cooler internally cracked on the road . Causing steam to enter engine and overheated engine. Now father and sons moving company out of frustration left a 1 star review on our business after a professional conversation was had on the matter. As a business we understand what reviews mean to us. And I believe character is a huge part of a business. I tried to give him an honest quote for a new head with a new egr plus cleaning of charge air cooler and I was even going to remove his dpf and doc filters and bake them for free to help with cost (over 1000$ value). I cannot be liable for unfortunate events and inconveniences and when someone leaves a 1 star review out of frustration it doesn't sit well with me and it shows that the people running this business have a flaw in their character and if I'm doing business with someone I would judge them on their character and how they treat their customers. I went above and beyond for this company just for them to leave a 1 star review. Not ok and it's a lack of respect in my opinion. I hired Father & Sons moving for a short haul move and i was incredibly impressed and happy with the fast and efficient service. Not only did they help me move all of my things over, they rebuilt my bed frames and sectional couch all within 3 hours. We are deeply disappointed in the poor quality of service and customer support we received during our move from California to Texas. From the very beginning of the job we had issues: * The Father & Sons representative that came to our home on 9/6/24 (Daniel) was COMPLETELY unprofessional and disorganized, blaming Colonial for the problems. Towards the end of the day he began threatening to double or triple our final weight at the truck scales if we didn't Venmo him a tip!! * We were told that our belongings were going to be picked-up and transported on an 18-wheeler, but a small U-Haul truck arrived instead. * We were never informed that our belongings were going to be unloaded and reloaded onto different vehicles multiple times during transit, or that our belongings would be left in a storage locker for over a week. * We were told 3 different times that our belongings were being delivered on a specific date, took days off work, and guaranteed that the delivery would arrive no later than 9/20/24. We were told there would be 3 people unloading the truck and reassembling our furniture but only 2 men did the work, which seriously slowed down the process, and we ended up doing a lot of the work ourselves because the driver slept in the truck the entire time and left as soon as the items were finished being unloaded. * The movers did not have the keys to the lock on the back of the truck and we had to give them a crowbar to open the doors. * There was no consistent communication between Colonial, Father& Sons, and us. It was obvious that Colonial was not aware of the location or schedule of Father & Sons vehicle. Colonial customer service called us multiple times asking if the delivery had occurred yet. * We were told multiple times that the truck was in a different location than it actually was despite having our GPS tracker in the shipment. We have multiple screenshots showing the trucks route. * The truck was not stored in secure areas during the shipping process. At one point it was parked for over 12-hours in a Home Depot parking lot while Father & Dons dispatch repeatedly told us it was "on the way." * We were FORCED to sign a revised contract and pay for the move before anything was unloaded from the truck despite our belongings obviously being damaged. * Ultimately the truck arrived at 4:30pm and the movers did not leave our home until after 2:30am on 9/22/24 and our belongings were damaged and left unassembled. When the van was opened our belongings were obviously damaged and thrown around the interior by being moved multiple times. * All the furniture that was picked-up our 8' x 10' storage unit was not wrapped by the movers, despite the fact they assured us everything would be: o Vintage dining table legs are broken o Brand new baby crib is damaged (not wrapped by movers) o Packing boxes broken open o Leather La-Z-Boy recliner damaged (not wrapped by movers) o Nightstand doors broken o Broken laundry hamper o Broken lamps o Damaged chaise lounge cushion (not wrapped by movers) o Wooden headboard damaged o Damaged side table o Wooden dresser drawers damaged o Black entertainment center damaged o Shattered picture frames and broken glass o Ripped baby changing mat (not wrapped by movers) o Custom wood coffee table damaged (not wrapped by movers) o We have not unpacked ALL boxes to see if additional items are broken We have called repeatedly during this ordeal and tried to be as patient and respectful as possible but no one has taken any action to resolve this situation. No one has offered any form of compensation despite consistently documenting these problems. At this point we filed complaints with the BBB and Capital One. read more

I have been burned by movers in the past with extra fees, tagged on at the very end of the move right before settling up, so I was wary at first. I spoke with Adam and continued communication with him right up until moving day. He was reliable, and he confirmed twice before the move. He was also very courteous and reassuring that the move would go smoothly even though I told him I had a LOT of stuff. On the day of the move, the three guys I had hired were running late, so I got worried. I was quickly reassured I would not have anything to fear when these three young men arrived. Duman, Vitali, and Didar were absolutely WONDERFUL. They were so incredibly careful with all of my furniture and boxes, were courteous, polite, and just all very sweet. They took special care in avoiding brushing, or banging up against walls, corners, etc., and we're finished in record time. Especially for the amount of stuff I had. Our move from San Antonio, TX, to Laveen, AZ--booked through Colonial Van Lines but executed by its subcontractor Father & Son Movers--has been marred by broken promises and silence. Father & Son collected our goods on 26 June and assured delivery on 28 June; instead, the shipment never left Texas, and each "revised" window (4-5 July, then 9-10 July, now 14-15 July) has slipped without notice. As of today, 11 July, we still have no belongings, no accountability, and virtually no direct communication from the carrier OR Father & Sons--only sporadic updates from Colonial's representative, Traveen, whose efforts are the sole bright spot. I will note that at each time we've heard from Traveen, we were told that "The driver is on the road now" but today, July 11, about 20 minutes ago, we were informed that our household goods are still sitting somewhere in Texas. So clearly, Colonial and/or Father & Sons are lying, inept, and/or both. This two-week ordeal of misinformation and delay is unacceptable. We urge Colonial to reevaluate its partnership with Father & Son Movers so future customers are not subjected to similar treatment. IF our belongings actually arrive, we'll provide an additional update but at this point, we are searching for legal representation as we aren't even sure if Father & Sons even has our belongings in their possession. read more

