I've passed Feges BBQ a few times and finally decided to stop in when a serious BBQ craving hit. I brought my 16-year-old son along for the quest. It's a walk-up, order, and pay first type of setup. The place itself is nice and roomy, and the menu was pretty easy to interpret. My kid went with the sliced brisket sandwich and a side of seasoned fries. They offer a few sausage options--hot links, mild, and paprika--and I was pretty hyped to try the hot links. Unfortunately, they were out that day, and I later realized all of their sausages are pork-based anyway, which took a little wind out of my sails. So I pivoted and ordered lean brisket and smoked turkey with sides of Charro Beans and Spicy Korean Braised Greens. The brisket was tender and flavorful, exactly what you want from good Texas BBQ. The turkey was cooked just right and had a really nice smoky flavor. The Korean braised greens definitely slapped my mouth with a good kick of spice, which I appreciated. The Charro Beans also had a little heat to them, which made them more interesting than your typical BBQ beans. One small gripe: I wish restaurants would list the added ingredients in their bean dishes. Is it pork? Beef? Something else? Sure, I could ask--and if it were a serious concern, I would--but it's still a courtesy to guests who might forget to ask and have legitimate reasons for avoiding certain meats. They also had a trio of BBQ sauces: Texas Gold (mustard-based...not my thing), Alabama White (mayo-based...what even is happening there?), and Sweet Red. I'm old-school and stuck in my ways--give me something close to a classic red sauce and I'm happy. The Sweet Red delivered and paired nicely with the brisket. My son gave his sandwich a solid thumbs-up and said the seasoning on the fries was the cherry on top. All in all, the craving was satisfied and I got to try a new BBQ spot. That's always a good day.
And we're back. Today we stumbled across Happy Hour which allowed us to try a few more things on the menu. The staff was friendly and helpful. This time the restaurant was a little busier. We ordered to go to take home to enjoy and the wait time was not bad at all. The sliced brisket sandwich was tasty and a great portion. (Not pictured) We also had the 2 meat plate with ribs and a side of elote salad and dirty rice. My son was disappointed that there were only 3 ribs on a double meat plate. The wings were tasty and a great price only $1 per wing during HH. The banana pudding was the perfect ending with a a generous portion size.
I was looking for a best burger in Houston to try, and this place popped up several times during my search, so of course, like any normal human, we went to give it a try! And of course, like any normal Texan, we didn't only get the burger, but we got bbq too and nothing....I mean NOTHING...disappointed!!! The staff were awesome, super helpful and patient as our group of four decided what to do. We went with a family option that inlcuded Turkey, Sausage, Ribs, Wings and Brisket. It also came with 3 sides, bread and dessert! It was A LOT of food, but perfect for sharing between 4 people. The burger was definitely delicious, I see why people say it's great. The only thing I wish I had done was dipped it in ketchup to get the acidic taste that I was craving, but I was too excited to leave the table because of all the other food that was right in front of me! The turkey was a star of it's own, I'm not usually one to get turkey, ever, when I'm out and about, but this turkey slapped. It was juicy, tender, smokey, flavored beautifully. I was thoroughly surprised! The brisket and the ribs were so so so good. The meat on the ribs fell right off the bone, and was great with and without the sauce. The brisket had just the right amount of meat to fat ratio. I usually go the more lean route, but what they gave me worked just fine! The sausage I wasn't a huge fan of, but all my friends loved it. It's always a hit or miss for me, I think its just me! The sides we went with were the brussels, loaded potatoes and the mac and cheese. I wasn't sure on the mac, bc it was a pimento mac and cheese, but it was warm, creamy, gooey, and droolworthy. Super good. We also tried 2 different flavors of the wings. I'd say the wings needed a little more smoke time, because they were a little hard for me to eat, but the flavors were good, we chose two flavors that weren't spicy at all. Just the right amount of kick to be like...oooo! lol. Anywho, great patio space to sit out and enjoy the nice weather, it is shaded! They also had a kids play area you can just let them run around while you enjoy your meal. Definitely can't wait to come back and have some more food!
