Crab legs with cheesy potatoes & prime rib
    Avery W.

I loved my experience at the turtle club! First impression, the staff was so friendly and welcoming, our server gave us great recommendations for things to do locally. The crab was incredible. The price was shocking, but I understand the market price varies based on many factors. $240 was crazy... but I will say I can still remember the taste of the juicy sweet succulent crab even days later, one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. If you have the money, it's worth it. The salad bar was huge with so many delicious toppings. The ambiance is cozy and warm and everyone there seemed to be having a great time as well. The prime rib was good, not the best we have had, but solid. I'd go back for the crab but hopefully when market prices are better! I'll be thinking about that crab forever.

A good restaurant if you are looking to spurge. The king crab legs were sweet and meaty, but it's very pricey. The prime rib was cooked perfectly. The self serve salad bar had fresh ingredients to build yourself a really nice salad. Service was okay, can't say it meets the standard of a fancy expensive restaurant.

First, this is the place to have the Alaskan King Crab! They are amazingly big, sweet and moist. We couldn't finish an entire serving because there was so much crab meat! Plus the crab was absolutely delicious. This is the best place we have ever had King Crab, to include restaurants we tried in Anchorage. It is at market prices, so you may want to ask prices before ordering. For us it was pricey but it was absolutely worth it. We also had the prime rib and King Crab combo. The prime rib was also good, but we concentrated on trying to finish the crab. Next time we are just going with the crab because of the generous portion and it's delicious! Second, Linsey our server was awesome! She was super friendly, attentive and had great insights and conversations about the local area. The cool thing is that she was attentive and didn't over talk all night. If you have a special occasion to celebrate, the Turtle Club is a great place!

Fairbanks doesn't have that many restaurants, so we tried to choose a place with a lot of reviews and a high rating. Since we were in Alaska, we really wanted to try king crab and salmon. The restaurant looked like a simple local spot, so we assumed the prices would be reasonable. We ordered fish and chips, soup, and 1.5 lb of king crab. However, the king crab alone came out to $240. We were served three crab legs. The food itself was definitely delicious. The king crab was fresh and full of meat, and the fish in the fish and chips was also very fresh and tasty. However, it was probably the most expensive king crab we've ever had at any restaurant. Looking at other reviews, it seems like no one else paid as much as we did, which makes us wonder if we were overcharged. The menu did say "market price," though. The salad bar was not in great condition. The vegetables didn't seem very fresh, so you had to pick carefully. Overall, the food tasted good, Service was good , but it felt like the most expensive king crab in the world.

I have a hard time giving this spot more than 3 stars. because although the quality of the crab was great, is market price for 1.5 lbs Alaskan King Crab really $180 (Sept 2025)? The steak is definitely not up to par (I know it's hard to compete with Texas where steak quality is superb... I assume the price has to do with supply chain). The staff was also a solid 3.5 stars. No one was rude, but also not particularly friendly or attentive, and we went with dry glasses a couple of times. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fine. The locale is clean and the decor is part of its charm. All-in-all, if I had to do over, I may not have included this spot as one of our vacation dining destinations.

love the fact they are doing lunches now, 99% of the staff are nice to patrons, food is always awesome, great burgers at lunch, always good prime rib. The bar can be hard to talk to another person some night, and others it's fine. Always seems to be a happening place.

Lemme start by saying the food was mostly delish! We just moved to Alaska and everyone said we gotta try this place so we went yesterday for my birthday. It's a place u feel u should be dressing up because of the menu but actually jeans and a tshirt work just fine lol. We ordered the sautéed shrimp which was fantastic!!!! The king crab which was even more fantastic!! My daughter and I shared these and it was plenty for both of us. It came with a choice of sides so we got the baked potato and the cheesy potatoes which were both pretty good. Lance got the lobster combo and here is where the experience kind of took a turn for me even tho it was still pretty good the lobster was severely over cooked almost to the point it was kind of that mush. The steak was undercooked we asked for medium rare and it came very rare. And the rice pilaf was just kinda not good. It was unusually sweet but just kind of had a weird taste. The service was nice tho. And I guess I just kind of had an issue that when you order dessert they bring a tray with all 8 or 9 items they have which is great except they are plastic it's the real deal so for food safety they are bringing food out showing it to the table then whatever the guest doesn't pick they bring it back to the kitchen and then bring it out again for the next guest to look at. It's sooooo unsanitary from a food handlers perspective. Not sure how the manager thought this was something that would be considered a good idea but to each their own. All in all honesty it was a good experience just a few things unfortunately made it not an exceptional experience.

We had a great dinner at the Turtle Club. The restaurant was very nice and cozy. Just a short drive out of town. The service was very friendly and attentive. Every dinner menu item included a free run at the salad bar. The prime rib was so good everyone in my family loved it. And as tourists the Alaskan King Crab legs are a must try! We loved everything about this place and so glad we came.

Ample salad bar behind the partition. Soft lights and muted colors in the dining room.

