This process was not for the faint of heart, and took a great deal of effort and attention to detail, and I know was very demanding at times in regards to paperwork- but this incredible team made it happen. Dr. Upchurch has been seeing Grendel for years since we first adopted him several years ago, maybe 8 years? She's seen him through tooth extractions, dental work, dietary changes, and most recently, a surgery to remove a suspicious lump on his leg. The lump turned out to be nothing to worry about and Dr. Upchurch took great care of Grendel and his very worried pet parents. G is indignant but recovering well. He was very clearly not in any pain after we brought him home and aside from not being thrilled about wearing a floppy cone of shame for a few days, he's barely noticed anything happened. Previous veterinarian, Sabino Canyon veterinarian, couldn't seem to get a grasp on handling my cat. He's not a tiger, he's just a Siamese. But Dr. Upchurch handled him with ease and didn't even asked me to medicate him, as Sabino Canyon did. I was very impressed with her. Ironically after talking with friends, they all like their cats there. Great veterinarian. Highly suggest. Especially if you have cats and no dogs. Then you really need a vet that understands felines. Other vets seem to have more of a grasp on dogs. In my experience. Not sure if that's just because dogs used to be the number one household animals. But since then, we all know cats are in the lead. read more

This is the best cat vet in all of Tucson. Dr. Upchurch is so personable and always remembers my cats. They are easy to reach and it is very convenient they have hours on Saturday. I brought one of my cats here for a checkup and for a suspicious lump (which turned out to be nothing). Dr. Upchurch was so kind to the cat, talking to it and making sure it was comfortable before doing anything with the exam. She took her time and explained a ton of stuff about cat health in general, as well as what she was examining, without talking down at all. It was a very nice improvement from the chain vet clinic we went to last time. The visit didn't feel rushed even though she was clearly busy in the clinic. I also appreciate that she didn't push any unnecessary drugs or procedures. The bill for a checkup, rabies and HCP (3 year vaccines) was $105. Pretty reasonable-plus it supports a local business. read more

After being a loyal customer of the vet for over 18 years with good and bad experiences, this last one took the cake. Our 19 year old cat had finally hit the wall and it was about time to put him to sleep. He was just way to old, weak, and frail. So we called the vet and they said that we had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. After a family friend called the vet persoanlly we where able to get him in that day we tried to get some fluids in to see if he would improve over night. The vet said call if it didn't improve. Well over the next 12 hours it got dramatically worse and we knew it was time. We call the vet first thing in the morning because he was in pain and struggling bad. The said we would have yo wait till the end of the day at 5 pm. No remorse, not I am sorry, no thing. We had been here for so many years and thats how they treated us and our pet. That is absolutely ridiculous and just wrong!!! We went to another vet, and had him put down peacefully within 15 min of showing up there. After 18 years they could even make an appointment for 15 min at the end of his life. This place can go to hell. If you want a vet with no sympathy and onmy care about money, go there. read more

We moved to a new house and decided we wanted a new vet for our pets as well. We took out cat here because of a possible urinary issue and while luckily our cat is just fine, we are glad to have found such a great vet for our cats. The vet answered tons of questions and provided us with samples and copies of all kinds of studies and reports. It was obvious she loves cats and it was nice to feel like she was really there to help. She was due for a cut (she's long haired) and we wanted to check on a previous UTI condition. My husband dropped her off in the morning and I was able to pick her up in the early afternoon. My 18 year old cat was in need of a check-up. Previously, my cat would lose his mind at the vet's. Howling, hissing, growling and yowling. Going to the vet could have him hiding under the couch for DAYS. Here? He hardly put up a fuss. The worst part for HIM was having blood drawn, and that was over before he even knew what had happened. The vet shaved his back leg in about an inch square, drew the blood, and my cat was as surprised as I was. The vet was very, very helpful and knowledgeable. She was very thorough, pointing out old injuries and scars that I hadn't even mentioned (one, a scar on his inner eye-lid, I didn't even know about! And I've owned him for 18 years!) She also explained to me why certain tests were a good idea, and why other things should be placed on the back shelf for now. Having ordered some bloodwork (old cat, kidneys+), I expected the bill to be pretty steep. I was shocked when it was only $150, we're getting a lot of tests done! Dr. Upchurch may be the best and kindest vet in Tucson. When we were told by another clinic that our cat's heart murmur was worsening, we feared bad news along with an expensive visit, but neither proved to be the case. Dr. Upchurch spent over half an hour with us explaining how murmurs begin, the progression, and what to expect in the years ahead. She even brought in a textbook to show us photos. In our four years in Tucson, no one else has been this thorough. We were quite pleased that unnecessary blood work or x-rays weren't ordered, as had been suggested by other vet receptionists we had called. We were even more delighted that the bill was only $65. Dr. Upchurch has been our vet for around 20 years. She is exceptional and will spend the time to thoroughly explain things and educate you. She managed the care of our 19- and 20-year old sibling kitties who had a combination of cardiac, renal, and thyroid issues and eventually crossed the rainbow bridge. She managed the care of our kitty who developed multiple myeloma and crossed the rainbow bridge at 10 yrs of age. She is currently managing the care of our 6 year old kitty who had to have 2 femoral head ostectomies, 3 months apart, and now has idiopathic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy --- poor kitty has bad genes, but he is doing so well all things considered! We also have a healthy cat who is doing well and trust her with her as well! She is a small, single-vet practice who doesn't overbook her appointments and spends quality time with you during your visit! Because of this, I can imagine that it's harder to get in to see her, but well worth it! read more