Came here tonight after hearing about Feges BBQ being featured in Texas Monthly, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We ordered the brisket, a link of jalapeño cheese sausage, pork ribs, Brussels sprouts, fried okra, and a salad. Honestly, these were probably the best sides I've had at a BBQ spot--the Brussels and fried okra really stood out. Personally, I really enjoyed the sausage and pork ribs the most. The sausage had great flavor and a nice kick, and the ribs were tender and well-seasoned. The brisket was solid--definitely better than your average BBQ brisket and still very enjoyable. The setup is typical BBQ style: order at the counter and seat yourself. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and the place was filled with families, giving it a welcoming, neighborhood feel. It's clearly a family-friendly spot. The staff is quick and accommodating. If I lived in the area, this would absolutely be a regular stop for me. Great food, great atmosphere, and well worth checking out.
Good option for BBQ. Spacious inside with plenty of seating and a good place to watch sports on the huge projectors. Employee at the front gave great recommendations. We tried the brisket, pork spare ribs, spicy sausage, and turkey. The turkey was moist and tender with good flavor. We also really liked the spare ribs - they had a nice glaze with just the right amount of sweetness, not too overbearing. Brisket was solid, and we found the sausage a bit dry. For sides, we did the gumbo, cornbread, Mac and cheese, and brussel sprouts. Gumbo was loaded with chicken and great, and the cornbread was excellent. Mac had a good bite and flavor from the pimento cheese. Brussels had too much vinaigrette which made it too sweet and soggy, would have been great if not for that. Overall a solid spot to get TX bbq with great sides. We hear the Tuesday family platters are a fantastic deal too!
One BBQ at the time. Service and atmosphere: We received very good customer service. The ordering process was smooth and easy. The restaurant itself is modern and very well designed. They even offer outdoor playground for kids. Food and drinks: The menu was good and offered typical BBQ staples. Unfortunately, they run out of brisket. I ordered turkey and pulled pork with two sides ($22 combo plate). The turkey was very good. Great seasoning and it was moist. Pulled pork was okay. It was more on a dry side. It tasted better when combined with the signature sides. Chicken wings were juicy and were coated with good sauces. The sides of pickles and onions were okay. I enjoyed the spices but the pickles had skin that was too tough and the onions needed to be pickled longer. They offer variety of alcoholic beverages. Pricing: $$ - average, however, the portion of the two meats plate was pretty small for $22.
Started initially as catering and pop-ups in 2012, Feges BBQ opened its first permanent location in 2018 in Greenway Plaza's food court. The second location opened in 2021 in this Spring Branch location, which we stopped by during a late afternoon Saturday. We found their offerings to be great, with emphasis on value and personalized service. My brother knows I really love happy hour (HH) menus, and discovered that Feges-Spring Branch is one of the few places that offers it on Saturdays. It has gotten numerous awards, including the coveted Texas Monthly 50 best BBQ joints in Texas. So even though all of us had already eaten lunch, he stopped by for dine-in during our drive back to his house in Humble. It wasn't too busy, so he had time to look at their HH menu and order a variety of things. You order and pay at the counter, and they will bring it out for you. Tori was the cashier/manager during our stay, and she was great: offering suggestions, making sure the discount for my brother's service was accounted for (the restaurant's founder is a veteran as well), and checking in on us during the meal. 20 Wings HH (a dollar a piece during happy hour) - chose three flavors of sweet bbq, sweet thai, lime red hot. My brother and nephew seemed to really enjoy them, decent size, with thick joint sticking glaze on the grilled wings. Chopped beef sandwich ($10); Pulled Pork sandwich (10): both on soft potato buns, they were both very good, little gristle, plenty of meat with smokey flavor. Bottles of coors light was $4 a piece, and went great with the meal. Pazole ($18) - this was highly recommended by Tori, so we got a large bowl. It had plenty of shredded chicken and hominy, with a very nuanced green broth. This was my favorite...couldn't finish more than half but took the rest home, and ate it while watching a movie later that night. There is a full, fresh condiment tray with sweet/hot pickles, fresh onions, pickled onions and pickled jalapenos. The choices of bbq sauces really added to the meal: reminded me of the four combo from Famous Dave's except a lot tastier. I especially liked the texas gold (tasted a lot like hot mustard sauce from Mickey D's) and the Sweet spicy vinegar sauce. It went great with both the pulled pork and chopped beef sandwiches...instead of putting it on the sandwich, I just dipped the whole sandwich in the sauce before every bite. Really good!
