I finally got to try their 5 cheese pizza! 14" of gooey cheesy goodness! I've heard about their yummy pizzas from so many people and they were right! Thin crust, lots of cheese and the price wasn't too bad - $18.00. I went around 11:00am and my order took around 15 minutes. Pizza and lunch sandwiches are served from 11:00am, breakfast sandwiches are served till 10:30am. I've also tried their petite bacon and egg croissant breakfast sandwich and it is so good! They make everything fresh when you order it, so sometimes it may take a while, but it's really worth it. Their pastries are really ono also. Ahhhh how I miss the days in Europe where you would have a croissant for breakfast with a cup of coffee. The bakeries there were so different, having delicious pastries and breads available with good quality and being freshly made. Flash forward to now lol. Where it's hard to find a good fresh croissant! But Fendu def provides! What is a nice twist to these pastries is they incorporate local tropical fruits in certain goods. We got the chocolate croissant, lychee and fuji apple danish. All were so delicious! The chocolate croissant was nice and flakey, with just the right amount of chocolate to complement it. The lychee and fuji danishes were good as well, being flakey and having a fruit selection that maybe hard to find in other places in the world. What's nice too is that the standard size for their cup of coffee is very big, which is a good if your a big buff on coffee. L-O-V-E this place! Like a lot of reviews state their chocolate croissants are delicious. Pretty much everything here is delicious! Haven't had a treat that I didn't like here. I tried their biscuits for the first time today. I'm a BIG fan of biscuits with another local hotspot, but they ALWAYS sell out super fast and you have to go at a ridiculous hour to get them OR call ahead. ANYWAY, Fendu's biscuits are similarly superb and I was able to get some without going super early or calling ahead. WIN! WIN! WIN! I'll definitely be going back for more biscuits. Fendu is conveniently located in the Manoa Marketplace and has ample parking...at least the times I go there. Seating is limited and is outdoor only, so if it's busy, expect to take out only. They have about 5 tables (can't remember the exact number) and can fit maybe about 15 people. I hardly make it to this area because I live in Mililani. I came here once before and ordered the pastries and I really liked them and thought it was worth the price. Saturday was the first time I had something from their menu! My girlfriend ordered the turkey sandwich and I thought it was just going to be a ordinary sandwich! I was totally suprised by how big it was, how much meat they put in, and the type of bread they used. They put a lot of turkey meat; probably about 4 slices easy! I was also surprised they put bacon in the sandwich too! That really made me like the sandwich since I just love bacon! I also really liked the bread, the bread was moist and tasty! I love bread and this bread was good; good enough where I could just eat just the bread! Next thing on the list is to try their pizza! read more

Went to get lunch with the other half today, glad they were open! We got the curried chicken sandwich, classic pizza, a chocolate croissant, a trio of macarons (since I know their other pastry is good, why not try?) and some cranberry scones (always a hit). ....Okay, I admit it.... I went for the macarons before the other food was ready... TOTALLY NOT REGRETTING IT!! In my opinion, THESE are probably the best macarons I've had on the island to date! The first bite of the Valrhona dark chocolate macaron stopped me cold. Literally froze for a sec, thinking "Oh, WOW...." as I savored the taste and texture. The biscuit was tender, finely delicate and moist. The chocolate filling was richly flavored, not overly sweet, almost softly creamy in texture. I know now why there was only one left! (This is the kind of macaron I was craving to satisfy my craving!) The guava macaron was a perfect replication of a guava chiffon cake's lush, fruity essence, if a bit too sweet for me. Tender and moist with utterly no ambiguity of flavor. The strawberry macaron was like eating a strawberry-cream flavored treat from my childhood days. I was peeking inside, looking for strawberry preserves and sweet cream! All of the macarons were tender, moist on the inside, well flavored, and utterly enjoyable. Next time, I'll brew some good coffee to go with these gems. #WINNING The lunch selections were well-executed, and portioned generously for the price. The curried chicken sandwich is lightly touched with coconut cream and dried currants, lending a sweeter taste to the chicken. Maybe add a bit more of minced onion and celery for texture and robust flavor? Just a bit spare on the salt and pepper for me, but I think it's always better to add a bit yourself than have it be over-seasoned. The classic pizza had a nice, lighter feel to it. This is not like your conventional American pizza! Not abundantly saucy, it may come off as being dry, but the cheese helps evens things out. Perhaps a bit more fresh chopped basil on top would be nice, along with olive oil brushed on the crust before serving. Ok, we splurged for one more macaron - lemon. It was as tender and delicate as the rest we tried as our "appetizer". It reminded me of a too-sweet lemon meringue pie, as I was left wanting more tart lemon flavor to tame the sweetness, but it may be ok with some tea. The chocolate croissant was tender, buttery. Good chocolate inside the flavorful croissant dough. Next time I will toast it in the oven to crisp it up a bit. That should be delightful! Definitely going to try this place more! It might not be widely known but Fendu has some of the best pizza on island with excellent crust and hearty sauce. The Classic is my favorite especially with smoked turkey. The duck pizza is also good. This is primarily a bakery and all the breads are delicious along with all the pastries and sweets. It's all top quality European style and worth the price. Other specialty items are good, too, especially the chicken pot pie with taro and the curry shrimp soup. The counter help is always friendly and there's a bit of outdoor seating. Fendu Boulangerie is just ok now. Went here recently and picked up a chocolate croissant and double chocolate brownie. Prices went up and quality went down. Probably not going to go back in a while. Cashier girl is nice enough but should have given me a fresh chocolate croissant in the new batch instead of the leftover ones. The chocolate croissant tasted just ok, not fresh...the brownie tasted like they used a mix instead of from scratch. Hokulani Bakery has way better brownies. read more

