In 2018 I had my '98 Nissan Maxima towed and dropped off because there was some electrical problem and it wouldn't start. Ted fixed it, charged me $250, and it started up in the parking lot of Fernley Tire but then died again before we left! He kept it for 3 days after that and never found the reason it wouldn't start but promptly gave me back the $250. He said he had spent hours on it but it had become a "personal issue" and was not going to charge me any more than the original $250. All of this mumbo-jumbo about Ted being dishonest is not true. Ted's the MOST honest I've ever dealt with.

My husband suggested that I check with Reno Vulcanizing to see if they could perform some of the services. I thought that was a great idea so I made an appointment for a brake fluid flush. I took it in this morning and saw Markus. He was very knowledgeable and couldn't have been nicer. He asked me how I knew I needed to have the brake fluid replaced. I told him that the other shop had recommended it. Before I left, he suggested we go check the fluid. He took a sample of it from the engine, said it was the right color, didn't look dirty and told me that based on the mileage since it was last changed, that it didn't need to be replaced today. I appreciate his honesty and his knowledge. He jokingly told me to save my money. Because of his honesty, integrity, knowledge, and excellent customer service skills, I'm certainly going to take all my cars to Reno Vulcanizing for all future services.

Their prices are incredibly fair and they're not going to talk you into stuff you don't need. I went to another place in town that told me I needed $1500 in maintenance and then when I asked again two months later, someone at the same shop told me I needed $400 in routine maintenance. I came here for an oil change and told them that if they noticed anything they thought needed a tune up - I was game as I was about to make a big cross country trip. They came back and said everything looked great. I ran through the list from the first quote I had and they eased my mind. They let me know that they thought all of that was unnecessary and didn't make sense given the past maintenance and state of the vehicle. It was so nice to feel like I was dealing with honest humans. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for routine or necessary maintenance!

I called to inquire on maintenance service for my Lexus-(that is at the Lexus dealer getting an oil change).... I was expecting to leave a voicemail, but they answered the phone... Nice! Very helpful and casual.. he even said they could just look to see if I need my serpentine belt needs to be replaced on the Lexus.. Since I am having the oil change there, I scheduled for the 4runner to get an oil change.. for next week. We discovered an oil leak…read more The dealer wanted to charge us the price of a new (used) car to fix it so we went to an independent shop. They wanted to charge us half of a new car to fix it. Called Leo at Preferred auto and he explained why the cost can be higher and then quoted me something much more reasonable. We ended up having his shop fix the oil leak and pretty much do a 100K service, all under the price quoted by the second shop we tried. I appreciated the honesty and the hard work. Our old Subaru is driving great. Preferred auto has a customer for life.
