Joe Doria purchased the building and opened the Meat Market after renovating the building. Our family patronized the General store for generations. Because of this, I didn't want to 'like' the change. However, Joe has done an amazing job in keeping the original ambiance of the historical building and Quality of product behind those old sweet wooden front doors. Off the top of my head, I can name three non-chain BBQ joints where you get excellent value for the money: Evie Mae's in Wolfforth up near Lubbock ( free self-serve beer with your meal there as well), Thorndale Meat Market in Thorndale, and the Old 300 in Blanco closer to home.
