Aet here Sunday with our daughter home from New Orleans while in between Grad school semesters. This is a FANTASTIC BBQ place. We have eaten here many times. This time during COVID-19. It took a little longer to order. EVERYTHING is full of flavor and great taste. Beef is very moist and juicy. if you are an onion ring fan like myself you have to try the their onion rings. There are times that a small gesture of kindness can show the true content of a person and make all the difference to the other person. We went to dine there the other night for the first time in at least a year. Ordered our food and paid and realized they do cash tipping. My wife and I had zero dollars on us in cash. Zero. Was embarrassed but figured I would be going back again soon and would make it up. Anyway, they have a soft serve ice cream machine that was 50c, cash I a bucket thing. Our 2yo wanted some of course and there wasn't a way to pay with card. A gentleman, maybe the owner, just said go ahead with a smile. It was only 50c, but that kind gesture meant the world to me and my son. The food was really good. Jalapeño sausage, sliced brisket and the pinto beans, with meat, were all excellent. Wife loved the wet chopped brisket as well. We will be going back often and they have customers for as long as we live here due to good food and a show of kindness that wasn't required but they did it anyway. read more

Visiting from California and was excited to have Texas BBQ. Sooo much fun to visit the local favorite, stand in line, order, watch them prep the meat and then help yourself to the sides. A fun experience. The mashed tators were yummy. Loved the sausage. My man devoured the chicken fried steak. Afterward we visited the cows and donkeys out back. Got curb side, was quick and everything was perfect, it smelled so good we ate in right in the parking lot and I haven't had BBQ this good in a whileee. Fried okra was amazing, pulled pork sandwich out of this world! I love their bbq sauce. Would definitely recommend, and for mac and cheese critics like me, it's TOP TIER. read more

My husband eats here a couple of times a month and absolutely loves it. The lean sliced brisket is cooked to perfection! It is seasoned well and has a perfect smoke ring. Had a craving for brisket and didn't want to travel too far or wait in a line in the hot Texas sun all day. Now I know if you want the best.. that's exactly what you'll be doing! I've started making the rounds all through DFW to get a good lay of the land and who has the best of the best in smoked meats.I like a nice thick moist brisket slice with thick bark and tons of seasoning. The best don't need any sauce in my humble opinion. I came in around 1P.M. on a Sunday and there was no line. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket and turkey. I chose Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes for sides. The sides didn't look like much, but they never really do. I don't go to a BBQ joint for the sides- you simply get surprised if they turned out to be tasty. The brisket was a nice cut, but wasn't seasoned as I'd hoped. The turkey was very moist and still lean. I was pleasantly surprised by this, but again.. no seasoning or real flavor I was looking for in the meat itself. Their spicy bbq sauce really helped give the kick I was looking for. Potatoes still had the skins on them and definitely had a good flavor- some of the best I've had, but I didn't get any gravy so I was a little disappointed by that- maybe it's an up charge for takeout? Not sure. Mac & cheese was ok as well. I wasn't blown away but worth another stop in to check out how it fares the second time around! read more

I thought it was great! We had the pulled pork and wet brisket sandwich plates. Yum!! The bbq sauce is really good. I loved the potato salad ..Mac and cheese was fine/good. The mashed potatoes were good (minus the gravy). The only thing that sucked was the banana pudding. I hate fake banana flavoring. They should just do vanilla pudding and add bananas and wafers. Never make banana pudding with artificial banana flavor! But overall it was really good!! I'd go back here for sure. read more

