Fernando catered my surprise birthday party, I could not be more happy with the results. Every time I called he answered my call and any questions I had regarding his service. The service comes all-you-can eat tacos from a selection of 4 meats (carne asada, al pastor, carnitas, and chicken), quesadillas, rice and beans, chip and quacamole; plus he provides plates, plastic ware and napkins. Not to mention, there was so much food let over. This is a complete 3 hour service. Fernando is truly a professional. He arrived at the venue at the agreed upon time, he and his son did set up and clean up and the food service was ready at the designated time. The food was delicious, I got complements all night, which should have been given to the chef. Even my Latino friends raved about the food, the al pastor was the overwhelming crowd favorite. Back in December I had Fernando's Catering for my sons first birthday and I have nothing but great to say about my experience with this company! Firstly, *Easy booking, quick and clear communication *Food was delicious, very flavorful and had all the fixings, salsa, guacamole, chips, onion etc he even had vegetarian options( quesadillas, sautéed veggies) my guests raved about the food and continued to get up for seconds. * Presentation was perfection- very clean, and everything was arranged beautifully. *Fernando and his wife were very kind, aimed to please they arrived about 10 mins early and left a little bit late making sure they packed my family and I the leftover food! Wow, just wow. I almost have no words to describe how good the food and service Fernando's Catering provided. We were hosting a day after pool party at our house for 80 of our out-of-town wedding guests (yes, we are crazy) and requested quotes from a few Taco caterers. I really liked the offerings and price, as well the professionalism, that Fernando's provided so we went with them. Communication was easy throughout, and the day of, they showed up early to setup, and were self sufficient, less asking where to set up and getting a pot of hot water, as well as containers to put in leftovers. Both the food and the aquas frescos (we had Horchata and Jamaica) was a big hit with our guests. It was definitely a treat for everyone, and we are so glad we went with Fernando's. I have had taco catering at many of my get togethers over the years. I love tacos, I have to say Fernando's was the best. They came early, served for the full three hours, the food tasted great, and their service was outstanding. They catered my wife's 40th birthday with nearly 70 people. Took a risk, found them on yelp saw their ratings and decided to hire them for my Sister's birthday and I am really happy both with their service, quality of food and professionalism. I hired them for late night food, other vendors tried to charge me extra since I was asking them to serve from 11pm-1am. Fernando's Catering did not charge me any kind of "late night fee". The only down side is their minimum order if for 50 people, but it is worth it in the end. They offered both a organic menu, and normal menu. I got the normal menu where they offered 4 types of meat, chips, guac, hot and mild salsa, grilled peppers, onions, cilantro and sides of grilled veggies for vegetarians. (they also had the option of quesadilla). Two servers came, one cooked while the other made sure that we didn't run out of salsa or onions. I can't reiterate how good their service was. Yelpers, there are taco carts, and then there is Fernando. he is, as the Yelp 5-star line says, woohoo, as good as it gets. anytime someone asks about getting taco catering for their event, i basically sing Fernando's praises to the high heavens until they agree to let me message them his number. inevitably, i get a gushingly grateful thank-you email or text right after the party, unless i'm invited too, whereupon i am usually gushed at in person. seriously. OK, so why is Fernando so awesome you should just plan a party to have him cater (kind of like we do)? three main reasons: 1. his food is ridiculously, eyeball-rollingly, tummy-heaven-inducingly good. especially the al pastor. i dream of Fernando's al pastor. he will cook fresh several kinds of meat right there for you and have plenty of toppings to go with. tortillas are fresh and delicious, and his beans and rice are really good. there are also chips, guac, and salsa. he can also do grilled veggies -- all the non-meat eaters at your party will be very happy. 2. his affordability. his incredibly fair pricing includes: him coming to you, with a helper, and all his cooking setup (which is a fairly small footprint -- good for backyards!). don't worry about where in SoCal you live; when i first hired him long ago he was in Ontario and happily did my party on the Westside. you will get several types of meat, veggies, beans, rice, cheese, chips, salsa, guacamole, toppings galore, and all the plates/napkins/utensils. he will leave all extra food with you, and every party he's ever catered that i've been to or hired him for, he brings PLENTY of food: no one goes hungry, and you get awesome leftovers. (protip: don't tell your guests how good that al pastor is so that you get to keep a big tub of it in your fridge for the next few days to enjoy.) 3. he is an absolute gentleman and a true professional. he speaks English fluently, picks up his phone or returns calls immediately, and is totally reliable. he is punctual, spotlessly clean, and treats every guest with politeness and friendliness. usually, his assistant is a member of his family, and they are the same way. he will gladly make quesadillas for all the kids (and grownups), or extra-char that jalapeno for you, or heap extra al pastor on your tacos without hesitation. he will stay for three hours and make sure everyone knows when he needs to start packing up so no one is disappointed. look, we are in SoCal, land of Many Taco Providers, and land of many Strong Taco Opinions. i can guarantee the deliciousness of Fernando's food (and service too!) will earn you Awesome Host Points with even the most jaded and snobby of your taco-loving guests. the only drawback to experiencing Fernando is that YOU will become jaded and snobby about all other taco catering that you will experience afterwards. so do your friends a favor (and make them invite you) and make them hire Fernando for their next party. you don't have to gushingly thank me; please feel free to take all the credit. and some extra al pastor. read more

AMAZING!! Fernando cooks the most delicious tacos. Everything is so fresh and cooked perfectly. My husband and I are pretty picky when it comes to food and we LOVED everything. FOund Fernando's catering on Yelp and I was not disappointed . They arrived on time to set up and served at exactly the time I requested . My family loved the tacos - Carne asada, carnitas, chicken and al pastor and some veggies . I was just a little disappointed because they were supposed to have quesadilla and I just realized it after the party . It would have been great if the kids were served quesadilla . Not sure if they offered it or not . I completely forgot also to tell everyone that quesadilla was available . But it wasn't a big issue . The food was good and everybody raved about it . They also gave us the leftovers which my family devoured after . Ismael was very nice and polite and he served everyone with a smile even when the temp was 103 that day . We were hosting 100 guests for a twins' birthday celebration and had booked Fernando's catering after reading the stellar reviews on Yelp. They were everything the other Yelp reviewers described: polite, professional and THE BEST taco catering we have ever eaten. As taco catering for parties in LA is plentiful and fairly standard, these guys stand out, and that is saying something! Fernando and his assistant arrived on time, dressed in white chefs attire, were organized and quietly set up without disruption to our guests. They came prepared with everything they needed. Just the aroma of the food being prepared caused our guests to ignore our appetizers and go straight for the tacos. They provided 4 types of meat, rice and beans and all the accompaniments. They even served broccoli and onions, grilled green Mexican peppers and cheese quesadillas for all of our guests. That took care of our vegetarians and even our one Vegan. They also helped me by packing the left-overs in boxes I provided. The food was absolutely delicious. It was even given a seal of approval by our Mexican friends. These guys are the real deal. They were very generous in the amount of food provided, and the service was always with a smile, and a kind word to our guests. I will definitely be either recommending Fernando's Catering to my own friends or using their services again for my parties. My guests for this party were family and friends from out of town and most of them are established foodies and can be difficult to please. But this company made our event a real success.