Seeing that this place is still new, I'll be nice and give it 2 stars. Take that as you will. We tried their pizzas today and well...I was pretty disappointed. Garlic Shrimp Pizza - What garlic? There is no taste of garlic...even with the slices of garlic on top! What it mainly tastes like is the strips of bell pepper topping. Cilantro Chicken Pizza - Dry pieces of chicken breast with sprinkles (sparse) of green on top. I love cilantro and and I didn't taste any cilantro...and now I'm reading some other ingredients...I didn't taste any truffle oil or brie cheese...sigh. Hamakua Mushroom Mania - This is the only okay pizza because it lives up to it's name. It has mushrooms that you can taste. So yeah that's where it is. It's hard to find top-notch baked goods here in the islands, but Fendu has proven to be a consistently reliable option. It's a little pricey, but generally worth it for the homemade goodness. I especially love the baguettes and cheese pizza -- an amazing blend of quality cheeses on a light and crispy crust. And the pastries are always good and buttery -- no holding back! Recently I went in to use a PlayHawaii voucher and had an even more amazing experience. The young man helping me offered great advice on the pastries and generously threw in a small scone since I had a few cents remaining. And guess what? The scone was FANTASTIC and I will definitely be back for more of those. That just goes to show how great service and quality products earn you loyal customers and increased business. I'm downgrading this place to three stars because their service has gotten even worse! I came in to pick some pastries up and a girl was sweeping and she didn't even look up when I walked in. No "hello", no glance up whatsoever. This isn't a very big place so I know she saw me walk in but maybe greeting customers isn't a part of her job description. She also swept her broom over my foot which I'm pretty sure was accidental but didn't offer any apology. The pastries are still as yummy as the last time I reviewed this place, but it seems as if the chef has trouble finding good help for the counter. It was especially frustrating because I went to Bakery Manoa to pick up bread and the girls that work there are bubbly and friendly which makes Fendu Boulangerie's counter help look super snobby. Between my boyfriend and I, we have tried several different paninis (Fendu breakfast panini,basil pesto chicken panini, grilled cheese). AND they were all delicious. The only thing about ordering a panini is how long it takes to get it. When you are hungry and waiting, it can be excruciating to wait. But they have a sign that let's you know it will take 12 minutes to make the panini. I would say that it takes longer than 12 minutes, but it is soooo worth it. The paninis range from about $7.25 to 8.50. At first it seems like you are not getting much because they are packed in a small to-go-box. But after you eat it, you realize how much flavor and food they packed into that little box. read more

I love this place and have come here a number of times. It's conveniently placed in Manoa Market place. Their sandwiches and pizzas are made fresh. They'll take about 15min to make, but so worth the wait. I especially like their vege panini and chicken pesto panini. The pesto flavor is a little weak, but the goat cheese, tomatoes, and bacon help makes up for it. I also always end up buying a pastry or something to take home afterwards, too. The breads in the case are good, but are on the dense side. The scones look pretty small, but they're also on the dense side, so don't let their size fool you. I love love love love love Fendu. This is the closest thing to the delicious bread I had in big cities and even France. All of their breads are flavorful and the perfect texture - not too tough on the outside and soft in the middle. I used to buy a loaf regularly, but I can't convince the mister to eat it with me so I go on rare occasions. If you can get past their breads, make sure you try some of their other fare. The lilikoi cheescake (something or another) is DIVINE! The croissants and breakfast biscuits are just a perfect balance of sweet and savory for breakfast pastries. WOW! Dark Valrhona dome cake, its draped in dark chocolate ganache with little gold leaf speckles on top. It must be like 5 layers all of different flavors and textures, the bottom is a crisp watery cookie with nuts with layer of dark chocolate and the filling is a layer of moist sponge cake with an orange cream and a dark chocolate mousse surrounding it. I think it was $6, which to me is a really, really good price for the time this must have taken and for the quality ingredients, it's a little work of art!! After writing the review the other day, I was craving Fendu so badly, I went back -- during my lunch break at work, which I lost my parking for since I work in downtown, and sadly had to return to work after a food coma. There was a long line, which was good because it gave me a lot of time to decide what I wanted to eat. A lot of people were buying the Chicken Curry Salad sandwich, but I'm not a fan of curry so I decided to try the Sauteed Chicken Tenderloin sandwich. This place is officially going to make me gain 10 lbs. A breaded, seasoned piece of chicken was cooked up on to a piece of rustic bread (ciabatta) with sauteed onions, tomato, and mixed greens. F-N fantastic!! As I was leaving, a bunch of seniors were outside enjoying a variety of pizzas. They looked (and smelled) soooo good, for a split second I considered getting one, too. Taste- Definitely meets my standards and freshness and flavor. The blueberry danish was soft and sweet. The chocolate cake was light and is filled with chocolate moussy goodness (moussy isn't a word, but whatever.) Ambience- Well lit, and has a warm, cozy feel to it. The deserts are well presented in the showcase. Affordability- Great prices for great food. Nothing outlandish. Danishes are around $3, cake slices and tarts are around $5-$6. Whole cakes are reasonable as well. Presentation- It's almost too good to eat. The cakes glisten in their moistness, and the other deserts just pop. Service- Decent, but nothing to rave about.