Saw the good reviews of this place and was looking forward to trying their BBQ. The pork ribs were over salted and hard to eat. The brisket was on the dry side but the bbq sauce helped if you drench it. The service was disappointing; the guy at the register and a tall big guy bagging the food never greeted or thanked me. Sooooo delicious, hands down the best BBQ I've had in the last few years. My daughter had the ribs, fall off the bone delicious and no sauce needed. I had the grilled Cajun catfish, so delicious and with a true Cajun flavor. Yummmy. The sides were so so and basic, mac and cheese was typical of a bbq joint. Coleslaw was fire though! Feed store BBQ is great food, convenient to where I live and as reasonably priced as any competitor. I love their pork ribs and the hot links. I'm not a fan of cheese in my sausage so I stay away from the regular version. The brisket can be a little hit and miss, since sometimes there is a distinct lack of a smokey flavor and the "wet" version can be very fatty. I know they offer a wet or a dry (lean) version, but a little fat is fine, after all that's where the flavor lives. All the sides are awesome, especially the spicy pinto beans. And the desserts, oh wow, the pecan cobbler is amazing. All the staff is great and they are fast. They've handled big orders for me really well. I have dined in and had carry out as well, and they treated us really well. read more

Very disappointed. Food quality was no where near previous visits, the ordering process was the worst if any post-covid restaurant we've visit. The staff seemed disengaged. There's too many great barbecue restaurants nearby to warrant a return to this one. Too bad. read more

DH and one kiddo like this place a lot. The other kiddo and I don't like meat quite as much and prefer Hard 8 because we think their sides are better. We tried Feedstore BBQ tonight for the first time. I had the rib plate with potato salad and spicy beans. My better half had a pulled pork sandwich. Both dinners were very tasty, and the staff was very helpful. Had enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We will definitely be returning to this place. A solid 5 star experience for us. read more

Family owned and operated - they are the sweetest! I love that they remember me when I order to-go. I've tried their fried catfish platter and their chicken fried steak (which is only available tues, thurs, and sun btw). The portions are huge - makes perfect leftovers. And their sides are great! This Southlake joint does an incredible job offering quality BBQ at a reasonable price in a setting that alludes Texas pride through-n-through. Customers choose from a wide verity of classic BBQ favorites. I ordered the 3 meat combo that comes with 2 sides. The brisket, ribs, and sausage were great. I recommend the fried okra as a side. Loved it! Skip the beans-they were ok. The restaurant has a comfortable ambiance and laid back atmosphere. As soon as you enter, the smell of slow cooked BBQ fills the place. Customers approach the counter, where the food/menu is visible, order and pay, and then find their own seating. Warm rolls and self serve ice cream is included with the meal as well. If I could give 5 stars to a self-serve restaurant, this would be the one. Typical of BBQ places, lines build up quickly here so picking an off-hour is good. Recently we returned with put of town guests who were hungering for some TX tradition so off to Southlake we went. Nestled near mega homes sits the Feedstore where I bought dog food many years ago. Food is good. I always love the ribs and others raved about their varied meat choices....there are many. The sides are self-serve and varied...hard to pick just two. This time fried okra and greens hit the spot....yum. Tasty rolls and a goodly selection of condiments including peppers, onions, pickles and two types of bbq sauces round out the meal. read more

Did a carryout for our first visit here. All I can say was this BBQ was excellent. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. Pulled Pork and sliced Brisket were moist and flavorful. This should be a landmark bbq place and and it simply isn't. It's just mediocrity defined. So much great barbecue nearby and somehow this place packs em in but then again some folks think Dickeys is too notch product. They have too much stuff on the menu. Barbecue, plus f'n catfish ('never a good mix) chicken fried steak, burgers, big salads. Too many sides. My belief is the best barbecue places only focus on barbecue, most don't have fryers because the barbecue requires so much work that maintaining fryers and cooking a ton of sides takes away. This place is a perfect example. Eaten here several times and I'm done. Gray flavorless briskets, bad sausage, watery sauce, tasteless beans. Not much else to say. read more