Continuing my quest to try all the best BBQ in Texas, my recent quest brought me and my besties to Feges BBQ in Spring Branch. This is their main location, but they also have a small location in an office building in Greenway Plaza area. Feges has made the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ list multiple time as well as Thrillist and other top ranking lists. It sits on a corner of a shopping strip with lots of parking. We came at opening time on a Saturday. You just never know how the lines at these popular spots will be on a weekend, but the BBQ gods were on our side as the crowd were very light. Let me tell you, the customer service was outstanding. We wanted to try a bunch of things and the nice, young gal taking our order gave us the most cost effective way to do it and we ended up getting to try more things. Throughout our meal, the staff was checking on us regularly and asked if we needed anything. Shoutout to Henry for going above and beyond the whole time. Inside is nice and spacious with alot of seating. They have a small playground outside as well as a spacious patio. The weather was perfect so we sat outside. I've had Feges on my radar for awhile for BBQ, but recently I've been seeing stuff on social media about their burger as well. So we got the Feges Burger which is a smash burger and it came with two patties, American cheese, pickles, onions and sauce. For a BBQ spot, their burger was excellent. It also came with seasoned fries which were really good. For BBQ, we ended up with some sort of family meal deal. It came with 3 meats, 3 sides and a dessert of our choice. We went with brisket, turkey, pork ribs, chili jack sausage, loaded mash potatoes, sweet + spicy sprouts and pimento mac & cheese. First off, all the meats were good. The ribs and sausage were equally my favorites. The ribs had this delicious bark on it and the meat was fall off the bone tender. The sausage had a nice kick to it. The turkey was a surprise hit. It was probably some of the best turkey I've had at a BBQ spot. It was so juicy and flavorful. The brisket to me was just ok. It was cooked just right, but it didn't wow me. Next time I will make sure to ask for some moist brisket. The sides were all so good especially the sprouts. It was nice to get a bite of something green between all the other rich food we were eating. To round out our tasting, we got an order of their smoked wings as well. We got the hot red and sweet Thai flavors. I personally liked the wings alot. I typically like a crispy, fried wing, but they achieved that crisp while smoking it as well. I do wish the flavors were just a little more pronounced. To finish off our meal, we got the PB&J chocolate cake. I'm a sucker for peanut butter flavors anything and this cake delivered on that. The cake itself was nice and moist. Overall, Feges did not disappoint. I plan on bringing the fam out here really soon. It definitely sits high up on my all time favorite Houston BBQ spots.