My parents recommended Dr. Upchurch based on previous experience and I was in need of a local vet. I was surprised to get a next day appointment for a basic checkup and yearly shots. Dr. Upchurch gave my cat 3 year shots (as opposed to annual) on a Friday and he began vomiting on Saturday and stopped eating and drinking water on Sunday. We were extremely worried because he is quite a petite little guy and also the most food motivated cat I have ever known. I took him back to Feline Limited on Monday morning and Dr. Upchurch administered fluids and anti-vomit meds and told me to call later to give an update (because she said she cares so deeply for her patients that she can't sleep if she is worried). When I called to tell her that he wasn't any better and hadn't even used the litter box in days, the receptionist would not put me through to Dr. Upchurch...after putting me on hold to speak to her, she told me to call back in the morning. My cat was sicker than he has ever been and we truly thought he might die that night. When I called back in the morning, Dr. Upchurch refused to speak to me again and the receptionist suggested I go somewhere else for help... Not only did Dr. Upchurch not try to help my poor baby after he reacted to the vaccines, she refused to speak to me and didn't even have the decency to call and check on his status. The reason for my one star is that the receptionist was really sweet and just in a bad position. While I was in the exam room the second time, I heard Dr. Upchurch yelling at her staff and speaking to them so rudely, I decided not to use her again. Go to the Cat Hospital of Tucson instead....Dr. Keyes is the most honest, thorough vet we have ever encountered!!!!! read more

I would like to give 4/5 stars. Dr. Upchurch is a really nice and considerate vet, but front desk person is not very friendly. After vaccination there, my cat had some bad reactions. It's heartbreaking to see her suffered. We called the clinic, but the front desk person let me hold and wait her to call back. I waited for 30mins and she didn't call back. Then I called them again and tried to explain my cat's situation. The front desk person told me this was an unexceptional trouble situation and I should go to other emergency hospitals as they would be closed in hour. Because I live very close to the clinic, I decided to go and ask Dr. Upchurch. Dr. Upchurch is a really experienced vet. She gave my cat a careful and thorough exam and fed her a pill. She told me my cat is sensitive to vaccine and needs additional medical care for vaccination. My cat fully recovered in the next day! I really appreciate Dr. Upchurch's help! The only disappointing thing is the attitude of the front desk person. It's not good to send us to another hospital without even taking a look of my cat. read more

Dr. Upchurch and her staff are top-notch. They're all extreme cat lovers and treat the cats with expertise and great compassion. They take the time to explain everything to the owners -- and talk a lot to the cats. The no-dogs policy makes the experience of going to the vet much easier for the cats (and owners). We have more than five years of experience with this clinic, especially during the past six months since one of our cats developed kidney disease. We don't know how long he's going to be with us, but he's been enjoying a very good quality of life since symptoms developed, thanks to Dr. Upchurch, Stella, Natalie and Jenna. He has to go in for fluid injections once to twice per week, and one of the many good things about the clinic is that they can do this seven days a week (limited but convenient hours on weekends). Sundays are best for us and our cat because it's a much quicker drive. We don't live very nearby, but the drive is worth it. I wouldn't go to any other vet for our cats unless there were an emergency. Highly recommended! read more

Dr. Upchurch has been our vet for at least 12 years. We live on a ranch 80 miles from her office. She saved the life of a cat that had been attacked by a coyote, "fixed" all of our Desert cats who adopted us, diagnosed Ping's Valley Fever, and now is working with our cats and their thyroid disease. We have had up to 12 cats(not by choice) and she has been great with all of them. Not one of them panics when we go to her office. My husband and I both love to walk in her office and see the kitties waiting for adoption in the lobby. They are all happy, healthy and playful! They are cat people, through and through with a wealth of information about cats in general and your cat in particular. I brought my cat in at an unfortunate time in her life as she was diagnosed with mammary cancer shortly after her initial visit. Dr. Upchurch and the staff offered honest, affordable, compassionate care for both me and my kitty. Truthfully, I needed way more reassurance and comforting than my cat probably did and Dr. Upchurch was amazing and patient in explaining all of our options in a practical, accessible way that never pressured me or made me feel judged. She and the Feline Ltd. staff also provided the most wonderful and sensitive end of life care services imaginable. Anyone who's ever lost a pet knows how heartbreaking the decision to euthanize can be but Dr. Upchurch made the whole process as humane and I believe, as painless as possible for both of us after weeks of stellar treatment and care. We went to Dr. Upchurch to get a 2nd opinion re: some long term illnesses our kitty has. She was very nice but based on research and information from specialists it seems that she is utilizing protocols for treatment that are "old" and no longer considered best practice. We also had a very bad experience with her front office person who was very rude to both my husband and I and snapped at us when we asked for clarification and when we called wanting to talk to the Dr. about recent developments. We never did get to speak with the doctor despite the fact that we had some significant medical needs at the time. We will no longer visit this vet as a result of these 2 issues. read more

I first took my kitty to see Dr. Upchurch 7 years ago due to concerns about blood in her urine. Since then, her urinary issues have stabilized, she developed and was treated for allergies, her weight is now under control and her developing thyroid issues are being managed. I feel she has recieved excellent care and Dr. Upchurch has been competent and thorough. Aside from the quality of care, what won me over was her ability to connect with my cat, to understand her behavior. I have a very, very anxious kitty who doesn't like new sounds, smells, people or really any kind of change. The doctor was so gentle and understanding with my cat, recognizing that the trauma that going to a vet office can involve. I completely trusted her with my sensitive kitty. The pricing is on the upper end of normal, but completely justified when you consider the quality of care. I felt involved in every decision that was made with regard to testing and treatment, Dr. Upchurch always presented options along with the pros and cons of each one. Another reviewer mentioned the receptionists' attitude- there used to be a staff member who was a bit off-putting but I don't think she works there anymore.
