5 stars what??? Came looking for the Asada Fries. They did not disappoint. If they were by themselves, they may have been a touch overdone. Well played. Even with the sauces etc. They kept a little crispness and did not get soggy. I asked for their spicy sauce and it was perfect for it. Just enough heat. The portion was big as well. The meat was cooked perfect. Overall, it is very worth it. The service was awesome. He was attentive, but not all in your face. Then at the end, you get a little chocolate piece for the road. Nice job. And they had the baseball playoffs on. I will be back for sure. read more

Such an interesting menu. Until I got here I couldn't figure out how the Lebanese/Mexican/American fusion menu would work but it was a delicious combination. I asked how they came up with the idea and it's really meant to bind together the community and the diversity we see in this area. I love it! We ordered the beef gyro wrap and the garlic shrimp fries (tough decision on the fries because they had so many combinations) and both had so much flavor (a bit spicy with the fries but the coleslaw evens that spice out a bit). Very filling (all those carbs!) so a little goes a long way. If you're not sure what's what, Shawarma vs Asada for example, they've got pictures of each dish on the walls. Very tasty and looking forward to my next visit! read more

I have mixed comments about this joint. Too small to go with friends. The place has only 3-4 tables... so be ready to stand. Food taste vise is good; especially the brisket; however I ordered the philly cheese steak sub... less meat more fat sums it up. I hate chewing on fat especially when it is labeled a steak sandwich. My son ordered the 3 meat quesadilla and same issue... rubbery fat that you have to constantly spit out!!! The nacho brisket is really good though. Overall, Ali needs to up the game on his steak items and get a bigger place. read more

Been craving Mediterranean food for awhile and I'm so happy to have found this GEM... OMG there Chicken Kabob was 100% delicious, from the light fluffy rice to the perfectly grilled chicken, paired with a tasty side salad and don't forget the warm soft pita bread and hummus. Everything was literally made from love. The portion size was huge but I'm not complaining because I get to enjoy it tomorrow, a plus for me. The staff/service was outstanding, super nice people. I really really enjoyed my dish. Their garlic and house hot sauce was freaking awesomeness. They gave me extra to go, no charge.. they are super nice. I will recommend and definitely be stopping by soon. read more

Over hyped. Dumb wait. Owner is pretty full of himself. Never lets me order what I want, always down sizes what I ask for. I once went in asking for large shrimp fries and he looks at me says "I won't finish it" so he charges & gives me a small even though I wanted a large. Second time I wanted the Astro cheetos says "they're to expensive here" and charges me just for my food and doesn't charge or give me the chips. Like if I couldn't afford it or something. I haven't eaten a lot of Arabic food before. My son's friends have him eat a lot of it and he loves it. So I thought to try this place out cause the name and then I saw the menu and recognized a lot of the items and loved how they put Mexican/American dishes together with Lebanese dishes. I have to say I was floored! It was some of the most delicious food I've had. The birria cheese tacos were amazing! Especially with the dip. I wasn't real familiar with falafel but those things were great. The rice, chicken, all of it was fabulous. Found myself going 3 times in a row! I had folks over one day, decided to order a bunch. Then I had a bday party lunch and I suggested Fatima's. Then one day I was just at home and brought some home. They probably got tired me asking what else was good cause I was trying it all! As long as I've lived in Downey I haven't experienced anything quiet like it here; glad they opened up shop here. So far, nothing has disappointed and has been excellent. read more

I've been coming so much since the first time I was introduced to it. It was so good that I even got a lot of my friends to come with me multiple times over. This place has the best food if you're looking for flavor. Definitely recommend the Carne Asada fries with the hot Cheetos and cheese sauce, the hot Cheetos carne asada burrito, and pretty much their whole menu is bomb. We also purchased a cup of *Champurado* to go, after sampling it - and it's truly exceptional. My gorditas featured a delicious mushroom "meat" and soy chorizo. The chorizo had a delightful kick - a pleasant spice, not overpowering. The mushroom "meat" was fantastic! The guacamole was perfect, and I appreciated the NO tomatoes. I didn't try the nachos, but my friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy the diverse ingredients. We had a wonderful time and I'll definitely be returning. I highly recommend the *Champurrado*, the gorditas (especially the mushroom one!), and the guacamole. The soy chorizo was also excellent.

I was really excited to check out this Mexican-Mediterranean fusion spot, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The concept sounded amazing--who wouldn't want to try shawarma tacos or chile relleno with a twist? Sadly, the execution didn't quite match the hype. First, the vibe: The decor is a mix of hip hop and Kobe Bryant tributes, which is super cool, but it's completely overshadowed by random Halloween decorations, like a Chuckie doll, that make the place feel more like a Spencer's adult store than a restaurant. It's a lot to take in, especially in such a small, cramped space where finding seating is already a challenge. Speaking of space, the wait times were rough. Even with no one ahead of me, it took 25 minutes to get my food. If there's a line? You're looking at closer to an hour. Oh, and heads up--there are no bathrooms for customers, which is pretty inconvenient for a place that can get so packed. Now, for the food: I loved the creativity of the menu--tacos with Cheetos, shawarma with Mexican flavors--but the quality was hit-or-miss. The chile relleno taco was loaded with flavor, but the beef shawarma was tough and overly gamy. Not what I was hoping for at all. I like Lebanese quisine and I am a regular customer at Fatima Halal Meat Market, on Florence Avenue in Bell, CA. But that is not the reason I am giving a 5 star review here. Fatima's Grill is like an extension to their Meat Market. I have tried almost every Arab/Lebanese eatery in Orange County and Mr. Ali and his food beats them all. And here's why...Mr. Ali and his staff are very caring and attending to my needs and wants. I sometimes even tell them how I want my food made and they oblige. For the price I pay for the food, this is a quality that I value. Expect the same treatment for yourself also. The quality of the food is home cooked and nothing beats that. The sauces they use, you cannot find them any where else in Southern California. Their spices are not one fits all dishes, like you find in most restaurants today. Their salads, hummus and tabbouleh are all homemade. This gives their food a distinct Lebanese authenticity that I have not found anywhere else, yet.They are small now, but I am hoping for them to grow in the future. But the thing I like the most about these guys is that I can call in advance and have specialized Lebanese foods made for me. For example, grilled chicken, makluba, kibbeh and bulgur. Decided to see what all the hype was about this place. I stood in line for about 45 minutes then I ordered my food. After about 30 minutes my food came. Had their Carne asada burrito. Meat was hard. Taste like they save the left overs from the night before. I asked the owner if I can order something else because the burrito just did not taste right. The guy rolls his eyes and started to argue with me and said "it's an acquired taste you will get use to it." I was a bit surprised he was trying convince me to eat something I clearly did not like. As I was looking thru the menu to order something else this guy started arguing with another gentleman. I think he was a customer from the business next door because Fatimas was really packed and they were probably taking up space from the other business. Looks like this guy has a lot on his plate. Maybe since his business is so popular he should move it to the Promenade where there is clearly more space to handle his clientele. Any ways I guess that gentleman must of upset him so much he forgot about me. To much drama at Fatimas forget this place, it's only a burrito. He clearly has no approach on how to handle complaints and has no respect for his business neighbors.I just left and went to Tacos Gavilan. I gave 2 stars for the effort. read more

I come all the way from Pasadena because nothing compares to the flavor, energy, and experience here. Every dish is authentic with an incredible twist of cuisines that somehow works perfectly every single time. The food is bold, fresh, creative, and unforgettable. And Liza is truly the heart of this place. Her positive energy lights up the entire restaurant. She treats everyone like family and you can genuinely feel the love she puts into everything.
