Fenton's Creamery is in the Nut Tree Plaza. They have an ice cream counter where you can get scoops to go. The counter s located immediately to the far left side of the building from either of the two front entrances. And there is a sit down restaurant serving up diner type food and of course ice cream. For lactose intolerant folks, I gotta tell ya, they have no dairy free ice cream but do have several sorbet flavors. The ice cream flavors are pretty extensive. Fenton's ice creamery dates back to 1894 based in Oakland, CA. The restaurant menu is equally extensive as well. But the food is just ok. On my last visit, I had fish n chips. It did don't taste fresh made. It also wasn't awful. Lactose intolerant me only eat here if folks that I'm dining with also want to indulge in ice cream. Folks tell me the ice cream is fantastic. The place is super busy on the weekends. Anticipate wait times during peak hours for a table. Plus during the busy time, the food can take a long hot minute to be prepared and served as well. Fentons no longer offer the hamburger sliders! It seems that though they were popular, they keep running out of buns! So we ordered a burger and split it!! Their burgers are delicious! Add the curly fries and ask for grilled onions and you have a fabulous meal before you eat the Ice cream! We took friends there who had never been to Fentons and they loved the area and Fentons. They plan returning with friends to go on the merry-go-round and train and then go to Fentons. I ordered my regular: Black and Tan, which I have ordered the last three decades. The Toasted Almond Ice Cream is my favorite and adding the whipped cream, fudge and caramel takes it to another level!! While commuting home from Napa, I insisted on introducing my partner to this beloved creamery and we stopped by on a late Sunday afternoon. For a walk-in table for two, we were quoted a 45 minute wait. Fortunately, there's an option to walk up and order ice cream; however, Fenton's offers full service and a food menu if you're hungry for more than just the scoops. I ordered a single scoop of the seasonal Ube in a cone, and my partner ordered a double scoop of strawberry cheesecake in a cone. Fenton's carries several seasonal specials in the case and staple flavors as well. I was able to sample the Ube before committing to it, and I was a huge fan of the sweet subtle flavor and creamy ice cream texture. Lots of parking. Close by to a great park for kids. Love the area right outside to hangout if just getting ice cream. This time we actually sat down for lunch. All the food was hot and fresh. Sunday funday. We took a drive to the famous Nut Tree in Vacaville. Fenton's is known for their ice cream but we were hungry so we ordered food as well. The wait was short for a table but the place was busy with families. The ambient is casual and family oriented. Our server was pleasant and attentive. My wife had the club sandwich and onion rings. The rings were awesome ! She said the sandwich was a bit bland. I ordered the shrimp po boy and chips. The shrimp was well cooked but lacked flavor from the tartar sauce (maybe too much mayo?) My wife and I stopped by for ice cream at around 5:30 PM on a weekday. There were hardly any customers at the time. In fact, I'm sure the employees outnumbered the customers. Even so, my wife was served her ice cream 4-5 minutes before I received mine. There were 3 employees just standing around the prep area talking. That's inexcusable. Then, after we requested the check, it took about 20 minutes to get the check and pay. The server didn't give me a paper receipt as I requested and rudely told me to be patient while he finished up with another customer. That was enough...we just got up and left without our receipt. Heading to a show in Fairfield, my dad and I stopped for dinner beforehand at Fenton's Creamery. This is one of those places that I have driven by more times than I can count and I've never stopped in. We went for dinner on a Friday night and we're promptly greeted and seated. Our server was very kind and attentive. They have a large variety of food options ranging from sandwiches and burgers to salads and more diner-type food. I decided to try their Philly cheesesteak while my dad ordered the crab sandwich. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable. The sandwiches were tasty. To finish things up, my dad ordered a classic hot fudge sundae while I ordered what I thought was the junior version of the black and tan sundae. We later discovered that they did not bring the smaller version of my sundae, but instead the full-size version - oh well! The ice cream was rich and decadent without being overly sweet. Ahh the classic Fenton's. We were surprised there's one in Vacaville so you know we stopped by after an all you can eat sushi buffet (yes we had room for dessert). This place is massive inside, but we opted for ice cream as takeout. Overall the ice cream was yummy and there were plenty of flavors to choose from. I got one of the dark chocolate flavors (forgot), my husband got the swiss chocolate, somebody got the worker's favorites that he recommended which was pistachio and I believe cherry, and forgot what else we got. The scoops were MASSIVE. I struggled to finish all of it! There was a long line and we waited for ~20min to get our ice cream fix. There was an even longer line behind us, and we felt bad as it was a group of 6 of us. Also there was only one guy working while we were in line. It felt like they needed at least 2 people to serve the customers. The guy who helped us not only got us our 4 ice cream cups/cones, but had to go to the back to make another special order for us, vanilla sundae with chocolate fudge (forgot the name). That took awhile. For a busy Saturday evening, they definitely need at least two people working that ice cream section. Overall the ice cream is very smooth, creamy, and hits the spot. read more

In high school we used to hang out at Fenton's in Piedmont/Oakland, so this branch brought back memories of fresh Crab Sandwiches and huge sundaes. Service was good once we were seated. Apparently the hostess didn't realize that the list extended to the flip side of the page and we waited longer than others. 92-year old Dad has been craving root beer floats for months. He was more than satisfied with his huge Fenton's float. My sister and I split a Crab Sandwich. Prices sure have increased since the 80s! The crab was tasty but not as good as our memories. Maybe it's the switch from Dungeness to stone crab. My sundae was amazing and I'm glad I got the "small" 1 scoop.
