CASH ONLY. They are known for their bars $2.50 each. The lilikoi bars lack the tartness and the shortbread crust was a bit thick.

What's the point of having toppings or flavors when you can't even taste them? A co-worker brought boxes and boxes of scones from Sconees (anyone know why there's an extra "E"?) Bakery. I was an instant fan and had to make my way over to its bakery located in Kaimukī, across from Via Gelato, Duk Kee, and Hale Vietnam. Only metered parking nearby. Cash and check ONLY. No credit cards. No tap to pay. Sconees Bakery definitely looks and feels like an old school place, and has become one of a few business from the last century (1999) in Kaimuki. I've passed by it many times, but never tried, as I'm not much of a scones/dessert person. Inside is tight with everything displayed clearly. The lady who helped us was friendly and nice. Not sure if this was an off day or what, or we just got the unlucky ones, but all the scones we ordered all tasted like a plain scone. While the scone itself was good. Small, crumbly, buttery, rich, and crisp. It's almost biscuit-like. But I did not taste any apple, any apricot, or any blueberry and cream cheese. It seemed like there was only a few pieces or less on top of the scone while the middle was plain. One of my photos of the blueberry cream cheese looks like one square of cream cheese with a single blueberry next to it. Cornbread was okay. Light, crumbly, and not sweet. The Lilikoi Bar was all right. Tart, rich, and sweet. The Guava bar was better. Okay guava flavor, not too sweet, and rich. Overall, the scones wasn't as good as when my co-worker brought them. Not sure why the fruits were so scant and minuscule on all the scones. The bars were decent. Everything was a-okay. Can perhaps find better elsewhere. Or perhaps the next time my co-worker brings some, I'll check closely!

Love this local biz... It takes me back way before I can remember of the baked goods that brought to a meeting that I had and had to ask where it came from as it was just so delicious. Sconees Bakery is located on 12th Ave and it's a street that does have a bunch of metered parking though be careful as they do check on the regular as I've gotten tickets on more occasions that I'd like to admit and parking at either municipal is wonderfully priced and worth it. Walking into this tiny spot and the vibe is straight to the point with a couple of display case filled with various baked goods and first you see some custard pies along with guava and lemon bars which are refrigerated items and with other errands opted out for those items and decided to stick to the scones. Their mini scones are just so adorable though it's shaped more like a biscuits with it's circular shape versus triangular but gosh love that it came in five different flavors from chocolate chip, blueberry, apple, peach and apricot I decided on one of each and the shop owner talked me into the Blueberry Cream Cheese Scone which is the regular sized and why the heck not since I"m here. Loved these light and airy scones though honestly I couldn't tell which one was which with some but know that whoever got whatever flavors fell absolutely in love and know that I will be back. Thank you!

Support small, local businesses. Friendly neighborhood bakery. **Cash or Check only** Family loves the blueberry scones. Only the mini size $2.50 is currently made. I prefer the corner pieces of the lilikoi bars. TIP: Cut the cornbread horizontally in half & toast or pan fry in butter. You're welcome!

Sconees is a small, family run bakery that's been around for a good, long while. We can easily see why it's a local favorite. The family that runs it is lovely. (The kind -- and very pretty -- young lady who checked me out allowed me to use Venmo when I realized too late that they don't accept credit cards.) The pastries were absofreakinlutely fantastic. We got there right before closing and were happy to score some of the last few lilikoi and lemon bars. The bars were just the right balance of sweet and acidic for our tastes, made with a beautifully buttery cookie / shortbread like base and a very thin layer of soft, fluffy something (cake?) on top. Didn't get to try the scones, but those bars... I know I can make something similar at home, but... things do taste so much better when other people make them for you. And these bars are legitimately awesome. Go get these, kids.

Sconees Bakery is a small shop that offers a selection of scones, bars, and pies - We came here early, as we had heard that their scones and bars can sell out pretty quickly; we tried: +a blueberry cream cheese scone +a peach scone +a lemon bar +and, a guava bar The scones were okay, as they weren't too dry; it would have been great if we had a pat of butter or jam. The bars were pretty tasty, as they were very jammy and decadent - great with a cup of coffee or tea! Staff were friendly and efficient. Limited metered parking can be found in the area, and there is also a paid lot. +tasty bars +friendly service

Bring cash! No one can make better scones than this place!

This place has the monopoly on the best tasting scones! I had the blueberry cheesecake and the blueberry scone, and it's not the typical US dry blah scone--no! These are fluffy, tasty, and irresistible!!! 10/10 recommend--bring cash and be ready to be so happy with your choices!! PS--I got the brownie but it was not as good--stick with the scones!!!

