Went there for a pizza fix and glad I did. Place was cozy and staff was great. My husband and I both got a beer flight and both of our beers were warm which was so disappointing. Who likes warm beer??! We started off with a chopped salad (which they separated in two bowls) and Arancini (fried risotto balls). Both were yummy and definitely would order the arancini again. We couldn't decide on which kind of pizza to get and was split between 4. The waitress gave us the option of getting all 4 different styles in two 12 inch pizza. Score! We got the at last, casanova, manifesto, and Brussel sprouts pizza. Yes we were starving. They were all surprisingly good. My favorite was the Casanova because of the subtle sweetness to it from the dates. Of course we ended up taking it home because our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs. Drove into Phoenix and wanted Italian, What we got was not what was advertised through door dash. When I called Federal, the guy who answered the phone did not care that the meal was not was was expected. Instead he started telling me why I got what I ordered, that they had to deconstruct it to send it by door dash, and that I didn't get any plastic fork, knife or napkins because I didn't read it somewhere in the menu. Trouble is, I was ordering to a hotel. Then he lectured me about being sustainable..... poor little confused guy doesn't even know what the word really means, but he sure sounded proud of himself. He blamed door dash and door dash blamed the restaurant. I will NEVER order from Federal PIzza anywhere! What a sad disappointment. read more

Came here for a lunch with my mom. Driving up, I could only imagine how crowded and insane parking gets for dinner or on the weekend, just keep in mind there is additional parking across the street, with a crossing light to get you safely across rather than j-walking it. I thought it was the coolest thing that they handmade all their wine coolers, so I ordered a Grapefruit Ginger. It was so delicious and refreshing, I wanted to take a 6-pack home, but couldn't do that so I gladly and happily drank it there. This was both of our first times there so we weren't too sure what to get, our waitress recommended the Lunch Special called The Double down. It comes with your choice of 1/2 pizza and a salad. Automatically knowing that's what I I was going to do, I ordered the Chicken Panzanella and the Big Star Pizza, and of course me, knowing me, knew I still needed more, so I also ordered the Buffalo Federal Wings. The wings were delicious and grilled to perfection. The salad... wasn't my ultimate favorite, as the lemon dressing just got to be too sweet and bitter towards the end but were strangely perfect in the beginning. The pizza, on the other hand, I still see in my dreams. The cheese was so perfect, and the toppings wonderfully complimented each other without overpowering the other. I have only gotten pizza and wings to go at Federal since it's only a quarter mile from the house. It is handy when there is no reason to cook. My friends are big fans from way back so I needed to finally try it. I like their wings better than their pizza but that's just me. There have always been friendly, engaged workers on my four or five visits which causes me to feel like going back again and again. Pizza, I believe, is on size only but it is good. Also, it carries over to warming up the next day for lunch since we rarely eat the whole thing because I always add wings to the order. Wings also re-heat well. read more

I try everything once, I ordered a pitcher of a local brewery I hadn't heard of and the buyers were actually there. With that being said they bought my pitcher and I didn't know until afterwards. The patio is great for people watching, Postinos and Joy ride are around the corner if you want to hop around. Food. This is good pizza. However, the pizza only comes in a size medium, aka 12 inches, which is pretty small if feeding a whole family. It was also about $16 for a pepperoni.. A $16 medium pepperoni pizza just does not appeal to me. I did not realize the size when I ordered. I did not mind too much, but I will not return because I find this pizza overpriced. The entire length of our dinner we raved about the service, ambiance, speed, and the actual food itself. We ordered the crispy mozzarella, honey hot wings, and the meatball pizza. We are over the moon with the experience that we had today at Federal Pizza. We will happily make the 30 minute drive from Mesa frequently! If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars because I don't think it deserved the full 4. I ordered the assortment of wings and they came out room temperature, as if they had been sitting out for a little, but they were still good. Originally, I do not like honey mustard wings... but they made me love it!The pizza was so good I wanted to kiss it - and I did! I would've given it a 4.5 if my wings had been warm and it had not taken so long, it took a long time. To be honest I just love having reasons to hang out in uptown phoenix, and I'll take any excuse to enjoy some comfort food style pizza. Federal takes that artisan style craft pizza inspired by Bianco & removes all of the unnecessary fuss that isnt needed when youre having PIZZA. There always a fun and adventurous array of toppings & the starters usually change so you can enjoy a nice change of pace for each visit. Staff is decent, they tip share so the urgency is lacking & your server/bartender will go missing quite often. Pricing of food & most drinks is fantastic. The beer selection is above average, lots of same ol same ol that is already sold all over the valley. Wine selection usually has at least something palatable, but their list is focused more on the price point crowd & not the enthusiast. Girls bring a sweater, the AC is always blasting in here.
