My husband ordered the cavatappi dish and he commented that it was delicious and ate it all - so it must have been - as he didn't share with me! My son had a special order of plain pasta with olive oil and a grilled chicken. Cooked to perfection. I believe that this will be one of our regular dining places in Half Moon Bay. Prices are reasonable, portions are generous and service personnel are all very friendly. Restaurant is nice and cozy. Love the patio area too.

Unfortunately, our last two pizzas (we order about once every two weeks) have been simply awful. We thought maybe the first one was a fluke, but the second one was the just same. Verrazzano have definitely changed to cheaper ingredients, so cheap that we didn't even feel like finishing the pies. We always order the same combo, so the change was quite pronounced. The crust was sad, the cheese was different and tasted weird, the olives tasted like they were the cheapest tinned brand possible. Half the onions were raw. Such a comedown, and not worth the money now.

Yelp said they open at 11am so I had no reason to think that would be an issue. The young woman at the register, whose name I did not get, seemed to be somewhat in charge as she was asking other employees to do certain things. I ordered when she was ready and went out to the patio table areas where the kids play area is. My wife asked me to ask them if there was a pooper scooper because there were a couple piles of dog poop on the play area grass. I went back to the register and just let them know there was dog poop out by the tables on the grass. She said she knew and would have someone clean it up soon. I said thanks. As I walked out of the restaurant and past the outdoor pick up window I hear her say to the other workers "you know what I hate is when people get here before we open and start asking me to clean stuff up." First, I wasn't early. You were open. Second, it's a health issue and I felt I was very nice in how I kindly let you know there was an issue that you would probably want to address. So I return to the tables and start to realize how unkept and dirt the whole place really is. Please see the attached photos. Where I probably wouldn't have left a review or photos before, the rude and incorrect comment about me letting them know there was dog poop where kids play before they eat made me decide this deserved a review. Please see the attached photos. The cashier/manager? at the very least deserves significant retraining. Maybe a list needs to be made of specific tasks a staff member is responsible for every day before opening and that staff member would initial that they completed the tasks. You know... 1) check for and clean up all dog poop on site. 2) wipe down all tables and benches. 3) clean up all trash, including all little bits of food, napkins, pens, etc off the ground. 4) check all napkin dispensers that they are full and tops are on and they are in the same place on all tables. The poop photo is the last one listed. I couldn't seem to get it first in the list. I didn't take photos of everything (more poop and trash) because I hadn't yet decided I would write a review. But here it is.

I visited this restaurant on Friday, April 11, in the evening, and unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the hostess's unprofessional and uncomfortable behavior. Upon entering, her demeanor felt cold and unwelcoming. She led my friend and me to a smaller table toward the back of the restaurant, despite many other open tables and booths being available. Once seated, she repeatedly stared at us in a rude and unsettling manner. At one point, I believe her teenage children came into the restaurant and also began staring at our table, mirroring her behavior. It didn't stop there. The hostess would occasionally leave her podium and come closer to our table, making her glares even more evident. She did not treat other guests this way, which made the situation feel targeted and deeply uncomfortable. Later, when I requested my pasta to be packed in a to-go box, the hostess approached another server nearby, smirking and making what seemed like disparaging remarks while looking directly at me. Her actions and demeanor throughout the evening made it clear we were definitely being racially targeted, which was both disappointing and unacceptable. Although the food and our actual server were excellent, the hostess's behavior completely ruined the experience. I will not be returning to this restaurant if I'm ever in the Half Moon Bay area again. Her actions were entirely unprofessional and should be addressed by management to ensure no other guests endure this treatment. read more

What an unforgettable dining experience! Tonight's 4-course meal was nothing short of perfection, and the thoughtful wine pairings elevated each dish to a new level. Antipasto - The pan-seared scallops with kabocha squash, pancetta, and local greens were a perfect start. The Vino Verde pairing created sparks of lemony brightness against the scallops while letting the squash bring a calm, earthy balance. Primo - Tortelloni with wild mushrooms, asparagus, and brown butter. Although I'm not a fan of mushrooms, the chef was kind enough to adjust my dish--and it was still incredible. The Barbera from Mendocino tied everything together beautifully, and I could still taste the grounding richness this course was designed to deliver. Secondo - The lamb chop scottadito was the absolute highlight. Hands down, the best lamb I've ever had--tender, juicy, with a perfectly crisp seared top. The polenta cake absorbed the mint chimichurri in the most savory way. The Malbec pairing deepened each bite with richness and warmth. Dolci - Coconut panna cotta with caramel and local peaches. As a Latina, flan is something I know well, but this creative twist with peaches was extraordinary. The Port-style Zinfandel pairing brought out every note of sweetness without being overpowering. The highlight of our meal was the Bucatini a la Pepe, prepared and served right in a cheese wheel by the talented chef Pablo. Watching the pasta being swirled around in the cheese wheel was a treat in itself, and the result was a dish that was incredibly delicious and wonderfully cheesy. Our server, Michael, was exceptional. He was friendly, professional, and ensured that all our food arrived promptly. His excellent service truly enhanced our dining experience. We also enjoyed the garlic bread and beet tartare, both of which were super delicious. Additionally, we ordered a mango margarita, which was absolutely heavenly. The ambience of the restaurant added to the charm of our visit. It's a quaint and cute place with a cozy fireplace and even some private dining rooms. I am very disappointed in this dining experience. After ordering the Linguine Al Limone, it tasted of the overpowering heat from the chili peppers and lemon, taking over the flavor of the seafood. The Short Rib Pappardelle lacked an expected depth from a braised short rib sauce, leaving me unsatisfied. They claim their pastas are "homemade fresh everyday", but it is painfully obvious they were not. The only dish stopping me from reviewing this as 1 star is their Beet and Buratta salad. We had such a great dining experience here tonight. After spending the day at Bean Hallow Beach…read morewith the family and dog, we wanted something satisfying to eat before driving back over the hill. We normally get Barbara's but tonight we decided to try Sam's Chowder House. We were pleasantly surprised that they didn't just serve chowder. We tried the shrimp scampi with linguini, the fried seafood sampler with fish, shrimp, calamari, crab cake and fries. (Fish and shrimp were the main star!) We also tried the meatball appetizer, shared a large bowl of clam chowder (great deal because it was practically 5 small cup sizes) and spicy roasted garlic shrimp with linguini. For dessert we had the chocolate swirl cheesecake and that was delicious. The restaurant is right at the water with lovely views of the water and jetty. It just happened to be sunset time and it was the perfect t weather. No fog, not chilly, clear beautiful evening. We were able to sit outside in the back since we had our dog with us. Paulina was our server and she was AMAZING! She was great with recommendations, answered my many many questions and was absolutely made our dinner perfect. She was attentive and made sure we felt appreciated and valued as a customer. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of any of our food because we were so hungry, but we did snap one photo of our lovely dessert. We look forward to coming back and trying the clams, cioppino, gnocchi and the ice cream. Thank you so much for a great evening!
