I actually came across Fatima's Grill on Instagram, so of course I looked them up on Yelp. They offer Mediterranean and Mexican food, everything from heavy-duty burritos and quesadillas, to kabob platters and wraps, to burgers and fries. ONLINE orders only at this time. The restaurant link is on their Yelp page. Their is also an "Order Now" feature on the Yelp page, which allows direct ordering powered by Grubhub. FIRST VISIT: I spent an inordinate amount of time scrolling through the pictures and trying to decide what all I wanted. There were just so many options to choose from! I finally landed on a chicken crunch wrap and chicken shawarma wrap, as well as one of their cheesecake pops (~2-3 meals). The chicken crunch wrap was my favorite that first visit, but the chicken shawarma wrap was also flavorful and pretty superb, especially with the garlic sauce they provided. The cheesecake pop I could have done without. The cheesecake pop was basically a slice of standard cheesecake coated in a hard white chocolate shell overlaid by circus animal cookies and crumble. Great in theory but in practice not so much, or at least it didn't suit my tastes- I guess I prefer the normal cheesecake texture and just don't like hard coatings with my cheesecake. SECOND VISIT: I ordered the same items (except the cheesecake) since it was so good the first time around. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite as impressed the second time around as the crunch wrap fell apart as soon as I tried to pick it up- it felt like the tortilla wasn't grilled to become sturdy enough to carry everything, or maybe there was just too much sour cream, etc. so it was soggier than the first time I ate it. Still really good though, even as it made a huge mess. The flavors of the chicken shawarma wrap were also on point, just as before, but this time the chicken was a little burnt/ too hard - Still good but not as great as the first time around, again, for obvious reasons. Note: I had ordered during their busy lunch rush my second visit, so maybe that was the cause. COVID Measures: Store setup itself is small with a table right in front that really only allows enough space for one customer at a time to safely enter, though they say up to two can. I actually didn't appreciate how the second time I went and was waiting in line to pickup, some guys just walked right up next to me and asked the employee for his pickup order - So basically that customer was not practicing safe social distancing AND cutting in line (not the store's fault). Given the tight space of the store, I actually don't know what they could do to make it more covid-safe, but I definitely felt uncomfortable my second visit (during their lunch rush). Which I guess just means the next time I'm craving their food I'll try to stop by early, like before 11:30 am or after the typical lunch hours. read more

Got the Hot cheeto burger combo & the Philly sub combo, washed it down with a cold can if Dr pepper. The hot Cheeto Burger was pretty good, the meat was nice and soft and it was very cheesy with good flavors. The Philly Cheese sub was good too but the fries were super Bland (wish they added more salt). Their sauce that they make and sell in the bottle is really delicious (Dipped my fries in them). For my birthday this year, instead of being able to have a sit down dinner, with strict covid-19 shutdowns, I decided I finally wanted to give Fatima's a try. I have been following them on Instagram and their posts had me craving them for a couple of months now. I am surprised at how great everything was considering I had high expectations after following them on IG. I listened to prior posts and ordered online while driving there. Our guaranteed time was 710pm, so now I know that they don't start on your order until close to your time so no need to go early. Parking is pretty crowded and there are many people lined up to grab their food. Inside they allow only two customers in at a time, ordering and picking up. I am a huge hot cheetos fan but wanted to try their original stuff my first time and then next time dig into something special. Not going to lie, what we experienced was definitely something special. The customer service, the food, the food, the food. Wow! I had the philly with beef and my husband ordered the 3 meat platter without rice. The food came out perfect temperature and we ate in the car. There was an abundance of meat in my philly and it was oozing with cheese. Just the way it should be. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I loved every single bite of it. My husband liked the gyro and chicken from his dish. He said he could have passed on the kafta kabob. But again he said it was infused with flavor and the plate was huge. He kept commenting on how much food he received. I wanted to try their hot sauce, so the owner asked if this was my first time there. I replied yes and he goes take one on the house. Jazak Allah!!! I have not tried it yet, but what great customer service. We will most definitely will be back to try some infusion dishes. This another small place with huge flavor and great prices. We had tacos which came warm, fresh, meaty, with melting cheese. There was a small container of gravy to dip but I drank that as I was dipping my taco in the hot sauce. They served corn tortillas which has a great texture of its own. Some radishes on the side were perfect. The food was filling but not heavy. "I ended up at Fatima's Grill" quit literally. I had been wanting to visit this place since I found out they had a location in Montebello. I just never got around to go. I went ahead and decided to give the location a call before hand, just to be sure it was up and running. (The phone was answered very quickly.) I let the man who answered know why I was giving them a call. The man on the phone was very kind. Before we hung up the call he said, "drive safe." Personally, it's the little things. You never know what someone is going thru, and that little kind moment can mean so much to someone. Fast forward to arriving to the location. I step up to the register to order, the man at the register says, "you coming from Montebello right?" I'm not even gonna lie I was like what the heck, yes. Lol he's like I saved you guys a table. Mind you the location isn't HUGE, it had maybe like 6/7 tables max. And when we got there it wasn't empty. So right off the back I was like this is AMAZING service. Because yeah, Montebello isnt too far from Downey, but still. I had to drive. lol Back to ordering, I placed my order and he allowed me to pay afterwards. Told me to make myself at home. Which again I love. I wasn't sure if it was a pay up front type of place. The food came out quickly! The presentation of the food was awesome. (Gotta be able to take an IG picture or it didn't happen) the FLAVOR OF THESE DISHES ARE AMAZING!!! They have signature salsa (and yes those were amazing as well) but honestly their food was so flavorful you didn't need to add anything. (But I did) haha while I was eating I noticed the man sweeping, interacting with guest, honestly it looked like he knew everyone who walked in. Just to end this very long review. The service was TOP TEIR but what makes the service outta this world, was that the man serving/taking orders/cleaning/engaging with the guest was THE OWENER! I don't know how you guys feel when you see the owner putting in work out there but I LOVE IT! It just shows how much they love what they do! They're not afraid to be out there working with people. I've worked customer service my whole life. Retail, fast food, hospitality, beauty. I've done it all! And the one thing I always noticed was the uppers always "claimed" to stay grounded and humble but never did I ever see them out there working like where they came from. I visited this place last night and I ordered through the kiosk on the kiosk It didn't give us the option to edit the food items so as soon as I was done, placing the order and not even a minute after I submitted the order I had walked up to one of the cashiers and asked her what was on the burrito and asked her to remove some of those items, this was not even a minute after the order was sent She came out and said that the burrito was already made that they could not change it I told her that I would not eat it the way that it came because I had things that I do not eat she said she was gonna go get Her manager came out and told me with attitude that they're gonna have to throw away the other burrito that they made. This was extremely unprofessional if she truly was a manager the customer service is horrible this is the third time we've gone it's always truly horrific the attitude. The cashier is horrible. She's like almost not even awake and the manager the disgusting attitude I could hear her yelling in the back as I'm talking to the cashier about the burrito. The food is good. It was by chance that we stumbled across this small, mom and pop restaurant and we ended up loving everything about this place. The hostess was friendly and helpful and the chef was a sweetheart. She came out from the kitchen to personally give us reccomendations as we were indecisively going through the food options. "We just want to let you know that we have a wait time of 45 minutes" said an exhausted waiter as we thumbed through the large touch screen replacing what is supposed to be the front cashier for orders. "That's okay, we drove from West LA, we can wait" I responded. The lady gave me a look as if I hadn't read the room. Only one family had food on their table, folks were tapping their feet anxiously waiting for their orders. Turning my head to the door I entered from, I realized the swaths of people hanging around the parking lot were also customers waiting for orders. I realized I shared the same oversight as management did in under-appreciating standard dinner rush hours. As a restaurant in the halal-meat space you are held to a higher standard because you not only represent a dining experience but also the Muslim Ummah. You could learn a thing or two from Tacos Gavilan down the street, with dozens of employees at the front counter ready to serve hungry customers. One could argue Fatima's is a small business but you shouldn't have more than one location if you can't handle the weight of one. Quality over quantity any day. Btw, you're not a boba shop. Your menu is super dense. Maybe an iPad shouldn't replace a human for one of the most critical parts of the assembly line. Disappointed would be an understatement.