Feges BBQ, Houston, TX (pronounced Regis with an F in case anyone else was wondering. The owners last name! ) VisitingHouston; searched for a BBQ spot and stumbled upon this gem! We decided to go with 3 orders of 2 meats/2 sides ($21 each) + side of fries + desserts = $100 - so reasonable! Everything was A+++! Including the amazing service! Meats - Brisket 10/10, Pork ribs 10/10 Sides - Loaded mash, Brussels, Elote salad, Pimento mac & cheese, fries, all amazing! Salad - summer salad Desserts -Churro banana pudding, carrot cake, chocolate bread pudding, all big winners. Literally everything was delicious. The customer service was also phenomenal. The owner came by our table and spoke to us personally and corrected a dessert order issue that we had, giving us an extra dessert (thought we'd ordered carrot cake but chocolate bread pudding delivered instead. We didn't even ask, he just brought the carrot cake as soon as he saw our confusion.) We'll so definitely be back
Based on the mixed reviews I was pleasantly surprised. Was it the best BBQ? Definitely not, but it got the job done. I was expecting the line to be outside the door but it was a steady crowd. The ambulance feels like a BBQ sports bar since they have several big screen TV's to watch the game. I decided to order their two meat plate. I wanted pork ribs but they were sold out around 12 noon, which is a little crazy because they open at 11am. So I went ahead and got the moist brisket, burnt ends and my two sides were the Mac and Cheese & bbq dirty rice. I also ordered their 10 piece wings, half red hot and half curry lime. My friend got the brisket sandwich. Let's start with the moist brisket, it was solid. Not the most tender but it wasn't dry. It was a dry rub but I wished they would've seasoned it with more salt. Brisket wasn't that fatty as I would've liked it, but I enjoyed it. The burnt ends were sweet, nicely glazed with I'm assuming it was some sort of maple syrup. Mac and Cheese was cheesy and creamy with a subtle pimento cheese flavor. I also like the noodles they used for the Mac. Dirty rice was fine but I'm not a fan of sweet dirty rice but understandable since it has bbq sauce mixed in. The wings were not bad, I think they smoke it to order. The curry lime was decent but there was no curry flavor just lime, curry could've been stronger. The red hot was not hot at all. It was mild with barely any sauce. I wouldn't order it again. My friend sandwich was fine but the bread could've been better in quality. Put that on a brioche bread and toast it with butter and you got yourself a good brisket sandwich. The bbq sauces were just sweet, I like mine spicy and tangy. The pickles were terrible, just sweet. Seems like this restaurant likes their food on the sweeter side. Overall, not bad at all. 3.5/5 stars for the food but I'll round it up to a 4 because the cashier was very nice and answered all of our questions. She made sure we were well taken care of. The restaurant has a nice lay out with good amount of seats separated from one another. Will I come back? Yes. Hopefully they have pork ribs next time.
This is a solid Texas BBQ place. With all the local competition for good BBQ, I think this place will be around for a long time. I won't say it's the best of the best, but it stays competitive and I'll be coming back. Overall all the meats were great. I usually never give chicken or turkey a chance so I didn't go there. The brisket and sausage were great but I must say that Truth BBQ and Blood Brothers are slightly more impressive. I love their free sides like the pickles. I certainly helped myself to much of that. The paid sides like their Brussels sprouts were also quite delicious. You gotta give those a try. They are well- roasted and sweet. The service here is pretty good - not amazing, but the staff are friendly and they come by to clear your table trash often. It's somewhat self-service in that you get your own drink including refills. They do expect full tip despite the semi-self-service since they bring the food to your table. The ambiance is nice. Nothing too showy and definitely clean and decently spacious. It's also not too loud inside despite being pretty packed on a weekday for lunch. There is ample parking and lots of other restaurants and retail nearby. The Long Point / Bingle location isn't the fanciest, so just don't leave valuables in your car. I'll be back when I'm in the mood for some BBQ close by in Spring Branch.
Food was average and diff tasting. Ordered the 2 meat + 2 sides plates x 2. The brisket was a bit dry. The pork ribs were great and tender and seasoned nicely (would get this again) and sausage was moist and flavorful. For sides, the sprouts were baked nicely, the elote was a cold version of it with all the fixings of cheese and seasoning, the corn bread was quite dry, even if you put the butter on it and the fries also lacked seasoning. Also got the 10 pcs happy hour wings ($10 for 10 wings deal). These were good great and tender. Got the Alabama and Sweet Thai flavor (this one was the better flavor). Plenty of seating indoors and even outdoors. Staff was nice and friendly. You can also ask for some slices of bread as complimentary. Wasn't a fan of the pickles. They weren't regular sour pickles, they were more on the sweeter side. Overall, would just come back for the pork ribs. Restrooms - clean Parking - Within the plaza
