As a new resident to SV I was worried I wouldn't find a good hair salon as old habits are hard to break, esp. if they're good. I walked into the Salon to inquire and was welcome by the front desk Gal along with Ashland who said she would be glad to help me, I needed an appointment that week, they were able to help to squeeze me into her schedule on short notice, she is very talented in hair styling and extremely sweet. Dropped into Faust to see if they had any thoughts on attractive styles for very thin, very fine hair. They were so knowledgeable and had such great ideas that I scheduled an appointment for the same week. Jennifer gave me a shampoo with Ivati and a deep conditioner that left my hair in better shape than it has been for over a year! She then gave me an orbi(?) haircut. The haircut allowed me to keep most of my length (a little past shoulder length), something that is seldom done with thin, fine hair. Even with my hair back in a ponytail, compliments are flying in. When my hair is down everyone is impressed. I keep touching it and looking in mirrors because Jennifer has done the impossible, I look like I have more hair than I actually do! I am back in love with my hair. Jennifer was a pleasure to just hang out with. She is down to earth, fun to talk with and has over a decade of experience in the hair industry. She knows what she is doing but has more interests than appearance - so refreshing in someone with so much talent. Do you have thin, fine hair? Is your hair brittle? Had my first spray tan from Whitney. I loved how she explained the entire process showing me physically how to stand, hold arms, move face, etc which made for a very even tan. I went here yesterday with very long, and in need of care hair. I had an idea of what I wanted done, and ciara was able to give me that and more. My hair was limp, dry, and very frizzy at the ends but it looks incredible now! I never would have guessed I would love short hair so much. It feels so healthy and looks so good now. I had a great experience with Amber . She did awesome highlights "Balayge" style. I have dark wavy hair so it was nice see my hair with caramel color highlights . She also finished up with Nice blow out. She took time to explain the procedure and all the step by step. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she consulted me on what it would look like on my hair. I felt confident . She took time by leaving toner on my hair to make sure it won't be too orange. I read the reviews on Yelp, Desperatly needed help. (a)nna took a razor to my hair although I said that a blonde with fine hair doesn't do well with this...boy, was I wrong!!! Beautiful cut & color correction. Takes me 10 min to style my hair in the morning for work. I'm three days out and someone I hadn't seen for a month insisted I'd been on vacation. (A)nna, (the owner?) was so gracious: offered me FREE the newest products with a FREE shampoo & styling anytime. Had a GREAT experience!!! P/S: You know that boring inquisition with a new stylist (where do you work, family etc., etc., trying to make some connection?) Not here...you will be thouroughly entertained by bright, intelligent women. Beautiful salon, good music. First time here and I've made standing appointments every six weeks. I went here for a massage while traveling from out of town. I normally go to female massage therapists, so when I saw I had a male one I didn't know what to expect. Max was incredible!! Lisa did the perfect color for my hair. She was spot on and this was very difficult since I have mostly gray roots( which are resistant) with highlights. When the roots grow back and the ends fade in color no one has been able to figure the perfect science. Lisa did and used the "deep" Aveda line I moved and wish I lived near Scotts Valley so Lisa could do my hair. read more

I recently moved out of state and called Anna to see if I could get help with a hair emergency (seriously!) because I was coming back into CA for a quick family visit. I've been seeing Nina (the Scotts Valley Nina!!) for two years, and she is one of my favorite people. When I enter the salon, she greets me with such genuine kindness and happiness to see me...it's delightful. She totally "gets" me, too, and knows how I function. She knows how I like the water temperature; she knows I prefer less crowded times so I can zen out. She remembers how I style my hair, and she's an amazing communicator. To start, I am used to letting my hair grow out and then shaving it off when I get too hot. So recently, my wife pleaded that I get a haircut. She suggested I go to Faust and see her stylist Marissa. Since that day I've gone back ever since. It's a great experience and Marissa knows what she's doing. The staff at Faust is very helpful and