I will not let distance nor forbidden love keep me from the heavenly brisket Feedstore serves. The food here is so delicious that I after a couple bites I seriously considered moving half way across the country to make this my go to restaurant. The sliced brisket is unlike anything I've ever tasted, the natural flavors of the meat are nothing short of explosive. Each of their three sauces compliment the meat in different and equally delicious ways. The mac and cheese is creamy, rich, and addictive. You don't just want another bite, you crave it. The fries are cut and cooked individually for each order, which means you're guaranteed hot delicious fries every time. A glass of sweet tea tops the meal off and makes it easily one of the most memorable of my life. The ribs were tender and well seasoned with rub. I'm used to being served overly sweet bbq so their vinegar based, spicy sauce was a nice change. The brisket was okay. I've had better. I ordered the potato salad and spicy pinto beans - both were really good and not bland. You absolutely MUST try the pecan cobbler if you enjoy pecan pie! It was soooooo rich, buttery and crave-able. I'm going to go ahead and have a disclaimer on this review: I'm ridiculously picky about barbecue. If you do not have high bbq standards or have not lived a life defined by the type of bbq that you prefer, then please, ignore this review. For those of you who have stuck with me, I'll proceed. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon--post church-rush, for those curious-- to virtually no line. The self proclaimed "hole-in-the-wall" boasts delicious bbq and it's reputation goes far in this part of Dallas. The shack was quaint with the sweetest farm animals in the pasture behind. Now, I will say that I am not a brisket fan, an ideology that is basically a sin in Texas, and maybe that preference colored this review. The family I was with seemed to applaud the brisket (no rave reviews were heard, let it be known, but there was general assent and nods of approval). I got a pork sandwich, my usual at bbq joints, and was prepared to stuff my face. The pork was served naked (no sauce) inside its bun. The meat itself was tender and I added their original sauce to really give it a kick. Boy, was I disappointed by this sauce. I will give points that they had it warmed. Oh and their Mac n cheese was good. Let's hope you brisket fans have a better experience. read more

Pulled pork was really well flavored and not greasy. The bbq sauce had a kick to it and was one of my favorite I had in a long time. We also got the turkey, jalapeño sausage and brisket. Mac and cheese was a huge hit, very creamy and cheesey - must have. Potato salad was like your mom or grandmother made, really good homemade taste. And you can sit outside and eat and over look the animals in the pasture - really cute miniature donkeys and goats who come to the fence. read more

Disclaimer: I am a self-professed BBQ snob. It even says so right there on my nickname. I've been to Feedstore BBQ twice now, and I'll continue to go if my colleagues want to go, but my options for good food are shrinking. The first visit, I tried the sliced brisket (I don't do chopped, and certainly not in a sandwich). The meat was dry and devoid of smoke, requiring sauce to make it edible. The second time, I decided to try the burger, to see if some of the other dishes might fare better. In fairness, the burger I received was prepared as I ordered, on a toasted bun with cheddar cheese and crisp, fresh vegetables. However, the meat, though somewhat juicy, just didn't have a great deal of flavor without some doctoring, and it could have done with a little less cook time. Nonetheless, it was more successful than my BBQ plate from the first visit. Next time, I think I'll try the catfish. But all of this is not to say that the place is all bad. The decor is somewhat traditional, and the service was friendly both times. Some of the side dishes are pretty good (I had turnip greens today, which were very good) and there's ice cream. Everything goes better with ice cream. Bottom line, if you want good Texas BBQ, this is not the place. The lunch specials are priced well, and it's got atmosphere, but just don't come with your expectations set too high. read more

One of my pet peeves when going out to eat is when I ask the staff what is special about their restaurant and they have nothing to say or nothing to recommend. This place was not like that. I explained to the guy behind the counter, Wes, that it was my first time visiting Texas, and that I found this place on Yelp and that this would probably be my first and last time visiting his establishment. I thought he wasn't listening to me but before I was done speaking he handed me a single rib and said "try this." It was one of the most delicious ribs I have had. A little salty from the rub but delicious none the less. I knew I could trust him at that point so I just said surprise me. I ended up getting a combo plate with 3 ribs and brisket. He even tossed in a couple sausage slices for me to try. For sides he suggested I try his grandmas green beans and the mac n cheese. It even came with a hot roll that I used to make a brisket sandwich. Overall it was one of the best BBQ meals I have ever had. The portion size was huge, the flavor was delicious, the service was helpful, and the price was reasonable. I didn't have too high an expectation for a restaurant nested in a residential neighborhood full of mansion houses and churches. But I was wrong. Very very tender pork ribs, melting on the folk lean brisket, creamy Mac b cheese, green beans with a hint of meat flavor. Flavor is spot on fur everything. Decent price too.