A delicious spot for dinner where you can drop $15 for an all-you-can-eat salad bar or $200+ for 1&1/2 lbs of King Crab Legs and prime rib. The glasses of wine - with a large variety to choose from and many from Alaska- run between $9-12 a glass. The service is attentive, friendly, and fast, and the casual decor and atmosphere (it was 4 degrees Fahrenheit) made for a lovely laid back dining experience where you could take your time eating all the well-prepared food. The dining room was as lively as the bar scene, the latter had at least one tv and many sports fans. For salad or King Crab, I'd make this a local favorite.

Besides being a little out of Fairbanks with a dimly lit interior, the Turtle Club offers a simple menu focused on their prime rib. We had the turtle cut and halibut chunks. Both entrees were great. The prime rib is tender and juicy. The halibut chunks are lightly battered and are great with the homemade tartar sauce. The salad bar is well appointed with traditional salad making fare plus homemade potato and pasta salads. The service is solid. You aren't reliant on a single server with various servers bringing hot bread, drink refills, and checking to make sure everything is good.

Not a very good experience at all, this place is overrated, over priced, Queen size steak wasn't even grilled, looks like it was steamed, drowned with Au jus, rice pilaf was over cooked, salad bar looks like it was never checked for hours, alfalfa was all over the counter, grated cheese on ranch dressing the only good thing in my order was the bread. I wished I can say anything else positive! But I can't!

Prime rib and king crab combo dinner was fantastic. Had it with cheesy potatoes and they were yummy. Also enjoyed the crab cheese dip app. I also had the crab cakes and they were good but definitely spicy. The restaurant has over 1000 turtles, and the kids loved to look at them all. The salad bar was disappointing. Only had iceberg lettuce, no mixed greens and toppings left something to be desired. Service was great.

Back restaurant patio with view of the plastic dining chairs and the stage which is really an eyesore.

We really enjoyed the glass roof as the snow was just starting to melt. It was kind of cool like we were in a half melted igloo. I would definitely put it on my list if you are gluten-free.

Landed on the BLT with salmon. The BLT actually came with a croissant as the bread, so it made it very easy to eat. Lots of bacon and the salmon went really well with the sandwich. Fries here are great too! Staff here are great! Since we came here near closing time, they actually offered us some of their leftover soup since it would have been tossed out. Definitely hate wasting food, so that offer was accepted very quickly. I didn't realize until after leaving why Blue Roof Bistro has its name. It's because...the roof is blue heh. Either way, worth the visit.

This may be why our service was impacted. Our bartender, while super friendly and trying to do his best, was overwhelmed and had just started. Lots to learn. The dishes were all really well presented - that takes skill, in and of itself. While these weren't dishes I would come back for, it was a nice, quiet dinner to end a full day. And, don't overlook location - this is in Alaska, so you will pay more. That aside, nothing was spectacular but nothing was terrible enough to leave on the table as well. More on point seasoning would have breathed life into my jambalaya. My dinner mates had similar comments about the chicken pasta and taquitos. The French Dip went over well with my dad. What would I change to up the service and experience? Direct guests to the main dining room if service cannot be duplicated in the larger bar area. Maybe add another bartender to help out in the evenings, when it tended to be busier. Offer a limited drink menu and nothing more. This might increase the speed and also play to the strengths of the staff. For us, it took a long while to get our total drink order and mine never came, so I ended up ordering a local cider. Bring a chilled glass with the cider, friend. Our check took a while as well. The food came timely. So, again, the patterns looked to be with the staff manning the bar area. Really, an easy fix, if you think about it.

We had the churrasco steak and the halibut Cuban style. The steak sauce has a kick, while the halibut sauce was slightly creamy but also refreshing - olive and lime perhaps? I thought the halibut was overcooked at first but the bottom half was perfectly cooked, so it seem like just the seasoned top was cooked more so. They both came from vegetables and yellow rice that soaked up the sauces well. We also got the flan which is house-made. So good, even better than the entrees. It tasted so 'fresh', don't know how else to describe it. They also had the cheesecake that night and I wonder if that's housemade as well. We made a reservation for a larger group, yet the table wasn't ready when we arrived, and we ended up waiting much longer than expected. For a place that requires reservations, this was frustrating right from the start. The food was just okay--not terrible, but definitely not worth the price. Given our background and familiarity with Latin cuisine, we expected much more in terms of flavor and authenticity, especially considering the high cost of the dishes. The live music, which we were looking forward to, started about 30 minutes late. To make matters worse, when one of the band members didn't show up, the owner asked a member of our family--who happens to be a musician--to step in and play. Not only did this put us in an awkward position, but there was no acknowledgment or discount offered for his time, even though we had other plans to get to. Parking is also inconvenient, with only street parking or paid lot options available. The restaurant itself is very small, which does create a somewhat intimate atmosphere, but it also feels cramped for larger groups. While the owner comes across as friendly, it also felt like there was a strong focus on maximizing profit. There are multiple additional fees listed in very small print at the bottom of the menu--something that should be much more transparent or reconsidered altogether. Service overall was slow, and again, the pricing does not match the quality or experience provided. At this point, I wouldn't personally recommend this place unless there are significant improvements--better service, more consistent food quality, fairer pricing, clearer fee transparency, and better management of their live music arrangements.