welcoming. I have been coming to Faust for about 4 years and get my hair colored and cut by Marissa. I always love how it turns out. Regardless of how long I have been a client, Marissa always takes the time to discuss any changes or what I am looking for. The best compliment to Marissa is in the fact that both my Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law have become long term clients as well. My teenage son has crazy curly hair and likes to keep it longer for that "surfer" look. No matter who cuts (we always make appointments at the last minute) it he comes out looking like the "Mr. Swagger" we jokingly call him. So the entire team get a thumbs up from a 14 year old! It is nice to walk into a place and be greeted by your first name and feel confident that you are in good hands. Anna Wu is the owner and I am impressed by her attention to detail and customer service. She is a skilled makeup artist and recently gave me a great make up lesson without overselling me. I have been going to Faust Salon in Scotts Valley for over 9 years now! I love Anna, the Salon owner. She is extremely professional and has such a wonderful energy about her. When you walk in the door she makes you feel welcome and as if you are part of the family! Not only is she an outstanding business owner but she has incredible style sense. Anna is also a make-up artist and stylist herself -- she did my daughter's makeup and hair for her wedding and we couldn't have been happier. Anna keeps the salon updated with the latest style techniques and salon supplies and she hires top notch stylists. Lisa in particular is my favorite. We are new to the area of Santa Cruz so I didn't have any idea who I wanted to trust with my hair. I checked out reviews on this very yelp site and Faust came on top. People seemed very pleased with the customer service and results. To make things more scary, I was considering going red! So I made my apt with Lisa who is the red hair go-to-girl. She is super sweet and not pushy at all. She and I worked together to come up with the best color for my skin tone and hair. I must admit, this is one of my favorite hair color memories I've had. Anna, another employee there, is super fun and awesome and treats you like a best friend. My hair needed a lot of work and both Lisa and Anna made me feel like I was at home. Was just trying to brush it off but now an hour later I'm still shocked by it. So good two experiences here, one not good, I think I can give it another chance in the future. I recently had my first visit to Faust & absolutely loved it. The salon itself has a very professional feel, & it was very well organized/clean. I liked how spacious it is. I was booked with Jessica for a haircut. My hair was in pretty bad shape from years of lightening/coloring, as well as many bad haircuts/shaving the sides of my hair. My hair didn't really feel like it blended well because of the different lengths from growing it out. I was a little nervous about finally getting my hair cut professionally, as many stylists in the past didn't really listen to what I wanted. However, Jessica was amazing. I showed her a couple pictures to give her an idea of what I wanted done & she took extra time & care into making sure she gave me the perfect haircut. She's very friendly & has a great energy. When she was finished, I was beyond happy. All of my past haircut mistakes definitely left a dent in my self esteem, so having someone who understood what I wanted & was actually able fixed my hair really meant a lot. Had so much fun getting my hair colored by Anna at Faust in Scott's Valley. I had a year of damaging bleach jobs done and she helped me get my fried hair looking healthy and normal again. Not only did she give me an amazing deep conditioning, but she chose a color for my hair that I feel better suits my skin tone than my natural coloring. She used great products that didn't damage it at all, but rather rejuvenated it. Very professional, very welcoming. Lisa is absolutely wonderful with color and cutting. My hair is changing as I'm in my early 50s and Lisa works with it wavey and straight. She takes her time and I get a perfect cut every time. My color is WONDERFUL. I'm a dirty blonde/light brown and my hair is fine. Lisa can keep it looking natural. But she also enjoys adding some cool color just for fun. Other reviews have mentioned high prices, no way. Compared to other places I've gone...and the quality of the services it's very reasonable. Two weeks ago I dropped in at 4.30 pm on a Sunday for a blonde hair colour correction, and Ali was nice enough to help me out. She did a fabulous job with my hair. It went from an awkward orange colour to a really nice beach blonde. She was super friendly, professional, and lovely to chat to.