I came to lunch here with a friend recently. It was almost exactly in between both of our offices. We arrived a little after it opened and ordered a good spread to share. As far as meats got the brisket and sausage initially. Because they had just opened the ribs were not ready yet. Half way through the meal I went back up to the counter to order them as they were now ready. The brisket was dry, the sausage was mediocre (like store bought), the ribs was the best part. They came wet, I usually prefer a dry rub. As far as the sides we got the mac and cheese, potatoes, and brussel sprouts. The potatoes and Brussels sprouts were my fav the mac and cheese was meh. read more

Out of the Top 50 places we have been, this one was definitely different than many. We got there too late to get most of the pork options. The service was great and helped with ordering. The brisket wasn't our favorite but we liked the wings! Very cool place inside and nice patio for a nice day! read more

Feges was my number one to go to in spring branch because of the food the service and the spot itself. I still like it but sucks to say that the pit room opened up near by. I still recommend feges for a more intimate gathering and their bbq sauces are better than the pit room. Both are great just personally I liked the portions better at the pit. read more
Driving around eating Top 50 BBQ that is ranked in the Texas Monthly. Went to Feges BBQ not knowing what to expect. But it was ALL great and the people here are so nice, we even got to meet the Pitmaster, All the food here is great and fabulous. The place is nice and clean and has sitting inside and outside. So the process here is you walk up and place your order you pay and they give you a table tent with a number. You find a place to sit and someone brings your food out. They also have people walking around cleaning tables. This is a nice enjoyable environment to eat at. We got brisket, delicious and moist. Ribs that were tender and smoky. Sausage that had nice flavor. It was ALL delicious. Go, order and enjoy. read more
Everyone here was nice and it's gives the feel of a friendly neighborhood environment however the food didn't impress me. The brisket and chicken were DRY. My turkey was extremely salty. The pimento Mac and cheese had no pimento flavor. And the Alabama white sauce was yellow and not the correct flavor profile. As far as bbq goes, it can get the job done but it's nothing to run home about. A glimmer of light though is their pickled sides were pretty good and fresh. read more
My boss brought this into the office a couple of times from the greenway location, and I was really excited to visit today on my own during my day off... Unfortunately, I was wholly underwhelmed. The loaded mash was coldish, dry, bland mashed potatoes with some shredded cheese and chives on top; the cornbread was not very flavorful; the ribs were about as far from fall off the bone as I have ever seen in barbecue ribs, and whoever did the cutting did a terrible job because every rib bone was cut in half, and there were bone shards everywhere in the meat. Just poor execution. The brisket wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great; the bark, my favorite part was super dry and hard to eat something that I never complain about. I got 3 ribs, 2 slices of brisket, two scoops of cold, dry, bland mashed potatoes and a small cornbread circle... for $40, def did not get any bang for my buck, the best part was the free pickles. If they're not gonna do a two meat plate or something like that, then at least sell the barbecue by the quarter pound and not the half pound, which I'm pretty sure I didn't get a half pound of ribs. read more

BBQ / HOUSTON, TX / SAT 10-01-22 / TAKEOUT DINNER +The pork ribs were juicy and full of flavor; no porky taste. +The loaded mash potatoes and Korean braised greens were really good. +The French Fries stayed crispy even with the 30-minute ride home; seasoning was excellent. -The hogfat cornbread's pork fat was a bit too overpowering for me. -I didn't find the spicy gochujang bbq sauce in my to-go bag. What we ordered: '1 2 lbs of pork ribs $40.00 -sweet pickle slices -pickled red onions -pickled jalapeño slices -original sweet bbq sauce -spicy gochujang bbq sauce -Alabama white sauce -Texas gold sauce '1 large loaded potato mash $16.00 '1 medium Korean braised greens $10.00 '1 small French Fries $4.00 '1 medium hogfat cornbread $8.00 '1 banana cream pie $5.00 Overall, I would return to this American BBQ joint to try the other options. FOOD: high quality meats and side dishes. Good value, priced adequately for the quantity. Best side dish: macaroni and cheese, potatoes. Best meat: burned ends (brisket) SERVICE: weekend at 5pm, quick queue. Cashier helped calculate accurately the portion size for our large party. Order at counter, self sitting. Self-serve soft drinks and silverware. AMBIANCE: ample and comfortable sitting both indoor and outdoor. Cold temperature, comfortable lights. Sports streams in large projection screen. read more
