My favorite menu item is the sweet potato waffle with a side of sausage. The waffle is executed perfectly with just the right amount of crunch and sweet potato goodness. Overall I prefer to eat breakfast here. Our last visit I tried the fried pork chops with county potatoes and eggs. And now this is my second favorite menu item here! The crunchy fried batter is seasoned nicely and goes well with the brown gravy. The little cubes of potato's have just the right amount of crunch versus softness inside. The chicken and waffles are really good. Chicken is tender, juicy with a flavorful crunchy outside. I prefer the sweet potato waffles because well they are just phenomenal. Nothing wrong with the regular ones mind you. I just got spoiled with the sweet potato version. They have plenty of parking available and outside seating too. Could not take$13 lunch specials out so i got the breast and waffle my husbnd got greens sweet potatoes and grilled catfish. Since we ordered through Door Dash, we didn't have the opportunity to have them correct it like we could have if we were in the restaurant. Shouldn't matter though. The menu had many tasty options, and we chose among the Lunch Box specials. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs lunch special and enjoyed the flavors and perfectly tender meat of the ribs. The coleslaw was okay, but a bit too tart and overdressed. I also overlooked the missing fries until after I finished my meal. I hope to be aware of that next time since they were part of the lunch box special. The cornbread was delicious; two pieces were given to each person at our table. The others in our party also enjoyed the food they ordered. The service was kind and attentive, even though we sat outside. There's plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside the door. That cabbage is amazing we all agree. Beef ribs fit for a Flintstone. While waiting I had the perfect Cadillac margarita. And there's more. The half chicken is perfect and better than than half chicken from your previous favorite. The mac & cheese is the best that can be made. The yams are perfect like someone made them for a holiday. The only thing less than perfect is the pulled chicken which is not very well pulled and a bit dry. I would consider this one of the best places you could possibly get comfort food. Came here on Juneteenth. Lots of love being shown by the community this day. Getting a seat was difficult. I wanted to sit outside so we waited 15 minutes to get it wiped down and ready for us. They must've been understaffed because it did take awhile to get served but it was all good. Came around 2pm and it was still the lunch time special which was 12 dollars for a main, a couple of cornbreads, and a side. With additional sides costing 3 extra dollars. I think that was a dope box. It filled me up but didn't stuff me up which is perfect. I went with the Mac n cheese sides and candied yams. The yams were great. The Mac n cheese did the job but wasn't the star of the show. I paired well with the bbq rib tips which was juicy and had a nice amount of fat on it. My homeboy who came with had the St. Louis ribs and cleaned his plate. He had it with hoppin john which is a mix of rice, Black eyed peas, and pork. Come thru and grab yourself a plate. I had a craving for baby back ribs and was disappointed that they were out. The server suggested pork short ribs, close enough! Delicious, sticky sweet BBQ sauce was not too sweet. Very generous portions of short ribs, tri-tip and fried chicken. We all enjoyed the complementary cornbread muffins and the sides. They seemed to be doing a healthy take-out business as well as table service. They do not serve alcoholic drinks. Stuff happens I've ordered there multiple times and it's been pretty good. It will scratch your bbq itch for sure. My friend went to the counter after a 10 minute wait time. People were leaving and finally Terrence walked by. I asked him if he had any idea how long a wait we would have. We knew it could be awhile but fresh delicious food takes awhile! During the time we waited he brought us our water, biscuits and Chardonnay. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. My son suggested it as he usually comes with his dad. He said they share the sampler platter so that's what we did. They were out of baby back ribs, collard greens and candied yams that day which was disappointing as I wanted to try the candied yams or maybe the collard greens. We ended up getting the St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, Tri tip and brisket with 2 orders of mac, sweet potato fries and potato salad. All of the meats were tender, flavorful and good quality. I did want a little more sauce but my son didn't ask for any too the end of the meal so if you think you want it saucy ask for more ahead of time. Sides were great too. I don't prefer a yellow potato salad with lots of pickles but I saw the photos so I knew what I was getting into sweet potato fries and mac were great. My grandpa got the brisket sandwich with regular fries and I didn't care for the regular fries. They are what places call "seasoned" fries with that particular crust on the outside. FYI each meals comes with 2 cornbread muffins which are super tasty and I love that the butter wasn't served cold. Service was excellent and I'd love to come back for the Sunday brunch. read more

I'll start by saying we love the food here. Fabulous every time. However, the service was honestly pretty lousy. It was a Wednesday night, a few tables but nothing out of control. I've seen it much busier on the weekend. I only saw 2 servers the entire time, a man and a woman. I'll try to keep it short because honestly, we didn't have enough interaction to say much about. It took at least 10 minutes to even get out drinks ordered, the waiter seemed a little irritated with us, at least that's how I felt and commented to my partner. It wasn't until we ordered fried green tomatoes and he told us they weren't available right now that seemed to snap him back into a less intimidating mood. He was much friendlier after that although apparently he assumed i didn't want a refill of my empty iced tea that I sat at the edge of the table so it could be seen because neither he or the lady server who brought our food ever checked on us again until we were literally done eating and we asked for a box and the check at the same time because I was afraid we wouldn't see anyone again for another half hour. It most definitely affected his tip significantly, which is also something we rarely do. I will almost always leave 20% for even mediocre service but from the moment he told us to pick a table until the fried green tomatoes, I felt like we were annoying him by having even walked in the door. My boyfriend asked if I wanted to leave, that's how uncomfortable I felt. We weren't given any condiments or even asked if we needed any. My bf had to stop the lady after she brought our food to get ketchup and tartar sauce. It was just overall disappointing. We are certainly not a demanding couple and try not to bother with too many requests but they literally just put us there and then it felt like they grudgingly came to our table when they had to. It likely won't stop me from returning THIS TIME because the food is worth it, but if it has become their regular way of service, I'll have to definitely reconsider whether or not I want to feel like a nuisance at a place that I'm paying money to enjoy my meal and experience.