I am writing this to express my disappointment with this company. My two movers were great guys and handled everything great, my ikea coffee table broke in the move a little but i was honestly ok with that given the nature of particle board. What I am disappointed with really started when we had gotten to my new place. I arrived to my new place in oc over 30 minutes before them. I understand traffic but we left at the same time. After arriving, instead of taking a load up to the apartment and allowing me to guide them, they insisted on seeing it first (while they were on the clock). After seeing how long the walk was they informed me that there would be a an additional charge of $150. I was confused because in the initial message that the owner sent me it is clearly stated that there are no additional charges for anything and that everything is included. After asking them about this, the office guy called me while I wasn't at the phone and so I called him back and he never answered. After this I noticed the movers being slower and taking their time unloading my stuff unlike before. When I asked them what's going on about the charge he said that he can give me a "discount" and make an exception to the long walk charge if I leave two five star reviews. I think his boss told him to go slower and demand the reviews and I don't hold the employees personally responsible, just the company. I was then given my total based on the cash rate because he had informed me that zelle was accepted at the rate of cash that day when I asked. I paid and then they left. 20 mins later he texts me saying that I need to send extra money because zelle is card rate. I didn't want anymore trouble and just wanted to get my stuff unpacked so I did so. FYI this company also operates under VIP Pro Moving which is where they also made me put a review. read more

This was our first experience using movers and it was definitely not what i thought it would be. My husband and I both imagined they would throwing our things in a box and tossing it around in a truck to pack it up but it was the total opposite! Our moving helpers were Sam & Erik and they were the best! They were on time in the morning for starters, they came in and assessed real quick how they'd start moving things and they got to work. They were quick but super gentle with all of our things. Friendly staff but the movers moved really slowly. I was charged for the minimum 3 hours but then also 30 minutes more which seemed unfair. I'll explain below. The movers showed up within the agreed upon time and so the clock started when they arrived. The night before I had everything in the garage and on the first floor of the house so that it would help speed up the process and so that I wouldn't have to reclean all the floors/carpets in the house from having people walking through the place. There were no boxes and it was only the heavier items that I couldn't transport in a regular vehicle. After it was all moved into the truck, it was a little over half full for a 2 bedroom townhouse worth. As soon as the movers arrived, they asked to use the bathroom. Sure I get it, we're all human that's fine. But someone must have not been feeling well b/c they kept using it. Ok no problem. A number of times as I was getting stuff done around the house and waiting for things to get moved, I noticed as I was moving items into my car, they were not moving items into the truck. Standing around, using the bathroom, texting on the phone and talking on the phone. At one point during the beginning of the move, one of the movers asked me if they should use moving blankets and on which items they should use the blankets. I sort of expected them to be the experts in this area and wasn't aware that it was my responsibility to tell them which items needed to be covered/wrapped up. I replied politely that I just want all my items moved to my new house undamaged. A few times when moving some of the heavier items like the bbq and the exercise bike, I heard them banging into some of the walls of the entryway out the front door. There was some cosmetic marks on both items, but they were not destroyed. Once everything was moved I gave very specific instructions that my fiance would be at the new house and they could just knock on the door and then they could start moving items into the house. Once the movers left, I had a few things to take care of like getting the dog ready to go and cleaning up after the moving crew left. I spent about 10-15 minutes doing this and then I got a call from the movers saying that they were there waiting for me to show up. Once again I politely gave them them the instructions to knock on the door and then she would let them start moving items into the new house. They said ok and then I got on the road. 15 minutes is the normal commute time to the house. When I arrived, I noticed that nothing was happening. I went into the house and asked her if they knocked on the door and she said no. I walk outside and both of the movers are sitting in the truck. Because of all the lost time mentioned above and the damage to a few of my items, I ultimately decided not to have them move too much items into the house. If I had let them move everything into the house, it probably would have taken an additional 2-3 hours to do so. With the amount of time lost when loading up the truck and waiting around after they had arrived at the new location... it was pretty frustrating to be charged an additional 30 minutes of time. For better or worse, I have moved a handful of times in my life and this is by far the worst experience I have had so far. Moving can be a lot to deal with all within itself, but to have to deal with the stresses of having damaged items and being overcharged unfairly for a moving service just seems wrong. I think next time i'll just move myself or find a professional moving company. I was recommended this moving company by a friend of a friend. My experience was far different from theirs maybe. But in any case, I can't recommend this company to anyone I know planning to move. read more
