We never made it to a table. There were five us. "Thirty minute wait" for a table for five, but there were not five people at any table, only two tables with four and maybe another empty table for four empty. The logic escapes me. The hostess said she wasn't permitted to seat somebody at the end of the table. That escapes me too. I asked to speak to somebody else who might be in charge. She said he wasn't there. Good American/bar food option for the area! I liked that they had a good variety and amount of items on their menu. I opted to go with the mini burgers on their menu. I like that they called out that they use grass fed beef because I wasn't in the mood for some super greasy low quality meat. The burgers did not disappoint. I opted to have a baked potato with cheese and butter on the side, it was tasty! We went on a Friday and at 9pm they had Karaoke. There wasn't too many people there but it might be end of season. The karaoke hosts were great and really got the crowd to engage. They even convinced three people in our group to karaoke which our group of friends doesn't typically do. My kids and I came here on the first evening of our Michigan City weekend getaway. I saw the good rating and reviews on yelp so we decided to give it a try. Once we walked in, we waited about 5 minutes before getting seated at a booth. The interior was nice, especially the bar area, and the place was busy with the Friday evening crowd. We were immediately given glasses of water and our server got our drink orders. Shout out to the lady who never failed to fill up the glasses of water on all the tables. She was very efficient. We waited several minutes before our server, Alexandria, came back to take our food orders. After the orders were in, it went downhill from there. Food wise, we ordered CHICKEN CARBONARA PASTA, SHRIMP DIABLO PASTA, and CHICKEN PARM. The dishes were good, not great. The portions were just the right size. We all liked the sauce of the Shrimp Diablo dish the best. I ordered the STUFFED MUSHROOMS as appetizer but we never got to try it. Our server forgot to put the order in. I only found that out when I asked the other staff who served our food. Yup. I do not want to write about all the frustrating things which happened that evening but to sum it up, we waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food to be served. I am not exaggerating. My son set his timer on which he started when our food orders were taken. No apologies and no explanations from anyone while I kept following up about our food. Took an impromptu trip to the outlets and stopped here for a quick visit. We had the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. The bread crumbs really gave it a pizza feel. So good! I ordered a hamburger with fries and our server so graciously asked the kitchen to add grilled jalapeños at my request. My friend ordered the meatloaf. The burger and fries were amazing. My friend didn't too much care for the string beans or mashed potatoes but she loved the meatloaf and gravy. She said the sides lacked seasoning. I had a ginger beer with a name that amused my innermost prebubescent teen: "cock bull." And my friend had 2 pineapple turnovers which was a fruity coacktail akin to a martini. My rating is based strictly off my meal. My server was Michael and he was great. He was very attentive and personable. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, meatloaf, and a grassfed burger. My friend really enjoyed her burger. The stuffed mushrooms were good. They give you 3 decent size mushrooms. The breadcrumbs really pulled the flavor together. The meatloaf came with garlic mashes and green beans. I tasted no garlic in the mashes. I do like garlic and perhaps it was there but not enough for me. The green beans were cooked well just not enough seasoning. The meatloaf needed more seasoning as well. There was a gravy under the meatloaf. I would've appreciated it on top, and if it was on top there wasn't enough for me to notice. The restaurant was casual. read more

Tried to get a table to enjoy a Sunday lunch here. The gentleman told our party of five it would be a five minute wait for a table. We happily waited. After ten minutes of waiting in the lobby, they offered us a menu to browse the items but still no table. Three parties of people had left the building and passed us on the way out, but were assured that our table was being cleaned. After another few minutes, a new party of two walked in and was instantly seated. Seating a smaller party is easier but it's certainly confusing how our table had been in an "almost ready" state when a new party came in and was seated before us. Several minutes later of perusing a menu, our party collectively decided to leave. The same gentleman came by and condescendingly told us "the table is being cleaned right now". I'm sure it definitely is being cleaned. I bet it's the most cleaned table in the joint. Don't know if we were profiled or simply unwanted but I can gladly say I didn't spend a dime here and you shouldn't either. read more