We were a group of four that came here. We ordered a variety of items to try. They had ample seating so we didn't have a problem with finding a table. I thought the prices were okay. We got enough food, didn't go hungry. I actually found this place on YouTube. We ordered brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket burnt ends, elote, and money cat potatoes. Everything was palatable and wec tried all of the sauces. Meat wasn't dry, it was moist and tender. The elote and money cat potatoes were flavorful. They also have a huge parking lot. read more

First of the dozens of "Top-50" BBQ joints where the crew wasn't over the top cool, engaged or otherwise spot on. A few of these folks looked like they wanted to hurt me/someone. Barely any interactions either. Must be a Hell's Kitchen going on in back or something, but it was pretty surprising compared to most of their other competitors on the list. I thought the menu was super cool. The brisket enchiladas were COVERED with melted, gooey, ooey cheese and smoked brisket chunks that make my mouth water just writing about it. The charro beans were almost a meal in their own way. I went with the slaw and could have probably passed. It was a bit too tangy for my tastes. read more

Go ahead and double those ! One of the best BBQ spots we have been too. So creative with the options!! Moneycat potatoes, Korean braised greens, and Moroccan carrots all ten stars. My curry wings, were the best smoked wings I have had. Brisket sandwich, yes get that. Do yourself a favor and ask for some hot red sauce. read more

Solid bbq joint with a modern take on Texas cowboy culture. I tried a half pound of brisket (moist) with a small side of fries. I thought the fries were just ok...not super crispy or hot, and I could have done with more of the seasoning. The brisket was tender and moist, gloriously fatty. The outside was heavily seasoned and it was fine on the brisket but another person in my group got the burnt ends and said that between the bark and the seasoning, it was overpowering. I like the choice of barbecue sauces, I went with the sweet one and liked it fine. Love that you can get booze here too. I got a cider (Austin eastciders) and it paired nicely with my meal. Overall a good bbq experience, just nothing that blew me away. read more
Visited here a couple of weeks ago. Turkey is very very Moist. Brisket is pretty good but lacking sad much bark as I would like to see. Menu has a variety of options. I ordered the Brussel sprouts which are really a fantastic side. They have a bit of an Asian zing to them. Many of the other sides all had pork in them. I ordered a biscuit + butter. The biscuit was placed in a plastic container with the butter and the container melted together. The butter also melted. The biscuit ended up being harder than I would like so I didn't eat it. This place has multiple locations. Two I believe. And the space is great for night out and bbq. read more

I wouldn't serve this. Turkey is dry, brisket is minimal and mealy, Everyone looks sad or angry and for $22, Barnaby's is right next door. I can't say I wasn't warned. Potatoes tasted old and fries tasted flashed. read more

Checked this place out on a Friday for lunch. It was busy. Fortunately, there is plenty of seating inside and out. Ordered burnt ends (tasty morsels of BBQ goodness), brisket (flavorful and tender... good without sauce), cracklings (crunchy deliciousness) and brussel sprouts (tender and full of flavor). Service was very friendly. I would come back. read more
This place has some amazing BBQ! I don't think Houston is ready for all this deliciousness. My friend Charles recommended I try this place out if I wanted some good BBQ and it sure did not disappoint. I ordered half a pound of moist brisket, and a small side of hogfat cornbread. The brisket had an absolutely amazing bark and was really tender. It went perfectly with the sweet bbq and white sauce they had at the condiment stand. The hogfat cornbread was perfectly moist with a delectable cinnamon butter on top. The drinks, condiments, and silverware are all self serve. This place is now my go-to bbq joint in Houston. I will not go anywhere else! read more

Incredible BBQ spot! My friend has raved about the loaded potato forever, and so when I came to town to visit this was our first stop. The people working there were so kind and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The sauces are AMAZING - try both the spiced vinegar and the mustard one!! 10/10. read more

