I don't usually leave reviews! But this place is outstanding! We started with the Cotisiera for Two which included shrimp, stuffed portabello, clams ,fried calamari and eggplant rollitini. It was DELICIOUS. For main, I got the rigatoni siciliana and my husband got the ravioli ferdi, both were amazing!! I wish we took pictures but we scarfed down the food so quick. Service was wonderful, Aida made us feel so welcomed. The overall price was pretty inexpensive as well compared to other Italian places in the village. Came here this past Sunday and absolutely loved everything. I only got to try some of the apps, namely the fritto misto and the crespelle fiorentina (pan roasted eggplant stuffed with ricotta) but they were both delicious. Since Ferdi opened a few months, I go there at least once a week. My colleagues and I travel internationally for work, and we always try to hit the best restaurants with local cuisine. One of my colleagues is a branzino expert - ordering it in some of the best seafood restaurants in the world. A few months back we were in Mykonos, Greece and, he of course ordered the bronzino - declaring "This is awesome." So when I suggested that we go to Ferdi's for bronzino, he was very skeptical, but willing to try. The bronzino was amazing - served with king crab and shellfish in a delicious tomato sauce. When he first saw it, he said "Tomato sauce on bronzino!" But after a few bites, he also rated it as one of his top bronzino restaurants. This is how an Italian restaurant should be - family owned and run by Italians with a love of people, culture, and great food. read more

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had in New York City. The food was fantastic- we had chicken parm and chicken Milanese and it was prepared the traditional, classic, Italian way. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made us feel so special by surprising us with a candle and birthday song as well as the table side gelato. Watching our server make the gelato was mesmerizing and truly a one of a kind moment. We heard so much about this restaurant from people who came here, so a couple of us decided to come for dinner. I can't say enough about this restaurant. We were greeted by the owners, and there daughter Aida who was very welcoming, and friendly, the whole time we were there. The Crespelle Florentino, Shrimp Scampi and there Polpette, we're a few of the appetizers we had that were very good. Ferdi has that human touch that is rarely found in restaurants now. My friend and I made a reservation to enjoy Italian cuisine and celebrate my birthday. Little did we anticipate that we'd receive so much more than that. The ambience in Ferdi is easy but not overly casual; there is an elegance to the interior set up and staff. My friend has a particular diet that requires her to ask questions up to the minutest detail around ingredients and preparation; our server, Will, was happy to inform her with the fullest transparency, which my friend really appreciated, bringing ease to the decision making. We ordered a creamy pasta alla russo, a tuna steak, and Spritzer cocktail. We enjoyed the meal so much that it felt seamless eating and conversing. My pasta was rich without feeling heavy or oily, and my friend appreciated that the kitchen was able to accommodate her specs around the tuna (restaurants aren't always this understanding to meet her needs). The citrusy, refreshing cocktail was a perfect send-off to summer as we transition to autumn. And the birthday surprise was a thoughtful touch, a nice cap to our very satisfying meal (it rounded up our meal perfectly! ). The service was attentive and not intrusive to our chit-chat. To our surprise, we had a chance to meet the owners! It looked like they make a point to check-in on their guests, to hear about their experience directly. It felt so genuine and they expressed their sincere gratitude for supporting their fairly new restaurant. We learned so much about the business, and was able to converse with the staff that went beyond the service - - we got to know Will and Eleazar at a personal level and we loved how the whole experience felt like we were having dinner with family. Had dinner with close friends last evening. They took me to Ferdi, I can only say my experience was excellent. Food, atmosphere, service. I had the risotto, my friends had the Pollo Sicillano and Caesar salad with grilled chicken. All excellent. Dining room was not fancy but also not shabby just nice, just right. Drinks were delicious and in the right glasses ( sometimes these places just use any glass) not good. Appropriate glassware is essential to a proper drink like my Manhattan loved it. This is a family owned business, very sweet and they take pride in their food. Always making sure our experience is exceptional. In NYC there are thousands of restaurants, good restaurants. I was so happy we tried - the staff was so warm and welcoming. We talked to the young talented chef about his partnership with his lovely sister, the host and learned of the town in Italy they are from. The eggplant ravioli was homemade and delicious. Ferdi proved to be a huge cut above almost every other Italian restaurant in the area. The menu has plenty to choose from traditional Italian to specials with a flare. The overall experience was second to none, the NYC Italian market is crowded and plentiful but this restaurant stands out. I like to say in California there are a a lot of grape growers but few fine wine makers.... This restaurant is like that metaphor as there are so many lazy Italian restaurants but this is one that actually measures up at the highest level. Why go spend $300 at Babbo if you can have an intimate car supwrior meal here Everything is done so well that it's hard to pick what is best. You just have to love the brother and sister team of Aida and Fernando. I've found in NYC there are levels to this restaurant game.
