Yum! I've been wanting to try The Morning Bun Cafe since I saw they opened. It's been several months now so I think all the soft opening kinks are worked out now. The parking lot is very small. It shares a lot with a couple other businesses like El Tejaban, Bounty Books, and a laundromat. We were greeted promptly. The interior is larger than expected. We arrived on Saturday. The wait time was about 10 minutes. The host took our number and gave us a call when a table was ready since we wanted to check out the bookstore. The menu looks like pretty standard American breakfast food (omelettes, French toast, etc). The portions are huge! We ordered the French toast, chai tea, and the avocado toast. The tea came out in a large glass mug. It had some foam on top. The chai was pretty good! They do not skimp on the food! The avocado toast had a lot of spring mix and came with two eggs. The eggs are cooked to your liking. The choices of potatoes are homestyle or hash browns. It was all very filling without being greasy. The French toast had around five slices of toast. Toppings are extra. It's appreciated they leave the syrup on the table for you to add to your preference. Each dish was around $18. But it was appropriate for the portion sizes. We gave The Morning Bun some time after their grand opening to try them out. From this mornings' experience, I can say that I'm a fan. The parking lot is small and is shared with neighboring businesses that have specified parking. We were lucky to find a spot up front 'cause soon after there was no other available parking. The moment we walked in, we were greeted and sat. We ordered their chai latte and a latte - they came out quick and tasted good. I like my chai to be heavier on the flavors so it was nice enough to have. For food, I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was delicious. The gravy was tasty and I added more pepper to bring more flavor to it. We also ordered the eggs benedict and that was so delicious that it was nearly gone before I was able to try it. I also ordered the cinnamon roll and it was airy and not too sweet! If you're looking for something that has more Cinnabon type consistency, this isn't it. It's good though and worth a try. Morning Bun is a new cafe that just opened up where Bar Lynn used to be. I know they offer both breakfast and lunch. Not so sure about dinner. I was there for lunch and I have to say they do somethings very well. They bake most of their items from scratch and I like that a lot. I sampled the Morning Bun and Cinamon Roll. Both were very good but the MB was better. Great crunchy texture with lots of sugar and cinamon goodness. In fact they bake their own breads as well. The only thing they don't bake is their English muffins. The em's are purchased from Model so that's a win there. I tried all three pictured items. The most tasty was the biscuits and gravy. Gravy was thick, rich and slightly peppery. I will definitely be back for that. I wasn't pleased with the hash brown as it was previously frozen and tasted as such. This was a delightful surprise. Vacaville is in desperate need for good breakfast options and this one hit the spot. I liked that the menu was concise and not overwhelming. Found this spot while thrifting and it looked tasty. Was greeted and seated immediately by friendly staff. The benches are a little wobbly and hard but noticed others had cushions. There's a huge tv inside for watching the things. I tried to be adventurous and got the country fried steak with gravy and eggs. It was fine. My friend got the chefs scramble and I didn't hear any complaints. My bf got the biscuits and gravy which I longed for. We split a cinnamon roll and it was super soft and goofy and warm. Maybe needed a dash more cinnamon. It was pretty quiet inside since we went off hours. The most surprising part were the prices. The country fried steak and eggs was 22$. The scramble was 20$ and the biscuits and gravy were 19$. Those are San Francisco prices! On the more positive side they did have a very clean and nice smelling bathroom. OK I don't take any joy in giving a two star review but I feel the owners need to hear my concerns. First of all you advertise fresh baked cinnamon and morning buns . My wife and I drove from Vallejo to shop at Winco and to try your restaurant. You served us yesterday's buns . Super disappointing. I had the SanFrancisco scramble which hardly had any meat in it and it was filled with soggy wet mushrooms. My wife had the chefs scramble which tasted off ( my wife had an upset stomach after eating ) The chicken sausage did not taste high quality like an Odell's sausage. The only highlight were the home fries and hash browns . Breakfast 2 scrambles two buns one coffee and a tea was close to 50 dollars. With tip I paid 60 dollars . This restaurant opened November 16th and there were only 4 pictures and a couple of reviews so I wanted to help reach the masses with my review. It's a small quaint restaurant with no frill just a wide variety of menu options. Lunch is served during breakfast also and if you'd like a mimosa with your meal it's not on the menu but it is on the board behind the counter along with the pastry option items. My husband and I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and an Arnold Palmer. That drink was perfectly executed by Mataius. He was also very welcoming when we got to our seat. For our meal we ordered The Works Burger and French Toast (double), with a side of over easy eggs, and sausage. The burger was SOOO good and cooked perfectly along with the sweet potato fries (although, the fries were a little cool when the meal came to the table. I took an egg from my plate and added it to the burger. My meal on the other hand arrived at my table like I ordered Tapas. First my eggs came to the table, a couple minutes later, my French toast came, and then a round Italian sausage. Now I have 3 small plates separated on a two person table and it was a little cold. I recommend making the food that takes the longest first then adding the quick to make parts in order, everything should be on the same plate. Sadly, French toast doesn't come in a breakfast meal, it's al la carte. I'd recommend the restaurant using breakfast sausage to the menu as an option because the fennel in the Italian was overpowering (it should be reserved for pasta dishes). The menu prices were quite whimsical also, usually you see $12.99 or $4.49, etc. here it's more like $19.76 and $17.67, etc. The cleanliness was ok as far as the dining area and bathrooms but you can plainly see the mess in the kitchen (overflowing trash and egg shells all over the floor). Raw Cinnamon rolls sitting on the back sink uncovered. There needs to be partitions where your guests can't see the secret behind the curtain like the Wizard of Oz. I'm hoping this review will give them ideas to improve on some of the issues so it can be a more popular establishment. read more

We tried the Salmon Scrambled and Eggs California with potatoes and hash browns. I'd love to have some onions and bells mixed in with the potatoes to lift it up a bit, but as is was decent. Hash browns were great. The salmon was good, but I ended up stealing more of the Eggs California, which is like a Benedict. So good. I'm not really a sandwich person, but I had the best sandwich ever today at this restaurant. It was a pesto chicken with mushrooms and it was absolutely delicious. I couldn't eat it all, but took the rest home and had it for dinner. It was still good. The sweet potato fries were delicious and I ate more than I would normally eat. Some of these reviews are crazy... if you have a gluten allergy why are you going to a BAKERY? If I had a nut allergy would I go to a peanut butter factory? Anyway... My boyfriend and I came on a Wednesday morning and were pleasantly surprised. As we were walking in we overheard folks talking about how good it was which was a good sign. Host and waitress were very polite and we received quick service. We ordered 2 egg dishes, a plate of French toast, and sourdough on the side. We liked the fried potatoes over the hash browns. Mocha was large and tasty. I appreciated that they kept the condiments refrigerated and off the tables, much more sanitary that way. Thought we'd give the cinnamon buns a try and I'm glad we did. They are big, with lots of cream cheese frosting. We brought them home and reheated them which made the frosting slide down the sides so the bun was completely covered. A taste of frosting in every bite.
