Cute little spot near my home. It's a small restaurant but there's a few seats outside. Food was tasty, service was superb & prices are decent. I'll definitely be back.

Avocado toast with eggs over easy and hash browns

Yum! I've been wanting to try The Morning Bun Cafe since I saw they opened. It's been several months now so I think all the soft opening kinks are worked out now. The parking lot is very small. It shares a lot with a couple other businesses like El Tejaban, Bounty Books, and a laundromat. We were greeted promptly. The interior is larger than expected. We arrived on Saturday. The wait time was about 10 minutes. The host took our number and gave us a call when a table was ready since we wanted to check out the bookstore. The menu looks like pretty standard American breakfast food (omelettes, French toast, etc). The portions are huge! We ordered the French toast, chai tea, and the avocado toast. The tea came out in a large glass mug. It had some foam on top. The chai was pretty good! They do not skimp on the food! The avocado toast had a lot of spring mix and came with two eggs. The eggs are cooked to your liking. The choices of potatoes are homestyle or hash browns. It was all very filling without being greasy. The French toast had around five slices of toast. Toppings are extra. It's appreciated they leave the syrup on the table for you to add to your preference. Each dish was around $18. But it was appropriate for the portion sizes. I would like to see the baked goods listed on the menu. I don't know if I missed them somehow. Next time I would like to try their cinnamon rolls or the morning bun.

We gave The Morning Bun some time after their grand opening to try them out. From this mornings' experience, I can say that I'm a fan. The parking lot is small and is shared with neighboring businesses that have specified parking. We were lucky to find a spot up front 'cause soon after there was no other available parking. The moment we walked in, we were greeted and sat. We ordered their chai latte and a latte - they came out quick and tasted good. I like my chai to be heavier on the flavors so it was nice enough to have. For food, I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was delicious. The gravy was tasty and I added more pepper to bring more flavor to it. We also ordered the eggs benedict and that was so delicious that it was nearly gone before I was able to try it. I also ordered the cinnamon roll and it was airy and not too sweet! If you're looking for something that has more Cinnabon type consistency, this isn't it. It's good though and worth a try. We'll be back to try their other items!

    Biscuits and Gravy

This was our first time visiting Morning Bun since they first opened. She got the Biscuits and Gravy which came with scrambled eggs and hash browns. The eggs were way overcooked and something with the biscuits and gravy wasn't agreeing with her taste buds. My breakfast was basic but not bad. We took home a cinnamon roll which people have raved about. The roll itself was very nice, but thought the frosting was a bit excessive. With so many other options for breakfast in town, I'd be hard-pressed to return in an instant.

Morning Bun is a new cafe that just opened up where Bar Lynn used to be. I know they offer both breakfast and lunch. Not so sure about dinner. I was there for lunch and I have to say they do somethings very well. They bake most of their items from scratch and I like that a lot. I sampled the Morning Bun and Cinamon Roll. Both were very good but the MB was better. Great crunchy texture with lots of sugar and cinamon goodness. In fact they bake their own breads as well. The only thing they don't bake is their English muffins. The em's are purchased from Model so that's a win there. I tried all three pictured items. The most tasty was the biscuits and gravy. Gravy was thick, rich and slightly peppery. I will definitely be back for that. I wasn't pleased with the hash brown as it was previously frozen and tasted as such. As this was the first week I am willing to come back to try again. I think they are still working out the new restaurant kinks.

Simple yet delicious Hearty Morning Breakfast

This isn't a chain restaurant, so don't expect a cookie-cutter experience--and that's exactly what makes it special. It's a locally owned place with charm, personality, and food that's made with heart. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cozy, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. If you're looking for a genuine neighborhood café with delicious homemade food and pastries, this is definitely worth a visit. Sweet little spot to catch up with friends or sit alone and enjoy a nice solo meal while sitting at the counter that gives you that old school good vibe feeling

This was a delightful surprise. Vacaville is in desperate need for good breakfast options and this one hit the spot. I liked that the menu was concise and not overwhelming. I was impressed by the speed they made our lattes and brought them out to us and they were yummy! Everyone who worked there was friendly and smiling. I ordered the cream cheese chive eggs and my husband got the Benedict which I forgot to take pictures of, but both meals were delicious. Hoping this place can consistently deliver good service and quality breakfast.

Cappocino, morning bun, chefs scramble with hashbrowns.

