It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. The energy felt great here. We ordered the cast iron focaccia and Tuna Tonnato. The Focaccia is probably the best I've ever had. It was light and airy and not what a traditional focaccia would taste like. The crust had a nice crisp to it. It was brushed with olive oil and finished with salt. Just perfect and highly recommend. It came with a tomato chili sauce, which tasted good, but was not needed for this. We ordered the tuna to pair with the bread and it was a great combo. I ended up ordering the hangar steak and it was good. Full of flavor and the chimichurri sauce was a nice touch. Though, I would have like the taste of the beef to come out more. The marinade overpowered the meat IMO. My wife got the Rigatoni alla Gricia. I like the pasta and it was bouncy, but the dish was too salty though. We ended the night with the basque cheesecake and I have to say that it wasn't my favorite. The texture seemed off. Normally basque cheesecake is smooth and creamy, but this was a little lumpy like when you over cook eggs in a dessert. Overall, the service was great and the vibes of the restaurant was on point. The food didn't blow me out of the water, but it was good. I would come back here for the focaccia though.

I happened to come in for Labor Day Brunch on Saturday. We both said we were going to do unlimited but honestly could only finish about a pitcher of mimosa and they only charged us for the one pitcher was the nice part. I went with Carbonara Pasta and my boyfriend had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with fries. I'm not gonna lie, I've never gone to aycd brunch and have not finished my food but I could not finish my entree it was so massive and filling. I haven't had a pasta this rich in ages and it was so so good and I am all for not having those skimpy little portions. He couldn't finish his sandwich either. I tried one of the fries and it was nicely battered thick cut wedge fries. Maybe I haven't been eating out alot lately but I was legit impressed. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. Still, I'd definitely come back for the focaccia, tagliatelle, and the cacio e pepe.

I love the NYC dining scene, but it's rare to feel the sense of love and joy that Ferdi is brimming with. It's the antithesis to many of the sleek, but often impersonal or pretentious new West Village restaurants born from restaurant groups. Their penne vodka is one of the best I've had in this city, and I loved my puttanesca. But the service and love that my fiance and I experienced was really moving. We were lucky to be served by Aida herself (one of the sibling owners) and she went out of her way to make us feel at home. She even sent us home with a delicious homemade limoncello and provided a complimentary dessert after we paid the bill. I can't wait to go back and spread the love of Ferdi! read more

This place has been a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, offering much-needed culinary delights. My only suggestion would be to adjust the ratio of meatballs to spaghetti in the spaghetti and meatballs dish, as I prefer more meatballs and less pasta. However, everything else is impeccable.
