Our go-to lazy night place! We love the Happy Valley Federico's location! The staff is always super friendly and the restaurant is clean. You can't beat the quality for the price you pay, and honestly everything is so flavorful! My husband and I usually order the burrito and enchilada combo. We appreciate that Federico's will let you choose a different burrito or enchilada if beef & cheese is not your preference. We LOVE the red hot sauce and typically take home a few extras. As Bert's go it wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't the best. Shredded Beef Chimichanga was flavorful, a little too lightly fried for my preference, like the were not completely done. Flour tortilla was still pretty white rather than fried to golden crispness. The portion was large with Rice and beans. Rolled tacos contained almost no meat, practically just rolled tortilla. Personally a waste of money. The taco salad was good, the guacamole though seemed.... old? Unfortunately we ordered a side of rice and beans which cost a buck fitty each, they came in very small containers like a little salsa or sour cream might come in, sort of a cheap serving. The green sauce came prepackaged and sealed which didn't scream freshly made. It came to a little over $30 which I didn't feel was too expensive. Currently mixed feelings on returning. read more

If you have only one culinary experience for a fast breakfast while in PHX, it must be one of these authentic spots, like Federico's. Easy drive thru, and huge delicious and piping hot egg, cheese, etc., burritos. I crave the red hot sauce they provide in little cups, which is perfect when poured into a breakfast burrito. My husband was humoring me to start our trip up north with a breakfast burrito before hitting the road but he was won over. I can never finish a whole one but the price is super affordable for what I can eat of it. Had to order a large horchata to cool the fire after 4 cups of red hot sauce - which works perfectly. The drive thru was easy and we did wait a few at the window for our hot fresh order. The gal on the speaker and at the window was very nice and looked at us like we were crazy. Good food, and consistent quality however the service is definitely spotty. The night time crew seems to do well with getting orders right but every time I come during lunch, they never get my order correct. Today, I went and ordered carne asada fries specifically but they gave me a carne asada burrito and told me that I ordered the burrito, not the fries. I'm pretty sure I know what I ordered at the drive thru. The lady didn't even offer to exchange it, she just said I could pay for the fries too. Not sure what management or new change has happened at this Federico's, but the new beans and rice are super bland. It's almost as if they forgot to add salt and seasoning to them. This use to be my go to Federico's. I do not know what has happened with in the last few months but the food has been no where near as good as it use to be. I am almost certain they are serving old food and have become lazy. There's so much 2 people could eat it depends how hungry you are. They also have half nachos too. The breakfast burritos are good. My brother likes their carne asada fries. Also they have by the forks some side items like pickle carrots, onions & salsa. The salsa is good. It's a bit spicy. It kicks in alittle after you eat it. Holy chimichangas Federico's is incredible!!! My fiancé and I live down the street from an always packed (wrapped around with cars drive thru) Federico's. We finally decided to venture out of our Mexican food comfort zone and give this popular place a try. Boy were we pleasantly surprised to find a new favorite!!! We went the drive thru route and had to wait a little bit but not too long considering the popularity and the fact they make your food when you order it and not before! We each ordered a shredded beef chimichanga meal that is accompanied by rice, beans, sour cream, pico, and guacamole. Every single bite we put in our mouths was perfection! The chimi was fried melt in our mouths goodness, the meat was flavorful, and the sides were yummy as well. The only bummer was that we did not get any chips or significant salsa with our meals. The food here is quality, but just to let you know it isn't cheap. Our two meals were around $25, and while it was a decent amount of food it did seem like a lot for fast food. They didn't get our order right, the gentleman said he didn't hear us, when I asked a question about an item he said that he didn't understand what I was asking! I love this location! We tend to go on late weekday evenings and the drive thru does get pretty packed but tends to move quickly! I love the employee who greets us at the window, they are sweet, likeable, and do their job very well! Also I really enjoy their horchata, tastes much more authentic than other establishments. It is not milky, more on the refreshing side which I love! I would definitely try that with the stuffed churros.