Staff was very welcoming, we really enjoyed the quick customer service. I had avocado toast and my husband got the scramble with hash browns. Both decently cooked and seasoned. Nothing extraordinary, but it was a very pleasant. However, the morning bun was DELICIOUS. Really light and airy and not too sweet. Will definitely come back for just the morning bun~

Stopped at this cute spot on out way to six flags. I got the cheeseburger and my bf for the chicken fried steak. Both were delicious and great portions for the price. The staff was very friendly as well

Found this spot while thrifting and it looked tasty. Was greeted and seated immediately by friendly staff. The benches are a little wobbly and hard but noticed others had cushions. There's a huge tv inside for watching the things. I tried to be adventurous and got the country fried steak with gravy and eggs. It was fine. My friend got the chefs scramble and I didn't hear any complaints. My bf got the biscuits and gravy which I longed for. We split a cinnamon roll and it was super soft and goofy and warm. Maybe needed a dash more cinnamon. It was pretty quiet inside since we went off hours. The most surprising part were the prices. The country fried steak and eggs was 22$. The scramble was 20$ and the biscuits and gravy were 19$. Those are San Francisco prices! On the more positive side they did have a very clean and nice smelling bathroom. Would probably stop in to grab a cinnamon roll but both worth a full meal.

Experience - 2/14/2026 It's Valentine's Day Saturday and we wanted to start the day off right. I love my ZzZ's time so naturally it was going to be a brunch spot. Cruised through my list of brunch spots I have on the radar and actually found this spot scrolling through something else. SPOT // 3 stars Tucked in a little strip mall between a liquor store and laundry mat. Parking is extremely limited so we ended up parking in the residential area close to the spot. Super small, but cozy and busy. We didn't wait long to be seated and we were pleasantly surprised that there was even room for us being that it was Valentine's Day. FOOD // 5 stars Chicken Fried Steak w.over easy eggs w. hash browns w. OJ Biscuits and Gravy The main dishes (Chicken Fried Steak and Biscuits and Gravy) were so so so good! We ate it ALL up, and I mean all. Gravy is sausage based, not too thick but just the right consistency. The gravy used on the Chicken Fried Steak is the same as the Gravy with the Biscuits. OJ was fresh and in a small (to me) glass. I made it worked though. SERVICE // 5 stars Wonderful service. Attentive and kept things going. Did not wait long for our food, despite the holiday and amount of peeps coming in and out. We will come back and try some other treats on the menu. I hear their morning buns and cinnamon rolls are off the hook so when I try them, I'll update my review. Get there and get fueled.

First time visit. Quaint little cafe that serves as a sit down restaurant and offers take out. The ambiance and lighting were a little dim and could use some softening. The employee was friendly and helpful but ordering was a little tricky. They do not have a display of the pastries so you are ordering sight unseen. They didn't have any recommendations so I just did a mix and match of muffins and of course their morning bun. The muffins were delicious-sweet,savory and creamy while the morning bun sadly was dry and unappetizing.....should they be called the morning muffin---perhaps. Prices were a bit on the high side. I'll try the breakfast items next time.

Biscuits and gravy w/ eggs and potatoes
    Damian Franco L.

Came to check this spot out and honestly it was good I got the biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs and house potatoes and a side of bacon I do recommend this dish the only thing I would speak on is I would like the gravy to have had a lil bit more sausage in it to give it that perfect amount of flavor from the sausage other than that it was bussin, my girl got the casserole and let me tell you that thang looking good!! I got the vanilla latte also it was koo I would get it again. But no complaints here very happy customer 9.5/10

Morning bun . Again they served us yesterday's buns . It was OK I left wishing we had eaten at Black Bear

The team is welcoming, genuinely knowledgeable, and always happy to chat through the tasting notes or offer recommendations when I can't decide between beans. You can tell they care just as much about helping people enjoy coffee as they do about making it. For my husband, the benchmark is espresso. He's always searching for a shot that's balanced, sweet, and expressive. It's been a surprisingly difficult thing to find, but somehow, Attalus nails it every single time. His go-to is a double shot over ice, and it's one of the few places we've found that is able to deliver consistently! As much as we love discovering new cafés, we're incredibly grateful to have a shop of this caliber so close to home. Attalus has easily earned a permanent spot in our regular rotation.