What a little Gem. Found out about this place because I frequent the Yoga room with my cousin and she happened to stumble across this place and shared it with me. Tiny little bakery with so many great items. The gentleman that helped us was so nice and friendly. The bars run $2.25 a piece and are decent in size. We went with 6 of the Guava bars, 6 of the lilikoi bars and 6 of the lemon bars. The bars are soooo good! They aren't too sweet and the crust at the bottom of the bar is chewy yet crispy at the same time. I highly recommend stopping by this place if you're in the area to get a nice treat for yourself or possibly pick up some for a gathering or party. They do big orders but need some notice ahead of time. We also tried the blueberry scone and the white chocolate bar but they weren't my favorite, I would say to stick to the guava, lilikoi, and lemon and you won't be disappointed. Parking is available on the street and is metered or if you choose to park In the lots there is a fee as well.

A small local bakery that specializes in mini sized and regular sized scones. The scones come in many varieties such as chocolate chip, apricot, peach, blueberry and more. They also make brownies, pies, and fruit bars! Cash only here! Really nice owners. Help support local. The bakery is well lit and small in size. They also discount day old baked goods. But come in early to get some! Street parking. Food: 5/5 stars Ambiance: 3/5 stars service: 5/5 stars

Came here specifically to try the guava bar! I love guava and had to come try! Place is clean and offer a lot of other flavored bars, scones, cookies and brownies! Service was fast and friendly and we will definitely be back to try more!

Sconees Bakery is a cute little grab and go bakery in Kaimuki. The area has been expanding and growing in popularity but Cconees is classic and quick. The lilikoi bars are my favorite but all the bars are incredible. The scones are also a great size, moist on the inside, and not too sweet. This place is cash only and service is fast and friendly!

Every morning, without fail, people gathered outside waiting patiently for pastries. No flashy signs. No gimmicks. Just quiet consistency. That alone intrigued me. By the second day, my mind was made up. I'm an early riser, so the plan was simple: go on my usual morning run and arrive before the rush. Japanese culture and craftsmanship have long fascinated me. Through close friends with family roots tracing back to Japan, I've developed a deep appreciation for the culture -- the discipline, the rituals, the precision, and the respect for process. There's a beauty in the intentional pace at which things are done. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. This bakery embodied that philosophy perfectly. The space itself was small, modest, and aromatic. No overdesigned interiors. No influencer bait. Just the comforting smell of fresh bread and butter hanging in the air. Some bakeries hide behind elaborate architecture and presentation, but this place understood something more important: when the product is exceptional, the product becomes the attraction. The pastries ranged from playful and charming to elegant and refined. The Salt & Butter bread was an instant staple -- savory, warm, and impossibly light. The dough practically dissolved like air. Thankfully, nothing felt overly heavy, because I completely lost control of my ordering strategy. The Kobo Kuma -- a soft bear-shaped bun filled with homemade vanilla bean custard -- was perfection. Equal parts cute and comforting. The Cinnamon Roll was solid, but the Haupia pastry completely stole the show. For those unfamiliar, Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian coconut pudding found throughout Polynesia. The flavor here was subtle yet lingering, delicate without disappearing. The kind of flavor that quietly stays with you long after the last bite. Then came the Blueberry Danish -- beautiful, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I didn't even make it to the savory options this time, which honestly just gives me another reason to return. And I absolutely will -- whether back here in Hawaii or perhaps at one of their mainland locations in Los Angeles. Some places become popular because of hype. Others because of quality. This bakery earned its line.

Even though they mixed up the custard one, the other flavors were great. The service was faster at the main bakery. I learned that they also serve coffee so next time I'll head there and try the coffee too. Totally recommend going and trying all the flavors if you can. Heads up that there is no seating so prepare to pick up and go. Also, the parking lot is pretty small so I recommend parking in the Safeway parking lot across the street. I have been to several Malasada places in Hawaii but | love…read morethere's the best for the following reasons: 1. the size of the malasadas: some restaurants tend to make their Malasadas smaller and when places do this it ruins the overall texture and quality of it. The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

Everyone knows to go to Leonard's for freshly made malasadas, and the constant crowds there attest…read moreto their quality and variety (review: https://yelp.to/jaduiZfQRq). However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? I'm happy to see a local business thriving but I hope they can improve their customer flow. The baked goods looked as inviting as always but they seemed a day-old or something. The butter horn was hard and not flaky as I've come to expect and the chocolate of the Boston Creme donut wasn't creamy. They may wish to consider: 1, Clearly delineating the line for the restaurant from the bakery. It was super busy for both so there was a lot of confusion. 2. Perhaps placing the number machine for the bakery closer to the door? Tourists aren't familiar with the system so it leads to some unnecessary dissatisfaction. 3. The staff had to leave the counter to get coffee - hot or iced. The condiments for the coffee were on the showcase so people had to be in everyone's way to get their sugar and cream. In fact, if you were standing near the door you had to go through people waiting in line back into the establishment to get those items. But, with all this, the two ladies at the counter were remarkably composed and helpful.