Wonderful lunch! Excellent service and delicious food! A friend and I enjoyed a fun and decadent lunch here. We started with martinis--I had an orange creamsickle martini and she had a key lime martini. Both were so good. The glasses were rimmed with graham cracker crumbs. We ordered the Pierogi appetizer. They were beautifully buttery-crisped on the outside and softer on the inside. You get four of them drizzled with ribbons of sour cream--so it is perfect for sharing and very tasty. I got the Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken. It is served with a homemade green goddess dressing on the side. My friend ordered the Beet and Goat cheese salad which also came with the green goddess dressing on the side. I will admit, this was our second choice for a night away for our friends' anniversary dinner. Knowing how delicious it was though, it's definitely going to be my first-choice for recommendations to others headed to Michigan City. For our appetizer we ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip. My boyfriend said it might have been the best he's ever had. I've never had it served with garlic bread before - nice touch! The dip was super thick and creamy. Very flavorful. (Would recommend) My boyfriend ordered a burger. The Mac Daddy I think it was called. I should've written it down. Anyway, it was a burger with Mac & Cheese on it. He also ordered the sweet potato tots. I have never heard of sweet potato in tot form. They were outstanding! (Recommended by the waiter, I would recommend). He enjoyed the burger and ate every last bit of it somehow without exploding. I ordered the Build Your Own Mac & Cheese. Super yum. I ordered the jalapeños and onions to add to it along with the pulled pork. Delicious. We were in town on vacation with our toddler and decided to stop in to Fiddlehead for lunch on our last day. It was by far the best meal we had all week. We had great service (and crayons for our 2 year old!) and the ambiance of the place was good. We started with the delicious spinach artichoke dip (SO good!) and we each got a margarita. The margaritas were so incredible that we had to go for a second round. For entrees, my husband had the Hipster sandwich and I got the Firecracker burger. Both were extremely tasty and left us full and very satisfied. I would definitely return to Fiddlehead if we come back to Michigan City! read more

Stopped in with my family and enjoyed lunch on their small patio out front. The food was good quality and good sized portions. I had the lobster roll which was filled with lots of lobster and tons of fresh dill. The sweet potato tots were cooked perfectly and paired nicely with the dipping sauce. My parents had the Mediterranean salad and chicken salad sandwich. They said both were good. My husband got the mother clucker which was voted our favorite dish. Stuffed mushrooms were a soufflé of bland mushrooms baked in tasty cheese, artichoke and breadcrumbs. The best thing we had but wouldn't call it stuffed mushrooms. Lamb skewers was more of a salad with lamb patties trying to be lamb falafel. Not bad. Pierogi was interesting....seemingly deep fried and generously dressed in some sort of sour cream ish-like liquid. I ate one of the 6 presented and regret it to this day My wife's perch was cooked to a nice consistency but I don't understand why it's fried if you're not going to season the breading. It tasted like vegetable oil and flour, which my wife picked completely off only to discover that the fish itself was barely seasoned - perhaps with the expectation that the fried bits would be. I have no idea but the restaurant's lack of hot sauce made it tough to cover up and push on. Bloody Mary's were not spicy at all (see no hot sauce above) and were heavy on pickle juice, something I don't mind but isn't for every one. To top it all off the drinks were garnished with lime instead of lemon, something I will never understand but, like Taco Bell, is all too common. The service was fine. Ambiance-wise, I guess the restaurant is hanging it's hat on winning the award for most rainbow flags in Michigan City restaurant, a distinction that will no doubt disappoint 2nd place finisher, Leed's Public House, across the street. In summary, my second time eating here and a meal that I hope to never suffer again. But hey, what kind of brunch for 2 can one expect in this day and age for $110. If I'm being honest, I'd rather recommend stopping for a hotdog at the stand on 12 and Washington and save yourself $90. read more

I dislike posting reviews, but feel the need when myself and group feel like we are misled or that we would get bad service if we stayed. In short, we arrived an hour before closing and were subtly told that after the 30 minute wait, we would be too close to closing. Posting to warn others that you should arrive well before closing. Ultimately, I have heard great things about the quality of the food. Situation: Arrived at 7 pm when the place closes at 8pm. Server noted there was a 20-30 minute wait and pointed out that they closed at 8pm. Our party felt the additional emphasis on the closure piece. We felt that this meant that we would not be served well or potentially at all. Due to this we chose to go elsewhere. ---- I understand not every place can stay open forever and am not personally in favor of people showing up to service industry places right before closure because people have lives outside of work. Why I post, is because I am not sure if I agree on where they drew the line in relation to the closing time. Open to disagreement and having my mind changed, but my goal is to warn others of how early they should come. read more

We are visiting Michigan City, IN for the first time, and our AirBnb host recommended Fiddlehead. This weekend is their Pride celebration, so the restaurant was decorated accordingly and the staff were all wearing LGBTQ shirts. The atmosphere was cute and inclusive. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait, so the hostess recommended we sit at the bar. When we got to the bar, they asked for our ID's. (I didn't bring mine because I don't drink.) Because I didn't have my ID, the bartender told us we couldn't sit at the bar. (First time that has happened.) Once seated, we ordered the Firecracker burger with fries, the Motherclucker chicken sandwich with sweet potato tots and Brussel sprouts. The food was incredible and our server was great. Took short Trip to Michigan City Indiana decide to try this local place out. The food was really good start off with the Pierogi's. These it's fried with 3cheese blend and potato, and fried crisp in butter. They are topped with sour cream and chives, and I added the caramelized onions at an upgrade price. These were so good that we actually went back another time during this trip to have these again. Then tried the Mother Clucker Chicken sandwich. It was also delicious, with tomato-bacon jam( need I say more ) pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo. It was served on a pretzel bun and all those flavors was outstanding. The draw back to this place doesn't take reservations, so just be prepared that there will be a wait. They do take your phone number so that you can look around Art district until your table is ready. Beer selection is limited however they have a full bar with spirits. read more