Lots of parking at this location. My wife and I shared a half pound of sliced brisket, lots of flavor and tender. The pork ribs were 5 stars as well. We enjoyed a small portion of beans that were tasty. They have three different squeeze bottles of BBQ sauces of their own creation on every table, nice touch. They have a condiment station where you can load up on pickles, jalapenos slices, onions and pickled okra, yes please! They have an area where kids can play called the "pigpen". We met the family that owns the business and enjoyed visiting.....BBQ did come up a lot. They have real silverware and cloth napkins which I really like. They say you can always tell how good a place is by the line of people waiting to eat. I'll put it this way, the line was almost at the parking lot when we got here. My wife brought me here for Father's day. It was on my list of BBQ spots to try in Houston but I hadn't yet. They had a Father's day special going on and a snowball truck outside to add to the festivities. They gave all the Dads in line a free beer while waiting to order which was really nice! My wife stood in line while I waited outside with our kids. This is a typical bbq style restaurant establishment. The kind where you order/pay first and have your food brought to your table. This place has some unique details like the projector wall and a small play area outside for kids. Now to the consumptions. They have an extensive menu and kid's menu. They did serve me a free beer but unsure of what their alcohol selection was like. We had the Father's Day blowout platter that included ribs, sausage, brisket, burnt ends (ordered these as extra), turkey, corn bread with maple butter, and your choice of 2 sides (we got loaded mashed potatoes and red cabbage slaw) and a piece of banana cream cake. We also ordered my kids chicken nuggets, peanut butter & jelly sandwich and french fries. Here is a brief sub-review of everything we ate. - Ribs were delectable. Juicy with a sauce generally on the sour side. Maybe with a hint of mustard? Tender, flavorful and among some of the best in Houston. Not sure where to rank them just yet. - Brisket was done right. Charred, chewy outside with moist meat that was both fatty and lean. Also well done and delicious. - Sausage was spicy and tastes homemade. I am not sure exactly which kind we ordered. It was good but probably my least favorite of the meats. It was something left to be desired. Not sure if the sausage was just spicy and didn't have other pronounced flavors or what. Again, still good. - The carved turkey was succulent. Super flavorful. I am usually not a fan of carved turkey unless I cook it on Thanksgiving but this was tasty. - Burnt ends were tangy, sweet and charred to perfection. My only suggestion would be to make them more bite-sized. They are pretty big pieces but very good. - Loaded mashed potatoes were also yummy. They speak for themselves. The chopped green onions on top were a nice touch. - Red cabbage slaw was a no for me. It just tasted like slaw with vinegar. It didn't seem like much went into the recipe. - The cornbread was incredible. Do not skip the maple butter. Eating while hot is the way to go. You will enjoy this! - Banana Cream pie was tasty but nothing to write home about. It was just good but not excellent. All in all, you're going to get extremely large portions (we ate leftovers for the 3rd time and still have a bit left), it's a family friendly establishment, great location, friendly staff, and just overall a great experience. Brisket $15 for half lb - super moist. Some fat in the middle but not bad. Very good brisket. Sausage $10 for half lb- good pepper flavor, "spicy" but not really. Wish it had more of a snap but still good. Not sure if I'd get it again because nothing special. Pimento Mac & cheese $5 small - creamy shells. We're suckers for Mac. Sweet and spicy sprouts $5 small - we love fried or roasted Brussels sprouts, and these didn't disappoint. Enjoyed the free pickled veggies (jalapeños, red onions, pickles, okra). Not sure if they offer free bread bc we didn't ask or see any. read more

I was excited to try this BBQ joint not to far from my office. My friend and I ordered some sausage, brisket, ribs, brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and potatoes. This feast for two ended up costing about $70, though we did have some leftovers. The brisket was dry and kinda bland. The sausage also lacked much flavor. The ribs were the best of the meat, assuming you like them wet, which I do. My friend was less impressed. Overall the meats were average in quality and I'd rather pay a bit more for better. The sizes were better. The sprouts were my favorite, the Mac and cheese was alright and the potatoes were disappointing. My friend would rate them in reverse order and thought the sides were good overall. We both agreed that the best thing about this place was the complementary sweet and spicy pickles. I might go back for just ribs and pickles, or to try the burger and cornbread. read more