I think I wouldn't have minded if the matcha flavor was strong but it was pretty watered down and had a pale color :( Not sure if I'll come back because it's out of the way for me. Luckily the weather was perfect the day we went, so we grabbed a table outside and it ended up being the ideal way to enjoy the meal. We started with a Cuban café with condensed milk, and it was incredible. The coffee was bold and rich like a good Cuban espresso should be, and the condensed milk added the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. It was smooth, strong, and honestly one of the best cups of coffee I've had in a while. For food, she ordered the chilaquiles and I ordered the ropa vieja plate, and we also added an order of papa rellenas to share. The chilaquiles were easily the star of the show. The chips were perfectly coated in sauce without being soggy, and the sauce itself had a really unique flavor compared to the traditional chilaquiles I'm used to. It had a deeper, richer taste with just the right balance of spice and tang. Every bite was packed with flavor and it felt like a really thoughtful twist on the dish. The ropa vieja was just as impressive. The shredded beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, clearly slow-cooked because it just fell apart with each bite. The seasoning was spot on -- savory, slightly tomatoey, and really comforting. It came with black beans and rice, and even though I'm usually not a big fan of black beans, these were excellent. They had a lot of flavor and a great texture, not watery or bland like they sometimes can be. The only thing that didn't quite land for me was the papa rellenas. They were well made, but I was expecting something with more of an empanada-like texture or a crispier outer bite. Instead, it was much more potato-forward, which made it a little heavier than I was hoping for. Service was amazing! Kind friendly staff Overall though, the food was flavorful, the coffee was amazing, and the relaxed outdoor seating made it a really enjoyable meal. The menu is small, easy to read and has almost everything we'd want for that time of day - including the drinks. The food is a 'hit' or 'miss'. Here's my review: Drinks: Both the Arnold Palmer and the Cadillac Margarita were good. My lemonade tea wasn't overly sweet and I could definitely taste the lemonade. The pitcher of Cadillac Margarita looks innocent but may give someone a slow and powerful buzz if you're not used to the drink. (4.75 of 5) Charcuterie: This a complete appetizer board. Overall, there were some hits and misses, however, we agreed this is a well thought out appetizer board. (4 of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: This is the best dish here, featuring deeply caramelized, dark golden-brown edges and a nutty, earthy flavor. Their Crispy Brussels Sprouts is also the best we've had. The seasoning is on-point, allowing the texture to show off its crackling, crunchy bite on the outside, contrasted by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. (5 of 5) Seasonal Tacos: "Oh WOW!" The explosion of spicy and tangy flavours balanced by contrasting textures makes this dish "pop". (4.75 of 5) Beet Salad: The colours were lovely, but this beet salad was over-salted. The vibrant dish featuring beets as the main ingredient, balances the earthy sweetness with contrasting textures and flavours. If this wasn't too salty, it would have been more refreshing. (3.75 of 5) Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse (halibut, jasmine rice, spinach, snap pea, pickled shiitake mushroom, coconut lime broth, basil oil): Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bouillabaisse means seafood. The only seafood we noticed were chunks of halibut, which were delicious. This dish looks and tastes more like an elevated Thai soup dish that cost too much. (3.5 of 5) After walking in, we decided to sit outdoors because of the loud music that was playing. We're glad we did. The overhang on the veranda was well positioned with plants and flowers softening the cement walkway. The weather was pleasant - with a gentle breeze blowing down the corridor. Parking is easy if you arrive early enough. One last note: Back Door Bistro in Vacaville was featured on "Check, Please! Bay Area"

There is now a Tesla Supercharger so navigate to that instead of the cafe so that your Tesla preconditions while you enjoy your morning. They no longer support their own app and have turned the keys over to Square to create an account to make it easier to pay and reorder. The ready times you get in the app are later than it's usually ready so I recommend giving them 10-20 minutes lead time. Here's my rating of the variety of foods and drinks I've tried. Undertow - 8 - Fun twist on a cortado as the half and half is cold and they add a splash of vanilla. The hot espresso is carefully floated on top of the milk so that when you drink you feel the cold "underflow" of vanilla milk. Cortado- 8 - Small but powerful sip of espresso. I prefer it with half and half and a touch of sugar over Journey's method but it is a tasty sip. Lavender Latte - -10 - the best version of a lavender latte you'll ever have. Cherry Blossom Latte - 9 - The cherry syrup is very forward but blends nicely into the latte which gives it light finish. The coffee does get a touch lost so add an extra shot. Citrus Cocoa Latte - 9 - The orange syrup is prevalent throughout the drink but the cocoa starts to stand up more the last half of the drink. I don't prefer chocolate drinks but this doesn't taste like a mocha at all. Very well done Journey!!! Veggie n Egg Breakfast Wrap - 7 - Light and flavorful but needs some pop from another ingredient. I recommend using the Tapatio hit sauce to elevate it above our 7 rating for those that want some pop of flavor and can handle spice. Breakfast Hand Pie - 6 - The pastry wasn't crispy but it did have some crispy seeds on it to save the texture, a bit gummy for my liking. The filling was also creamy with more cheese than needed (and I love cheese). Although good, I wouldn't get it again because the flavor of the filling fell flat. First Class Wrap - 10 - If you can handle spice, the chipotle sauce is amazing amidst the variety of ingredients. This is my go-to and everybody I introduce it to gets it as well. Every business partner I've introduced this right off the freeway coffee stop has loved and kept as their own. It's a no brainer if you're headed down I-80.
